Making Costume Jewelry: An Easy & Complete Step by Step Guide

Rate this book
The first thing you need to consider before you begin the process of learning how to make costume jewelry is what type you wish to make. The best way of determining what style of jewelry you want to make is to look through various magazines and see what's on offer in stores locally. It's also a good idea to gain inspiration for your costume jewelry designs by visiting museums or art galleries. You may even gain inspiration for your designs when out for a walk.

Beginner jewelry making with lousy photos

This book is for the beginner who wants to learn the basics of jewelry making. It tells you which tools you'll need, along with what supplies you need and places to find supplies. There are several projects that you can make.

The step by step instructions can be a bit confusing, especially for an absolute beginner. The supply lists are very basic and don't always give types of wire or quantities of beads. These are important things to know as the beginner does not have a stash of beads or extra wire and will need to know exactly what to purchase. It's a bummer to get part way through a project only to find that you are short on supplies.

Not all of the procedures have photos and the ones that do look absolutely horrible. They are unfocused and bleary. It's hard to see the work in detail. I, like many people, learn better by looking at pictures than following instructions.

The information is good for a beginner but the presentation needs work. I probably will not reference this book again as none of the projects interest me. I am giving this ebook three stars for the reasons I listed above.

Not what I expected....

This purchase was a waste of my time. Thought I was purchasing a book with examples of patterns and designs for easy jewelry making. The majority of the read was about the different types of materials and beads.... the examples giving wasn't clear..... wouldn't recommend to anyone except a person thinking about making jewelry for the first time.

Good information

The book gives a lot of knowledge on tools you will need in jewelry making. Color photos of tools. Only a few patterns.I

Poor

Only the most rudimentary information. Just Blahh. Waste of time. Required to post exact number of words? What is that?

Interesting

I think there could have been more pictures especially into the pattern sections but there was a wealth of information about jewelry making I had not considered.

I liked the information found early on in this book. A lot of it I had to learn on my own, so it's nice to see it finally in a book. Definitely a good one for beginners. I wasn't too fond of the projects later on, but, again, good for a beginner. Worth a read for sure.

Ok

Very informative in the beginning about the different tools, beads, thread, wire, clasps, etc. However it would have been nice if they could have put better and bigger photos of the finished product.

Where are the pictures?

Why are there so few pictures? Any book about jewelry making should include a wealth of beautiful photos. Instructions are good enough, but those can be found most anywhere online these days. The book is incomplete and I would never buy the print edition.

Good read for basics and ideas

I like that it covers the basics, but also gives details on the types of items. It's good read for anyone looking for ideas or learning.

Thought there would be more designs of jewellery in this book, mostly about tools required and materials needed, disappointed 😞

Wouldn't recommend as most jewellery makers starting out are looking for ideas to start them off this book don't offer this, looking at the cover, you would have expected more pics of different pieces of jewellery,
