Huggans possesses a flair for recreating loose events from her own vacation misadventures fused perfectly with a hearty dose of clever fiction. You will smile, laugh out loud endlessly while attempting to solve a murder mystery.

Spattered with sarcasm, quick hilarious banter you will find yourself continually amused by the dynamic personality of Victoria. The chemistry and comedic quibbles Victoria and Julie share demonstrates Huggans humoristic talent not to mention her timing and placement of the highly entertaining droll. This dyad is charming and makes for nonstop fun. When Victoria’s former love enters the picture the action, adventure and amusement triple. Wonderful characters matched with endless slapstick.

The characters dominate the narrative, however the narrative holds its own. Despite the insertion of hilarity the plot is a murder mystery filled with its share of twists and turns – keeping you guessing until the very end. A narrative offering a magpie surely appealing to the reader – romance, comedy, mystery, adventure, action and even murder.

Outlandish Victoria will leave you wanting more, more of her and more of her flippant manner along with her prompt retorts. Huggans’ talented style accompanied by her colorful characters will leave you hooked, I cannot wait to see what awaits Victoria in the next installment. A book guaranteed to charm the reader.

Copy received from the author in exchange for an honest review

I love a smart heroine who does not quite have it all together, and Victoria Douglas definitely fits that description. The book is a fun, entertaining read with a suspenseful romantic flair. If you enjoy Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, you will love these books too.

Victoria needs a vacation form her job and her non existent love life. She gets a junk mail advertisement for the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts. She calls her BFF, Julie, and off they go for a week of fun in the sun. Things go sideways almost from the beginning when Victoria attempts to stop an escape from the police station where she is in the process of getting a tourist driver's license. The baddie trying to flee is Jamil, the island's biggest baddie. She is now on his radar and lots of trouble ensues. Along the way Victoria reconnects with her college love, Alex. That situation did not end well the first time and she fears for a repeat this time around too. Alex is some kind of an agent and is up to his neck in drug runners, missing DEA agents and a mysterious object worth $100 million to the Columbian drug cartel, and Victoria is in the middle of all of it. When Jamil turns up dead, Victoria is the #1 suspect.

This book has a high quirky factor and is wonderful for it's cast of eccentric characters and off beat sense of humor. The romance is definitely of the cozy variety, but the story was fun anyway.

A book with something for everyone - romantic comedy, fast-paced action, murder and mystery. The plot, which although with some clever twists and surprises, could border on being a bit ordinary, is however given a double dose of verbal Viagra in the form of sharp, snappy dialogue and brilliant characters, that makes the story stand up and be noticed until you're begging for more.

What should be a dream vacation in the Carribean, quickly turns into a serial nightmare when two girls are caught up in a case of mistaken identities, resulting in a dangerous cocktail of drugs, guns and goats.

The main character, Victoria, is quirky and instantly likeable. The banter between her and her completely mad, best friend, is what really shines in this book. The love interest has a hard time competing with her. Readers will easily get hooked on Leslie Huggans' lively style and if you do find that you're begging for more, don't worry, the second book in the series is on its way to sate your literary lusts.

`Twenty years as your friend and I still never know what is going to erupt from your mouth.'

Leslie Huggans makes an impressive writing debut with a humorous romantic mystery. She works for a global corporation and spends her free hours with her cats, and with her imagination in her travels around the world - with a special emphasis on the Caribbean for winter holidays (which means she must live in the colder climes of the USA - she doesn't tell us her home port...).

So much of the impression of a debut novel lies in how the author decides to step into our conscience. Leslie obviously is brimming over with a keen sense of humor and a realistic look at life around her so when she opens her SEVEN DAYS AND SIX WORST CASE SCENARIOS with the following paragraphs, she has already created a magnet for all readers (especially those who love Chick Lit): `If I hadn't been fighting for my life with beer cans, bug spray, and pent-up aggression as my only weapons, you probably wouldn't want to read about me. After all, a thirty-something woman with two cats and a boss who can't keep his hands off his crotch is rarely worth noticing. But, this woman was gunning a stolen SUV up a mountain goat path with a monkey in the back seat screeching "Kek-kek-kek." His owner was screaming something about his own head colliding with the roof. My friend Julie was in the passenger's seat ordering me to slow down. Good thing I was accustomed to people complaining about my driving because we had much larger issues than my dislike for the brake pedal. The order for this Caribbean vacation crap-sandwich was placed when a travel magazine addressed to me, Miss Victoria Douglas, landed on my desk during a particularly bad day. I looked at the cover and called the only person I knew I could count on. Julie Tran had been a loyal friend since middle school. One feature story about St. Kitts, a short conversation with Julie, and a few Internet clicks had me vomiting in the toilet at work. I'd just spent my mortgage payment on a plane ticket.' So we know Victoria pretty well and the adventures that follow balance perky mystery with ebullient humor. The author's plot synopsis is adequate to make us read on - `Victoria Douglas, a crisis consultant, and her investigative reporter friend, Julie Tran, have landed in a Caribbean vacation bursting with murder, narcotics, and one gorgeous piece of man-flesh. College flame, Alex Marshall, professed his love and disappeared without a trace. Twelve years later he materializes at Victoria's resort on St. Kitts and he's got more charm and sex appeal than ever. Tingling lady bits and long-buried feelings aside, Victoria discovers she and Julie are at the center of a criminal conspiracy involving one Jamil who, bad though he is, ends up murdered and Victoria is the suspect. That coupled with a missing expensive broach is only part of the major crime problem, one in which Alex becomes involved to both help and conflict Victoria's feelings. The girls have one chance to prove their innocence before competing nefarious factions feed them to the fish...or worse. Victoria has to decide just how far she is willing to go to save her life and mend her heart.'

Leslie's droll wit and terrific way with dialogue make this a novel that should accompany any airplane ride. `Chick Lit' may be the classification, but that is definitely NOT a negative in today's reading market. She has a running start with her terrific Victoria character - with more adventures to come.

The first thing I want to do is thank the author for giving me a copy of Seven Days and Six Worst-Case Scenarios in exchange for my honest review.

Victoria needs a vacation but really can't afford it. She decides that she and her best friend, Julie, are going anyway, so off they go to a Caribbean Island to relax. Or so they thought. Things start to go wrong for Victoria almost immediately when she tried to stop a man who is trying to escape from the police station. This man was Jamil who was the baddest of the island's bad guys! In order to keep his bad guy image, Jamil can't let Victoria's actions go unpunished. Before you know it, Victoria had become a regular at the police station. Since she was always around when something went wrong, she was the one that got blamed.

Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, it does. Victoria runs into an old flame, Alex. Since that romance didn't end very well before, she didn't want to see him again - ever. Alex has a different idea though and wants to see Victoria because he still has deep feelings for her. Alex tells Victoria he works for the government at a desk type job but he is really an agent. When Victoria gets into trouble with the law, Alex is there because he is tracking the drug cartel believing they are responsible for missing DEA agents. Also, everyone is trying to get a missing broach worth $100 million. When Victoria finds Jamil's body, she is suspected of his murder.

Huggans had me laughing from the first page to the very last. She also works some very heartfelt and touching moments into this remarkably unique tale. Her writing style is smooth and the story flows steadily forward. The story line itself was captivating and unique. She had me guessing throughout, especially about who was a good guy and who was a bad guy. I loved the way the author kept the reader involved in a serious story but added humor throughout.

Even though I really enjoyed this book, there was so much to tie up at the end that it seemed a bit rushed. Or maybe I just couldn't keep up. There was a lot going on in this story and everything did get wrapped up pretty well at the end with just enough questions that I am anxious to read the next book about Victoria.

Even though Victoria drove me nuts sometimes, the good outweighed the bad in her and I really want to find out more about her. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like thrillers with humor.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This book was incredible! I loved everything about it- the mystery, the adventure, the incredible wit, and the diverse characters.

Main character Victoria and her best friend Julie are headed to the Caribbean for a relaxing, well-deserved vacation. They quickly meet taxi driver Mr. X, who is one heck of a character. In the police station to get a driver's license, Victoria witnessed a criminal escaping, attacking a female police officer on the way out. She responded by hitting him with a folding chair. The next day or so, Victoria and Julie find his dead body. They are suspected in his murder and soon realize someone is trying to frame them. Meanwhile, Victoria's ex boyfriend from college, Alex, is also on the island and it turns out, somehow involved with the case.

As I said, this book was just fabulous. I loved Mr. X's personality. He was probably my favorite character. He refers to himself in the third person and does a bunch of random stuff to make money- selling Mary Kay and charging tourists to pose with his drunk monkey. Julie and Victoria were both smart and feisty in their own unique ways. I think it's fascinating that Victoria had a job envisioning worst case scenarios and it's fascinating to read about how she can't "turn it off." Alex was your typical mysterious, flirtatious, good-hearted love interest. He wasn't my favorite character, but no complaints. His clumsy, clueless friend, Ben, provided a lot of laughs as well.

The mystery was well-written and believable. It keeps your attention the whole time. I felt like the book was longer than most, but I never lost interest in it. There were some plot twists as well. The girls were put in some crazy situations, but never lost their senses of humor. Seriously, this book was witty! I would highly recommend this book to fans of mystery, comedy, and chick lit! I will definitely read the sequel!

WOW - That's all I have to say about Seven Days and Six Worst-Case Scenarios. I must say, It's rare to come across a book that combines mystery, humor and romance all in one. This was a delightful read that really helped take my mind off of my own reality for awhile, and actually put a smile on my face. Kudos to Leslie Huggans for being able to write such a great novel.

The main character, Victoria, is amazing. She is both humorous and extremely sassy as well. Her sidekick is her bestfriend, Julie. Julie is pretty nonchalant and will do anything she is told. Mr X and Alex were also involved, both pretty intriguing characters.

The overall storyline and plot was a lot of fun. There were some confusing parts to the book in general, but I figured it out after re reading it over again.

Can't wait for the next book in this series to come out!

This is a mad cap wacky comedy type of book. Not really my favorite but I enjoyed the characters so much I didn't care.

I didn't love the ending or the romance. Especially how those two tie together. Victoria and Alex were apart for so long and we barely see them together long enough to root for them when they are torn apart yet again. It all happened so fast and off page with a bit of a cliffhanger ending. I guess I wouldn't mind so much if the next book was coming out very soon but it's hard to stay invested in a romance we saw so little of. Which is too bad because they had smoking hot chemistry and banter.

Recommended if if you like sitcom style plots with quirky characters and a touch of romance.

I was skeptical of this book because this genre isn't one I usually read. My sister told me I had to read it and I'm glad I did. Clever humor and entertaining plot twists turn the characters' vacation tale into a full-fledged mystery that will keep you both laughing and wondering what's next. Never a boring moment in the book. The characters are super funny and the dialogue is superb.

Unfortunately, I'm in the overwhelming minority! I was not as enamored by this book as nearly every other reviewer. Initially, the book blurb seemed like a no-brainer for me when the author offered to gift this book in exchange for an honest review. Who isn't willing to be entertained by a light-hearted story with "hilarious banter" and sarcastic sassy wit? I love this form of entertainment! I like slap-stick as much as the next person. I love quick wit and random facts. I love to laugh!

Enter reality... I did not find this book as funny as others. It is just plain silly. Not a good silly, but a ridiculous silly -- absurd and irrational. Fiction isn't necessarily meant to be realistic. When one attempts to combine a romantic comedy with murder, mystery and suspense, you're not going to end up with anything remotely realistic. And I can roll with that. This, on the other hand, was a bit too ludicrous. The main character, Victoria is all mouth and little thought. Her sidekick, Julie, is all emotion, mostly anger and I-told-you-so, and no personality.

Though the book is well-written, or rather, I should say, well edited, the story, moving from one silly coincidence to another and then another (apparently six of them), had me skimming to get past meaningless, seemingly rhetorical dialogue, to find remotely logical action. This is just senseless gibberish.

When others liken this to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, I will now have to review my to-read list to possibly remove those books. My apologies to Ms Huggans for not being able to sing praises for this debut novel. Dear fellow readers, take caution when deciding whether to dive into this book. Hopefully, you will enjoy and be entertained by this nonsense.

‘No good deed goes unpunished’, is what starts off this whole crazy book. When Victoria tries to stop an escaped criminal, Jamil, he needs to get back at her, and being one of the more important criminals on the Caribbean island paradise, he can do a lot to spoil Victoria’s dream vacation.
It goes from bad to worse for Victoria when she meets Alex, an old lover who left her with a broken heart many years ago and they both have unrequited feelings for each other, Alex more so than Victoria. Yeah it’s a fairly common romance plot, but it works because of the snappy dialogue which isn’t sappy or annoying, but is snappy and is bound to make you chuckle at least a few times.
And then things get even more exciting for Victoria when she becomes the prime suspect in a murder. This woman just cannot catch a break, and it seems like half the island is hunting for her. Fortunately she has a perfect accomplice for all the drama in the form of Julie her bff, who helps keep things light on the few occasions where Victoria seems to be getting a bit too overwhelmed.
The characters are well done, even the serious Alex doesn’t leave you thinking he is boring or totally wrong for Victoria. And Victoria is a delightful main character who you will be rooting for the entire time. The dialogue is seldom dull, and even the most basic conversations seem energetic, you can really feel their excitement in this. And the plot is fast paced, interesting and while some of it is clichéd, it uses the cliché to help the story so you can easily get into it like a comfortable sweater.
I can’t wait for the second book in the series.

**Received a copy of this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in exchange for an honest review.**

I will DEFINITELY be reading the next book in this series! I have to know what happens to Victoria and her crazy, long-lost lover!

Victoria decides she needs a vacation. Her first clue that vacation was not going to go as planned is when she tries to help stop an escaped criminal as soon as she gets to her Caribbean Island getaway. Now that she's on a bad guy's radar he's trying to take her take down. When he ends up dead, she's the first suspect! Throw in a complicated love story full of heartbreak and disappointment with an ex-lover who is up to his eyeballs in missing DEA agents and is in the possession of something valuable to the Columbian drug cartel and you've got a recipe for vacation disaster!

The banter between Victoria and her old flame, Alex is one of the best parts of this book for me. The characters are well developed and will have you laughing out loud. The mix of Victoria's dry wit and Alex's seriousness proves that opposites do attract and that some flames will burn forever. Poor Victoria cannot catch a break during her island adventure but there is never a dull moment in this story! With lots of double-dealing and plot twists, you'll be hanging on the edge until the very end.

I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!!

I was in the mood for something a little sexy, a little rambunctious, a little tropical, with a shot of mystery. Seven Days and Six Worst-Case Scenarios: A Humorous Romantic Mystery was a great fit.

Victoria, the main character, was flippant, sassy, and hilarious. Her best friend Julie was the perfect sidekick with her go-along attitude. Mr X reminded me of a tropical version of Mr. Chow from the Hangover movies (one of my favorites). I struggled with Alex some – he was a little aloof and I felt like his wit should have matched Victoria’s just a bit more. I would have liked to see a little bit of devil in him.

The plot was engaging and had lots of twists and turns. The beach scene towards the end got me a little confused as there were a lot of characters popping in and out and a lot of connections made between them. I confess – I had to re-read a few pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to the next one in the series – Leslie Huggans has a gem with her Victoria Douglas character.

Seven Days and Six Worst-Case Scenarios: A Humorous Romantic Mystery by Leslie Huggans is a great book. The author kicks of her series Victoria Douglas Vacation Mysteries with a roar. This book has a little something for every reader. It has romance, comedy, action packed thrills, mystery and much more in just one book. This great read provided a wonderful escape for me and my normal life. It was a thrilling ride with quirky, loving, sexy, and gorgeous characters, which takes place in exotic locals and presents a great story. This author provides for a fast paced and action packed story, which is at times funny, but still serious enough to make for a great thriller. I am hoping to read more in this series and hope they have just as much to offer.

Seven Days and Six Worst-Scenarios: A Humorous Romantic Mystery (Victoria Douglas Vacation Mysteries Book 1) by Leslie Huggans is a 271 page novel. It has thirty-eight chapters, no titles just numbers, an epilogue and an author bio at the end. I was happy to see that this is going to be a series. I loved the location in the Caribbean.Huggins writing is terrific. It is full of personality, it is smart and sassy. Every ingredient I look for in a book. You cannot go wrong with that combo. I loved the quirky well defined Victoria Douglas character, pretty much everything about her. She is believable and genuine, and would be a blast to have as a friend! I enjoyed the relationship she has with her bestie Julie, it is a real hoot. Terrific book. I will be watching for the next installment.

Leslie Huggans has a very vivid imagination when it comes to concocting worst case scenarios. I think her characters stumbled into everything St. Kitts had to offer and usually came out worse for it! I did love the idea of sticking maxi pads on the bottom of the feet while walking barefoot - brilliant!! It was a fun read, with the over-the top situations, and characters and lots of double-dealings and twists. The plot was a bit far-fetched but definitely worked. There are quite a few characters so make sure you remember who's on what team before the climax. My main concern is what happened with Alex and Victoria - I'll have to read the next one to find out more!

This is an adventure all wrapped up! If Victoria and Julie thought this Caribbean vacation was going to be smooth sailing, they were wrong. Everything goes wrong as they get caught up in a crime ring, not only that but Victoria’s college boyfriend, Alex is there too. It has been twelve years since Alex disappeared on her and now she has to deal with old feelings resurfacing.
I can’t believe how entertaining this book was. Most romance/mystery novels are so predictable, but honestly this one is pure fun and has a lot of humor too. I would recommend this book, it’s an easy read and I can’t wait for more from Leslie Huggans!

What a great book! I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review, but I will be buying more books by this author. This was one of the most entertaining books I have read in a long time. There was a mystery, a little romance, and a LOT of hilarity. I laughed out loud when the heroine and her friend ended up shoeless on the side of a mountain and came up with an ingenious solution to protect their feet. Every time I think of it, I laugh again. Loved it!

Made it straight to my favorites shelf. I enjoyed this book immensely. Dry humor, adventure, hottie love interest. What is not to like? And I would really want a good friend like Julie. She was really something.

At the end the plot became a bit complicated for me with all the names and goings on, but I was sad to see it end.

I hope Leslie writes fast so I can order the next adventure.

I now know two people who have written books. Seven days was entertaining, quirky, and took me back to my college friends. I love that a Wendy (she's one of my favs in real life too!) was incorporated into the book. Reminded me of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Quick, easy read.

I think this would have been better if I had gotten to know the characters a bit before they started finding themselves in crazy situations. Or caring about Victoria's relationship with Alex.

Once things came to light it made a bit of sense, but it had already been too much going on for me to care.

It was supposed to be a comedy, and maybe some of you will find it hilarious, but it just didn't do it for me. It just seemed like two supposedly smart women finding themselves in bad to worst situations. With Julie being a journalist, I thought that they would be more insightful. I was wrong.

Where are the 1/4 stars or 1/2 stars? Barely a 3 for this reader

Oh how I wanted to like this book. Oh, how I was hoping that I would have a laugh out loud book with mystery, suspense and most of all humor. All I got was a jumbled storyline, way too many characters and outside plot lines, definitely not enough humor or even a believable love story. Such a disappointment. It had potential, but the author just took it in the wrong direction.

It's a mad mad mad mad vacation!

Lots of action, monkeys, goats, and blondes. Farcical and light-hearted, except for the awkward romance, which felt either contrived or auto-biographical. But, overall a very fun romp.
