On Solid Ground: Abby's Freedom

Rate this book
Abigail’s life hung in the balance after Tommy’s vicious attack on her and her unborn babies during a drug induced rage. Abigail had done everything she could to get away from Tommy. She moved out of his house, broke off their relationship, even started to fall in love with Jason but Tommy would not let her go. She wouldn’t be allowed to live a happy life without him in it.
As she awakens in a hospital bed, just days after the brutal attack, her life has been irrevocably changed. A life was lost while another struggles. Though she has support from her family and friends, she continues to fall down the rabbit hole of self-loathing.
Jason won’t leave her side, but will their relationship be strong enough to make it through the pain and turmoil of Abby’s ordeal? Will their love be enough to hold them together when a stalker threatens to destroy everything they have? Will Abby and Jason survive?

About the author

V.E. Avance

V.E. Avance grew up in Central California. She is a survivor of both child abuse and domestic violence. Instead of allowing her circumstances to define her, she has risen above and beyond. Though it hasn't always been an easy road, she chose to fight and struggle to pull herself from the depths of depression and anxiety. Though she cannot change the past, she is solely in charge of her future and refused to continue down the path of self-destruction that her abusers instilled in her.

On the Edge series was developed out of her strong will and determination. At the time the books were written, past events were haunting her every thought. She, like her main character, was falling down a rabbit hole. With every word she wrote, she was able to pull herself out of that hole. Now that Abby's story is done, V.E. Avance is on solid ground herself.

Omg! Where do I begin? First, if you felt the first book lacked a little something don't let that be the reason you don't read this book. This is definitely written alot stronger and better then the first one. I loved how it started. From Abigail's eyes. I won't let it is hard for me to write this without spoilers. Seeing what Abigail goes through with the twins pulls at the strings of your heart. Feeling the torture she goes through with everything dealing with her and Tommy makes you as fearful as she is. You really get all the emotions she gets and then some. V.E Avance through in some twist and shocking events you wouldn't have seen coming. I'm still speechless about a shocking revelation made during this. It left me speechless. I closed the boom after it and thought about it. Kept think "Holy Crap".

You need to read this whether you liked On the Edge or not.

After you read the first book ON THE EDGE your understanding of this book will make your heart hurt for Abby. Abby has a long tough road ahead of her. she finds strength in her family that she thought she didnt have. have Kleenex ready cause you will need them. please get both On the edge and On solid ground.

This book was a great second book in the series and a great ending to the series. When you think about what people go through that Abby had gone through, some people are not as lucky as she is which is what they were trying to get through to people. I think this was well written and really shows what could happen to people and what people do not actually know could happen. The author goes into detail and brings things into life. When I was reading it, I got lost in the book, I could feel myself as if I was Abby. I cried in the book of course at all the hurt that she was going through and what all she had to endure. It is a book that I think anyone that has a teenage daughter should really read and get to know what is going on. Girls really should read this also so that way they know what could happen to them if they were to stay in that kind of relationship. When you look at what other ladies go through and can get away from then they can show that anyone is strong enough to stop it. People are going through it all the time and sometimes people are able to hide it and of course ladies usually will hide it from their family because they believe that they brought it on themselves. She shows exactly what ladies normally do in the situations that they are in. This was a great read and a very good job on what she was doing. Can not wait for more books to come out by this author so I can keep reading more great books by her. Great job!

This picks up right where On The Edge left off, Abby awakens from the attack she suffered at the hands of Tommy. Her life is turned upside down when she realises she is no longer pregnant.
She is not the only one fighting for her life, her daughter Addy is in critical condition as she is very premature. Unfortunately, Addy’s twin Kylie didn’t make it. As Tommy stabbed Abby, the knife killed poor Kylie.
Tommy is arrested but the torture and torment doesn’t end there, someone is stalking her, breaking into her house, trashing her car. Threatening not only her but her surviving daughter too. This tests all relationships. Friends, family and her bond with her new boyfriend Jason.
Abby suffers a lot of mental abuse throughout this book.
Once again V.E. Avance has done an incredible job with this book. You can feel the emotions pouring out of this. To say I enjoyed reading this, as with the last one is strange due to the content. But I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Abby has been through hell. As she is healing and praying for her baby to make it she is struggling with all of it. She has support from her family and Jason but she feels that everything that has happened is her fault. She must work through all of this to truly be free of Tommy and be with Jason. As she is coming to terms with it all there is someone terrorizing her and Jason. This person does not want her to be happy. No matter what else is going on she is working her way forward to a beautiful future with Jason and her baby. Will she find true freedom from her past or will it all come crashing down?

V.E. Avance is an awesome writer. Her work pulls you in and does not let go!

Wow, again amazing, Abigail is such a strong woman, she went through the abuse, and the story of her survival, and how she manages with it day to day is empowering. The love of Jason gets her though it. I kept wanting to say HELLO he isn't going to leave you. lol. I even cried reading this book, it brought out such strong emotions in me foe the characters, I got so attached to them.
