They called me a curse. A relic locked in the dark to be forgotten. But she touched the mirror—she woke me. Now I’m free. And she’s mine.
Calla, the broken girl with fire still burning in her eyes. They used her. Hurt her. Branded her as nothing. I’ll show them what it means to take from me.
I was forged in torment, born again in shadow. I don’t save people. I destroy what tries to break them. And I swear on every mark carved into my flesh—
I will ruin this world before I let it take her again.
Because they didn’t just hurt her. They made her kneel. Now I’ll make gods bleed. I’ll rip kingdoms down brick by brick.
And when the smoke clears, the last thing they’ll see is me, on my knees before her—
not in defeat, but in devotion. Because she’s not just mine to protect.
Enjoyable story that's about Calla a human slave of the house of Vaerathis who frees and releases Daeva a demon. Calla was sent down to the catacombs to clean the storerooms. Cleaning the moldy floors, she sees a flickering light and finds a trapdoor built in the floor and lifts it. Traveling down the ladder she sees a mirror built into the wall. Drawn toward it she touches the mirror, and it exposes a creature inside as it cracks apart. The demon Daeva appears before her. Seeking freedom, will they escape the Dark elves? The story was engaging, the characters were likable, their romance was steamy, and their adventures were entertaining in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.
Human slave Calla is drawn to a mirror in the cellar she is cleaning. Her touch on the mirror releases Daeva, a once human demon. This is the beginning of a fight for their freedom and their lives.
Calla is a strong, determined woman who fights to free herself and her friends from slavery. She is attracted to Daeva, finding the good in his nature that still exists under his demon magic. Daeva strives to keep his feelings hidden in an effort to protect Calla. This story has magic, danger, and relentless forces of evil that pursue the couple. They find they must trust each other and work together to finally get their HEA.
