This is one of the books that I just wanted to get it over with, I almost threw it away 5 times! it took me one whole month to finish it although it's only around 180 pages.

RM Williams is a name known to us all, but what do we know of the man, really? This slim volume, which is a collection of vignettes concerning his encounters with various people, was published when he was 81.

The encounters themselves are 'odd', concerning ordinary (well, ordinary for their time) people he met as he wandered around and I felt that none of them amounted to much of a story.

I found the writing to be not brilliant, a bit awkward in places, and there is too much of his own opinion and old-man philosophy coming through for my liking. There are also many instances where he has alluded to 'other' problems and conflicts in his world which would probably have been more interesting.
