Most real values are not in "things" but in people. One of the important differences between "people and animals" is pointed out when we say that people have personality. Animals have life the same as humans do. They also have bodies and spirits. They have a very real kind of intelligence in their speres. Frequently their senses are even more highly developed. An eagle can see further than a man, a rabbit can run faster, an elephant lives longer, a dog has a more highly developed sense of smell and a horse has a more dependable sense of direction. But as his exclusive right man was endowed with the endless possibilities of personality. This distinction so sets him apart that God is his only fellow in the universe. Is is also mans unique privilege to have two creators. In that early morning of creation God formed man in his own image. But the creation of man is still going on and man himself has been invited to develop those distinguishing traits of personality and character that will determine his final success.
Okay, I know this book sounds really dumb, but this is honestly one of the best books I've ever read. I started reading "A Purpose Driven Life", and it was alright, but it just felt too forced and stale to me. This book is all about having purpose in your life, but it's so much more inspiring, he uses so many examples from great literature and history, and just makes you want to really change, and be the person you know you should be. Anyway... I'll stop babbling, but if you ever get a chance, I think you should read this book :)
