“The story moves very quickly...its difficult to stop reading as you, the reader feel swept up in the drama and building suspense. This writer has obviously been to the cities and the country he speaks of in the book.” Robert Chambers
“…I liked the process of reading. I mostly liked the style of the writer…” Richard “R.D.”
“The second book by Hunter Blacke was every bit as suspenseful as the first book! I could visualize with vivid details the action sequences as I read from page to page. Who knew a game of chess could bring in so much substance. Looking forward to another one!” Raymond Chou
Hunter Blacke Sometimes described as a 'Fixer' Early in life Hunter began exploring the corners of the world learning the respective cultures, and their differences. Enjoying the connection, Hunter choose his professional base skill-sets in the Tourism Industry.
Blacke was very intrigued by the, corporate, political and economic flavors representing the world's developing countries. Hunter fitted into the process as a tourism economic advisor, while exercising covert business and political intelligence gathering for hire, governments and corporate.
The thirst for suspense and the interesting people met, drove Hunter deeper into the community of intrigue, danger, suspicion and clandestine operations. Bordering the good and the bad was not always an easy task. The time was well masked within the cover of everyday professional work in Tour and Travel.
Until recently, nothing ever was discussed with family and friends about the numerous foreign trips,or,their purpose. Now semi- retired, the drive to put on the table some of the experiences, albeit primarily fictional accounts for obvious reasons, creates the perfect theatre to draft small abstracts from a life- long passion for serious adventure and thrills.
Hunter's specific assignment was the spread of democracy, and protection of individual freedoms. An advocate for freedom of expression, and the pursuit of personally set goals continues to be his guiding compass.
There were a total of 3 FIVE STAR Goodreads ratings for this "book". I suspect at least one was by the author himself while the other 2 by friends. Suspiciously, there are no written reviews. There is no way, no how I can give this book anything other than a single star or less! I picked this book up via Amazon simply because I needed a suspense, mystery or crime novel based in Kazakhstan. His books are part of a multi part series, set in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and I think Russia. I needed them to fulfill my Challenge. I should have gotten a hint what was to come when I read the author's blurb. It is also a convoluted mess where both the author and main character are Hunter Blacke. He claims to have visited each subsequent Country and did through research on each. Oh MY! The book is so badly written, it was painful to read. I had to skim the entire thing. It is reads like an unedited rough draft written by someone not fluent in the English language. It is full of poorly written sentences or paragraphs, and the grammar is horrible. The dialogue is also poor. Further, it reads like a Wikipedia textbook with the "plot" inserted in as an afterthought. I am sorely disappointed. I was looking forward to checking off both Armenia and Azerbaijan off my Challenge list by reading more of the series. I doubt that will happen now.
