The First Draft
The first draft is always a little messy...
On the surface, Oliver has everything - he's popular, he's handsome and he's one of the best writers on his Creative Writing course without even trying. But behind closed doors, he knows something is missing. Not even his casual relationship with his best friend can fill the void in his chest.
Enter Willow. She's a mess in her own right, working multiple jobs to keep her head above water, all whilst chasing a coveted spot in the university magazine. She keeps herself to herself, especially because she doesn't want people sticking their noses in her past. But now Oliver has taken an interest in her, and she can't deny that there's chemistry there.
They're an unlikely pair, but now that they've started writing the story between them, there's no way they can stop until it's finished. But first drafts don't always work out, especially when the characters have a mind of their own...

I loved this. Such a fun and easy read to sink into.
We have Oliver. A dark past, but everything handed to him.
Then Willow. A dark past, and nothing handed to her.
They're both on the same university course, both have the same interests, and now are going to find some interest in eachother. Things might get messy.
I really enjoyed reading about two imperfect people who have both, in their own ways, lost a bit hope. And now, together, trying to work towards seeing a brighter future. But to get to that point as a couple and as individuals involves alot of stuff! Cute dates, steamy nights, broken hearts, bad friends, good friends, complicated families, secrets revealed. The navity of being young. The calling of jobs and worklife. You name it. It's here to read!
I particularly loved the Liverpool setting, the academic setting, and having a love/hate relationship with one particular character! Honey's descriptions were really lovely, especially on the mental health aspects and some of the loneliness the characters felt.
It's a romantic coming of an age story, that delves mostly into the importance of holding onto hope.

I absolutely loved this sweet romance following two aspiring writers, Oliver and Willow, who live two completely different lives but not without hardship. Oliver, popular and wealthy, has had everything given to him, but recently had his family torn apart in a devastating accident. Willow is working multiple jobs to stay afloat and hasn't had much of a social life because of it. When Oliver and Willow finally decide to give each other a chance at romance, they start to discover they might have more in common than they thought, but face a tough start and some judgment from their peers.
Both characters were written so realistically, and I often found myself relating to them. Once we got to know the characters, it was easy to fall in love with them and see that despite how they seem on the outside, they both have a softer side. I really loved Willow's take-me-as-I-am attitude and how she wasn't willing to change herself to be liked or respected more! She was my favourite character and I absolutely loved reading her POVs :)

An enjoyable short story about two people, Oliver and Willow, who have an attraction towards each other, finding their way to be together but first overcoming obstacles that hold them back. Oliver has to deal with Violet, his friend who wants to be more and they both have past family issues that they are trying to get through. They deal with delicate situations along the way. I loved the characters.
