Highland Wolf Pact #1

Highland Wolf Pact

Rate this book
Sibyl Blackthorne isn't afraid of anything--except maybe being sold into marriage to a man she doesn't love. A man she's never even met. A man who, by reputation, is one of Scotland's cruelest lairds in over a century.

But what choice does she have, with her father dead and her uncle now married to his brother's widow, putting him in charge of not only the Blackthorne fortune, but Sibyl's future as well?

Then her betrothed turns out to actually be far worse than his reputation, so headstrong Sibyl decides life as a peasant, or even death, would be preferable to a future with such a despicable man, and makes plans to run away.

On an organized hunt for wolves--or, as the Scots call them, wulvers--Sybil escapes her fiancé's clutches, only to find she's run into something far more untamed and dangerous in the middle of the woods.

When a big, brawny, long-haired man, who only speaks to her in Gaelic and calls himself Raife, simply picks her up and carries her off with him into the Scottish wild, Sibyl knows she's in trouble.

When he takes her to a place no human has ever been, she knows she's gone over the edge.

And when he, at last, marks her as his own, she discovers that only one wild heart can claim another.

A highlander in wolf's clothing...

You mix a Highlander Historical with Paranormal and you have mixed two of my favourite sub-genres in romance. I love this combination. A man in a kilt is hot, add that he growls, is possessive and super protective, well that is VERY appealing. I really enjoyed this tale and thought the narration was done extremely well, especially his Scottish accent.

Another winner with the Audible Romance Package.

I feel proper Scottish after reading this. So much so, I've spent the day bursting into spontaneous (and terrible) renditions of 'Donald where's yer trow-sers'. But please don't let that put you off.

This is historical story and paranormal too, two things I normally avoid, but I love Selena Kitt's smutty stories so I was fairly confident that even if I wasn't into ye olde historical romance or the transforming into wolves thing, the smut would make up for it. I really wasn't expecting to love the history and paranormal elements as much as I did. I was completely immersed in the whole world inside this story, I absolutely loved it.

This is the story of a spirited girl - Sibyl - who is promised to a vile, controlling brute by her nasty old stepfather. She quickly decides she can't marry him and tries to run away, aided by a huge, ripped and gawjus man out in the thick of the forest. Well actually, turns out he's half man, half wolf - a wulver. Raife is the leader of his wolf pack and so can't tie himself to just anyone. And her deserted fiance (the nasty vile brute) is still looking for his missing bride and he's a sworn enemy of the wulvers.

I loved everything about this - the chemistry between Sibyl and Raife sizzled;it's a real slow burn with a scorching payoff. The whole world of wulvers living in a secret lair hewn from the centre of a mountain in Scotland, all wearing kilts and speaking Gallic was really well developed, a whole community of fascinating characters I was totally immersed in. The plot had lots going on to keep me interested all the way through, it was a bit like reading a fairy tale - albeit a decidedly grown up fairy tale.

This is a complete story, no cliffhanger but there will be more in the series. I really recommend this if you're looking for a love story you can completely engross yourself in.

Another home run for Selena Kitt!!
home run

When I heard there is a bonus epilogue and a preview to the sequel, I had to buy it. Although I did receive an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, I read the one I bought from Amazon and it was totally worth it.

Highland casting

I'm not going to regurgitate the synopsis for you so I'll just get right to it. I loved it! I think Selena Kitt farts good stories in her sleep. Seriously! Does she even have to try? I'll admit that I haven't read her entire backlog yet, but I'm slowly working my way through it. What I have read is amazing and this one ranks right at the top. However this is VERY different than the other things I've read from her so far. By different, I mean this is an historical, Scottish highlander, paranormal, shifter romance and not the typical delicious naughty stuff that I'm used to from her. Don't worry my horny little readers... there are still fantastically delicious sex scenes in this one too. Just not as many.

alpha wolf

I think what I loved most about it, is that Kitt stayed true to the time and puts some of the ugly facts about that time period in her story... and it was a good fucking story! The character and world building are stellar and I never once got confused as to what or who I was reading about. Sibyl and Raife are magical together. Their love and romance was a steady and slow build and when they finally sealed the deal, they didn't come up for air for 3 days. Raife is very protective of Sibyl but she is the kind of girl who can take care of herself. Of course every girl needs a hottie alpha wolf keeping an eye on things.

I also loved all the side characters. Laina, Darrow, Kirstin, Donal.
wolf love

Alistair... this is all I have to say.
stab your face

"We are what we are. That's what Raife said and it was true. They simply were. Animals were animals, humans were humans and wulvers were... wulvers. They were all God's creatures."

Overall, I loved it. This is a good start to a series and I can't wait to read the next one!

I ignored the overall reviews. Usually I don’t, but a few of my favorite reviewers gave Highland Wolf Pact a decent review so I decided to give it a go.

Oh, so embarrassing, but I did search for erotica books on amazon and this series popped up. This is NOT an erotica book. It’s a NA with a one or two steamy scenes, but it’s a long book and a lot of descriptive writing happens before you even get to steamy stuff. I was really disappointed in that.

On that note, I liked the idea of a PNR book mixed with historical fiction. The premise of the book had promise but the execution was lacking.

The book was too slow and dragged too much to get to the good bits. I found myself skimming the overly descriptive parts just to get to the action. I also didn’t care for the wolf / English politics and oh goodness there were pages and pages of that. I just didn’t care!

I think I went wrong with this book by looking for smut and I got something else. I think this book would have been better in audio and if I wasn’t in the mood for smut.

I just don’t think this series will be for me.

This was a pretty good story. Raife and Sibyl were both characters that I liked and wanted to get together. I loved the fact that the story combines wolf shifters with with historic Scotland (the very early 1500s).

Sibyl is an English noblewoman but wishes she wasn't. She was born the only child to her titled father so he raised her more boyishly, learning hunting, fishing, riding (not side-saddle) and other skills like that. Unfortunately, Sibyl's father died and her uncle married her mother, becoming her step-father. He sold her off to a Scottish Lord for a bride and expects Sibyl to behave like a proper Englishwoman...something she hasn't been all her life (and hates being).

Raife is a wolf shifter and the leader of his clan/pack. They're born shifters that change from human to wolves. They've known much hardship and have retreated deep into the mountains to keep themselves safe from the humans. They have a pact with the King from 20 years ago that should be keeping them safe but their neighboring Lord isn't keeping his end of the pact and has begun to hunt his people.

Sibyl is sent to the castle of her betrothed and doesn't like him at all. He's a slime and it's clear, although he tries to hide his nature behind a mask. Sibyl has no interest in being his wife and think she'd be better off on her own. When she's forced to accompany him on a hunt (one which she's not allowed to actually participate in) she takes a small satchel with some provisions in it, hoping she can steal away. Things get a bit convoluted when she finds that he is even worse than she thought, having captured a female wolf shifter that's pregnant and intending to kill her. Sibyl ends up freeing the shifter and is hoping to escape herself but gets caught up by Raife. He ends up pretty much just taking her with him but she's ok with it as long as she is able to escape the men pursuing her. She sees some weird things during the escape but thinks she must have been hallucinating them due to stress (although she soon finds out they were no hallucinations).

Sibyl wakes up to find herself in a room that is also a cave. She soon realizes that the shifters live in caves in the mountains so this is quite normal for them. She first thinks to escape, especially when not everyone is as pleased for her to be there as some. Raife offers her sanctuary (promising none will hurt her while there) and to escort her wherever she'd like to go if she does leave. Sibyl thinks she might know of a place she can stay and plans to leave soon but a medical emergency comes up and Sibyl is able to help as it's something the shifters don't usually have to deal with. Raife tries to convince Sibyl to stay and she realizes that she likes it there (and likes Raife) so she agrees. She's actually there for a while before things escalate between her and Raife but they do finally come together. Of course, just when they do, drama has to go down to mess things up. I actually wondered why Sibyl took the actions she did because to be honest they were rather TSTL and she was a smart heroine for most of the story so she should have known better. Her actions inflame the conflict some but things do get resolved well and the story ends with Raife and Sibyl starting their HEA together.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked both Raife and Sibyl and was happy to see them get together (and work past the issues around them). This was mostly a romance but there is a bit of action in it that keeps things interesting. The story wasn't perfect but there weren't any issues that were too major and I really just loved the Scottish/shifter crossover. I'd recommend this story. :D

I stumbled across this book in searching for a Highlander romance in the Audible Romance Package, and I grabbed it up because the blurb sounds so unique and different and even though I hadn't ever heard of this author before, I am always up for trying out a new author and I was hooked pretty quickly.

The story begins when Sibyl Blackthorne, is betrothed to a Scottish Laird that is rumored to be one of the most cruelest of them all...a man she has never met. But Sibyl has no choice in the matter, and so she attempts to make the best of it. While accompanying her bethrothed on a hunt with his men, she comes across a beautiful wolf trapped in a cage...a wolf that is very close to birthing pups. And learns that her bethrothed is planning on killed this animal cruelly including her pups, and Sibyl has to make a difficult choice. She sees the true character of her betrothed and so she takes quick action....releasing the wolf and shooting her bethrothed with her bow and arrow. She is then rescued by a black wolf and taken to a secret hideaway of caves and she discovered that these aren't normal wolves...they are known as "Wolvens" part human and part wolf. Sibyl knows that she has no choice but to stay in these caves, because her life is in danger but the longer she spends time with these Wolvens, the more she becomes attuned to them in friendship and feeling a part of their pack including her growing feelings for their leader....Raife.

What a story that this turned out to be and honestly I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did especially when listening to a new narrator and author. However I feel like this book is one of those undermined treasures that gets overlooked. The plot of the story was so fascinating and I was pretty addicted to their romance. The world-building of this story is so superb. It takes place when King Henry VII is in charge, and I found the historical elements really intriguing. There is something so much more fascinating in reading a historical/paranormal mix. Then we have elements of a evil Scottish Laird that is going behind King Henry's contract with the Wolvens to kill them. We see some build up in politics here especially in the clan politics and I found many dynamics that come into play here.

We also see the difference in the Wolven clan, seeing how well Raife treats his people. He is not only the strongest of them, but he is also the most level headed of them all. He sees the bigger picture and doesn't react out of rage. He knows how important the pact with King Henry is, especially since he knew how much his parents sacrificed for it to happen and he refuses to let their sacrifice be for nothing.
“King Henry wants lands an'titles, like all the English."
"What do Scots want?" she asked, glancing over her shoulder. Darrow was far more sure footed than she was.
"A good woman, a warm bed, and food in their bellies." He grinned at her and she couldn't help but laugh.”

The romance that builds between Raife and Sibyl was most interesting and one of my favorite tropes. It involves a slow burn romance, with a bit of forbidden love and enemies to lovers. Wolvens and humans don't like each other at all. And especially Raife's brother doesn't like her even though she has saved his mate twice (his mate is the wolf she saves in the beginning of the story) and also it isn't highly looked upon for the leader of the Wolvens to mate with a human. But Raife has had no interest in a mate until he meets Sybil. And yes this is most definitely a slow burn romance, which I loved seeing because we see their relationship become more through each chapter. But boy does their story mess with your emotions at times. Because they both really like each other and even come to "love" each other, but Raife keeps pushing her away because he isn't sure that he can have her due to his responsibilities. But basically Raife has to fight for Sibyl and his right to be with the one that he loves. I found I couldn't put their story down, and seeing them finally fight for each other, even if it is difficult at times for them both emotionally and seeing them finally find that love and claim it was purely satisfying.
“We are what we are. That's what Raife said and it was true. They simply were. Animals were animals, humans were humans and wulvers were... wulvers. They were all God's creatures.”

The narration of the story was simply superb....he is very new to me, I have seen his name around a bit among Highlander romance audiobooks such as Vonda Sinclair, Amy Jarecki, Susan King and Madeline Martin. He handled the Scottish Brogue so well and I loved his inflections...they seemed just right. So great job and I will be looking for more books that he has narrated because I was impressed.

I highly recommend this book especially if you are a member of the Audible Romance Package because its a treasure!!!

Then her betrothed turns out to actually be far worse than his reputation, so headstrong Sibyl decides life as a peasant, or even death, would be preferable to a future with such a despicable man, and makes plans to run away. Being alpha is lonely and taxing. Catching wind of the bride being delivered to his enemy peaks his curiosity. One look at Sybil and Raife is hooked. I loved this book and if you love hot sexy shifters and some steamy erotic romance this is a book for you. I love reading Selena's books they are always hot and steamy and well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Highland Wolf Pact was a nice enough read, but I since I read a lot of historical romances (and highlander romances are a particular fave), I thought the heroine's way of thinking was quite modern and didn't quite fit. What also didn't exactly fit was that she was a tomboy who could hunt like a pro, was a capable midwife at her age (which I am guessing was around 18-20, though I can't remember exactly), and has studied plants and herbs with an apocothary. It made me roll my eyes a bit at how convenient it all was. Outside of this it was an enjoyable enough read, I'll look for the next one in the series

Highland Wolf Pact was a very entertaining read. The story contains some of my favorite reading elements. The first being werewolves, the second being big/strong men, the last is big strong men in kilts. Yep, the combination makes reading fun but a solid and entertaining story makes it better. The author has achieved this with a boneheaded over protective highland wolf and a English bride that is headstrong and full of spunk. Throwing in a cowardly dill hole as the villain and his cowardly minions makes the read even better.Happy Reading Everyone!

a one of a kind wolf read - a page turner from beginning to end

I'm not a fan of historical romance so I was skeptical about this book. Within one chapter I forgot all about th time period. This book was just wonderful. It was steadily intense and I adored the characters. I look forward to reading more in this series. Well worth its current listing price of .99. Can't recommend this enough.

Solid writing, good 3D characters. The worldbuilding was a little thin (I like my historicals to feel... well, historical), but there are good bones to this universe that will probably get me to return for book two. So why only 3 stars?

Highland Wolf Pact by Selena Kitt Sibyl Blackthorne is sold into a marriage to one of the cruelest men of Scotland, Alistair, Laird Lachlan MacFalon. While on a hunt for wulvers, Sibyl attempts to escape her intended marriage with the help of, Raife, a man she meets while on the hunt, but Raife isn’t exactly a man, he’s a wulver, better known as a werewolf.

Sibyl is a brave and worthy heroine. I like that her dad taught her useful skills like properly riding a horse and knowledge about plant life. As a result, she can fend for herself and be a stronger person in a society and time that does not value female independence.

Raife is a commendable leader. He tries to do what he feels is best for his pack. He is strong and caring. I found his history intriguing and original.

Selena Kitt did an exceptional job with character development. There are a lot of individuals in this book, all are interesting and well-thought-out. The emotional aspects of this novel are all understandable and considered. Kitt did a great job with the Scottish brogue. I like that Sibyl started to pick one up by the end of the book. After living there so long, that would likely happen.

The plot was fascinating. The historical aspects were finely honed. The story was well-written and believable. Highland Wolf has the perfect balance historic fiction and paranormal romance. I was happy to learn there will be a sequel.

I really appreciate this book and the werewolf mythology it develops. I haven't heard much of shifters' stories that involve drastic difference between male and female, and Highland Wolf Pact does it very well, drawing an interesting comparison with women's condition in that era, and the length some women are ready to go to to free themselves from the limitations nature and society force upon them. That was easily my favorite part of the story, and it opens a world of sequels to write on this quest to freedom. I hope to see them soon!

This said, the romance side of the book was enjoyable, with its use of horrible betrothed and strong hero in all the right places. Sybil is a fierce and smart woman, making her a perfect lead, and she doesn't wait to be fully recognized as the alpha's mate to show the self-sacrifice of a leader for the greater good. Since we only have Sybil's point of view in the book, I sometimes had a hard time fully understanding Raife, as much as Sybil herself, but it didn't prevent me from enjoying their romance. I wished there had been a couple more chapters of growing tension between the two, but it is already quite enjoyable as it is.

As I've said, there's plenty of room for other books, not only on the feminist side of the story. Characters like Darrow and Laina, or Donal and Kirstin would make great protagonists for futher books, the later raising a lot of new questions in human/wulver mating.

This was a good story and a new adventure.

I didn’t much like staying in Sibyl’s head because of her thoughts sometimes going on and on stuff but I like her character. Brave, stupid maybe making rash decision, but she has a hero complex. Stubborn and wild. Very strong character considering the era. --- is just the kind of alpha that you need. All muscles and oozes sexuality. He’s a pacifist, too.

Well my thoughts are more subjective. I did like the story but some part and words were not understood by me. It’s just a preference. I mean, they’re in Scotland and kilts are so hot but since I have a hard time understanding the conversations, well it’s a let-down. And the Gaelic was, it was not sexy really.

This was a really unique look at werewolves in medieval Scotland, and quite a departure from the contemporary erotica I'm used to reading from Selena Kitt. We start off with a fairly common story of an English woman betrothed to a cruel Scottish laird...and that's where the commonality stops. Rather than being rescued by a rival laird, Sibyl is instead taken in by "wulvers" or werewolves, whose leader becomes enamored of her. I won't give away the rest, except to say that this was a nicely balanced story with both the steam we've come to expect from this author and some action added to the mix.

Looking forward to reading the rest of this series!

While I love the relationship between Sibyl and Raife there still seemed to be something missing. I would like to have had more of their background sooner in the story plus some more detail about their personal relationship with each other.
I did have some trouble with the dialect which is my reasoning for it not to be 4 stars. This wasn't my first Selena Kitt book and definetaly will not be my last. :)

Reminded me of a fluff romance. There really wasn't that much action and what was there was expected. There wasn't anything surprising which in my opinion makes a great book.

None of the characters were that memorable. In fact... what was with the childish behavior of Raife at the end????

I would recommend if you are looking for a quick read with little depth.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
This is not the typical story that I read but I must say I have been missing out. Loved this book. Nothing like a hot highlander with smoldering sexuality to amp up the page turning. This storyline covers romance from a-z.
Sibyl Blackthorne's hand in marriage has been promised to the Scottish Laird Allistair M Sibyl acFalon by her her new step father and King Henry. Sibyl is an English woman but not the type that Allistair is wanting, and Allistair is definitely not the type of husband Sibyl wants if she wants one at all. After traveling to Scotland to meet her betrothed Sibyl decides after sometime getting to know him that she must escape. The day of the escape they are on horseback together for a hunt of Wulvers. With a hidden sack of food and drink under her dress she manages to get a bow and some arrows from his brother to help her in her plan. Allistair in his attempt to impress her by showing her a trapped wolf in a cage enrages Sibyl when he starts to man handle her while she looks at the wolf. Sibyl falls to the ground to escape his advances and she opens the cage to let the wolf out but Allistair is ready with his sword and wounds the wolf before it can escape. Sibyl entire upbringing has lead her to this moment and fate is waiting. Sibyl shoots Allistair and pins his arm to a tree to make her escape. But there is someone or something waiting in the bushes to help her and although she doesn't realize it yet he will change her life. Raife is head of the Wulvers and he helps her escape taking her to their stronghold. There is intrigue and a connection that is magnetic between them. Although Sibyl is frightened in this strange world, she has been raised by her father to be independent and the knowledge he taught her is quickly used to make her a valuable asset to the Wulvers. Raife and Sibyl are drawn to one another he cannot keep his eyes off her and Sibyl cannot think of anything else but him. But he is the head of the Wulver's and he must think of his pack first. What will happen next. What will happen if Allistair finds out where she is and will Raife and Sibyl find true love when they are not of the same race. You have got to read this story to find out. This was one of the Best romance stories I have read. Selena Kitt you did not disappoint.

This series is currently $.99 on kindle.

I've seen this series pop up on goodreads a couple of times and I didn't think I was interested. It looked weird. Shape-shifters, 1500s, arranged marriage? Add to that combo the fact that a lot of Selena Kitt's books are hardcore erotica and I knew this book was probably not for me. It had great reviews though, so I knew other people were enjoying it. That's probably what tempted me when it popped up on my "eBook bargains" email. The entire trilogy for $.99? ANDDDD I have digital credits? So I bought it, it was free after using a credit, after all, and gave it a shot. I never put it down.

I read this entire book in one sitting.

This book has a lot of things going for it and I'm lazy... So here's a list:

1. Super capable female protagonist. Her father taught her to do all kinds of useful things that women generally were not permitted to. Sybil can ride a horse, use a knife, track animals, navigate, use a bow and arrow, and is trained in first aid. As far as women in 1500ish England go, Sybil Blackthorne is a certified badass.

2. The blurb makes this book sound all alpha male, like the Hero just picks Sybil up and takes her back to his cave where he'll basically force her to be his lady. This is not even close to what happens. Feminism is alive and well in the land of the wulvers. Raife never ever makes Sybil do anything she doesn't want to do. He's actually very sweet and kind to Sybil and everyone else. Raife turned out to be one of my favorite Heroes of the year.

3. The book is not actually very porn-y. Yes, there are a couple of sex scenes, but they're in appropriate places and don't take over. This book is actually more story than sex!!!

4. The story is actually good. The world building was pretty great. I loved the mix of historical and science fiction elements. Everything I had read about Selena Kitt made me think that strictly an erotica writer. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm a little bummed that the next 2 books in the trilogy are not about Sybil and Raife. I fell so in love with them! Fortunately, Selena Kitt has showed me that she's actaully a pretty good writer so I'm sure I'll fall in love with Kristin and Donal just as much.

Wonderful, Selena's latest addition to her vast collection of work is just that. Receiving an ARC copy in my inbox was a huge highlight for my day. It also was a curse. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in one sitting.

We're transported to the highlands of Scotland and thrown into a world that's foreign and offensive at times.
Politics and sexual boundaries are major players in this story. Men and Women have clear and definite roles. It rankled my "fur" so to speak, but made me love the characters even more.

Sybil is the perfect English Lady from outward appearances, but inside she has a heart and soul that yearn to be free and wild. Tougher than most women of her time, she's found it impossible to find a husband. Until her dreadful Uncle/Stepdad arranges a marriage for her. Sold like livestock for the betterment of the nation, she's sent off to meet the man that will now rule her life.

Raife is the leader of the Highland pack of Wulvers...Scottish werewolves, that is. Half human, he fights to maintain the peace between human and wulver that his father created. Being alpha is lonely and taxing. Catching wind of the bride being delivered to his enemy peaks his curiousity. One look at Sybil and Raife is hooked.

It's a raw and kind love that is forbidden and yet cannot be denied from the start. The contradiction of his rough and stubborn manner and his unfaltering love for Sybil made Raife one of my favorite male leads. Still waters tend to run deep and Selena shows this clearly. With danger nipping at their heels from the very start, the couple keep the bigger picture in focus. The pack, the surrounding humans and the views of the world at the time push and pull these to constantly.

I have not enjoyed a shifter story this much in some time. It was a new enough twist to pull me in and keep me interested. I honestly cannot wait for the sequel. I have fallen for the loving pack members and the kind and gentle Donal MacFalon. Keep it coming because the highlands are calling to me now

Sibyl Blackthorne is feisty and fearless. But, like many before her, has been bartered away in marriage to a man she doesn't know, doesn't love and who is even more cruel than his reputation. An Englishwoman alone in a strange country, an outsider, a Sassenach, she realizes she would rather be dead than wed to the evil Laird Alistair MacFalon. Planning to escape during an upcoming wolf hunt, Sibyl is horrified to discover the depth of Alistair's depravity and lack of honor. He and his men have trapped a wolf, female and heavily pregnant, and plan to kill it while it is still caged. Outraged, Sibyl manages to free the wolf. But, before she can run, is captured by a dark-haired, blue-eyed, bare-chested Scot - powerful in appearance and powerful in the reaction he causes within her. Nothing is more powerful, however, than the reaction she has when he changes from a devastatingly handsome man into a wolf. Sibyl faints for the first time in her life. She discovers the man who saved her from Alistair and his men is a "wulver" - a shifter - as is the female wolf she saved. As Sibyl gets to know the "wulver" clan, she also learns secrets about herself and the fact that her fate was determined before she was even born.
"She knew sometimes sacrifices had to be made...She would have to make this sacrifice to save them all."
Love is sacrifice and sacrifice is love. What would you sacrifice for the one you loved?
Talk about covering all the bases! "Highland Wolf Pact" is a Scottish romance complete with a Highland werewolf shifter, spunky damsel in distress and a nefarious laird intent on doing anything to achieve his own ends. Throw in the spicy ink that only Selena Kitt can deliver and you have a wonderfully entertaining story that will appeal to a wide variety of readers. I certainly enjoyed it!

Received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was an amazing read. I love books that have action and romance. The heroine was very independent, strong, a healer, brave and risked her life before she risked the people who protected her. Sibyl had some balls by defending herself from that retched Alistair. He definitely got what he deserved. A gentleman doesn't treat women like property. My heart was at the edge a number of times during this book. I was so nervous for her when she let the wolf out of the cage. I couldn't possibly find the courage to do such thing let alone be in a cave with a wolf pact. Raife was half wolf/half man who protected Sibyl from the very beginning of the book. Love struck him the moment he saw her. Sibyl was trained by her father to be brave and taught her how to use weapons, hunting and shooting. Sibyl was annoyed that Raife won't let her out of the cave and let her wonder around. She felt like a prisoner but she got closer to everyone and truly cared for there safety and hospitality. The romance between Raife and Sibyl was a little ruff at the beginning since she would freely flirt and kiss him but he would not tickle her fancy. Wolfs when they find there mate they mate for life. He didn't just want to have a fling. I was so annoyed by her uncle, what an evil man. Selfless and cold heart-ed. Only cared about money and pleasing the king. Selena can write some really hot and spicy sex scenes. Be sure to pick this book up. You don't want to miss this awesome book. Thanks Selena for letting me review early.

Let me tell you that this book had everything that I love top read about, Sexy hot Highlanders, and Strong stubborn alpha shifter who happen to be extremely well made!

This book was fantastic! The story was well written and the characters were well developed. From the moment I started to read Ms. Kitt took me on an amazing journey, with fast pace adventure, exciting action that left me biting my nails wondering what the heck could happen next! Ms Kitt has just earned herself a new fan as far as I'm concerned! I can't wait to read more from her.

Sibyl is an Englishwoman who was just sold to a cruel Scot that only has two things on his mind, 1. His wedding night and 2. Show off his new English bride for the world to see. What this Scot does not know is that sibyl might have been English women, but her father raised her to be strong and tough, let her do things that only men would do in that period. Will that strength help her during her unexpected journey or will it hinder her in her time of need.

Raife is a gorgeous hunk of meat on two legs! He oozes sex apparel and mystery. I don't want to give away too much about him cause his secrets are what makes this story so wonderful and exciting. The way that Sibyl and Raife meet is intense and I could not stop reading and wondering what ifs!!!!

With all of that said I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 Fangs! I just loved everything about this book from the time period it was written in, from the characters and everything in between!

OMG! Where to start? I guess first I will tell you that I have been a long-time fan of Ms. Kitt. Second important thing to know is that this is Ms. Kitt's first published attempt at a paranormal "shifter" romance. Third thing to know is that she nailed it!

Sybil is a young English woman sent to Scotland to marry a Scottish Laird per her Uncle's orders. Alister is far from a dreamboat but Sybil has little choice but to smile and take it, at least until she can find a chance to escape. When her chance finally presents itself, her plans are derailed by a hot Scot in nothing but his kilt and a wounded wolf. Her adventure starts there and it is a thrilling, page-turning, make-you-scream-out-loud journey. I loved every minute of it, even when I was screaming "No! That can't happen!"

With most romances, you know pretty quickly where the story is going and roughly what will happen and you certainly know how it will end. What Ms. Kitt is great at is throwing you for a loop and making you wonder what's going to happen next. Highland Wolf Pact is as hot and seductive as its hero Raife.

I highly recommend this to all Selena Kitt fans, all paranormal or "shifter" romance fans, and fans of the book Outlander. Oh, and this book is also available in a great box-set called Highland Shifters featuring Ms. Kitt and some other great authors.
