allyn lesley writes real stories about real people.

As a teen, allyn lost herself in the pages of some of Romance’s heavyweights, trusting that a happy ever after was just around the corner. In allyn’s own writing journey, as in life, she’s learned that people don’t always experience recovery and restoration after a fall. Her stories speak to the gritty side of life where the right choice isn't always easily identified and happiness not quickly gained.

I really, really, really liked it!!! This is the second book in this series (and I think trilogy) and the story picks up where the first one ended. The danger is far from over and Noah and Avi have so much stuff to tell each other, so many secrets to reveal, if they want their relationship to survive. Let me tell you, the plot and the emotions are a roller coaster! The angst, drama and secrecy is on every page and while I love that, I also wanted more happy times. I know, I know...I shouldn't complain since this really is a great story but I can't help myself. I wanted more romance! There were enough sexy times but the emotional side of a 'happy romance', that's what I was missing. Other than that, man, there was so much going on. I won't go into details, because I don't want to spoil anything but let's just say that the villain might surprise you. I couldn't believe who it was and I also couldn't understand how he or she could do what they did.

description

I feel like the more I read the story, the more I get to see the real Noah and I really like that. He's still dominant and can be a real jerk but he's also wearing his heart on the right sleeve. In this book we get to see how much he really cares for Avi and also his father figure. We get to see how he handles new loss and some news that shock his world. As for Avi, I think I liked her in this book more than the first. She's stronger and I think she wants now more from the relationship. Above all, she wants answers and sometimes we have to be careful of what we wish for, since the answers we get, we might not like.

All I can say is that I enjoyed the book and I will read the next one, too!

I fell in love with Avi and Noah in the first book and was looking forward to reading the continuation of their story.
The book started off where Deeper left off, and I was hooked from the first page. We learn more about Noah’s past, where he came from, what his childhood was like. It was an integral part of the story and I enjoyed every bit of it. I felt bad for Noah when he needed to keep everything hidden from Avi. But I get it, he wanted to protect her. Everything this complicated man does is to protect people he loves, especially Avi. I loved how the author showed us his emotional struggle, how Noah learned to trust Avi.
This is a story full of twists and turns that will make you hold your breath. I enjoyed every page of this great story and can’t wait for more Noah and Avi. <3

“Her body melted into his before he flipped her over. With a floor-to-ceiling mirror in front of them, they watched as his hand ripped the shirt down the middle. She stood still, but his eyes picked up on the small twitches in her thigh muscle like she was anticipating what he’d do next.”

4.5 deeper stars!!! Noah and Avi are one sexy book couple!

I really liked the first book, but I will say I’m in love with the second book! I loved the whole development of Avi and Noah’s story and everything they go through. It’s a quick sexy read that packs a powerful punch!

Noah aka TKONYC was ruthless in Descent! Man, when he tells you (his brothers) to leave the room you know it's about to be bad. Love the way him and Avi has grown into their relationship: he'd die for her. There's been some serious ups and downs... Trust, mistrust... Even heartbreak, where we learn a little more of Noah's past. But all in all, he survived the madness! Great job Allyn Lessly! Bring on B3....

Deeper: Descent picks up right where book one ended. Noah Adams, the King of New York, has found his Queen in Avi Linton. Though they came together under tragic circumstances, the two have decided to give their relationship a shot. Just when Noah thinks he's gotten everything he's ever wanted, he learns that he's still caught in the web of an adversary unlike any he's known before. Like Deeper, Deeper: Descent is a sexy, suspenseful story that's hard to put down.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are multi-dimensional and complex, the story is well-written, and I love the urban setting of New York City. Noah may be a drug kingpin who's a bit of a hard-ass, but he's also a very likable character. I found that interesting, because if Allyn Lesley hadn't developed him as well as she did, Noah could have easily become a bully. Even though he's heavy-handed at times, I find that it's due to his military background, and because he realizes how dangerous his life can be. Avi is a pretty cool woman, and I love that she has her own identity apart from Noah. However, I did feel like she lost a bit of herself in Noah in this second novel. Hopefully she'll regain some of her autonomy in the third entry.

The aspect of the story I enjoyed the most was the gritty underworld feel of Noah's world. I loved the mystery surrounding his past, and how it kept informing his life today. This shed more light on Noah's personality, and made him more empathetic to me. Though this is true, I still like his boys Roe, Cass, and Gavin more than him. Somehow they seem more like "regular" people. Now that Noah has uncovered the truth about his past it will be interesting to see how/if it changes him in the next installment.

Allyn Lesley's The Deeper Chronicles is a fast, entertaining read, and full of hot, steamy love scenes. I think Deeper: Descent is a suspenseful story that grabs you right away, and the characters keep you invested in the outcome. Anyone who is looking for a romantic crime novel should definitely check this one out. Since it's the second novel, I would start with book one, as this story is a continuation of that one. Picking this one up without having read the first book may confuse readers about the backstory, so be warned. This review was originally posted on I Was Angelized_1st

Noah was dark, deep, delicious in his own brand of uniqueness and raw, grimy appeal. His brothers at arms were just as dark and delicious but with their own personal spin on things. Noah knew all too closely what it was like to move up in the world. He knew the bottom of the bottom.

Playing in the big boy’s league makes things run at a faster pace to regular life. Here both Noah and Avi find that things are not always as they seem. There are more secrets, more danger, more complications, more trust concerns, more twist and turns. Noah and Avi are being pushed and manipulated for a purpose that neither of them are aware of. Things start to unravel in small pieces. Hints and clues to various events are starting to show through. Some people are not who or what they seem to be. Friends and allies are not always there for you and the truth has a way of being found.

There are a slew of clues and a slew of new and old face. Backstories that need to be told. And finding a way to make a relationship work that already had barriers in place. Avi finds that she was loved. Noah finds that he still had demons chasing him at every turn. Getting to the bottom of everything has a price. What price will Avi and Noah have to pay to know the full truth of it all?

Allyn Lesley has found her pacing and set this one on the charts. The title says it all Deeper: Descent. You are most certainly in for a deeper look behind what makes Noah who he is. There are deeper plot lines revealed. There are deeper connections revealed. There are deeper secrets, deceit, and danger. The bridge between Avi and Noah begins to discern a deeper connection. But there are still obstacles in the way to what could be called a HEA. These two books together makes for a read to remember.

I have been sitting on this little jewel for a minute now. But life happens and I am just catching up on all my reviews. Allyn Lesley is back with her second installment in the Deeper Chronicles. One of the things that a lot of authors could learn from this one is that when you do a series and there is a gap of time between this story and the next give readers a little synopsis or a catch up to refresh us. I know you could just re-read the last story but I so appreciated before reading this story a catch up on all the important elements to prepare me for what’s to come.

Now on to the story this second installment gets a little bit deeper into Noah’s pass. I enjoyed the flashback scenes they were a little dark and added an additional element to the story. i.e. Noah’s father and his troubled past. In the first story Avi sort of annoyed me because she was so naïve. But I think being with a man like Noah ( they don’t call him the King of N.Y. for nothing) has opened her eyes. He is a man with many secrets and most are to protect her from the man he has become. As a reader you get a little more insight into their relationship. With this book the author does a good job of mixing suspense in with the romance aspect. Avi and Noah have a lot thrown their way especially from outside sources. Once secrets are revealed will their love be strong enough to withstand? Summer is right around the corner and this book is definitely a great beach read. Please judge this book for yourself and not based on this one review.

*Reviewed together with book 1

I read these two together so I am writing my review for them together. Allyn is a newer author and defiantly a new to me author. I do think she is a good writer and I see lots of potential. There was a few things for this story that I had trouble with though. I did think this was a good story over all. The pace of it was good but in a few scenes it would just abruptly stop and switch. That kinda messed up the flow for me. The characters of Noah and Ali were likable but for me I had trouble picturing them actually together. I was told they had great chemistry and an instant connection. I just didn't see it. Noah is a dick. I usually like these kinda guys in books. Well, there my favorite actually. With him though I was once again told this but never felt he was or I wasn't shown it either. Lots of telling in the book but not showing it to the reader. Avi was ok, she did get frustrating at times, that might just be for me though. I did like that we had several story lines going on and they kinda tied up at the end. That makes for good substance in a book. I usually call this "meatier books". I think this is a lot of little things that can easily be worked on by a good writer. Allyn is a good writer and with time I feel she will be a great one. These are good books over all and if you think they sound like your kinda thing go ahead and pick them up.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, anger, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Deeper (The Deeper Chronicles #1)

This is more of Avianna and Noah’s story. Just as Avianna and Noah are starting to work they are being ripped apart. They have a ton of issues to work through. You get answers to questions you had in the first book only for the author to leave you with more questions. Lots of twists & turns in this story that keep you turning the pages. This couple will struggle to stay together with all the secrets and issues they need to work though. The danger surrounds them making working on issues all the more harder. Can Noah protect Avianna from the danger? Can they figure out each other before the danger takes away everything from them? It ends on a bit of a cliffy so be prepared to get another story.

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I was so fortunate to do a beta read on this gem!

Allyn did not dissapoint! I love Avi and Noah. they are one of favorite book couples. To see Noah grow, and learn to trust and confide in Avi was truly amazing.

I'll expand on this review after the book is released, I don't want to give anything away. I just want to shout my love for this follow up from the roof tops! Well done!

Review originally published on Rach Lawrence Books.

*I was provided an ARC of Deeper Book Two by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

Noah Adams and Avi Linton are finally able to relax and enjoy each other, but business for Noah always takes precedence. Avi understands, to a degree, though that doesn’t keep her from pushing for answers Noah isn’t willing to give. Noah’s business suddenly becomes personal and he has to figure out who is targeting him and how to stop the threat. When the threat sets its sights on Avi, Noah has more to lose than he ever imagined. He’ll need to save Avi without losing himself in the process.

Although not strictly necessary, I highly suggest reading book 1 prior to reading The Deeper Chronicles Book Two. There is a lot of information from the first book that continues into this book, and since it had been a while since I read the first one I found myself struggling at times to understand some parts.

That said, it is an interesting and intriguing romantic suspense novel, and I appreciate the way the author is able to weave together various pieces of the puzzle. So many things are happening at once but I was able to follow along and put clues together, which kept me engaged throughout.

Noah was an alpha who ruled with an iron fist. His characterization stayed true from the first time we met him in book 1 until the end of this book. While I appreciated the consistency of his character, it was also one of the downfalls of my enjoyment. If you’re the type of reader who loves an alpha male and the women who submit to them, then this series would be a great choice for you. Unfortunately, I prefer to see character growth and adaptation. I wanted Noah to show a little trust in Avi and let her into his world a bit. Instead he used sex to distract or deter her every time she asked him questions, which not only left me disconnected from Noah but also wondering exactly what their relationship was based on other than sex. Avi was a bit too weak for my liking.

The copy of the book I received was an ARC edition, so I tried to limit my criticism of grammatical errors, however they did factor into my rating a bit as there were some errors in vital sentences that really took me out of the moment. Hopefully they have been cleaned up in the final publication.

I’m certain this book will appeal to many readers. It just didn’t hit enough high notes for me.

✯✯4 Deeper Stars!!!✯✯

I felt like I was never going to get my hands on this book. I knew when I finished reading Deeper that there was more to the story. More to Noah. I needed to know it. It was definitely worth the wait.

This picked up right where Deeper left off. Avi and Noah are back together and trying to move forward. But, it's not going to be easy. Noah might of taken care of Ido. But, that's not his only competition or enemy around. Noah plans on finding out the person/people who were working with him. With Ido out of the picture he has no idea where the next attack or threat is coming from. That scares him.

Noah and his buddy make calls out to every ally they have to help them. They learn rather quickly some of what and who is after them. But, not before seeing how they're going to get to Noah the best way possible. Avi. Noah will do anything to protect her. Before it's too late.

Noah totally had no boundaries when it came to Avi. Including things that had to change him forever. If something was to ever happen to me I'd 110% want and Noah and the guys to do what they do to find me and in time before something happened. Bc, to him he'll kill to get to those he loves to protect them.

I loved how we got a good look into Noah's past. We learned a lot about his childhood and his family. I still can't stand how over the top alpha man he is. I swear I'd smother him in the middle of the night with my pillow. There were times I was begging Avi to pack up her things and tell him where to go.
I get he has his reasons for acting certain ways. But, the demanding and talking to her like she has no say in anything. Man, it made me see red! But, it was also Avi's fault as well. If she would've put her foot down at times. Maybe he'd think twice.

But, all in all I liked this book. Finished it quick. I was glad Allyn gave us answers. Filled in the blanks. But,then left me with new questions and blanks that need to be filled. I hope we get the next book soon!

When Ms. Lesley left us hanging in book one I have been counting the days until book two and I was not disappointed. In book two she answers some questions but just brings up more. We need book three right now.

Right from the beginning we find that Noah and Avi find their HEA, but is that really true? Belt yourself in for a wild ride. As danger comes at every turn can Noah protect Avi? Can he protect himself? Can their relationship survive all the threats?

This book made me fall in love with Noah and Avi even more than I did in the first book. They struggle to accept each other and work through all the trial and tribulations. They are two strong characters that will have you laughing, crying and loving. There are some secrets that I did not see coming in this story. The best part of the whole storyline was that you get to see some of Noah's past and get to know him a little bit better.

As I said before just when you get some answers Ms. Lesley throws some twists in that make you have more questions and leaves a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting book three right now.

Danger, steamy, sexy, nail biting, and so much more is what you will get in this book.

We find ourselves starting out this book in 1979. We meet 'The Crow', Ornella, aka: Nell or Nellie. Two years later we see her with a little boy, and we find that she has fled from 'The Crow'. Who is Ornella? We meet Brash, I think the sister of the girl that died from the drugs. We find out she was Ido's partner and lover. We see a new man enter the picture to 'help' her get Noah. We find out who killed the Detective or maybe perhaps ordered it. We also see more about Noah and what haunts him. What does Avi do about the nightmares that Noah is having? What happens when Harry's former partner gets a hard on for Noah and then Avi by extension? Why does he get that hard on and keep making Avi question Noah? What happens when he does? When Avi gets the answers she's looking for, what happens? Does Noah ever find out about his real parents? What is going on with his Heroin? Who Ido and Brash are and who is behind them, pulling the strings on everything that has happened to Noah? This book goes even deeper into the belly of the beast and tests Noah and Avi's relationship in ways that we could only ever maybe think to imagine. You have to read this book. Waiting impatiently now for book three!

**** 4 Cranky Stars ****

Noah Adams admits that he is a bad man who does bad things!

Avi Linton is the woman who loves Noah, she knows that he does illegal things but struggles with turning a blind eye!

In this book the author gives us a glimpse of the past and we get a peek at the madness that sired Noah and we see the truth in the adage that people are the product of their environment.

Avi becomes the pawn in the vendetta between Noah and an obsessed cop and a figure from his past.

Again as in book one the reader is treated to a story where violence, suspense, sex and love is equally balanced for an excellent read which I rate 4.5 Cranky stars.

This book starts pretty much where book 1 finished, so I would recommend that you read it as a serial, rather than a series.

Avi and Noah still have a long way to go, both Noah learning to trust Avi (well, anyone really!) and Avi understanding what sort of man she is in a relationship with. We see more of the differing faces of the characters, not just Avi and Noah. Once again, this book is full of twists and turns which, in turn, makes it an enthralling read. With more of the story coming out, it gives you a backstory that will blow your mind. If I had one 'bad' thing to say, it would be that Avi's innocence is sometimes overplayed, and instead of innocent, she comes across as being ignorant by choice.

Overall, this was once again a gripping read, full of action and plot twists. Very well written and with no editing or grammatical errors that I could see, I would have no hesitation in recommending this book, or the series, and I am looking forward to book 3.

5 ***** Sexy page-turner

*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

This isn’t a standalone story; and although it’s possible to read this second installment without having read the first as I did, I missed out on a lot on background story, for instance.

allyn lesley does an awesome job of creating an engaging story filled with intrigue, betrayal, danger, and oh-so-good sexy moments. She also writes realistic characters that you can’t help but care for. They’re flawed like real people and that’s what make it easier for readers to relate to them. Personally, I don’t usually like falling for the ultimate bad boy but Noah Adams is so very hard to resist. Avi sometimes comes across as a bit too sweet for my taste, but that’s probably only me. Still, I wanted to know more about her and rooted for her and Noah.

I highly recommend this book.

Deeper...Better..Harder!

If I didn't know any better...I would think this is a different author..patience paid off...Allyn took her time for part 2...it is so much deeper into details...nicely weaving together plots and secrets..Noah's very existence from the time of his birth to the present was dictated and maneuvered by one sadistic bastard...Avi became his source of light...but he had so many hidden enemies...danger lurking behind every chess piece..every time he inched closer to the elusive King...he was no closer than where he started 34 years ago...that number is very significant to the plot....and the sex...Lord have mercy...my heart or girlie parts was over tasked.....jeez....so...Allyn, please take your time with #3...hope it tops 2....because it sure tops 1..

Filled with danger and suspense, Descent will blow your mind.

Bigger and better than Deeper. I was pleasantly surprised considering it took me a while to get into Deeper. But maybe it was because Allyn Lesley was introducing all of the characters that the whole story felt like it was being dragged into the mud.

I understand how important it is to develop your characters and she did a fantastic job at doing just that.

You will be gripping the edge of your seat as you read the sequel of drug overlords, crime kings, and the ultimate test of faith, love, and strength as the past seeps into their future with impending doom. Simply a 4 out of 5 stars.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds.

This book follows on from book one.
Avi has come back to Noah and all feels well. Of course it doesn’t take long before everything begins to heat up again. This follow on book is action packed from start to finish.
This was very easy to read, even though it’s very emotional, sad and violent at times.
It was good to see Avi and Noah grow stronger as a couple.
The old group was with Sophie, Stacy, Cass and the boys were back.
The death of Harry lay heavy on Noah’s heart. I love the action, but at times I was on rollercoaster of emotions. I will say to enjoy the book to the fullest you must read book one. Now I have to wait for book three.

Since I’ve read Books 1 and 2, my review is for both of them.
The writing is good, but I didn’t like the characters, nor the plot (I tried too, in both books)
I’ve been asked to give an honest review after all, so that’s what I’m going to do.
It’s a “reader” issue: the books didn’t hooked me, maybe I read them when I didn’t need so much “darkness” (in the world they evolve, or in the characters). I love dark heroes, but Noah didn’t caught my heart.

But that doesn’t mean he books are bad. Not at all.
I’m sure the series have potential, but it just didn’t work for me.

I'm loving this series especially Noah. Hopefully in the next book Avi isn't running. Each book in the series she's overwhelmed and doesn't know what she wants even though she learns the truth about Noah in the first book. I'm hoping that their in a solid relationship in the third book without all the drama of not knowing how the other person feels or who they really are so the characters stay conflicted. Overall great book can't wait for the next book.
