Follow her dream…
After making a deathbed promise to her father, Joelle Winslow is ready to seize the NYC business opportunity to take her jewelry designs global. All she needs to do is cash out her inherited half of the family ranch in Montana—which means convincing her childhood rival, and now co-heir, to sell or buy her out. Sparks fly when Matt, no longer a gangly, solemn teenager, but a tall, handsome cowboy with work-hewn muscles, is unwilling to give up on the legacy he's worked so hard to keep without a fight. And part of his bargain includes Joelle staying at the ranch with him through Homecoming Weekend.

The son her father never had...
The Winslow ranch rescued Matt Locke from a life in the foster-care system. As an orphan boy adopted by Clark Winslow and groomed to take over the ranch, he wants nothing more than to marry, raise a family, and continue the legacy of the man who became a father to him after his parents’ tragic deaths. Matt can't imagine a life anywhere else, and he definitely can't afford to buy Joelle out. Can he convince the dark haired beauty to not walk out on him and her home a second time?

Dnf. The heroine is a spoilt, self-centred madam who likes to mock people in public. I am sick of reading about women who treat men like that. The real problem is that she won't get her cumuppance unfortunately. I would so love to see some of these women finally get treated the way they treat others.

Another one I didn't finish. And it was a novella! Just sayin'.

I just couldn't get past the egotistical, self-centered heroine, bratty. Also, I didn't catch the "romantic vibes" between her and the hero. There weren't even friends as far as I could read. There was just nothing there.

HOME FOR GOOD takes us back to Marietta, Montana. There are SO many hot cowboys in this town!

Joelle Winslow is home after a very long absence. She has been living in Manhattan, establishing herself as an up-and- coming jewelry designer. She returns home to Marietta because her father has had a heart attack. She does get there in time to see him. The last thing he tells her before he dies is that he wants her to follow her dreams. Joelle takes this to mean her dream of opening her own jewelry business with her partners in New York. This will require a lot of start-up money. Her father left half the ranch to her. She’ll have to sell it to come up with it.

Matt Locke was taken in by Carl Winslow after his parents were killed when he was twelve. Carl and his father had been friends, and since he’d never had a son of his own, he wanted to do this for his friend. Matt and Carl bond quickly, and Matt is grateful for a home and takes to ranch living and the horses, immediately. He wanted to learn everything there was to know about running a ranch and horse breeding. He felt he was at a place he belonged. Joelle had been living with her mother in California. When her mother remarried, she sent Joelle back to Montana to live with her father. When Joelle realized how close her father and Matt had become, she was jealous. The relationship between the two was strained and antagonistic. Now she is back – all grown up, out of college and ready to take the world by storm.

When Joelle sees Matt again, she is stunned by the man he has become. He’s so…HOT! There is electricity in the air when she is around him. What is wrong with her? She doesn’t like feeling this way around him. She probably just isn’t herself because of all the stress of losing her father and being back in Marietta. It IS good to reconnect with all her old friends.

This novella is a palpable love story and an emotional search for resolution to a daughter’s feelings of inadequacy. Joelle wants to do something that would make her father proud of her, never realizing how proud of her he has always been. The descriptions of Marietta were vivid and the story was written with a depth of feeling. It explores a tangled bond of father and daughter. It touched me deeply. Terri Reed has insight and compassion for her characters. She has written a beautiful and moving story. I was transfixed by Matt and his heart-wrenching dilemma. You will be, too.

Cowboys and Montana with happily ever after...
After a couple of heavy reads, I wanted something a bit lighter to read on a rainy autumn evening. Home For Good is part of a series, that I followed before, stories filled with families, legacies, and love that lasts.
Matt and Joelle had some misunderstandings from the childhood their shared, creating lots of competition, animosity, and unnecessary walls between them.
But now, as adults, they finally have a chance to get to know each other, clear up the air, and the attraction flares. It is a sweet and clean story, with dignity, loyalty, honor, and values. Just a good, solid read about small town Montana, families, friends, and love that has to face some obstacles before finding the home with each other. ~ Three spoons

Matt and Joelle. I didn't care for the heroine. She was immature and pretty bratty. She would have benefitted from some counseling. I didn't buy the romance between Matt and Joelle. They've known each other for years, never liked each other, and were suddenly in love? Not buying it. I felt that that writing was somewhat immature, the story was rushed, and the ending was very abrupt.

Come home to Marietta, Montana! Joelle comes home to the Ranch and discovers that what she thought was 100% hers she has to share with the "boy" her father never had. The orphaned son of her daddy's best friend who stayed behind when she went off to college and then developed and branded her own jewelry line. Jo thinks she can sell off the land and make a quick escape but funny how life seems to always get in the way of well-laid plans. Matt oh Matt has the will of steel to deal with this spoiled brat but maybe there is more to it than that and of course, there is always a past lurking, waiting to peek out. This was my second read of a really nice Montana Born book.

Matt and Joelle's story

For those looming for a great, clean romance novella this is it. Joelle lived with her parents until a split of her parents. She misses Marietta while in California with her Mom. Joelle later returns to her father and the ranch only to find her father caring for Matt. Matt became orphaned due to horrific circumstances. Growing up Matt saw Noelle as a pain, and Noelle saw Matt as her replacement. You won't want to put this novella down.

Inheritance

Matt was taken in by his father's friend when his parents died. Joelle was living with her mother but wanted to return to the ranch. With Matt there, things were
different than she expected. Can Matt convince her she was loved and still is? Why does love have to be so complicated.

Hmm....

This was a lot of angst. I did like that they were trying so hard to make adult decisions... but thats not how love works. :) The ending was a bit rushed and cuts off very suddenly. But otherwise a decent quick read.

Summary: When Joelle Winslow was six, her parents divorced and her mother took her to San Francisco from her father’s ranch at Marietta, Montana. After two years of begging her mother, Joelle was allowed to return.

While she was away, her father, Clark, had adopted a boy. The parents of the boy, Matt, were Clark's friends, who were killed in an auto accident. Eight-year-old Joelle felt she had been replaced by Matt, the son her father always wanted.

She liked Matt. However, since she felt that her father preferred him over her, Joelle went to college in New York City and never returned until after her father's sudden death.

Upon learning that her father has split the ranch between herself and Matt, she is determined to sell her half to pursue her dream of starting her jewellery design business. Matt is devastated because the ranch is the only home he has known and he earns his livelihood from it. He wants to find a way to change Joelle's mind and make her stay.

This book by Terri Reed is about how he does so without Joelle having to abandon her dream.

My thoughts: As in the case of some of the other books I’ve reviewed lately, this book is also about a second chance. The difference is that this is not about a second chance at love but at returning home.

When this book also mentioned Marietta, Montana after The Long Way Home, I was confused. Only after checking did I realise they were part of the same series (Montana Born Homecoming); it was a pleasant surprise.

I liked the following aspects of the story:

Joelle discovers that her father loved her.
She realises that she and Matt never really resented each other after all.
Matt, Joelle, Clark and Ava are all great characters.
It does not rush into a conclusion, as in Matt and Joelle falling for each other as soon as she returns.

While not original, this is an enjoyable, entertaining book about realizing that there is always 'my version, your version and what really happened.’

Home For Good is the second book that I have read as part of A Homecoming Novella series. The first one had a different author but shared similar characteristics. Being that it’s rather short, I don’t want to get too deep into the details. I will say that it was a straightforward love story. I didn’t feel that it was realistic considering the backstory of the hero and heroine. Matt Locke and Joelle Winslow had two very different childhoods. Matt lost his parents in a car accident and was adopted by his dad’s best friend who just so happened to be Joelle’s father. At the same time, Joelle had been off living with her mother in a different state because her mom decided that she no longer wanted to have a life on a farm which lead to her parent’s divorce. Right before Joelle’s father died, he told her to pursue her dreams which she interpreted as selling her half of the ranch. Matt, who inherited the other half of the ranch, didn’t quite like the idea of losing the only place he truly called home.

As you can guess, Joelle and Matt spend several days together trying to figure out how to make an amicable sale. Homecoming for the local high school is also going on at this time. Nostalgia impresses up Joelle while Matt tries to get to know the adult Joelle. Clearly, there are sparks but I find it hard to believe that they fall in love so quickly considering how jealous they were of each other prior to this situation. Surely, I’m supposed to ignore certain things but I like to have a little bit of reality in every thing that I read. Nonetheless, it was at least a decent story.

HOME FOR GOOD by Terri Reed is the 5th book in the Montana Born Homecoming Series. Each book in this series is written by a different author - hence a multi-author book series!!

This is squeaky clean cowboy romance that is a novella! You can totally read it in one sitting! This series is based in the small town of Marietta, Montana.

This is Joelle's and Matt's story!

Matt has been Joelle's childhood nemesis ever since he came to live with them after his parents were killed. He became the son that her father always wanted. Joelle didn't want him to come and didn't know how to deal with him when he was there. But she followed him everywhere.

Now, years later, and after the death of her father, Joelle has come back home to ask Matt to sell the ranch so she can really move on with her life. What she didn't count on were her growing feelings for Matt.

So the majority of the story is about both of them coming to terms with past hurts and getting to know each other as adults. Not only does she need to deal with hurts caused by her father, but also by Matt. It's a sweet and tender story that moves quickly because it's a novella.

What I didn't like was how fast it ended. After he declared his love, the story just ended. There was no "this is how they resolved the problems of the storyline" type of thing. The story just ended. Still enjoyed it though.

Finding love where you least expect it.

Six months after Joelle Winslow's father passes away, she decides she wants to sell the ranch and invest in a jewelry company. She comes home to break the news to Matt Locke, who her father raised as his own son after his parents were killed in a car accident. Joelle always thought her father loved Matt more because he was a boy. So there has always been tension between them.

Matt is surprised to see Joelle in the barn one morning when he goes to check on the horses. What he didn't expect was the news she drops on him about why she was home. What will he do? He can't afford to buy out her half of the ranch. He doesn't want to lose the home that he loves and holds so many great memories.

As Joelle and Matt spend more time together, they start seeing how much they really care for each other. There is also the mutual attraction they have for one another. Will Matt be able to break the promise he made to Clark about watching his daughter and making sure she lives her dreams. Or will he give into the attraction and moves Joelle makes on him? Does Joelle give up her dream of moving back to New York City and starting the jewelry company?

This was a really sweet story which I enjoyed a lot.

Joelle made it back to Marietta in time to make her father a deathbed promise, but there wasn't enough time to mend fences. Six months after his death, Joelle has a chance to make her dream come true, but needs to sell her half of the ranch. First she has to get past Matt. Matt came to the ranch after his parents were killed in an accident.
When Joelle's parents split, she finally returned to the ranch at 8 to find that Matt had become the son her father never had. Growing up, she felt Matt took her place and her father preferred him, until then end when he split the ranch between them.
Now all grown up, Matt has to fight Joelle to keep the ranch, but as sparks start flying, he wonders if he can help her find a new dream, home in Marietta.
A very sweet story, Joelle and Matt had more than their fair share of hardship and emotional baggage. I do love how they came together and got to know each other as adults.
A fun, sweet, quick read. It was a great return to Marietta as part of Montana Born's Homecoming Series.

I think I'm in love with all things Marietta, Montana! LOL I haven't been disappointed in a single novel or short story about this town. The people are just so heart-warming and the cowboys are HOT HOT HOT! lol
So Matt (our hero) and Joelle (our heroine) have a past. Not exactly a happy happy past, but basically they lived under the same roof as children and there was some animosity .... etc (read the book for details lol) Now it's years later and Joelle is all grown up with a dream. In order to accomplish that dream, Matt's gonna have to play a part..... (again, details, read the book)
So the reunion was, for lack of a better term, quite HOT! lol The story was full of love and family, reconciling the past and allowing for a future, there was angst and tons of heart felt moments! It's really a good romance. I loved it all the way around!

When Joelle Winslow was six, her mom divorced her father and moved them to San Francisco. Joelle begged for two long years to return to Marietta and her mother finally gave in. But, the ranch she left wasn't the ranch she returned to. In her absence, her father, Clark, had adopted Matt, when his parents, Clark's friends, were killed in an auto accident. To Joelle, only eight, it felt she had been replaced by Matt, the son her father always wanted. Even though she liked Matt, years of resentment and hurt from her (perceived) father's favoritism to Matt, led Joelle to New York City for college and to live.
Upon her father's sudden death, she learns he split the ranch between herself and Matt. She returns to Marietta determined to sell her half. Matt is devastated; the ranch s his home and his livelihood. He is determined to find a way to change Joelle's mind and make her stay. Can he? Will she?

Joelle Winslow's parents were divorced when she was young. She convinces her mother to let her live on the family ranch with her father, but when she return's, her father has taken custody of Matt Locke. The son of a close friend, that parent's have passed away..

Joelle's has a love of the ranch, but feels that she doesn't really fit and has been replaced by Matt. As she goes off and becomes a career woman, she is forced to return to the ranch when her father passes away.

The sparks have always been their between the them (Joelle and Matt) but Joelle has always felt like a third wheel and believes she needs to sell the ranch for her dreams to come true.

Is Matt able to convince her she is right were she is suppose to be with him and the ranch? That she can have her dreams in Marietta without selling the ranch.

Note: Review copy supplied by the publisher through NetGalley. Honest thoughts follow.

I struggled with this a bit. There were some stylistic devices used in the prose that didn't work for me, like the book was trying to be cheeky or sassy and not really succeeding at either. It could also be quite annoyingly pedantic in some parts. I felt that the death wish thing was played far too forcefully, certainly often enough to make me roll my eyes. Wasn't really convincing as the main motivation that drove the whole story, but I could live with that.

At any rate, I found this surprisingly entertaining. The main characters weren't particularly memorable, but they were nice to read. I especially enjoyed meeting again some of the other Marietta folks. Very cute, despite the rushed abrupt ending.

Joelle Winslow has just lost her father. They hadn't been close. He had always cared more for Matt Locke, the orphan he had adopted. She felt jealous at their closeness. Now it was over. She could sell the ranch and go back to New York and live her dream. Why is she drawn to Matt and the ranch? Can they both forget the past and find a future together? Joelle is an interesting character. She's attracted to Matt but is afraid to trust her instincts. Matt understands her better than anyone else. However, he's worried that he's taking advantage of her. I enjoyed seeing these two interact and finally realize that they belonged together. The story was touching and the characters are realistic. As always returning to Marietta and the people who live here is enjoyable. Terri Reed did a wonderful job. Her writing is well paced and emotionally satisfying. Home For Good was an enjoyable story.

Home for Good is a wonderful, heartwarming story about following your dream and maybe finding a new dream that you didn't know you wanted. Terri Reed has a winner on her hands with the sweet story.

After her father passes away, Joelle returns home to Montana to sell her half of the ranch. Only problem is that her childhood enemy Matt, doesn't want to sell. Joelle's father raised Matt, he was the son he never had. Matt refuses to sell because it's his legacy. Joelle needs the money to make her jewelry line go global. Joelle and Matt have problems that need to be worked out. When Joelle looks at Matt, she see's the boy who her father favored over her, but as they spend time together on the ranch, their perceptions and feelings for one another change. I was rooting for Joelle and Matt and I'm glad they got their happy ending.

This is the first book from Terri Read that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Home for Good is book #5 in the Montana Born Homecoming series and is a good romance with great interaction between Joelle Winston and Matt Locke. Joelle comes back to Marietta, Montana from New York when her father is dying. Just before he dies he tell Joelle to follow her dreams. But if Joelle follows her dreams Matt Locke could possibly lose the only place he feels is home. Have I gotten you curious yet, well read this book you will not be disappointed. The more I read about Marietta, Montana the more I feel I would love to live there.

Home For Good is a marvelous story of overcoming the past. Joelle, the main character, has held misconceptions and jealously in her life for far too long. Terri Reed gives us a priceless lesson in reexamining childhood perceptions of life events. I get that she felt that her Dad replaced her with Matt, “the son he never had”, but found that to be a very selfish reaction on her part. Matt had lost both his parents; compassion not resentment was needed.

Matt is kind, compassionate and a hunk which Joelle discovers. Perhaps Joelle would have missed seeing this if she has come home sooner before she was ready to confront her memories. Who knows? Enjoyable book.

This was a twist on a very popular theme that seems to be happening a lot lately. For once, the hero and heroine haven't been longing for each other since they first laid eyes on each other as children and the hero isn't a Seal, not even a veteran. He's just a plain old Montana cowboy and she's just a spoiled little rich girl that has been harboring misguided bad feelings for most of her life. Once he understands why she never liked him growing up and she finally opens her eyes to the whole picture, well, the rest is history. The editing wasn't the cleanest it could be, but not too distracting unless you're put by someone referring to a stallion as a she... I gave it 4 stars because the characters, whether you like them or not, are believable.

I just love the town of Marietta, Montana. The people, the area- I wish I lived there. Joelle returns home from New York to be with her dad who just had a heart attack. Things haven't changed much when he wants her to go get Matt. Crushed because he always seems to favor Matt over her, just like he did when they were younger. Joelle wants to return to New York so she can start her jewelry business and leave all these painful memories behind. Her dad passes and seems to have thrown a wrench into all her plans. Revisiting the town and the people have been fun and I look forward to the next book in the series.
