Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for absolutely nothing. Max only asked that if I read it, I do so with an open mind. And I did.
The taboo topic in Going Home has already been mentioned in other reviews, and it's revealed in the book almost immediately, but I'm still going to use spoiler tags in this review.
Carter, a young journalist, is heading to a remote part of Indiana to interview a couple. The couple is only interesting because their relationship is unusual, to say the least.
Carl and Matt, who live on a remote farm and raise cattle, SPOILER/TRIGGER WARNING
Carter is prepared to be disturbed by Matt and Carl's relationship. What he doesn't expect is to find two men who care deeply for one another and who welcome him into their home.
This particular taboo is NOT my kink. AT ALL. This is not the kind of book I would normally read, but I was curious, and having never read Max Vos' work, I thought I'd give it a go.
Taboo aside (that's a weighty topic that would make for a very lengthy discussion), this book is really fucking hot. SO. Ridiculously. HOT. Holy HELL. I just can't even. For one minute, I was ashamed of being turned on by something so off limits. Then I got over it.
Carter quickly becomes involved with Carl and Matt, even as he's interviewing them. We receive background information on Carl and Matt's relationship, as well as Matt's upbringing.
Vos could have taken the easy way out by hedging on the relationship, making it into something dark and distasteful, but he didn't. There was no abuse, no dub-con; the relationship was purely consensual and gently loving at that.
The taboo didn't bother me like I thought it would. What didn't quite work for me was the insta love between the couple and Carter. Matt and Carl were so close, I would think it would have taken them longer to accept Carter into their cocoon.
The writing was also not entirely polished. This is a self-published work, and it definitely needed an edit. I noticed a few typos and such.
There is also the issue of HOW exactly the interview came about; Sarabeth makes an excellent point in her review.
All that aside, this story made me think. I'm completely appalled that this book was pulled from Amazon when gems such as these, Rape Hysteria: Lying With Rape Statistics and The Homosexual Lie, are still available for sale.
Fuck the moral police!

The sex scenes are graphic. But the story is sweet and thoughtful. And the epilogue ripped my heart to shreds (I got teary-eyed, yes, I did, but don't worry, the story is mostly joyful, and the epilogue is appropriately bittersweet).
I'll be reading more by this author (the kinky, dirty sex alone marked me SOLD).

In a perfect world this could be possible, sadly we are far from a perfect world.
It was hot as hell. I was exhausted there was so much sex my head went dizzy.
The whole story was awesome I cried and was horny at the same time.
My heart swelled at all the love on the pages. All the good vibes omg I love it.....damn I want to live with them.

No, this book might not be for everyone, but it may as well have been written just for me. In this case no amount of petty technical issues or whatever the fuck else someone could come up with to complain about a book cannot take away from how special this book is. At least for me.
All time best favorites shelf immediately, and I knew it would be after the first few chapters and then it just got better.
My god this is brilliant, and hard for me to put into words because I just finished it and for anyone who has read should know why.
I don't know what else to say. I loved it. Not just kinda loved it.

I've been meaning to read Max Vos for a while now, so when I saw the content warning and the growing chatter on Facebook, I figured I'd jump on this one before I was spoiled and I'm very glad I did. This book definitely won't be for everyone and does challenge you to consider what exactly you mean when you say love is love as long as it's between consenting adults who aren't hurting anyone.
I fell for Carter straight off. Growing up knowing he was unloved, he still managed to make the best of things and is now working in his chosen field as a feature writer for a well known gay publication. He is not thrilled with his current assignment as he makes his way out to an isolated ranch in Indiana to interview Matt Evans and Carl Foltz about their chosen lifestyle, one that turns his stomach. Matt and Carl have been together for about eight years when we meet them and obviously have a loving and strong relationship. Carter soon finds his judgment of the men challenged as he observes their relationship and records their candid responses to his interview questions, and in three weeks finds his life changing more than he ever expected.
I have to admit my stomach did briefly sink at the end of the first chapter when I found out what was going on, but the story was presented in a way that makes you think. Max Vos did a good job of laying the groundwork and telling the story from each man's point of view through the interview process.
My only real issue with the story was the insta-love on the part of Matt and Carl when it comes to Carter. I could absolutely see why Carter would fall so quickly based on his past, but I would have liked to see where the feelings came from on the side of the other two men. Getting over that though, I enjoyed the story and Max's writing style. This book also contains some of the filthiest sex scenes I've ever read.
All three men are very likable and I did come to like the way the relationships played out. Max did manage to wrench some sobs for me over the Epilogue, which made me both happy and sad. I will absolutely be reading more of his books in the future.

It was a sweet story, the taboo didn't bother me at all (Matt and Carl were consenting adults when their relationship turned sexual and there was never an abuse of power or an imbalance between them), and the sex was smokin' hot! The author took great care to show that there was only love between Matt and Carl and nothing devious going on. I believed it.
BUT I would have been happier, had the relationship between Matt+Carl and Carter stayed exclusively physical/sexual. I know that I have a hard time understanding romantic relationships between more than two people. Not saying that there is anything wrong with it, just that I can't grasp it. I always feel like at least one of them should get jealous or feel left out or whatever. But that's just me. Here though, I didn't buy the insta love between Matt+Carl and Carter. It was too much too fast. Maybe, if the book had been longer, the characters would have had more time to explore their connection and feelings for each other. Matt and Carl had been so close for such a long time before Carter came into their life, that I had a hard time believing they could develop such deep feelings for Carter within this short period of time.
The plot surrounding the taboo topic was a bit lacking and at times, the story turned into sappy territory. But the epilogue was filled with so many emotions that it almost had me tearing up.

*** This story took me by surprise ! *** It is so well written, so beautifully told, so enlightening and eye-opening. Oh. My. Gosh ! I was hooked before I knew the premise.

Carter delves right in taping the conversations with the men, separately and then together. In between the question and answer sessions, Carter is learning an important message, a lesson in life, and love.
Besides the article that will be explained; Carter examines himself as well. We've been told Carter's story of never having been loved or wanted, nor did he ever have a "home". Knowing this, he was realizing why he felt the way he did on the ranch.
*The sex in this tale is powerful, raw, astoundingly explicit, rough, gritty, and amazing !
Just - WOW ! Some of the best I've ever read.

I would like to do a review for this book that would give it justice but Pacquiao and Mayweather's fight is coming in a few so I'll just make it damn short lol
I've read Dani's review before reading this to know what kind of taboo I was getting myself into. And I pretty much agree with her review.
It was FUCKING HOT. I didn't mind the taboo. It was just fucking hot. They were naked all the time which is one of my BIG turn-ons. And this author can write sex really well. I was horny the entire time reading it. Lol!
And I agree that the Insta-love between Matt, Carl and Carter was not the pace I would've wanted between the three of them. If this was only about Matt & Carl though, their pace was perfect.
The ending, This is the thing that worried me more than the taboo. Yeah it was bittersweet. But I kinda expected what happened. It was melancholic to say the least.
The thing that I took with this is that love is love. No one should hate love. It is a gift that should be cherished and not thrown away. No matter whoever it is you ended up being in love with.
I can't recommend this to anyone. As open-minded as I was, I felt that trait of mine was tested with this story.
IF YOU EVER CAN OVERCOME THE TABOO, then maybe you can read this one. I will remember this for quite some time.

I loved the description of their idyllic, if isolated by necessity, lifestyle together on the ranch. And I was almost prepared to accept the relationship and how it transpired until. . . well, putting that under spoiler tag further down.
I have no problem with insta-love most times, but I wasn’t feeling the insta-love with Carter. It came across as if they'd been looking for a third and it seemed more like insta-lust. Then later we learn that
So Carter had come there to interview them for a magazine because of their rather unique relationship. I wondered more than once how the magazine heard about them? They seemed to be very private. Had one of them contacted the mag? Why?
The sex itself, despite having all sorts of kink wasn’t erotic for me because I didn't feel the sexual tension, emotion, and passion. Also the times when
I liked the characters at first, but by the end, I disliked all three.

I did not buy this book because of the recent drama attached to it. I actually bought it (three days to be exact) before it all happened, the removal/banning from Amazon and later Are that is. I was not aware of the taboo subject matter as it was not present in the blurb but having learned it, I was still on the side of want to read this book. That being said…
Yes, this story has consensual incest in it between a father and a son… and yet that is not the whole story. I am not going to get on a soap box and tell you why I read it, why it should be available for anyone wanting to read it to have that choice. I am just going to tell you what my feelings are. Not to justify the story, but for understanding. That is what is at the heart of this story; acceptance and empathy.
The author’s writing style had me hooked as we meet Carter Roberts, preparing for an interview he would rather not have assigned to him. He finds the subject matter disgusting until he meets Matt Evans, the son. The moment he steps on that ranch and talks to Matt and later Carl Foltz, Carter starts to see where his prejudice lies and where he was wrong. Sure, it’s not a normal relationship and one I can’t exactly wrap my head around but it was told in such a way that I felt the love. I felt the shame and confusion as the story was told by Carl in the first interview with Carter. It was heart breaking to read and what follows was, endearing.
Though the story is focused on Matt and Carl, the back story of Carter moved me. It was sad to see this young man in his early 20’s without the sense of home. Without the sense of someone loving you for who you are without prejudice… again, the story comes back to acceptance and understanding. For me, it was the back bone of the story.
Matt and Carl live a quiet life and the quiet life leant to the story. For me, it was borderlines melancholy and then would ramp up to hot. It was an odd mix but if felt right and didn’t need any fancy plots or ploys to keep me reading. The story was one of love, one of commitment and one of consent. There was no abuse or some awful thing that lead these men to be with one another, they just are.
The sex, I admit that it was hot and downright filthy at times. The first time we see the couple in action, it was sexy and while it was, the author doesn't let you get lost in it, he pulls you back to reality with Matt calling Carl “Daddy”. This is what I found engaging. I have always said, tough subject matter can be read if done well. If not treated as a way to shock the reader and simply tell a story. For me, that is what Max Vos has done. This story isn’t being told to get attention for the taboo subject matter, it is just a story that needed to be told.
Going Home was an interesting read. One that made me question my own prejudices and reflect on a few things. It won’t be for everyone but for me I am glad I read it. It has the taboo content but it really isn’t the whole story and it doesn’t take long to realize that. I give the author credit for giving such a topic respect and understanding.
The end? That epilogue? It brought me to tears and yet was the only way to end the book. I like how the author brought us around full circle with it.
The only thing that nags at me; why Carter was picked for the interview? If the men lived so secluded off on their own, how people know about them. Were they approached for an interview or did they decide as a couple living this life to tell their story. I think knowing that would add another element and layer to an already well told story.
I am giving this a 3.5 stars as I would recommend it. Not for someone to tear the book or author down for the content but for someone to take a chance and push their boundaries.

I remember having a professor lecture on being objective to any article and not letting personal beliefs get in the way of telling the true story, but I bet he’d never had to deal with this subject matter.

The first time we see the couple in action, it was sexy and while it was, the author doesn't let you get lost in it, he pulls you back to reality with Matt calling Carl “Daddy”. This is what I found engaging. I have always said, tough subject matter can be read if done well. If not treated as a way to shock the reader and simply tell a story. For me, that is what Max Vos has done. This story isn’t being told to get attention for the taboo subject matter, it is just a story that needed to be told.
I suddenly realized that I no longer felt turned off by this story.
Going Home was an interesting read. One that made me question my own prejudices and reflect on a few things. It won’t be for everyone but for me I am glad I read it. It has the taboo content but it really isn’t the whole story and it doesn’t take long to realize that. I give the author credit for giving such a topic respect and understanding.
You don’t know who you will fall in love with. People shouldn't hate love, and that is sometimes all they do.
The end? That epilogue? It brought me to tears and yet was the only way to end the book. I like how the author brought us around full circle with it.
The only thing that nags at me; why Carter was picked for the interview? If the men lived so secluded off on their own, how people know about them. Were they approached for an interview or did they decide as a couple living this life to tell their story. I think knowing that would add another element and layer to an already well told story.
I am giving this a 3.5 stars as I would recommend it. Not for someone to tear the book or author down for the content but for someone to take a chance and push their boundaries.

I didn't need open-mindedness about the consensual incest while reading this book for I am not ashamed to admit I love incest stories. It gives me thrill, it intrigues me, it sucks me down like a skilled porn star's mouth, it tickles my eccentric taste for twisted tales. Specially, a father-son incest. I've been craving for such book since forever.
But why oh why I am fucking disappointed and pissed off for the magic of such "taboo" in this story, the thing that got me so excited to read this book went *pooop* and disappeared faster than a bullet train.
Now please understand I had high expectations over this book seeing as it was incest and menage so that was like hitting two birds with one stone. And you know what??? yep..it hit two and those were my excitement and enjoyment. I was waving them goodbye and at the same time grudgingly acknowledging my dismay over this book.
The urge to slam my head on the wall was so strong while I was reading this book I was surprised I didn't go with it (probably thinking this book wasn't worth the concussion). The first few pages were pretty engaging and interesting but the moment Matt let Carter bite his ass cheeks not to mention in front of his lover and Carter being a guest they've only met a few hours ago was so incredulous I had to double check if I read the lines wrong! And then the next thing I knew they made their guest walk around the house butt naked. I mean how ridiculous is that?? What came next were a series of fuckery that got me sighing, frowning, rolling my eyes and a load of letdowns that I almost wept for this book...for the BS I had to go through just because I wanna read an incest book about a father and his son.
I would have been a little mollified had they claimed it was just lust (even at least the first time) that made them molest a fucking sleeping man but the moment they spouted about love and shits towards Carter and Carter doing the same I was ready to throw away my laptop because are you fucking kidding me????? Did you forget one day is 24 hours not 24 minutes?
I am no fan of insta-love, so much more as stupid as what happened in this book. I wasn't taking it. Nope nope nope! So unrealistic and ludicrous! There was no time for the love to develop because they forced it, consumed it and decided it was enough. But it wasn't. Well, for me that is. The thrill I was feeling at first over Matt and Carl got tuned out. I couldn't feel it anymore. This book became just like any other menage books there... Goodbye taboo! Until we meet again!
So you see...I didn't like this book. The pros: this highlighted and made me think about my own prejudices that I weren't even AWARE existed, so that's a good thing. Thinking about how far and what limits we are all willing to dictate on what happens in a consentual adult relationship is fascinating and I appreciate the opportunity for self reflection. I'd like to think I came out of this one more open minded than I went in, but i'm not sure. The author obviously paid great attention to just how to deliver such a subject matter. Great care was given to handling the taboo in question.
The cons: It exploits the "shock value" at the same time asking you to take an emotional trip of discovery. Once you acclimate, or are able to accept the "taboo" of it, to me, the story was kind of meh. (The same attention in handling the relationship defined and described in the book does not carry out to back story, or plot - my biggest being the premise of the entire article. The relationship is very hush hush, how did it get so "big" to not only warrant an interview, but who sought out whom? Who benefits from the resulting article, how did the interview even get set up, for instance, it's not as if the guys in the book were "seeking an audience" after going into what basically equals "hiding", etc?)
But again, am I saying that because the writer in me is analyzing it, OR, am I just that prejudiced? MORE SELF REFLECTION.
And that's the genius of the story.

After the shock of the big "taboo" reveal wore off, the story just didn't hold up very well, for me. Take out that element and it was just a ménage story.

I think Mercy Celeste's excellent novel 'Beyond Complicated' ruined me for this kind of plot.
Edit: After reading the full novel, I'm adding one star, because of the excellent erotic fiction that is this book ;-)
I mean, this story is REALLY hot and even a bit on the kinky side for my taste.
The epilogue is just heartbreaking.
Still, I missed the emotional reasoning behind this type of love. It felt rather insta-love to me, despite the circumstances. And adding Carter as their third was a decision that I didn't fully understand. He just made the sex more interesting, but that was it.
Still, this is definitely an interesting and extremely hot novel if you can digest this kind of theme.

This was a re-read for me.
This book was hot as hell, and I enjoyed reading every word of it. Journalist Carter Roberts was required to interview Carl Foltz and Matt Evans for an article on their lives. Carter did not want this assignment it made him sick to his stomach. Carter judged Carl and Matt before he met them, because like most people the subject of incest bothered him. During the course of the interviews he learned that Carl who was the father did not go into the relationship lightly he was sick about it in the beginning as well. Matt has always loved his dad and meeting in a club and after giving each other blowjobs and learning that they are father and son and that each of them were gay was a shock to both of them. Carter saw that they really loved each other, and then one morning he woke up to someone pushing into him Matt. This was my first time reading this author, but not my first time reading this subject matter. This book was well written and I loved how the author was able to get across all of the emotions that these three felt for each other. The sex scenes were hot ass hell this was a book that I couldn't read in public or around my kids, because it had me throbbing at times, and the bacon fat lube was interesting to say the least. Reading about Carter's past and how lonely and alone he felt was very heartbreaking. With Matt and Carl he found love and a since of belong that he didn't know that he was missing he went from his boring life and sex life to being comfortable in his own skin from when he first got to the farm and being uncomfortable to learning that he loved two men who were father and son and his nudity. I loved reading this story this is going to be a re read for me and I will definitely be reading more of Mr. Vos's work. If you are not afraid the taboo of incest and you are looking for a good ménage love story I would recommend that you read this book. This book was pulled from amazon and all romance although I don't understand why I have bought books of this nature and more from both of these site. This book had pretty much any kink you could want, short of water sports and BDSM. Incest, rimming, felching, snowballing, DP, you name it. Parts of it felt like a really raunchy porn flick, and parts were syrupy sweet, with sex the second day, and declarations of love soon after. I did feel the father/son thing was decently done. It doesn't really bother me, so long as everyone is a consenting adult.
The sex was smoking hot, so long as man smells and sweaty balls don't turn you off. It’s not something I personally care to do (or smell, or lick) but it was sure hot to read about.

So i'm not going to touch on the taboo subject here (everyone has already mentioned it) except to say that this is a taboo kink i really enjoy and i thought it was written beautifully.
So i loved this book for its sexiness, sweetness, romantic moments and gorgeous kinky dirty (literally) sex. This sex was seriously hot, not just for the obvious kink but because it was gritty in the i love sweat and masculine hairy man sex way! Also there was a nice little surprise towards the end, which i won't spoil for you ;)
Since this book was a novella the romance between Carter and the main couple was very rushed and they feel in love with each other very quickly. i did like that this was a polyamourus relationship, i wasn't aware thats where the book would go when i started reading it. The characters were all well written and the depth of their relationship's, all individually and together was wonderful. Honestly though the reason this book is really 5 stars instead of 4 was the way the taboo kink was approached and all that hot sex!!

I put this book on my Amazon list of books to buy a week or so ago. I didn't buy it right away because I have a huge list of already purchased books that I haven't yet read and I have been trying to exercise a little bit of self restraint. That never lasts all that long when it comes to books, but I do try, on occasion.
I knew about the taboo subject matter () and while thinking about it makes me a bit uncomfortable, I do admit, I also like push my limits a bit every now and again and sometimes I even find a perspective that I had not previously considered and, in that, I think my own life is enriched even if I still do not agree with the viewpoint when I am finished.
Well, someone or some people decided they know best what people should and should not read and reported this book for content to Amazon and ARe. Both retailers pulled the book. Now, not much pisses me off more than being told I'm not allowed to decide for myself if a book is appropriate. I am an adult and have been making decisions for myself for a long time now. Also, the 'taboo' subject matter in this book is between consenting adults. No minors, no dub con, no violence, no rape (and plenty of books are readily available from both retailers in question that are full of rape, dub con and violence (sexual and otherwise) against minors and others). I can't express just how much that pisses me off.
So...as soon as Max Vos made this book available for sale on his website -- that's right, I bought it. It's my decision and I go into it fully aware of what I am getting. Bitches.
Ok, now that I have read the book, I can say that, while the stated taboo is not, nor would be my thing, I do feel that it was handled quite well and once I was able to get past the taboo nature of the story (which is revealed in the first chapter), I found Carl and Matt's relationship very loving and, actually, healthy. It was clear just how much they cared for one another and their relationship, while unconventional, didn't feel dirty (in the bad sense of the word). Oh, the sex was hot HOT HOT and dirty, sure, but good sex always is, yeah?
The story is told from Carter's POV, since he was the journalist that was sent to write their story. The one thing that was a bit iffy to me was the complete and total insta-love. They went from super hot sex to 'I love you forever' really really fast. But beyond that, I enjoyed the story, even when I had to work though my own discomfort. And, wow was the sex hot. Seriously hot. Have I mentioned that, already? Well it's worth repeating.
Obviously, you should skip this book if you think you can't get past the taboo nature of Matt and Carl's relationship, or if . Otherwise, I'd recommend it. This was the first book by Max Vos I have read, but I look forward to reading more.

What a wonderful surprise this book was. I've not read anything by Max Vos before and reading the blurb I was expecting it to be kinky, I chose it for the taboo theme, but it was way more than that. I loved that Carter found his home with Matt and Carl and the journey he took to get there. I'll definitely be checking out more books by the author.

Ce livre est un véritable coup de foudre en plein cœur. Pour plusieurs raisons. D'abord pour le sujet qui peut, certes, en déranger plus d'un, mais l'auteur ne fait pas son apologie, bien au contraire, puisqu'il rappelle un principe fondamental : on ne sait jamais de qui on va tomber amoureux et tant que cet amour est vécu entre deux adultes consentants, cela ne regarde personne d'autre, mais eux. Ensuite, parce qu'à travers cette interview réalisée par Carter, on comprend qu'il ne sert à rien d'avoir des avis préconçus ou des préjugés sur des choses dont finalement, nous ne savons rien.
Enfin, pour tous ceux qui ont aimé les précédents livres de Max Vos, n'hésitez pas. Je vous le recommande vivement. Ce livre est un concentré de ce que cet auteur est capable de vous faire ressentir dans ses écrits, multiplié par cent. First to the subject that may indeed disturbing some readers, but the author makes no apology for that, quite the contrary, since he recalls the fundamental principle that you never know with who you will fall in love and when this love is lived between two consenting adults, it's nobody else but them. Then, because through this interview with Carter, we understand that it is useless to have preconceived opinions or prejudices about things that ultimately we know nothing.
Finally, for those who liked the previous books of Max Vos, do not hesitate. I highly recommend it. This book is packed with what the author is able to make you feel in his writings, multiplied by one hundred. Yes, it's still kinky, yes his men are still sexy, yes it is hot, burning even, but behind it there is so much underlying love between the three men, so overflowing tenderness it's almost surprising by the pen of a man. I would describe this novel like an history whick slips Under your skin.
I highly recommend it and for now, for me, it is undoubtedly one of the best Max Vos's.

Le journaliste Carter Roberts s'est vu obligé d'interviewer Carl Foltz et Matt Evans pour un article racontant leurs vies. Ce n'était pas une affectation qu'il appréciait : il voulait juste y aller, la faire et repartir. Penser à ce sujet lui retournait l'estomac.
L'interview en révèle autant sur lui-même que sur les deux hommes et, pour la première fois, Carter apprend ce que c'est vraiment que d'avoir un chez-soi. Il ne se serait jamais attendu à ce qu'une rencontre avec ces deux hommes puisse changer sa manière de penser - et sa vie - pour toujours.
Ce livre est un véritable coup de foudre en plein cœur. Pour plusieurs raisons. D'abord pour le sujet qui peut, certes, en déranger plus d'un, mais l'auteur ne fait pas son apologie, bien au contraire, puisqu'il rappelle un principe fondamental : on ne sait jamais de qui on va tomber amoureux et tant que cet amour est vécu entre deux adultes consentants, cela ne regarde personne d'autre, mais eux. Ensuite, parce qu'à travers cette interview réalisée par Carter, on comprend qu'il ne sert à rien d'avoir des avis préconçus ou des préjugés sur des choses dont finalement, nous ne savons rien.
Enfin, pour tous ceux qui ont aimé les précédents livres de Max Vos, n'hésitez pas. Je vous le recommande vivement. Ce livre est un concentré de ce que cet auteur est capable de vous faire ressentir dans ses écrits, multiplié par cent. Okie dokie then ... fair warning ... I have come to consider Max Vos a friend via our lengthy chats on Facebook so I am probably not objective ... having said that, if I hated the book I'd most probably pretend I hadn't read it to spare hurt feelings so I'll leave it up to you to decide how to take this review.
Incest ... a taboo that I've read about before and have often been left bereft by the reading experience ... either the author has written a plot-less porn-fest or has skirted the line between consensual adults and child abuse too closely for my comfort ... Max wrote a story that clearly showed two adult men making informed, adult decisions about the parameters of their relationship ... that sentence very dryly and unemotionally describes the underlying premise of a kinky fuck fest but I felt it needed to stated clearly given some of the squeamish comments that have been made about this story ... the fact that the main characters are closely related is almost incidental when you allow yourself to stop focusing on their shared DNA and instead read about the love these two men have for each-other.
On the plus side ...
* Did I mention kinky fuck-fest? ... these boys are just nasty in the best possible way
* I like the fact that the men were bears with hairy bums and chests ... I know other's like their gay porn smooth but I find 2 smooth bodies + sweat = stucktogetherlikevelcro which isn't sexy at all ... chest hair stops you sticking together even if you may need to de-fur afterwards ... but that's just one of my personal kinks lol
* Having Carter interviewing Carl and Matt was a great way to fill in the back story without boring the reader ... I especially loved getting both sides of the story ... I think this helped quell any lingering concerns I had about the propriety of the relationship and allowed me to relax into the story more fully
On the down side ...
* Insta-love ... not my favorite plot devise ... I much prefer insta-lust that develops into love ... I'm not saying there isn't insta-love in real life, just that I personally prefer the suspense of a developing connection rather than an instant one
* Dialogue ... I found a few parts of the book a little stilted ... nothing major and I probably wouldn't mention it when reviewing an unknown author but, in a way, I'm being harder on Max because I feel the need to be more critical to prove my objectivity ... still love ya tho' babe
* Introspection ... I needed the characters to spend a bit more time thinking about the consequences of their new relationship ... especially Carter ... the epilogue helped to a certain extent but I love the suspense of reading about a characters inner debate as they weigh the pros and cons of taking the leap into a new future
In summary ... this book contains lots of hot, gritty, dirty, man-on-man sex ... unlike a lot of 'for female readers' smut, there is a coarseness to the couplings that will possibly squick some people out ... Max writes gay erotica as a gay man and if you find sweaty balls a turn-off, mebe you should read something where the main character is a chick with a dick ... personally, I find Max's style refreshing and although I have a weak spot for the sanitised version of gay erotica that is becoming popular, I also enjoy the realism and authenticity that people like Max bring to the genre ... I'd recommend this book to anyone broad-minded enough to see past the taboo to the love story this book is really about.

Holy crap...how to write down everything I'm feeling right now???
The premise was awesome...and a little disturbing. But I usually like edgy stuff so I kept going and I wasn't disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it for people with taboo issues or who don't appreciate intense M/M sex.
Carter is writing an article about Matt and Carl and their very unconventional relationship. At first, Carter is shocked and a little repulsed but as he gets to know these 2 awesome, hairy, burly men; his feelings deepen into something more.
He starts to feel love, lust and most importantly, a sense of family. This developing relationship is truly heart-warming and the epilogue totally did me in.
The sex is uber raunchy and I loved it...lots of rimming, feltching, double penetration, cum sharing and even armpit smelling. SO HOT!!!
The only negative comments I have are that I wish the story was longer and more detailed. Some of the dialogue is a little forced and stilted and the insta-love is very sudden.
