The crowd sees chemistry. Only they remember the heartbreak.
Savannah Williams walked away from the squared circle—and from him—over two years ago. She went from being the top women’s wrestler and headlining the biggest shows at Elite Wrestling Entertainment to coaching high school cheerleaders in the blink of an eye. Now, she’s back and being forced to stand side by side with the man who broke her heart.
After being the face of the company for over ten years, John Brooks is the first thing most people think of when they think of pro-wrestling. The second thing that comes to mind is usually Brooks Taylor and Savvy Skye, the ultimate power couple of the EWE. John has never forgotten the day Savannah walked out the door. He never thought he’d see her again—and he certainly never thought she’d return as his tag team partner to fight the company’s newest “it” couple thirsting for recognition.
They say it’s just business—a friend helping out another friend, reigniting a fan-favorite duo meant to stir up nostalgia and put asses in seats—but everyone can see the tension between them is anything but pretend. You can’t fake that kind of chemistry.
As they fight to reclaim their places at the top, the lines between performance and reality begin to blur, but are they ready for the truth to come out?

From Jensen Parker, the author of the Strangers series, Heartbreaker is a second-chance romance set in the world of pro-wrestling at Elite Wrestling Entertainment.
This book also includes the short story, "Showstopper" by Jensen Parker.
Jensen Parker writes contemporary romances filled with angst, passion, and a happily ever after! With a passion for storytelling that blends heart and grit, Jensen crafts romance novels that dive into the complex relationships of everyday life and love. She studied English at Loyola University Chicago and Harvard University in Boston. When she's not writing, you'll find her spending time with her family, cooking, or planning the next vacation.
This was an okay book - the writing was good, overall, and there aren't any major complaints about this book. I think being a huge WWE fan was a huge detriment to my reading experience, though, because I could very much see the inspiration in the characters and wrestling stories and relationships.
Not only that, however ......
This book was actually kind of disappointing for me. I've had this on my KU borrowed list since it's release, and I've been so excited for it since then, but hadn't been in quite the right mood to read until today. I'd also read another book in this series before this one, mostly because it was Christmas themed and LOVED that one, so my excitement for this was still pretty warranted, in my opinion.
Whilst there was nothing wrong with the writing, or the plot, there was quite a few things lacking. Our first chapter was in the 'present' timeline, and then we jump into the past to see these two characters fall in love and out of love. Which not a big deal - I prefer that to random flashbacks, usually, but this portion of the book lasted until 60% of the book and a span of like.....6 years, and while you could see the conflict coming from a mile away, it felt very convoluted to me, especially when, in the present past timeline, all of the characters agree with that.
And then when we're in the present timeline, we do get a resolution but it's not until like 80%? 85%?
And unfortunately, my least favourite thing happened in my favourite trope - we barely see the main couple interact in the main timeline where they are happy. It's all arguing and fighting and trying to get their happy ending. And when we do get it, the author jumps forward in time for a couple of chapters before the epilogue.
Eventually, it just felt like there wasn't a lot of chemistry, and a lot of time together, which was a real bummer. So while I still enjoyed the book, it wasn't as much as I was hopeful for.
HEARTBREAKER BY JENSEN PARKER. 5 ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨s. This is my very first wrestling romance book and I loved it. Loved the characters and the full setting. Really looking forward to the other books in the series
10/10 Wrestling. I loved getting a professional wrestling x romance book!! It was really fun getting to read a story set in a world that I love outside of reading.
Unfortunately I struggled with this plot looool. These characters didn’t act their age, the ‘reason’ to why they broke up was a weak reason (especially after how they were dating for four (FOUR) years at this point (communication, guys??), and the time jumps felt like rushed/forced plot fillers.
This being said, I will 100% be reading the next book in this series! Can’t wait 🔥
Heartbreaker by Jensen Parker is a wrestling romance that completely surprised me — equal parts tender, emotional, and full of fire. 💘
The story follows two people who’ve loved, lost, and find themselves thrown back into each other’s orbit in the most complicated way possible. Between the age gap, workplace romance, and a one-night stand that won’t stay in the past, I was hooked from the start.
What really stood out to me was the emotional healing — it’s not just about romance, it’s about growth, forgiveness, and finding your place again. The found family element added so much warmth, and the dual POV made every moment feel raw and real.
If you love: 💞 Second chances 💞 Forced proximity 💞 Dual POV 💞 A little bit of spice and a lot of heart
Is my first book by P B Walter. The narrator Oliver J. Hembrough is a great storyteller I listen on one sitting I couldn't put it down everything that needed to be done was push to the side.
Once you think you have it all figured out WHAM!! Like a roller-coaster with these twists and turns you can't see what's a head of you. A 5 star thiller ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read a ARC my opinions are only mine own.
But omg, I have watched professional wrestling since I was a child and this book made me so happy. I loved this concept and can’t wait for more in this series. What a delight.
dnf ! i really wanted to like this book but so many things went wrong with it. their initial love story took way too long to unfold and the timeline felt confusing which made it hard for me to stay engaged and enjoy the story.
Jensen Parker did SUCH a good job bringing the reader into the world of wrestling. While I didn’t know much about it before, the story was written in a way that was so engaging and never had me feeling lost. Love a love story!!
I really loved the storyline for this book. I really loved the professional wrestler angle that it took from a typical sports romance. I loved the characters and the dynamic between the main characters and the side characters. I felt like enough information was given about them without delving too far into their lives to feel like a tangent. The writing was flowey, lush, and whitty.
BUT, I did feel like it was way longer than necessary. The first half of the book was beautiful and very charismatic. I was hooked from the very beginning, but I quickly grew bored once I realized we were going to spend the whole first half of the book in a flashback. I obviously knew they were going to breakup, it's an ex's to lovers romance and is marketed that way, but I felt as if I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop the whole time. Which is not how I want to feel while I'm reading. It made me anxious and I just wanted to skim through it. I didn't feel like there was any realy tension or yearning before they were together in the beginning and I feel as if John and Sav's love story could have been explored in a whole different light, but because it was supposed to just be an 'overview' it felt rushed.
I did love the characters and the storyline. The EWE aspect with Sav being the Queen of the Ring was just so fun, but with me constantly feeling like someting was looming over the characters I don't feel as if I could enjoy it as much as I would have liked.
1.5 stars ⭐️ As a fan of professional wrestling and second chance romance books, I was really excited to see these two interests of mine combined, but unfortunately the writing really fell flat for me. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed reading the chapters of the actual wrestling matches (especially towards the end), but I didn’t feel that same excitement when reading any other part of the book. I believe that the author believes these characters are the best in the world and that they belong together, but I don’t buy it just because she tells the readers that. It was the epitome of telling and not showing. I kept feeling like I was missing details or that we just weren’t focusing on the right things. The catalyst for their breakup and everything that came afterwards didn’t make any sense, and overall was just way too long.
Such a fascinating read to learn about the world of wrestling entertainment alongside Miss Savannah Williams who has just made a huge career transition, coming from college and professional cheerleading. Now mix it with a (or more?) second-chance encounter and you’ve got a mesmerising combo.
Each of the characters have their own unique characteristics. They feel so real and I do care about them so! I can’t wait for you to dabble into all of their dynamics and the chemistry of the lead characters.
I will say I was a bit worried seeing the list of character names and roles at the beginning of the book because the mistake a lot of books do is expect the reader to know these characters already based off these two pages that no one actually reads/remembers until later and uses as a reference. However, worry not, we're given the story as we should with each character and the jargon is explained in a clear and natural way as we progress through the story.
A great read & so fun to get into. Definitely recommend for a sporty romance with characters you will fall for.
"Savannah, I respect the hell out of you, and I will do whatever you want, but fuck...I just want to call you mine."
⭐4.5/5⭐
Review I never thought I'd see the day where a wrestling (WWE inspired) romance would hit the market. Perhaps there have been a few here and there, but I can't imagine them holding candle to this one.
As a girl who grew up watching WWE and entertainment wrestling, Heartbreaker spoke to me, reeled me in and kept me hooked. Parker really made you feel like you were watching all of the matches and 'televised' events happen in real time. I could almost picture each move, each stand-off, each segment happen as though it were on a TV. That is a true testament of great writing.
->Plot; As far as the storyline goes, it was fantastic. I appreciated that instead of flashbacks from the past to the present (where the story starts), we get to experience the WHOLE story. Only note: I wish it was a tiny bit faster paced but I also feel that every chapter had important details that contributed to the conflict. Maybe just condensing them would've been better?
->Romance; John & Savannah have my ♥heart♥. They made it onto my Top 10 list of book couples. Their story/relationship is so realistic and captivating, keeping you on edge throughout the whole thing. How they grow, not only in their relationship but also friendship, during the pages is beautiful. You could see and feel their attraction growing as time goes on, which is great writing again.
->Characters; John aka Brooks has become one of my favorite MMCs. He's open about how he feels, he wants to talk things out (after he gets upset but oh well), and genuinely puts Savvy's needs before his own which is rare. I love him🥰 even with some of his flaws.
Savannah was a refreshing FMC. She was strong and independent, but also stubborn and bull headed. There were times where I loved her and times where I wanted to smack her upside the head, but that's what made her great. She was complicated and beautiful. I appreciated that (for the most part) she didn't let her love life affect her career, that she strived to have the best of both worlds. Her journey in the EWE was heartfelt, especially to a girl who grew up with WWE and wanting to be like the women on the screen.
Brody, Bennett/Wolf, Rae, the Williamson brothers, etc. were all fantastic side characters that I wanted to have a bigger part in the story. I'm really hoping we get a Brody x Rae book as their relationship piqued my interest the most. Plus that would give us more Nash. I also want a book or short story about Bennett finding love again. He needs a win after Harper.
->Final Thoughts; GIVE ME MORE. I want more entertainment wrestling centered books as they are an untapped goldmine. I could see why people may not be super interested but I don't view the subgenre any different from other sports romances. And Parker writes in a way that you don't even need to know anything about real-world entertainment wrestling to the enjoy fictional one. Please add Heartbreaker to your TBR asap!
Thank you NetGalley & Victory Editing Co-Op for giving me the chance to obtain this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Have you ever found a book that you want to give 10 stars to but that’s not an option? No? Well, I feel sorry for you if you haven’t… but I found exactly that with Heartbreaker. I’m a huge sports romance girlie, but wrestling romances are few and far between. So when this book was recommended to me by a member of my local book club, I decided to give it a shot. I put it on my TBR… and it sat there for a couple of months. Now I silently cry about the fact that it sat there for so long.
Savannah Williams (aka Savvy Skye) and John Brooks (aka Brooks Taylor) meet at a bar one night near Savannah’s college. They hook up and part ways, both of them letting their night together live rent free in their brains and wishing for a repeat. Fast forward to a little while later when Savannah takes a dare from her brothers and applies to be a wrestler with Elite Wrestling Entertainment. To everyone’s surprise after a couple of try outs, she is offered a job. Leaving behind the world of professional cheerleading, Savannah enters the EWE training program. One day, she runs smack dab (literally) into her unforgettable one night stand John Brooks when he comes to help out with training. Rehabbing from an injury, Brooks is just as shocked to see Savannah as she is him. They try to keep their previous relationship secret and agree to be friends. Being friends doesn’t work for them as they both pine for each other and eventually give in to their desires. They become lovers again and are inseparable, rising to the top of the EWE together… until one day, a hidden secret tears them apart. Savannah runs back to her family and Brooks tries to live in a world that doesn’t have Savvy in it. Time passes and both of them begin to heal… neither one of them ever giving up on loving each other. Savvy decides to make her return to EWE (a secret she hid from everyone) and they are once again reunited. It’s not happily ever after right away after her return, but the two find their way back to the love that united them in the first place.
I adored Savvy and Brooks. Savvy is strong, sassy, and strong willed. Brooks is cocky, athletic, and just as strong willed as Savvy… which makes for some amazingly passionate scenes between the two that almost burned the pages of the book. Savvy and Brooks both have an amazing support system surrounding them, Savvy’s consisting mostly of her family and Brooks having found his family in the wrestling world. The supporting characters are well written and let me tell you… they are so well written that I actually despised one of them as if she were a real person walking the earth. One of the big things that stands out for me and makes this book so good is the technical information that Jensen incorporated into the book. Instead of letting the sport take a back seat to the love story, Jensen was able to incorporate the wrestling world into the love story in such a way that just really works. This book has been one of my few five star reads of the year and I can’t stop recommending it to people. If you love sports romance, are a fan of wrestling in any way (even if you are a casual fan like me), and you love a little bit of angst before your HEA, Heartbreaker is a must read for you.
I was curious about this book as I grew up watching professional wrestling, and thought a romance set in that world would be interesting. This is the story of Savannah and John, and their journey through heartbreak and healing. I will say if you aren’t familiar with wrestling or at least interested in it this book will probably not be for you. There are in depth descriptions of matches, and even having watched it growing up I wasn’t always able to understand what was happening. Also the author using specific dates at the beginning of each chapter wasn’t always helpful, since by the time the next chapter came around I didn’t remember the previous date.
The slow burn of the first half of the book was hard on me, as I don’t love that trope. It worked for Savannah and John though and really upped the desire to see them together. Savannah joins the EWE where John is one of the star wrestlers. She doesn’t want to date him though for fear it’ll seem like she is using him to get a leg up. I can respect that, but was really happy when they finally got together.
I did see the reason for their breakup coming from a mile away though. I was surprised it didn’t happen as soon as I thought it was going to, but years later down the line. John makes some decisions for Savannah that messed with her career which he shouldn’t have done. The big reason they break up though is a lie of omission from John. I felt that Savannah should have trusted John a bit more and understood that his motives weren’t bad. They both had some growing to do during their time apart. I won’t give away the third act or the ending, but it does involve them getting their happily ever after.
I’d like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.
HEARTBREAKER follows the love story between Savannah “Savvy Skye” Williams and John Brooks AKA Brooks Taylor from their first chance meeting that results in a one-night-stand through the time Savannah spends training as a professional wrestler and continues through the first few years of her career as she tries to balance her work life and personal life with one of the company’s top wrestlers. After a misunderstanding about their relationship drives them apart, Savannah returns to a “normal” life while John continues with his career. Despite spending a few years apart, the mutual feelings do not fade. Savannah’s return to the ring—and John’s life—quickly rekindles their romance.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love professional wrestling. I love it so much that I wrote a cozy mystery series starring a professional wrestler. So, I saw a romance novel about two wrestlers, I absolutely had to request it.
While I enjoyed the story, I did find the book to be too long. And there were a lot of subplots going on that didn’t always seem necessary to the overall story. Between the drawn-out story and my initial dislike of Savannah—she’s a cheerleader who knows next to nothing about professional wrestling when she tries out for EWE on a dare, so I felt compelled to hate her on principle—it took me a while to really get into the story.
It takes a long time for Savannah and John to officially get together, and then they’re in a serious relationship for a few years before the big breakup over a stupid misunderstanding. Was Savannah justified in being mad? Sure. But it was nothing that a heart-to-heart conversation couldn’t have solved. There is also no discussion about the problems John’s mother caused and how it contributed to Savannah ending the relationship. HEARBREAKER is an Exes to Lovers / Second Chance story that thoroughly covers the entire relationship. Prepare yourself for a lengthy read, because this is one in-depth storyline.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
As a long time fan of professional wrestling, I was so so excited to have the opportunity to read a wrestling romance! Heartbreaker is the first installment in the EWE series by Jensen Parker and it is a second chance romance set in the world of sports entertainment.
This story does a thorough job of setting up the world of professional wrestling and EWE. The level of explanation of pro wrestling terminology and how the industry works behind the scenes is extremely helpful if you are someone who does not have a background of being a wrestling fan or if you have not watched other related content (Fighting with my Family, GLOW, and Heels, as some examples). The cast of characters is huge! While this was initially a challenge to keep track of, I feel like there are enough fleshed out characters that Parker could keep writing EWE for a long time. The story is split between on-screen drama and real life emotions, which is what I hoped for from a wrestling romance novel.
I will say that second chance is not my favorite romance novel structure, and that the way Heartbreaker takes over 250 pages to show the reader the initial love story and all the reasons that the characters should not be together did not help. This book is long for a contemporary romance! All that said, there are plenty of steamy scenes throughout the story and they kept the tension going.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy second chance romance, lovers of professional wrestling, and those who enjoy watching a couple work together over 15 years.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eArc!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Felt like I was ringside for every moment — an emotional, slow-burn knockout!
Wow, I loved this book! Heartbreaker by Jensen Parker completely hooked me from the start. I really appreciated that instead of getting random flashbacks, we got to see the whole story play out from the beginning — it made everything feel so real and easy to follow.
The main characters’ relationship had me on my toes the entire time. The chemistry, the tension, the push and pull — I couldn’t look away. The slow-burn start made the payoff even better; the anticipation was chef’s kiss.
I also have to say, I’m not a huge wrestling fan, but the way Parker wrote about those scenes made me feel like I was right there, watching the matches. They were detailed without ever feeling boring or too technical, which I really appreciated.
Overall, Heartbreaker is such a fun, emotional, and well-paced story. Great characters, great tension, and a romance that is totally worth reading. Highly recommend!
Jensen Parker is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. Her writing style is so easy to fall into — emotional, vivid, and perfectly paced. What I love most is how Parker builds relationships that feel real, with chemistry that jumps off the page. Her books also have this great way of blending romance with unique settings (like the wrestling world in Heartbreaker) without ever making it feel overwhelming. You don’t have to be a fan of the sport to love the story — Parker makes it all about the people, the tension, and the heart. I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
Reading this book was so nostalgic for me. As a lover of the old school WWF, I am reminded of the greatest love reunion in wrestling history. Let me set the scene for you: Wrestlemania 7. "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs The Ultimate Warrior. Loser retires. Now, as Macho Man walks down the ramp, we get a glimpse of....GASP.... Is that??? No, it couldn't be!! That can't be THE Miss Elizabeth who not too long ago was so cruelly fired as Macho Man's manager and was shamelessly replaced by Sensational Susie? Or Shelly? Sherri? But it was!! And after a long battle, Ultimate Warrior was named the winner. When Sara started kicking the Macho Man while he was still down and immobile in the ring, Miss Elizabeth climbs over the gate and races to the stage before grabbing Sally by her hair and throwing her out of the ring. Macho Man still does not realize that it is Miss Elizabeth as he staggers to his feet but when he looks at her and truly SEES her, he is shocked!!! Seconds later, he opens his arms and Miss Elizabeth embraces him!!! Ahhhh.....love....
Savannah and Brooks are followed over the span of their whole relationship as they go through the ups and downs of this career. Sav wants to build a career on her own without others saying that she depended on Brooks for her victories. Yet, they are drawn together and as we watch their friendship change to love, we become witnesses to the challenges they face and sometimes that means leaving for a while. I loved this story and look forward to more in this EWE world.
I enjoyed getting to know them each through their friendships and side characters giving honest advice throughout the book. I liked Savannah's family aspect and the banter between siblings. I like John's protectiveness of his sister and his grandmother's small cameos.
I grew up watching wrestling, still watching/attending events to this day, so I was very excited to see such a wrestling forward book coming to market. While I loved the wrestling aspect and how we got the background of the sport, overall, I feel like the book was too long and most of the chapters were just "fluff" and not needed for the overall story for Savannah and John.
I think it could have been better as a dual timeline as opposed to Part 1 & 2 and flowed better since the chapters would go from a day/week to years apart so I was constantly trying to keep up with what happened in between stuff or why certain things were included (his dad storyline felt unncessary to me).
I understand the bet being needed as a catalyst but given their ages at the time of meeting and then when the bet became known to her it felt like they should have been more adult to handle it differently so the age factor kept me from understanding why they weren't just communciating given they weren't in their early 20s like it seemed by their actions.
“No one is prepared to take his place because no one is willing to do what he does.”
As a professional wrestling fan, I’m always intrigued to see how the concept is portrayed in fiction, and Heartbreaker did a great job of dissecting the fine line between fiction and reality created by the performers. The insider terms were explained carefully to an audience who might not be familiar with wrestling, with the helpful addition of a glossary at the end. The characters within Elite Wrestling Entertainment all felt realistic to the industry, from the wrestlers to the commentators to the creative team. Because the cast was so large, it was sometimes easy to forget who was who or become attached to a character who ultimately ended up serving no real purpose yet, though the beauty of a wider universe is that there’s still plenty of storylines to explore in future. As much as I loved the wrestling side of things, the main focus was on the relationship between star wrestler Brooks Taylor and newbie Savvy Skye, which was admittedly a little too trope-heavy for my usual taste. However, I think this spicy second-chance romance would be a great introduction for readers wanting to dip their toe into the world of professional wrestling—they’re in more than capable hands.
As a fan of professional wrestling and someone still trying to find their romance vibe, I thought this would be a very good place to begin and I was completely correct as we get into Heartbreaker, the first book in a series I definitely want to keep reading.
As we get to know Savannah and Brooks and how their story begins, the characters are so well written particularly Savannah who we are introduced to from the start of the book. I feel sometimes in romance we don't also see the relationships outside of the romance and I am glad we get to see a larger cast of people in this story, I hope this is a sign that in the future the books will be set in the same world with the same supporting characters.
The setting is a fantastic place for this plot and the chemistry within these pages makes you keep reading, the spice is spicy for sure however I do think how this story develops and the banter between these characters is just so brilliantly written - I think it's probably some of the best I've read this year, for sure.
Anyway I loved reading this, I really hope we get more in this series soon! Jensen Parker is going to be one of my must-read authors if it continues like this one.
(Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC for honest review).
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this arc. I knew I had to read it by the cover and description alone
I never knew my worlds would collide reading this book, my love for romance novels and wrestling.
This book was LONG!!!! Which i think a non wrestling fan may feel it dragged, but in all honesty I felt like I was there through all of Savvy Skyes career and the best parts of Brooks’. The detailed timelines from her training at nextgen, to main eventing wrestlefest. (It is so hard to not use real wrestling names and events right now) from the moment these two met you knew there was something and a special something.
I did find myself trying to figure out who she based these characters off from WWE, but I think they were a good mix. If someone were to read this book that isn’t a fan of professional wrestling, I can see them Dnf’ing this, but she truly showed the character development. As you watch these wrestlers in their careers grow to be superstars. She did that justice and then some. I felt like I was watching raw or smackdown and I could literally see them in my head in the matches she wrote.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an advanced copy to review!
As a big WWE fan, I was incredibly excited to jump into the world of EWE that Jensen Parker created. And this truly is a world. Heartbreaker takes the reader on a full-scale journey, an odyssey spanning decades that really makes the characters and the world feel real. You could feel the respect and care with which the world was created. This is exactly the story I had been dreaming of reading since my husband first introduced me to professional wrestling years ago.
Savannah and John are very well written characters, truly feeling human, and their love is incredibly believable.
A small word of warning, and skip this paragraph if you don’t read descriptions and like to go in blind - the description is pretty misleading. It reads like the story begins with the second chance romance, but most of the story is actually spent on the “before”. I didn’t have a problem with that, but I think some readers might if they are hoping to pick up there. I think because of that, the pace also felt a little strange.
Overall I had a great time with this one and would love to jump back into this world in the future!
3.5/4 stars My first wrestling romance book! I can tell this was written by either a big fan of wrestling or Jensen Parker really did their research! I have grown up watching wrestling and now my son and husband watch it. This felt like I could have been reading a story about some of our favorite wrestling stars. This novel is based around Savannah and John. We get both of their POVs. We also get commentary of full matches in the pages of this book. There is a lot of technical terms about wrestling. However it is explained very well. There’s an age gap of less than 10 years between these characters. I enjoyed the relationship between Savannah and John- when they were actually communicating like adults. That is my biggest gripe with this book. It could have had less miscommunication trope forced in it. The book is very long & I feel like we could have done with at least 100 pages less. The story has some very spicy moments but with the characters passion, it made sense. The story encompassed 15 years which at time made it drawn out. Definitely would recommend if you like wrestling / WWE / AEW etc..
There is a severe lack of romance novels set in the world of pro wrestling. So, as someone who is a casual (and at times more impassioned) fan of wrestling, this was a fun find. The story is a multiyear saga of Savannah and John Brooks from the love story and Savvy Skye and Brooks Taylor from the squared circle end. Both stories have a lot of depth, and it's definitely a slow burn as their wrestling and love plots develop, but like great romance and wrestling, there are some twists and turns along the way that add some intrigue to this one. I also have to mention that there is a wrestling glossary at the end of this that is phenomenal - one of the best I've ever seen, and that extensive knowledge also shines through in the story and really makes it all come to life. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the look at this October 2025 release!
As someone who loved WWE back in the day and still occasionally watches, I enjoyed the hell out of this book. It did take me a bit to get into it because it was so daunting learning the characters and their ring names. I think if you’re someone who’s never been into professional wrestling you may have a hard time. This book feels like a love letter to wrestling fans who also love a little bit of smutty goodness. I thought Savannah got too hung up on the cause for the 3rd act break up. And the time skipping was a lot at times, I had to go back and check dates a few times. But all in all I really enjoyed this book and wouldn’t mind seeing more in this universe.
✔️ Wrestling Romance ✔️ Second Chance ✔️ One Night Stand ✔️ Coworkers to Lovers ✔️ Miscommunication
I’ve never read a wrestling-centred romance so was stoked to get an ARC as my husband is a die hard WWE fan. Reading about the sport and the ins and outs of the entertainment business was really cool. I liked the “found family” aspect a lot and loved that the fmc family was so welcoming. I did find the story a bit long and drawn out. The third act breakup was predictable and the set up for it was done well. There were a lot of side characters that contributed little to the storyline that made it confusing at times. The spice was good though!! Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts are my own and are in no way influenced by early access to this title.
🖤 Wrestling Romance 💙 One Night Stand 🖤 Second Chance Romance 💙 Age Gap 🖤 Found Family
I have been a huge wrestling fan most of my life so when I saw @jens was writing a wrestling romance I knew I had to read it and boy Jensen did not disappoint!! I loved the dynamics between Savvy and John. These two had a constant pull towards one another. Their chemistry was off the charts. I do also appreciate that Savannah wanted to find herself outside oh John. John definitely was a patient man, but it was all worth it in the end.
I loved Savannah's relationship with her family especially her brothers. You could tell they all really loved one another. I also loved getting to know the wrestlers and seeing their stories both in and out of the ring.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I loved this book...like seriously you can now consider me a fan of the wrestling sports trope. I was honestly so invested from start to finish.
The chemistry between Sav and John was absolutely electric, and I was rooting for them the entire time. The banter? So top-tier. The attention to detail in their communication (like circling back to include statements at the beginning again at the end) had me kicking my feet. There are a lot of side characters, which took a minute to get used to, but honestly, each one added a layer of depth that made the world feel so full and real.
The time jumps were slightly confusing, but nothing that flipping back to the start of the chapter to get the date couldn't fix.
