Way back. Before I knew what smut really was. Before Sanctuary. Back to my earliest days as a scrappy Little Sacrifice, when I was busy saving kids, playing the world’s longest name-guessing game, and dreaming of a group of hot guys covered in nothing but melted chocolate.
Bon appétit!
Rumpled Feather is a short, sweet, and spicy flashback for Forgotten Angel readers who want a glimpse into Feather's early life. It contains references to off-page child abuse and assault, violence, profanity, a homophobic villain who gets what he deserves, harm to a heroic animal (no dogs die, I swear on all the ice cream in the universe), vague but suggestive group activities, and a dangerous amount of chocolate.
Once upon a time, Merri Bright tucked romance novels behind all her textbooks and read love stories instead of the lessons. Now she writes the same kind of books she’s always loved, dreaming up stories about naughty angels, misunderstood demons, sexy shifters, growly Alpha males, and all sorts of dragons.
She drinks cinnamon tea while she writes, and believes in the power of naps, kitten cuddles, and long walks with her dog. Come watch Merri be socially awkward at Merri’s FB page or Instagram @merribright, or email her at merri@merribright.com.
Thank you for reading Rumpled Feather! This is a short, sweet flashback prequel starring a younger Feather, a mysterious, unnamed non-corporeal entity, and an even more mysterious dog. For those who are patiently waiting for Spark (AKA Precious), I wrote this partly as an exploration of the place of Celestial dogs in this world for those books... and partly because I missed Feather, and the muse threw me a bone. ;)

This is a short, sweet read with a generous helping of humor, and a dash of spice. This delightful novella or short story can easily be read before or after the Forgotten Angel series. Feather may be covered in the sins of others, but it does nothing to tarnish her beautiful, glittery heart of gold. In this book, we get a glimpse into her relationship with Rumple and her role as his little sacrifice. What amazes me is that no matter how difficult each life may be she is always willing to sacrifice herself for others, and bear their burden without complaint. I also love how she draws comfort from Rumple's presence while she serves her time in the void. And, of course, my favorite part comes at the very end of the book. Whether you have already read The Forgotten Angel series or you would like to, I highly recommend you read this book. I know you will enjoy this glimpse into Feather's past. I know I certainly did.
