Tyler was too broken to love. His family had destroyed him with lies, then sent him away to be fixed. Could he trust again? He wanted it all, but knew that there were always secrets.

West wanted someone to love, spoil, and protect, he just hadn’t found the right someone. Nobody had piqued his interest until he spent the day with Tyler, and all the pieces he was missing started to fall in place. Tyler wasn’t sure about going out, but that was okay. As long as Tyler didn’t send him away, West would wait for trust to build.

Both men were missing parts of themselves, but might they together form a whole? If they can pull off this balancing act, there might just be a family here, including two men, a couple of cats, and a wee dragon that can’t help but wear his food.

Approved is actually book 5 of A Dragon Tale although this one is being marketed as The Dapper Duck Book 1. Dragon Tales are contemporary MM stories with dragon pets the size of cats. These adorable creatures can pet pets or service animals. In books 4 and 5 the pet dragons are much more freewheeling and mischievous. Tyler’s dragon may be a comedienne, but Tyler is a timid young man who has gone through the horrors of parental homophobia and conversion therapy. West is older, single and a successful businessman. He owns a high class gender inclusive bar (The Dapper Duck) with light food service and waiters in black and white uniforms. West is instantly attracted to Tyler, but Tyler is afraid of everything and can’t understand why West would want him. When Tyler was sent to conversion camp by his own family, he ran away and has been struggling to get by ever since. Although he now owns a flower shop, even that is about to go under. Only his wee dragon Eral helps him heal with the stress of just living.
This book is about West and his gentle attempts to win Tyler over with Earl providing comic relief and can be read as a standalone.
I have read all five of Dragon Tale books and loved them all. Can’t wait for book 6. Still waiting on a wee dragon of my own

I thoroughly enjoyed Tara's Dragon Tales series which this book does relate too. Another well written storyline with such great characters. I felt the character development was detailed enough to really bond with them, enabling following their journey even more enjoyable. Tyler has been through so much especially from his family so West has to be patient with him to get him to trust him and he was perfect for the job!!
I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review

I absolutely loved the characters of Tyler and West! 🫶🏻 Their connection was truly 🔥, it was so easy to get hooked on their story. The author's writing style was fast-paced and the narrative was brief, leaving me wanting more. I'm always a sucker for romance and character-driven stories. This book is an absolute must-read, I think you'll love it too 👀. I'm already thinking of book recommendations for my friends! #RomanceBooks #MustRead #BookRecommendation

We have Tyler and West. West is an owner of a bar. Tyler's an owner of a flower shop. They meet each other when Tyler's van of flowers breaks down in front of West's house. West finds Tyler cute while Tyler remembers West as one of his high-school bullies. We soon find out that while West never bullied Tyler he did stand by and was friends with Tyler's bullies. West explains he stood by because he was afraid his friends would also bully him if they found out he was gay. While they get past the bullying it's revealed that Tyler has more trauma besides the bullying. So while they get together their journey is not over.

It's explained that when Tyler came out as gay his family pretended to be supportive but soon had him dragged out of his house at night by staff of a conversion camp. This is both heartbreaking and traumatizing. But that's just the start of his nightmare as a camp counselor soon starts continously r*ping him during the nights. Saying it's to get rid of the devil. I started crying when West read Tyler's journal and when Tyler himself talked about what happened.

Reading about Tyler's healing journey was emotional. During his journey West shows his support and love. West is also supportive of Tyler going to therapy and even helps get Tyler a support animal when Earl (Tyler's pet dragon) doesn't make the cut to be a support animal.

Overall I recommend reading as it's a story that details what i'm sure has happened to others in real life and brings attention to how harmful conversion camps are.
