“It’s been a minute since we fell in love… but you’ve been worth the wait.”

If good things come to those that wait, then Gustavo Morales is due for something marvelous any day now. But what he really wants is a second chance with his first love, and that may take a bit more finessing still. Which works out well for us readers because we get a front row seat to his mission to win Paige’s heart once more. Starting with a wedding… but not his. Or Paige’s, thankfully. If you’ve been with this series from the beginning, then you’ll be familiar with the bride & groom and delighted to be part of their big day. Don’t worry if you haven’t read those books yet though – I haven’t either, but I was able to orient myself fairly quickly as to who was who in Waitin’ On Paige.

Both Paige and Tavo (whom she calls Gus) have layered family dynamics that affect their own relationship and the decisions they each make throughout this story. I wasn’t sure I always understood their decisions, particularly Paige’s, but I certainly could tell that their reasoning came from buried wounds that hadn’t been dealt with and had begun to fester. This gives the author a very natural opportunity to explore themes of forgiveness, restoration, and grace, and I really appreciated the spiritual journeys she orchestrated for her hero and heroine. I think their faith struggles and the truths they take to heart are relatable to a majority of readers, even if the specific situations aren’t applicable, and that makes the characters all the more relatable as well.

Paige and Tavo have known each other since they were kids so, even though they had a romantic relationship in the past, their current reunion has a delightful ‘friends to more’ element to it as well. And we all know how much I love that trope so, yeah, I was here for it. Of course with a complicated past, their road to a happily-ever-after now isn’t going to be so simple, and there are some surprising twists that elevated my own investment in the story. As such, I’m going to be pretty vague about much of what I enjoyed about Waitin’ On Paige because talking about some of my favorite parts would be risking spoilers. Suffice it to say though, the characters and the plot are engaging, and I loved getting to know Paige and Tavo as well as their families and friends.

Bottom Line: Waitin’ On Paige by Mary Pat Johns combines compelling characters, small town drama (with a dash of Hollywood), meaningful faith discussions, emotional layers, and a sweet romance for a story that entertains as well as uplifts. It was fun meeting Tavo and Paige and watching them find their way back to, first, a friendship and then the hope of more, and a couple of particularly swoony kisses certainly didn’t hurt! I did feel that Tavo was more fleshed out than Paige was, particularly when it comes to their motivations, and I cringed in the first couple of chapters when Tavo refers to a Black bridesmaid as ‘the dark woman’ and ‘the dark gal’ but thankfully that phrasing wasn’t repeated after that. Overall I enjoyed the pacing, the plot twists, and the characters, and I confess that I hope Paige’s brothers will get their own stories some day, even if this was the final book in the series. Those two are certainly a handful but I think they’d make great heroes in a few years!

When I finished reading this book I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The characters were so realistic. I felt a personal bond with Paige and Tavo and an extreme dislike for Ed who still draws my anger. The author left no doubt about the way we complicate our lives with poor choices when we try to take control and leave God out.
Mary Pat Johns gave us lessons learned, adventure, suspense, and plenty of humor. My eyes were tired and watering after a long day and I still didn’t want to stop reading! Her best yet! S. Morrison

Okay, this story took me on a total roller coaster of emotions, and I was absolutely there for it! This is only my second book by Mary Pat Johns, but WOW, it is by far my favorite! Oddly enough, second chance romances aren’t usually my go-to trope, but Mary may have officially won me over with this one. There were so many twists and turns leading up to the happily ever after that I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough.

Paige is the one woman Tavo has always loved. Now he's back in Valiant, determined to win her over, move out of the friend zone, and convince her they can have something more. But it's about more than just their relationship, Tavo also needs to heal things with his family and reconnect with God. If he has any chance of success, he knows God must come first.

Paige is focused on growing her business. Though she’s always loved Tavo, she can’t risk her heart on anything more than friendship. But when an injury forces them to spend more time together, the line between friendship and something deeper starts to blur. Add in another man vying for Paige’s attention and a surprising person from Tavo’s past who changes everything... and this becomes a true page-turner!

After reading this, I know I need to go back and read the earlier books in the series and have them in print, too! I also love that Mary left the door open for more romances in Valiant. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I gave this 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5! It's easily one of my top reads this month.

This was a sweet story about a second chance at love. Tavo and Paige both had issues with trust because of their childhoods. Tavo's been trying to win her back and it seems he might finally have her attention after he suffers an injury. Then a celebrity client shows up to turn her head and he thinks all is lost. I was a little frustrated with Paige as I get having trust issues but when it seemed like she left first for college and didn't come back, then why would she think he shouldn't leave? They seemed to have a great relationship in high school so it felt like her fear didn't make a lot of sense to me. It also seemed like she wasn't listening sometimes as he would tell her how he felt and she would get the opposite message. I also felt like he could have explained things better and sooner as I felt he should have warned her about the celebrity with information he found out and not just vague comments. He also didn't tell her very important information as soon as he found out later. Tavo had wandered from his faith for a while after leaving Valiant and took a while to come back to it. Paige decided to do her own thing concerning her ambition and not see what God's timing was. Tavo had a great pair of friends who told him the truth, no matter what, and confronted him when necessary. Paige's friends seemed like great ladies, too. I think their stories were in the prior books and sound cute. This was book four and worked as a stand-alone but it would have been nice to read the other couple's stories first as they were very cute together in this one. This was a sweet story for fans of second chance romance.

I absolutely adore second-chance stories. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about getting another shot as something that didn’t work out the first time. Waitin' on Paige is a well-rounded, twisty-turny, and satisfying romance featuring fun characters, a charming small-town setting, and themes of trust, faith, and forgiveness.

Tavo and Paige are simply lovable. While the movie star aspect didn’t captivate me as much, I was deeply invested in the couple’s bond and Tavo’s relationship with his family. I wasn’t as enthralled with the movie star aspect as I was with this couple’s relationship with each other and Tavo’s relationship with his family. Although it slowed the pacing down just a bit for me, this was still a fast read with a satisfying ending.

a second-chance romance for high-school sweethearts!

tavo morales is back in valiant, texas for a second chance with the only woman he's loved. meanwhile, paige muñoz is busy chasing her dream of event planning, not sure she wants anything to stand in her way. as the two get reacquainted, it's as if years haven't passed—but will the obstacles that keep coming up work to keep them apart?

waitin' on paige has all the potential for a sweet, fun contemporary romance. however, for me, it felt like there was something missing, especially with paige's character. the story provides sufficent detail to understand tavo, his motivations, reactions, and backstory (though i didn't quite get what pushed him to return now and make amends after all his time away). paige, though, was harder to decipher from scene to scene; her reactions didn't always make sense to me, based on what had just happened, and her reasons for not being ready for marriage or wanting children—or even breaking up with tavo in the first place—felt unclear. she was quick to admit that she still loved tavo, so it was hard to understand what stopped them from just getting together in the beginning.

still, the story has its cute moments, as well as uplifting, faith-filled interactions, and maybe i just missed something because many other readers have loved it. it didn't work for me, but for other romance readers, it could.

Waitin’ On Paige is the first book I have read written by Mary Pat Johns. It was an enjoyable read. It caught me right from the start. This is book four in the Romance in Valiant series, but I have not read the previous books. So, it could be read as a stand-alone, though if you want a bigger picture, starting from book one would be recommended.

The character development was good. Paige is trying to get her party planner business off the ground while taking care of her family. Tavo is a cop who returned to Valiant to mend relationships and pursue Paige, whom he never stopped loving.

The setting was great, I loved the small-town feel. The storyline was fun. We start the book with Jesse and Brenna’s wedding. At the wedding, Tavo ends up hurting his shoulder. Paige volunteers to help him with swim therapy. Paige just wants to maintain a friendship, but Tavo is hoping for more. When Paige finds herself spending more time with Ed, we have a little bit of competition for Paige’s attention. It had a few fun twists that kept me turning the page. I look forward to reading the rest of the series in the future.

This friends-to-more, second-chance romance is the perfect kisses-only romance.

Mary Pat Johns does a great job of intertwining faith throughout the book.

Waitin’ on Paige

Second chance, Romance perfection

“All he wants is to reclaim her love…”

This one was full of
⁃ Second chance
⁃ Small town
⁃ Christian fiction
⁃ Contemporary romance

This is book 4 in the series. It read well as a standalone, but I’m sure you would get more out of it (side character stories) if you read the entire series as they are all interconnected. After reading this one I definitely want to go back and read the other three.

This Christian fiction was full of twist and terms of suspense with lessons of faith, forgiveness, and trust.

I enjoyed the relationship between Paige and Tavo and their second chance I’d love. It is my favorite trope of all. Tavo returned to Texas to try and rekindle the relationship with the only woman he ever loved, Paige. I really enjoyed all the side characters as well in the story. They are another reason I want to go back and read the previous books.

I definitely recommend this one and cannot wait to read more by Mary Pat Johns.

This is the fourth book in the series, and though it can still be read without reading the others, I would recommend doing that if you are going to do so. It can help avoid spoilers from the other stories. I am going back to read the rest in the Romance in Valiant series.

I am a huge sucker for a second chance romance. And the way this story is laid out, it made the second chance romance trope, so much more likable. I have never read one like this, and I recommend it if you are into that trope.

I was selected to participate in the Justread review tour of Waitin’ on Paige written by Mary Pat Johns which is set to be released on July 8. This is the fourth book in the Romance in Valiant series. Now I haven't read the other three books in this series but after reading this one I will make it a priority to check out the others in the future! This is a modern day love story of a couple reunited after years apart. I will say this plot was very interesting and the characters were very likeable.

We are introduced to Paige Munoz who is starting out in the event planning business. However it proves to be a challenge but she isn't going to back down no matter what happens. To make things more complicated an old fling Tavo Morales shows up hoping to rekindle their past relationship. Will these two be able to put aside the demons of their past to make things work or will it all just come down crashing and burning?

Waitin’ On Paige by Mary Pat Johns is a heartfelt delight to read with a little bit of suspense mixed in! Waitin’ On Paige is the fourth book in Ms. Johns Romance in Valiant series that tells the story of Tavo and Paige. Tavo is a cop who recently returned home to Valiant, Texas to make amends with his Father, to get right with God, and to hopefully make a go of it with the the love of his life-Paige-after both went their separate ways after High School. Paige is a sweet young woman who works hard in order to help out her Family and is trying to get an event business off the ground, while wanting nothing to do with marriage or having a family of her own. After dislocating his shoulder at a mutual friends’ wedding that Paige planned, Paige and Tavo (who Paige calls Gus) end up spending more time together as Paige helps Tavo with swim therapy. Tavo believes that this is a step in the right direction, but Paige does not. Paige then gets hired by a famous movie star, while Valiant Police ask Tavo to do extra security while the famous Movie Star is in town for the town’s safety. As Paige and Tavo go to work for the Movie Star, they both sense something’s not quite right. Tavo takes that sense seriously, while Paige tries to downplay it because the money she’s being paid can go a long way in helping her Family. The more Tavo and Paige work together, the more things become unraveled in their personal lives and things about their respective past relationships come to light. Through the questioning and confusion, Paige and Tavo come to terms with what is and learn valuable lessons from God about Trust, Pride, and Dependence on Him.

Mary Pat Johns is a new-to-me Author and when I came across Waitin’ On Paige, I was looking for something new and different. Needless to say, Waitin’ On Paige exceeded my expectations on many levels! I love the storyline and meeting Paige and Tavo. I love the twists and turns in Waitin’ On Paige. I definitely wasn’t expecting there to be a suspenseful aspect splashed into the story and I honestly loved it! I love and appreciated the lessons and self-reflections that Paige and Tavo had in the book. I love how coming to the Lord for the things that they did wrong was not easy for them, but as soon as the Lord revealed it to Tavo and Paige, Paige and Tavo did their best to ask for forgiveness and to make things right. I love the stances Ms. Johns took on children as well as alcohol. Not only did God teach Tavo and Paige lessons, I learned them as well and they Ministered to me. If you are looking for a heartfelt story that has a splash of suspense and is a delight to read, then I highly recommend Waitin’ On Paige by Mary Pat Johns! I’m looking forward to catching up with the rest of the Romance in Valiant series and reading what Ms. Johns creates next!

I’ve read one other novel in the Romance in Valiant series, so I was familiar with this world, and it didn’t take long for my imagination to be captured again. How can you not be smitten when the story begins at a wedding? Not to mention the fact that Tavo and Paige are an easy couple to love. It’s clear they’re meant for one another if they could both just get on the same page, and reading about their immense struggle made their happily-ever-after all the sweeter.

There were moments that were engaging, while others seemed to drag for me. I honestly felt like this novel could’ve been tightened up with a snappier pace, and I would’ve been over the moon about it. I know the side story with the movie star is supposed to create tension and a love triangle of sorts, but I feel like that could’ve been omitted completely as I didn’t feel like it added much to the overall narrative besides said movie star annoying me to no end. I also feel like there were a few things that felt unfinished with a few of the side characters so I hope to see them pop up in future installments.

The ending was hands down the best part of this story for me. Though at first it’s the typical, cliché happily-ever-after, the execution was both unique, unexpected, and immensely entertaining. You start with a wedding and end with a twist? It doesn’t get much better than that! This has been a great series so far, and I can’t wait to read other installments in the future.

Secrets check. Stubborn check. I may not have secrets covered, but I definitely have the stubborn going on. And part of my stubbornness is that I refuse to read books of a series out of order! This is book four in a series, so please go into that with your head on straight and read the entire series! Now, that said, the author does say that these can be read as stand-alone novels (but who does that?) if you’re a psycho like that.

This is a fun romance novel. It’s also a second-chance at love story. Paige and Tavo get another chance to work things out. But can they? Tavo is struggling to get back to a normal life. He’s got secrets that he doesn’t want to share and that he’s sure will drive a wedge between them. Paige is starting a brand new career as an events planner, and she’s got the stubbornness on her side (or is it really against her).

I thoroughly enjoyed these characters. I loved getting to know them. They really came off the page and reached out to me. The whole series is that way, though. This author has done such an amazing job writing the characters as real people who are down-to-earth but also pop off the page and right into your living room.

I’m sad to see this series end and can’t wait to see what the author has up her sleeve next!

This second chance romance was one that had a lot of soul searching and even some heart pounding moments to get through before either Paige or Gus (Tavo) could get back together.

High school sweethearts, until Paige left for college which had young Gus reeling after she left. So much so, that when he left his hometown, he left everything, even those things he believed in. However, after time away he has come back to make amends with God, his family, and Paige the woman he is still in love with.

Paige is very cautious and somewhat wary of rekindling hers and Gus's relationship again. They have many uphill battles to climb. Another man is vying for Paige's attention, and some big secrets are emerging from Gus's past. Not to mention family issues on both sides and Paige's new career move. But through it all their hard-fought love will be all the more precious after going through these trials.

This is a sweet contemporary romance was nothing at all like I expected. I was shocked at some of the twists that popped up and wondered how in the world those would be overcome. I felt for both Paige and Gus, their feelings, disappointments, and dreams of the future. And I cheered for them in the end.

I was provided a copy of this novel by the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

Tavo has made mistakes in the past, but loving Paige was never one of them. Now, he's back in Valiant trying to rebuild his relationship with his dad and rekindle things with Paige. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem interested in anything more than friendship - and things get even worse when a Ed, superstar, comes to town and hires her to plan events for him. Tavo doesn't trust him as far as he could throw him, but Paige seems interested, despite her denials. Will his efforts to wait for Paige be in vain, or can he hope that she'll finally be ready for more?

I enjoyed this book overall, but had mixed feelings on a few points. The main one was that I often didn't feel like I understood why the characters behaved/reacted how they did. For example, I understand that Paige needed money, but I don't see why that should lead to her going out with a man she patently (and correctly) doesn't trust. And while I enjoyed watching Paige and Tavo interacting, there were times when I just didn't 'get' their responses/emotions. However, it was good to see him gradually reconciling with his dad (and mum), and a good reminder of the need for and meaning of forgiveness. All in all, not bad but I didn't love it. 3.5 stars.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Inspirational Contemporary Romance is one of my favorite genres. Waiting on Paige by Mary Pat Johns is Book 3 in the Romance in Valiant series. I am so glad this has been released as I have been anxiously waiting for this book. The series has been amazing so far!

WOW, this story definitely is all that I expected and more. The book brings us back to Valiant, TX. The 2 main characters are Tavo Morales and Paige Muñoz. Tavo has moved back to Valiant because he needs to be close to his Dad and work things out with him. He also is hoping to rekindle things with Paige. He knows he has always had feelings for her, even though they ended their relationship years ago. Paige is concentrating on her Event Planner Business and isn't certain that she has time for a relationship, especially with Tavo. The unexpected happens and Paige is now helping Tavo with Therapy. She is also spending time with Ed, a celebrity, helping on a project. Tavo doesn't want to show his jealously, yet his feelings are leaning that way. I love that Paige gives Tavo a chance and realizes that she has more feelings for him then she first believed. I truly LOVED the Small Town setting and the stories from the Small Town. The book is about Second Chances, Faith, Reconciliation, and Romance. ! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance genre! SWEET and Beautiful BOOK!

Spoiler warning!
I couldn’t put this book down! Paige and Tavo’s story is a gorgeous, heartfelt romance about love and embracing life’s unexpected turns.

Paige and Tavo reconnect at a mutual friend’s wedding after some years apart, and their chemistry is undeniable. Just when you think they’re on the path back to each other, Tavo learns he has a child whose mother has passed away, leaving him suddenly a single dad. My heart broke for him, and I loved how the author handled such a delicate situation with compassion and realism.

Paige’s struggle felt so authentic—her doubts about stepping into a ready-made family, her fear of getting hurt again, and the deep love she still has for Tavo. The emotional push and pull kept me completely invested, rooting for them to find their way back together.

The Texas setting added charm and warmth, and the side characters (the friends we know from previous books in the series) made the story feel even richer. By the time Paige and Tavo finally chose each other and their new future, I was smiling and kicking my feet.

This is the perfect read for anyone who loves second-chance romances with real emotional depth and a swoon-worthy HEA. Highly recommend!

Waitin’ on Paige by Mary Pat Johns is the fourth book in the Romance in Valiant series. This story focuses on Paige, but includes all of my favorite characters from the first three stories. This contemporary romance will keep you reading. Tavo Morales returned to town to rekindle the relationship with the only woman he loved. Paige Munoz aims to make her new event planning business a success. But when a Hollywood star comes to town and starts paying attention to Paige, she has to decide what really matters.

The reality of relationships gone right or wrong in this story help make the storylines come to life. Paige’s younger twin brothers add and interesting dynamic to the story. Once I began reading, I found myself unable to put the book down.

While, I believe you could read this book on its own, I believe you will appreciate it most by reading the books in order. So if you want a contemporary romance, check out Waitin’ on Paige by Mary Pat Johns and the rest of the Romance in Valiant series

This is my first foray into Mary Pat Johns’s world of Valiant, Texas, but it certainly won’t be my last. After a somewhat slow beginning for me, Waitin' on Paige hooked me in at about the 25% mark and kept me turning the pages to see how Paige and Tavo overcame their own personal struggles and the struggles of their past relationship.

I’m relatively new to reading Christian fiction in general, so having faith-based elements and the characters communicating with and asking for help from God in their struggles was refreshing, and I appreciated that the book wasn’t “preachy”.

I would like to go back and read the other books in the series (as well as any additional books that are published in this series and by this author).

Before reading this book, I'd read the first in the series but not the other two. My lack of reading the two in the middle didn’t hamper my ability to understand what was happening in this book. While it can be enjoyed without the other books, I do suggest going back and reading them first, especially if you already know you’re going to anyway. Not only will this bring greater depth to the characters in this new story, details from the other books are shared in this one. So, if you want to avoid spoilers, just get all of them and read them in order. Though I didn’t do the same, I plan on going back to catch up with the ones I missed.

Waitin’ on Paige is a quick, enjoyable read. It took me two days to finish, but only because I had other work I had to do the day I began reading. It’s a feel-good story with just enough roadblocks on the way to romance to keep it interesting.

Early likable character fill the pages. Main characters from the previous books join the main characters of this one.Their friendships are relatable, and they’re a group you wouldn’t mind hanging out with in real life on a Friday night. They care about each other and know how to have a good time together.

And, like the character, Valiant seems like a great place to visit. It’s not perfect and the people who live there aren’t either, but it feels like a throwback to small town life where everyone spends Friday night at the football game and lazy afternoons in the backyard after church on Sunday. Kind of idyllic in the best way.

One theme presented is the idea of doing the wrong thing for the right reason (and a little bit the wrong reason, to be honest). It’s so relatable. Who hasn’t talked themselves into a decision, justifying it each step of the way? And if the object of our choice is the Hollywood star we’ve admired from afar, who wouldn’t be starry eyed enough to fall for charm? Between current choices and past regrets, there’s a lot in this book that could bring the mood down. However, the author does a great job of keeping the tone on the lighter side.

I really loved this story. For my review of Waitin’ on Paige, I give it a solid four stars. It’s an easy, enjoyable read for a relaxing afternoon of reading. I received a copy of this book through JustRead Tours. All opinions and reviews are my own and freely. given.

Gus (or Tavo, from Gustavo) and Paige were high school sweethearts. Her father was away more than he was home, leaving her felling abandoned. She left for college, which Gus saw as abandoning him. So he moved to Frisco, and Paige felt he abandoned her.

Gus returns to Valiant to mend fences with his dad, with Paige, and with God. His mother abandoned the family and now she’s back. How can he forgive her. Then a girlfriend from his San Antonio days comes with an explosive revelation.

Both Gus and Paige need to plumb the depths of their emotions and rely on God, not their own strength and determination.

This is book four in the Valiant series. While it can stand on its own, reading the others first would be helpful to understand the network of friends. Paige was hard for me to warm up to. She seemed unfair to Gus, but she refused to open herself to more abandonment.

The story is a nice look at second chances. The characters are good with a few flaws. I like how the author illustrates forgiveness, trust and faith as our main characters try to reconnect. There are several other secondary characters that add to the story. The setting in a small Texas town brings the story to life. I did wonder why a big time Hollywood celebrity wanted to put roots down in this little town. This adds a bit of intrigue to the already fun story.

The relationship between Paige and Tavo is paced well and explores their past. Will they be able to reconnect or will the past keep them apart? Good story with a beautiful faith element that makes this an easy to like book. Even though this book is in a series I found it easy to follow .

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Waitin’ On Paige is a fun, lighthearted romcom about second chances and sweet romance.
Tavo is carrying secrets and hoping to make some amends while stirring the embers of an old relationship.

Paige is doing her best to help her family while trying to get her event planning business off the ground. She’s been hurt by the officer she once loved and her heart is closed to new possibilities.

A chance accident forces the two into close proximity, and then the question becomes will they or won’t they reunite, especially when Tavo’s secret is finally revealed.

I enjoyed my time with these two characters. I think you will too.

I received an advance copy from the publisher. My review has not been solicited and I’m under no obligation.

This a wonderful second chance romance. It is well written with amazing characters. This is a contemporary fiction. A clean, faith based romance with focus on repentance and rejuvenating your relationship with the Lord. Paige and Tavo were close once but went their separate ways. When they came back together the romantic tension between them was as hot as a firecracker. But there was still questions??? I got so much more out of this story than the typical romance. It truly brought to light what true repentance is all about. I loved it.

LOVED “WAITING’ON PAIGE”
There is nothing I like better than getting cozy with a good book in my hands! I like several different genres, but Contemporary Christian Fiction is my favorite. I like the mystery and tension of a sweet romance along with some humor, drama, plus uplifting, spiritual moments where we learn something about the faithfulness of God. “Waiting’ on Paige” fulfilled my expectations and then some. Once I picked it up I could not put it down! Great read!

Waitin’ On Paige

I feel like I’ve known Paige and Gus and their friends and family all my life. Their story is sprinkled with romance and wit. When encountering some difficult life challenges, turning to God for guidance proves invaluable. The story then unfolds with suspense and surprise. I certainly recommend this read!

This is such a easy and nice read. It was something different for me. Now I have to go back and read the other 3. I don't think it will disappoint. A good love story without all the gritty.
