I got this for free on Kindle so I really shouldn't complain... but I will anyway.

First off, this is so damn short. I flipped 5 pages and I'm already 20% down with hardly any information and just a sex scene. Yeah, very captivating. Not.

And it's supposedly categorized as a romance, an erotic one, but nonetheless a romance. Yet, I don't know what definition people have of "romance" but it is definitely not matching up to my idea of "romance". A romance takes time to build, for people to understand each other. All Luke and Brina or whatever her face was named did was take off each other's clothes. I wish I could say something about how Brina is a terribly sweet person and Luke is just this awesome guy who wants to comfort her but I don't know jack shit about them. Yet, people are calling this a classic romance book. What? Did I miss something here?

The second series of this book is a whole 8 pages longer for a dollar. I could buy a 250 page book for a dollar and it'll take me more than 10 minutes to read it. Definitely NOT worth coughing over money just to read people tearing off their clothes and then regretting, which is what people call a romance. If it was for free, I really wouldn't mind if it's 40 or 10 pages. But it's not free.

No dear, this is a hook up, not a freaking romance, one that has been deleted off my Kindle.

Oh boy it's my nemesis again - the dreaded volume. I hate when an author breaks up what could be a full length novel into 'parts'. Just do one book instead of making me pay for multiple volumes. Drives me nuts.

But I digress. What I partly dislike about this is everything is so rushed. If it was a normal novel it could've been done really well because the premise is really intriguing. But because it's a volume everything happens way too fast and you don't get a good plot. Even the relationship didn't excite me because, again, it's too quick for you to get a feel for the characters and why they make a good couple.

Had the potential but fell flat. I probably won't read the others unless they go free like this one.

So, I'm still sat here trying to make my mind up about this book. It's the first part in a series of very short novellas. In fact I think they aren't even novellas. Anyway, I don't mind the length, sometimes short instalments can be just what you need, when you don't have the time for a long read.
Now, I absolutely love what I have read of author Cassia Leo's so far. Her writing is gripping, and her characters are totally addictive. This still felt like one of her books, from the style of the writing. It is sharp and packs a punch. He sex scenes were intense and smoking hot!
It had potential to be amazing, but I felt like there was one thing, that kept me from becoming fully invested in the story.
The speed at which things happened. It felt like chunks were missing, or maybe I had picked up the second book instead of the first one.
It started off great, Brina is going for a job interview at the biggest, most lucrative, most innovative computer company in America. She already works at the competition, she had risen up and earned herself the position she has got, but she wants a promotion. She needs a promotion, to help out with her family. She has her reasons. To get the promotion she has to earn it, get a position at the opposition, and be a spy.
But from the minute she meets billionaire CEO Luke Maxwell, who also happens to be the hottest eligible bachelor in America. Things go a little crazy, and get a bit confusing. Don't get me wrong, the writing is still fantastic, and the characters with their secrets and bad memories, have the potential to be amazing. But, it seems to jump at warp speed, and get a little confusing at the same time.
I'm not sure why Luke is practically jumping on Brina within seconds of meeting her, I know she's gorgeous, but he literally pounces on her with little to no conversation before hand. By then I'm lost, the sex is fantastic, but I can't concentrate on the hot scenes, as I'm still trying to work out why, and how come.
By the end of the 30 something pages, I'm baffled and not sure what I think. I wanted to love it, and parts of it I still do. But I also wanted it to slow down, and build up to things, rather than jump in with no real explanations.
I will still read on to the next part, as I feel I want to understand things better and I'm hoping it will make more sense. The characters have some secrets and pain they are holding on to, they should be coming out soon enough.

4 stars, because the potential is still huge.

1 out of 5 Stars

I bought the whole series as Audiobook. I really shouldn't have.

I get that this is a novella, but each book is extremely short. The plot sounds tempting enough, but the execution is awful. Not at all what I expected after having read an exceptional book from the same author only months ago.

Why do I not like it? There is no build-up or anticipation at all. In other words, the main characters have wild sex on the day they meet (just like that, a millionaire CEO sleeps with an employee on her 1st day) and fall in love with each other after the third day. End of part 1. Right... not exactly believable in my opinion. I just kept eye-rolling throughout the book.

The only thing that makes it worth reading is the books steam-factor, but to be very honest, even that come to the rescue of a crappy book.

Sorry, but I'll pass. Well, I did spend $12 on the audiobook so I'll listen to it until the end but it doesn't bode well...

"Be careful what you wish for, it just might turn you into a selfish bitch"

I give this series a 4.5 STARS! There is just something holding me back from giving it a full 5.

Luke: Part I Mirror is free on Amazon, Click Here

I started reading this while trying to pick my next read. I have had Part I of the Luke Series: Mirror on my kindle for a while and just clicked on it to read the first few sentences and well, went all the way to the end in one sitting. These are short reads but I purchased the complete series set after the first so it was like a full length novel.

Brina is a Cornell graduate working with NeoSys which is the 2nd best software company . She gets promoted to Competitive Intelligence Officer...AKA....a Spy.

Her assignment is to get the password for "BLAZE", the greatest innovation to hit the industry since the internet. BLAZE is being created by the number 1 company, Maxwell Computers, owned by the young billionaire  Luke Maxwell. Brina is applying to be his executive assistant.

Luke isn't dumb, he knows there are people out there trying to steal his software and his programs. I mean come on, he's a giant nerd, HOT NERD but a nerd....he's smart!

Brian and Luke have an instant attraction but do wither of them know if the other is playing the other?

The obvious happens, the fall in love.  Brina is faced with telling him the truth and losing everything. Both jobs and the man she has fallen in love with or to go through with the original plan.

Brina had a brother that killed himself 7 months ago and is extremely affected by it. This tragic incident is what draws Brina and Luke together. She isn't the only one holding something back.

Oh, I have to mention Milo....Milo works with Brina at NeoSys. He has had a crush on Brina since they met and well...we find out Milo has a few tricks up his sleeve...in more ways then one...wink wink!!

After the big reveal, things don't go so well....of course...what kind of book would the man just say, "Oh OK  I know you love me and its OK that you were trying to steal something I have worked so hard on" NO, too too boring.

Here is were I think I took my .5 stars away. Six weeks after the reveal, BLAZE is being revealed at a conference that Milo helps Brina get into (see Milo rocks) well when she gets there, she sees Luke with a beautiful blond kissing...NOT GOOD.  He apparently started dating her as a rebound but his feelings turned more serious for her. She was a good person and beautiful but....She wasn't Brina. I guess I was just like WHAT THE HELL that he could move on that fast. Seriously, you say you loved Brina that much and you just jump in bed with someone else...HUH, no, I think I would have like to see him suffer, kinda like she was.

WELL....The story gets really good after that. They  try to become friends and take a "timeout", at first it didn't last a day but then they were determined to show the other that they were serious about one another, that it was just about the sex....Man, did they have a hard time with that one.

The story starts out being told in just Brina's POV but eventually we get to see Luke's POV as well, which I love!!

This series really pulled me in from the start. At first I was kind of like "DAMN GIRL, don;t waste anytime do you?" but then....who wouldn't with a man like that!

You can really feel Brina's pain. She has so much responsibility, I would be in a pickle as well.

Throughout the series, we watch their relationship go from HOT, to UH OH, to OH COME ON ALREADY, to AWWW!! LOL, best way to describe it. Without giving away any spoilers, the ending was great! There is definitely a HAPPY EVER AFTER!!

I really liked how the Author wasted no time. There wasn't any wasted time in this series. Both characters got right to the point. Yes, at times I wanted to scream at Brina and say TELL HIM ALREADY but of course that would be too boring....shoot, even Brian was yelling at herself in the story!

Cassia Leo really knows how to captivate you from the start.  Her characters are all likable and real.

As a side note, I want to add something about the Author's Note in the end....

Cassia Leo lets us know that she is no stranger to suicide. She had a fellow classmate jump off a hotel during class across from the school. Her classmate actually survived a little after the jump and was able to tell this woman his name. She mentions how she always wondered how that woman dealt with that. She also had a friend who committed suicide years later and wonders if she could have done something to be a better friend and stop it from happening. This is what made her characters for this story.

I definitely would recommend this to anyone, it had a little bit of everything. I laughed (their banter is hilarious), I cried (poor Brina and her Brother Ryan, and I smiled at their love A LOT!!

This is definitely one of the fastest moving stories I've read. Part 1 of the 'Luke series', Luke, rich & gloriously handsom, single, owner & CEO of one of America's Computer Companies. Not sure how these guys can be single when they are so fabulous, but I suppose they are all just looking for the right woman.

Brina, young sexy single, but not what she seems. Spying for the oposition, but secretly nervous & looking forward to meeting the hottest eligible bachelor in the USA & possibly the world.

The hot sex scene's happen really early in the story. Which raises flags for me that Luke may know what Brina up to & has a counter plan of his own in place. Not sure how she's going to deal with this & all the passion that they have, when they have only just met. Can see some real trouble on the horizon for them.

But then it wouldn't be much of a romance story if it ran smoothly. Bring on part 2, of this series of short stories.

Well, I can say one thing for sure, I need to know what will happen next. Author left a couple of hints that made me wonder whether Luke knows the reason why Brina applied for the position or not. I will most definitely continue with this series.

I received this series free on Amazon and I can see why. First off, each part is really a novella, so I'm glad I have the entire series. Talk about fast paced! I've read fast paced books, but this one takes the cake. Brina is a "spy" from a rival technology company who is trying to infiltrate Luke Maxwell's company. She is told to do whatever it takes to get the information. Within the first 30 min. of meeting each other, they are having sex. Who the heck does that. They literally said 5 sentences to each other! Why couldn't there have been a little bit more character development before throwing them in the sack? Let's see where the series takes me from here.

3 stars!

This could have easily been 4 stars or even more, should this have been continued and stopped at a later point..

Though, I'm not sure how this whole thing started for the two.. I mean, they were both just there and then..

I was like..

description

Even though it was steamy, I wasn't that hip on how it came to happen or how they suddenly were on each other like that!

Liked the writing style, though. It kept me flipping pages ;)

This was an awesome introduction to the Luke series!! This is the second book that I have read from Cassia and I am loving her more and more! The characters are sweet and have that special something that makes you want to keep reading more. I was on the edge of my seat as the story continues and was sad when part one ended. I can't wait to read more of this series!!

" Be careful what you wish for, it just might turn you into a selfish bitch. "

I quite enjoyed this.
Very fast paced. But not so much that you couldn't keep up!

"Holding hands is like giving someone a mini hug"

Unsure what I think of these two yet. Although I like Brina a little more after the last page!!
Time for number 2!

Disappointed...

When I read a book I like the characters to be created and crafted so that when clothes are flying off, it makes sense. There's no build up, no flirting, no bonding or substance in either character
(Lucas/Brina.)
I really think if this was an “erotic romance" these people would have at least had some flirtatious banter. If it were a "romance" I still believe a foundation should be laid. People can have casual sex all day long, but when there's not even superficial layers to build on, why would one want to get naked multiple times?
This was also very short, as many others have stated. Its been in my Kindle for some time so I decided to read before I even read reviews. This series of the volume variety with seven parts. This first volume should have created the layers and I'm terribly disappointed it didn’t. I feel terrible for this long rant, but creating a volume set with seven parts., where it's mediocre at best, infuriates me. I don't mind paying for books in a volume set, been there done that for 24 books, because there was a story begging to be heard.
