This book will blow your mind! The vampire saga continues! Wow, I mean wow! This story is intriguing, witty, exciting, suspenseful and even a romance too. It has so many layers to it and so many things happening. The surprises keep coming, surrounded by lies and deceit. This book definitely kept me guessing. The ending... Let's just say , I was floored! I didn't even see it coming!!! What a shocker! This book is so good, that it is now 1 am and I read it straight thru in one day!
The author(s) Kristen Middleton & K L Middleton did a freakingly fantastic job on this book! The plot is great. The story line is amazing. OMG, I am still reeling from the ending! The narrator, Meghan Kelly did a fantastic delivery of this story for us with a flawless and entertaining voices and accents. I really like the character Slade too! What a great book! The ending??? All I could think was no way!!!
*** I received this audio book "Slade" by Kristen Middleton as a gift in exchange for a honest and unbiased review. ***
I cant say the book blew me away but it wasn't bad either, its predictable and feel good. It carries on where last book Venom left of and Chelsey has woke up having lost seemingly everything, this leads Slade to promise to protect her, most the book involved being on a plane or in a car the romance when from non existent to jumping in bed together personally i think Slade charmed Chelsey, i thought the poker game and finding out about Slades past was a really nice touch, i didn't really understand Melody and Chelsey's reaction to losing their parents and grandma after initial shock they seemed fine and trying to seduce the boys. If u like vamps its worth a read and i have the third book so will carry on as invested my time in first 2.
A thrilling suspenseful ride filled with drama, humor, horror, sorrow, sadness as well as smiles and laughs from start to finish, the author covers many types of supernaturals. An intrigue unique read that is fast paced for the most part, it has a very interesting plot with wonderful characters. It is steamy with some very hot hunk that you are so going to love.
Chelsey and her cousin are the only ones left in their family they are on the run trying to outrun the woman who is hunting them down to kill them. They know too much and they must die. She is uneasy being around Sade can he be trusted or does he just want her blood, maybe he will be the one who kills her. The plot thickens as Slade’s exs sister come to visit, she is up to something and is holding a big secret that will shake Slade’s world. As Slade and Chelsey grow closer there is someone very near that is about to start some trouble.
Toxic: As you found in the second book Slade’s life just turned upside down when he finds out the truth about his ex and her sister. What about Vanessa boyfriend isn’t he something, oh he has plans for Chelsey but Slade has her back or will he be too late?
Ms. Kelly does a wonderful job narrating from her wonderful character voices to the delightful emotions she puts into her audios. Her male and female voices are very good, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. You can hear the emotions that each character is going through as well as the fear, happiness, confusion and sorrow. There are no background noise, no repeating of words, no volume changes. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I always knew who was talking, what they are feeling. She really brought the characters to life pulling me in and painting a picture I could see in my mind. I could really hear the desperation in Chelsey’s voice and the powerful emotions that Slade has. This is a very clean, clear audio that is very realistic that you almost feel like you are watching a movie, the characters feel real even though we know they do not exist I found myself watching out the window expecting to see one. I really enjoyed how she shows the sparks flying between these two as their feeling and confusion grow you are pulled in. The narrator makes them feel like they are family. I totally enjoyed listening to this audio.
I listened to the boxset so this part of the review is on it as a whole. Loved the plot, the story line feels real as well as the characters. I really didn’t want it to end and I do hope the author is planning on writing more in this series. When Chelsey said one day she would find and deal with the woman that turned her world upside down I was think you go get her, but I totally understood that now is not the time she has things she must deal with first as she starts her new life with Slade. The way the character said it made me feel there will be more added to this series and I for one can’t wait. I loved the supporting characters they add so much to this series. Many things happen, a lot of twists and turns that are exciting, some will have your throat in your mouth, making your heart beat faster and wanting to get in on the fight yourself. He steam is hot some very hot sex scenes that will heat you up. The danger is real as well as the excitement. It was a very hard audio to put down I needed to find what happened next. There wasn’t anything I didn’t love about these stories. It was well written you can tell a lot of thought went into the writing as well as the narration. I hope you pick it up and give it a listen you are in for one thrilling ride.
Basic Details: Book Title: Slade Subtitle: Venom #2 Author: Kristen Middleton Genre: Paranormal Part of a series? Yes Order in series: 2 Best read after earlier books in series? Yes Available: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Overall score: I scored this book 5/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ Short Summary of the book: This book continues where the previous book in the series left off. Slade and his friends have taken Chelsea and Melody to Ireland. They stay at the Lycan castle and Slade has difficulty in suppressing his attraction to Chelsea. Are the monsters who chased them in America still after them? And how could Slade cope with the presence of the sister of the fiancée he lost a century earlier? What I liked about the book: I loved how Chelsea and Slade fought against the attraction they both felt. A future would certainly not be possible? Slade was an immortal and Chelsea would die eventually. What I didn’t like about the book: It was hard to see how the sister of Slade’s fiancée did everything in her power to seduce the brother of his best friend to get money for a dangerous scientific project. My favourite bits in the book: The power struggle between hearts and mind. How can you let your mind rule when your heart contradicts it? My least favourite bits in the book: The manipulative behaviour of his fiancee’s sister. Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author? This is the second book in the series and the third one also available. What books could this be compared to and why? This book is another book of many which balance good against bad. In this case bad vampires against good ones. Recommendation:
Children No Young Adult Yes Adult Yes
If you like Vampire and Lycan stories this book may be the book for you.
I look forward to reading more books by this author. Book Description by Author: Chelsey is on the run from Faye and her Night Roamers. Can she trust Slade to keep her safe, or is he a bigger threat than the monsters tracking her? I listened to the audiobook version of this story and it was good. It left me wanting to know what would happen in the next story because this one ends with a major cliffhanger. The characters were funny and entertaining although there were times that I wished they acted a bit more mature. Melody was a little annoying at times. I love Liam's playfulness, he keeps things light and funny. I thought that Chelsey and Melody definitely took the news of the loss of their parents well. They cried a few tears and it was like oh well. There's some secrets that are revealed when it comes to Talia, her sister Vanessa and Lucian. This story has a bit of a twist to it because in this one, vampires are able to fly. It's a crazy and cool aspect at the same time. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
I read the first book in the series and was looking forward to this follow up, but for some reason it just fell flat to me. the story seemed to try to hard to be interesting, and make you want to read it. I wouldn't say that it was painful but the jumping around, more cheesy jocks and rushed romance just didn't do it for me. However, things picked up near the end and the last few chapters are good and super interesting.
I found the audio the same as the first, good female voices and limited range when it comes to the men, some of her accents are good but I really only enjoyed the chapters set in a female POV. I was given this book for free in return for my honest review.
Slade (Venom #2) was another good read by Kristen Middleton. Chelsey finds herself on the run from Faye and the Night Roamers. She is on the run with Slade but isn't sure if she can really trust him. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
I listened to all three books in the series. This author is new to me. I enjoyed listening to Meghan Kelly reveal the story on audio. Cousins Melody and Chelsea are young, naive and romanced by a lycan and vampire rock stars. This is a paranormal series worth reading.
Novella short story Chelsey is on the run . She’s running from Faye . Chelsey wonders if she can trust Slade , since she and her cousin need to be safe to continue. Grab it and find out
Even though I didn't finish it, it wasn't because the story was bad. It was good. I thought the author wrote well, and the MC was better than a lot of leads in YA/NA vampire romances.
This is a very unique storyline. With lots of genres merging into this book. Rockstar, vampire, shifter….the list goes on. A brilliant performance from Meghan.
Chelsey and the gang are back with another action packed, sexy, funny installment. This was a really good read. They are on the run from Faye and the Night Roamers. Chelsey has to put her trust in Slade and his team. In the beginning she does not trust him at all and is giving him a hard time. But we do get to see them go through changes with trusting one another. They both end of falling in love with each other. Its just a beautiful story to see how they grow to love each other.
And this whole Vanessa deal is a hot mess. I knew something did not sound right how she supposedly died. And I’m glad that Slade went to look for her when he did because it confirmed what I thought all alone. Her and Lucian is up to know good.
But what kept me laughing was Liam. OMG he is one of my favorite characters!!! He is so much fun and Melody is all over him. I can’t wait to see what the next installment has in stored for us.
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
This book picks up where the last one left off...Chelsey and Melody are on the run after the nightclub fiasco....Slade has rescued them, and takes them somewhere safe, well he gives them a choice to come with him and the band back to there country....Well on the flight there they pick up Talia, who is more then she is letting on...and there is definitely a back story there that will shock you....Chelsey fights her attraction for Slade, but finally gives in...and the sparks fly! Shocker ending too!!!
Meghan gave a great performance, that made this book a pure pleasure...and I can not wait for book 3!!! I highly recommend...well worth your time and a credit!!
I was glade that leads stayed good and protected the ones he could. But like I said in the byline is that like the first one, just as your getting in too the story it ends. I'd like to get my money's worth next time and see the book grow in chapters. Don't get me wrong, I live the way the writer writes, so don't skimp on any of that. Just take it slow and easy and make the next patterning. The writer here is talented and I will definitely look for more reads com this writer.
I really did enjoy this book, as much as Venom! However, I wish that something had come to a conclusion instead of having to wait for part 3. This book didn't just end on a cliff hangar. It is more like it just came to the end of a chapter and said "No more for this book." I really hate that. It just stops in the middle of the story without rhyme or reason.
I will eventually get the third part, but I doubt I will listen to any more series by this author. I don't like trilogies like this.
Truly unbelievable and the plot just thickens. It's like a soap opera without commercials and only your vivid imagination. I don't know what will happen and can't wait to find out!!
