In a stage of life when everything seems daunting, the fight to find love can still be the scariest thing of all – but in college senior Taylor Haney’s case, it may have just become downright deadly. I’m bad – but I don’t want to be bad anymore. In fact, leaving my Nashville life behind and swearing off love forever was the only thing keeping me from falling back into my old ways and fucking up again, and I was doing pretty well at pretending to be good – until I met Taylor Haney, that is.Now I can think of nothing but Taylor. Her shy smile…the way she fidgets with her hands when she gets nervous…the sounds she makes when I tie her to my bedposts and go to town on her…the way I get a glimpse of eternity when I look into her hazel eyes…And that little lovey feeling is the worst thing of all, because it means I’m breaking all my old rules now – and that means nobody is safe. Especially Taylor. Because the last girl I fell in love with is currently lying in Brentwood Cemetery.

Alright, guys. There is a new NA Romance author on the block and his name is Seth King. Yesterday, he kindly asked me to share a link of his debut novel, The Goode Fight and I chatted with him a bit and decided he was a nice guy and I would give his new NA novel a try. (It was $.99 and you know I cannot NOT buy a $.99 book ;) )

So, I have read quite a few debut novels and a lot of them I can't even make it though the first couple of chapters due to bad grammar and poor writing, usually. A 25 year old Mr. King surprised me. The writing is shockingly good, and the story even better.

Stellen Goode is the talk of Durham; sexy beyond all reason and celibate. Clumsy and silly Taylor Haney wants him for her own, but Stell has a volatile personality and is keeping secrets from Taylor. He scares and excites her in equal parts and she is bound and determined to make him break his vow of celibacy.

Don't you see the signs? Can't you see that I'm a monster? Don't you know what's good for you?

OK. so a few things that I really liked about this book first; I loved how the sex scenes were all from Stellen's point of view. It made it extra, I don't know, hot maybe? Yeah, definitely hot. The way he described his actions, how she felt, and the sounds that she made was extremely erotic. My very favorite of those scenes just happens to be the very first one. The cross, good lord. Whew! (You must let me know when you read that part. I need to know what you think!)

"So, it turns out Mr. Holy has a bad side after all. It's perfect: he's like a Christian in the streets and a freak in the sheets."

Stell is kind of perfect. He is gorgeous and brooding and all alpha male; my favorite kind of book boyfriend really. You know the kind? The one with MAJOR issues! (sigh) I kind of loved him. He was all hard on the outside but a big gooey teddy bear on the inside. He is sweet, thoughtful and most of all alpha and I love me an alpha book boyfriend. Whew, Stellen, you are sexy as sin. ;)

Whatever the female equivalent of blue balls is called, I have them.

I liked Tay just as much. She is clumsy and silly; loves to eat and read. What's not to like? She goes for what she wants and I do really enjoy that in a female lead.

Let us get to the nitty gritty of what I may not have enjoyed as much about this book. I really REALLY love dialogue in my books. Some books that I read just don't have enough for me, but this one maybe had a little too much. Sometimes I wanted Taylor and Stellen to skip the idle chit and chat and get on with it, if you know what I mean? LOL! Maybe I was just in a weird mood. Hah! So, basically I just felt like the book was a little wordy in some parts and that the story maybe could have moved a bit faster for my taste.

But, overall it is a really good debut novel from a very young man who I think has a pretty good future in this business. This is not a standalone novel and the books kinda leaves you hanging so be prepared for that! I do need to ask this Mr. Seth King, before I wrap things up! Do you happen to have an earlobe fetish we need to know about? There was a lot of earlobe lovin in this novel! ;)

I wanted to really love this book, but it rang WAY to familiar to Twilight, not only with the theme (girl does not feel she's good enough for the hot guy, guy is afraid he will kill her if they have sex...amongst other things), but also there are sections of the text that are almost exactly the same as Twilight. Where in Twilight Edward tells Bella his family considers themselves vegetarians and it is not quite satisfying, not like drinking her blood....well, take out the whole vampire thing and the wording was almost identical. Why then did I give this book 3 stars? Because there are other instances of the writing that are heartfelt, deep and emotional and I think this author had great potential to tap into that part of his writing and really knock it out of the park. I also wish I had known in advance that this 1. had a cliffy and 2. had another book coming. I prefer to read books in series back to back...I read way to much and lose something when I have to remember which story I am reading and when I forget important details while waiting on the next book. So Seth, keep it coming, looking forward to you writing journey!

4.5 Great start to a series stars!!

I didn't know what to expect with this book since Seth King is a new author and this is his debut novel. I was shocked at how quickly the storyline sucked me in. I struggle with books connecting to them because it has seemed lately a lot are the same story line of kink, kink, kink and NO STORY. This book is awesome bc we get some hott steamy kinky scenes BUT also a highly intense story that pulls you in an doesn't let go. I finished this morning and still hours later I'm thinking about Taylor and Stellan. I cannot wait for book 2 and see what Seth King has in store for us.

Stellan is a complex hero and Taylor a heroine we can all relate to in one way or another. AND LET ME JUST SAY I will never look at a park bench the same ever again!!!! haaaaa

Holy Crap this book is HOT!!!

I am so in love with the characters! Taylor is a loveable, goofy girl with a bit of a self esteem problem. Stellan is dark, mysterious and oh so HOT. Sounds like the typical romance but this is so far from THAT kind of story.

Here is the twist little Miss Innocent wants a piece of him, NOW! And Mr. Bad Boy is the one pulling away and saying NO! WTH!!!!

She is a little tempstress who won't stop! He wants her BAD but he cant, its too dangerous. He is too dangerous! What if something horrible happens? What if someone dies... Again!

This book grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I can't wait for more of their story. This is Seth Kings first book and I for one think he has a long career ahead of him.

Only 4 stars because you left me hanging RIGHT THERE!!!

I'm utterly displeased with the ending. What's up man? C'mon in the middle of hot scene? You nuts?
The premise was good but it turned out flat. I didn't feel any connection here.
2.5 stars .. and I wanted to give 3 but this huge cliffhanger .. um just no!!!!

Be aware this has a major cliffhanger ending. This looked like a stand alone when I started reading it, but as I got further into it I realized there had to be more. Can't wait for the next book!

Buona lettura guys!

***4.5 STARS***

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this debut book from Mr. King. I mean, who doesn't love a good scandal!?
A few pages in had me grinning at the goofy inner monologue from the awkward yet unassumingly beautiful Taylor Haney. She is definitely one female character I could really relate to. In walks Stellan Goode, resident newbie who has an innocent reputation but a brooding bad boy vibe. Sparks fly, tension builds (and builds...), and eventually it all has to come to a head. The mystery behind Stellan's past is an underlying factor throughout the story and guessing was rather fun, but actually finding out what it was even more enjoyable!
The writing was on point, the plot and anticipation kept my attention and the ending...well it left me wanting more!
I have already pre-ordered Seth's 2nd book (which is unrelated to this series) and can't wait to see what else he has in store for us :)

woah. OK I did get highly frustrated with this book. I wanted to know what the hell was up with Stell! why was he so careful when he had someone he was obviously extremely attracted to throwing herself at him? I had all kinds of theories... let's face it, some of the wording was very Twilighty. so I'm all over here thinking vampire, warewolf, something else supernatural? nope nothing like that at all. just plain ole traumatic. For a male author, this book was hot. I mean scorching. I was very impressed. There are plenty of scenes with Stellan and Taylor but they never actually "get together" and this one does end with a slight cliffhanger. the next book better burn my freaking hand as frustrated as I am with this one! all in all, really really good debut novel but left me with my grabby hands open for the sequel.

For the love of everything Holy, Stellan Goode is crazy sexy!!! This is absolutely a 5* read.
I devoured this book in a day cause I just couldn't put it down!
Stellan is a broken man that has a dirty secret and some serious self loathing going on. He is trying to walk through life as a better man, but his world gets turned upside down when he meets Taylor. A woman that is shy, completely oblivious to her beauty, and just wants to make it through college. Can Stellan keep his demons at bay, or will everything get shattered to pieces. Ladies grab a tall glass of wine and enjoy this crazy ride. I'm ready for the next chapter in their lives!!! Please don't make me wait to long....

After reading some of these previous review I was really worried that the book would get one less from me for the fact that it ended in a cliff hanger with no mention of sequel. However, after reading the book myself I thoroughly enjoyed the story and see at the end of the book that it is indicated by the author that there will be a sequel, which I am happy about because there are still some lingering questions. Like what's Taylor's secret, how did she really get the scar Stellan asks her about, and how do things go in Nashville between Stellan and his parents when he brings Taylor. I will be keeping an eye out for the sequel as well as picking up other books by this author.

Summary:
THE THRILLING, EXPLOSIVE, AND PROVOCATIVE DEBUT FROM NEW ADULT ROMANCE AUTHOR SETH KING

In a stage of life when everything seems daunting, the fight to find love can still be the scariest thing of all – but in college senior Taylor Haney’s case, it may have just become downright deadly.

I’m bad – but I don’t want to be bad anymore.

My Thoughts:

The Goode fight, the 1st book in Goode series, glued my attention to new author Seth King. I enjoyed this book because the background from Stellan & Taylor were really different from what I'm used to read in this NA books, sometimes I found some creep situations like the one with the cross ( you will get it better when you read it) but I read it in 2 hours.

NA novels are quickly becoming some of everyones favorites things to read after the whole affair of 50 Shades of Grey. And of course this book will glued your attention so easy and you'll end up wanting to have book 2 in your hands to know more about Taylor & Stellan.
You'll definitely will laugh and have fun when Taylor is planning to get into Stellan's pants and take his almost 2 year celibacy. The way she prayed for help even thou she think Stellan is a good Christian and shouldn't pray for get him in her bed.

If you have 21/22 years you'll relate to Taylor, of course she's a girl in a mission but still she is on the middle of that bridge to become an adult and learn how to deal with everything that includes that packages while she doesn't want to lose herself in the walk to the other end.

Stellan in the other hand is very good looking guy with a past, good oral skills ( you know what I mean) and trying to be a good guy but he find Taylor the one who brings bad Stellan back and he doesn't know how to control himself when she's around and she doesn't help him at all, always teasing and being a feisty girl.

But for me he was to hard in himself for what happened with his ex gf. He was just a horny teenager that didn't have his parents for support and maybe for that lack of interest from his parents he felt so bad and a murder.

What I like About the book:

- Easy + quickly to read.

- Love how author Seth used a lot of Spanish words (next time I can teach you More)

- The fact the Stellan was the one in charge of telling us how the action goes down.

The Goode Fight isn’t just good, it’s fantastic! This is a great debut novel by a talented new author. The story captured my interest right from the first page and kept me hooked until the very end.

Not only is this a well written book, but it has an intense storyline and amazing characters. I think that every young woman has a little Taylor Haney in her. She is a ‘girl next door’, unlucky in love, insecure, a bit awkward, funny, and unsure of her place in the adult world – I liked her immediately! She isn’t one of those virginal characters who is meek and mild around the opposite sex. No, she is the person who is putting the moves on a very good looking, standoffish, celibate man (I loved her various seduction techniques).

Stellan Goode is trying to restart his life. He is trying to adhere to his new set of rules – no sex, no love, be good. He is gorgeous, smart, and athletic…he is pretty much on every woman’s radar within a 100 mile radius. He is successful at keeping up with his new lifestyle until he crosses paths with Taylor. He tries to fight of his attraction to her, but he is drawn to her immediately.

The chemistry between Taylor and Stellan is steamy and intense. She is bound (Hmm...) and determined to get him into bed…or up against the wall…or on the couch…or…well, you get my point. Stellan is afraid to take their relationship to the next level of intimacy, not because he doesn’t want to, but because he is afraid of his darker side coming out. Uh oh! He is hiding something from his past. Something that could change the way Taylor feels about him.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the tension, the drama, the build-up, the anticipation, the slow burn of their relationship. The author took his time in developing the story and the characters (I appreciate that). He teased the readers and left us wanting more. There is so much more that I want to… and need to know!
I am looking forward to reading more books by Seth King. I am officially a fan!

Daddy Seth ;), Here's my review....

What I liked:

The no sex, sex scenes. You should do a training 101 session for men about foreplay and making women feel wanted.
The fact that the Stellan scenes sounded like a make perspective, I always hate when the men come off sounding like women.
The characters and their relationships. I liked that you had mostly realistic expectations of your characters and wrote them that way.
That this book had story and sexy, instead of sounding like erotica. I get bored with those books.

What I didn't like:

I think if you're writing for a mostly female market you have to reach deeper for that angst filled emotional connection the readers of this type of story want.
Get more advice on writing a female, you sort of had the opposite problem of female writers, your female sounded too male.
The ending, I wanted, craved that final sex scene. I think you should have either added that sex scene and threw in the next conflict or added the conflict as what stopped them from that final sex scene. The biggest problem with the ending is, while I bummed about not getting the final scene I'm content where the story ended and not wishing for more. The ending is the biggest reason I did not give this book a full five stars.

Conclusion:

This was a great first book. I look forward to reading Daddy Seth King's books in the future and hope to see his continued style, but only better!

This was a marmite book for me. I like it but kinda hate it and I read it in one go . It so complex . I like the hero Stellan , his character was consistent. He was mysterious and you think he was totally screwed up and I kept guessing what was his deal but the truth was he wasn't that bad. There was an accident that involved his gf and she ended up dead but you wouldn't know until the end. Its really hot too .. seriously , I guess if it was written by a male author the perspective was different.

My main problem was the heroine Taylor or the way her character was written , its confusing me to hell. She comes up to me as horny woman - who just want to nail Stellan - (ok that wasn't the norm in most books I've read because usually it was the opposite) Everytime she sees him , thats all she thinks about .. Im not even laughing because Im getting annoyed. We only got a glimpse of her attraction to him beyond physical and I really wish that this k part of the story was establish . Their strong pull beyond physical - knowing that they will brave that feeling amidst the danger of not knowing each other very well but deep down they were like magnets and they know they were meant to be.

Taylor character did get better towards the end though - caring more than her hormones . and what a freaking banana man.. who does a cliffhanger like that , it would be nice to know when the second book will come out .

First I want to say that yes I loved the book but I also got bored at times. I will start with the good first so pretty much the chemistry between these two was phenomenal. I was panting myself saying please just do it. I guess hearing a man talk about it was just hot and it felt more realistic. Stellan which I love his name was such a crazy but lovable man. The possessive attitude he had for her was brilliant. I felt as if some of the scenes with them together was animalistic which basically means hot as hell. Taylor I thought her character was beautiful I hated her friend Cara argggg she really was very jealous of our girl. But Taylor was such a giving person always wanting to be their for everyone it was so beautiful in itself.
So the bad parts well you just have so many details in the story. Honestly it was to much your story was awesome but with all those extra details that made the story stretch out forever was not needed. I can tell you are going to be very successful in writing and can't wait to read the next book.

What an amazing debut novel from a male author in a female dominated genre. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Taylor sections were written, you would have had no idea that it was written by a man. Some parts were a little to dark for my liking but that is the genre and I think it is really important to the story and how the characters will develop.

I really liked that all the sex scenes were from Stallan's POV it just added to the uniqueness of the story. I really can't believe I only paid $1.00 for this book! The writing style was enticing, the characters intense and the overall story was a good steady pace, for only a dollar!

The book wasn't perfect, the insta-love was almost to much and once Taylor makes her discovery I feel like she acted pretty reckless. However I can really only compare it to 50 Shades of Grey genre wise and I can promise you this was a million times better. I really enjoyed this and I can't wait to see where the story goes.

Where did that come from???? So was not ready for that ending. Here I was consumed and pushing further and further through the pages so I could see what happened next because the anticipation was killing me and BAM!!! There it was a cliffhanger! And a bad one! So not expecting it to abruptly end there especially after all the build up I had in me. That one pivotal moment when you are screeching thinking oh yes it is about to happen then the brakes are slammed on and nope you have no idea if it happens or not but I will say when it happens it's gonna be freaking amaze-balls. I'm seriously loving these characters and cannot wait for more. I think this is the first book I have read where the man is holding out on sex but let me say although he may be holding out the things the man does with his mouth and hands and the things he says, heck who needs sex. I'm so excited to see what happens with this relationship, their pasts and future. Squee!!!

Goode but....

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book. Even more intrigued by the reviews (good & bad). I can definitely see the parallels between this book and another popular book (which I will not name because then you'll be looking girl the similarities like I was). I thought the story was pretty good. The relationship between Stellan and Taylor was frustratingly hot. What I did not like is how the book ended. I feel there was no payoff for me or for the characters. I understand there'll be a sequel as there are still some unaddressed items but I really would've preferred everything had been neatly wrapped up. I guess I'll check out the sequel when it's released...

A HOT 4.5 star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really liked this, it is slightly different to everything else out there at the moment and the main focus point is all about stellan. I felt slightly disconnected from Taylor but I liked her character and can't wait to see her grow as a character! Stellan is all kinds of HoT and needs to embrace his alpha-ness and I can't wait to see his character grow into it!!! I defiantly will be reading the next book in the series...........

Well, well, Seth King. You have my attention. The Goode Fight is a pretty decent debut novel. It had an interesting storyline with plenty of twists and turns. (You know, I like a little plot along with the heat.) Most importantly, the book kept me entertained. I had a hard time putting it down. Yeah, so it has a cliffhanger-like ending. I'm ok with that. Just means there's a bit more Stellan and Taylor to come. I'm dying to know Taylor's secret. Aren't you?
