Stuart Jones has a reputation—take a guy on a date, get him into bed, and then forget him. He’s grown up tough, both on the outside and in, and he has no room in his life for emotional distractions.
And then he meets Danny, and he can’t take his eyes off him. Doesn’t want to. Wants nothing more than to get to know Danny, everything about him—has no real idea why he’s so desperate for it but he can’t ignore it, this feeling thrumming through his veins…this emotion. Because Danny’s the one to slip under the wire, to get beneath Stuart’s skin, to make him want .
Only Danny’s got a pretty major hang-up—he can't be touched, not intimately. He suffered a trauma two years ago and he hasn’t let anyone near him since. And it’s not just mental scars he’s battling—he wears on his body the physical reminder of what happened to him, something he never thought he’d let any man see. But Stuart’s not just any man, and he might just be the one to help Danny battle his demons and take control of his desires once again.

I never got into this novel, since the start we could clearly see Ricky's feelings for his friend. It's obvious though that they would never end together, this left me with a negative feeling right at the start increasing with every scene we could see Ricky's heart breaking. He not only helped his best friend through a traumatic event, rescued his life, listened to him always and never got angry at how childish Danny sometimes acted and included him with his friends. This is what I see as love, the unconditional caring. To have that tossed over ruined the book for me.
Stuart unfortunately felt like a bad guy, he has used guys without a care. He was a drug dealer. We never saw more of his past, but comparing him to Rick he came up short. Also I hate when characters don't have to face punishments for their crimes. I would have liked to have a character that cares about people not just those close to him.
After all that why did I give three stars? Simply because it was great writing. The author creates amazing secondary characters, worked a little to well for Rick... Danny's systematic healing was well done, I also loved how carefully Stuart approached him.
One last thing, I absolutely loved her The Best Man series.
Of course it's a cliff hanger, it's a serial series, I would expect no less.
Very promising start. I really can't say if the whole will be great or a dud yet...but so far it's looking good. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
This is a nice start to the series. The characters are interesting. Danny sounds like a sweetheart, and Stuart is Irish (need I say more?) I'm not really sure about Ricky.... his behaviour throws me off.
This has piqued my interest in continuing the serial. I'd probably prefer to know how many 'episodes' there were, and buy it as a 'box set', but I'm taking a chance.
30% into this new series and I thought Danny was a pushover, Ricky was a conniving little shit and Stuart was your typical rich boy. There wasn't much change by the end of the first installment.
I failed to understand why Danny went along with what Ricky said and advised him. I failed to understand why Stuart Jones, Casanova and all around fabulous, is smitten with a mere caterer he barely glances at when they first meet. Then Stuart gets pissed off one of his one night stands lies to Danny (who, by the way, takes everything he is being told at face value and believes everything). And just to add more tension and mystery to the pair (not really) we have Danny mumbling something about not liking to be touched. Didn't really convince me to go ahead with the story. It was more the author's previous works that makes me want to continue reading this.

This review will be mostly a general review of entire series.
If someone had taken the time to edit and check and double check for errors I would have considered giving 4 stars. There were so many errors though out the entire series that I almost gave it 2 stars. The relationship between the two MCs and the patience of Stuart made me give the 3 stars.
Danny is the victim of a violent crime and suffers severe PTSD. He and his friend Richard run a catering business. Richard knew Danny before the Incident. He takes care of Danny. Maybe he could be called an enabler. Stuart, a club owner, was mesmerized by Danny from their first meeting.
He sat there quietly, drinking, half listening to the muted voices of Sadie and the caterers. One voice kept coming through stronger, though; a loud, brash voice, a distinct accent, then a laugh, the most atrocious laugh, so bad that Stuart was intrigued enough to get up and go out to investigate.
Sadie was supervising two men arranging trays of food across the large table set up by the bar. They were all three chatting as they worked, although Stuart did n't pay any attention to what they were saying. His focus was caught. Caught on the man with the loud, brash voice - Manchester, definitely - the golden skin, the lithe body. The man grinned at something Sadie said to him and Stuart held his breath at the sight. This...was unexpected.
Stuart couldn't look away.
"Isn't that right, boss?" Sadie was saying to him now, grinning up at him mischievously.
"What"" Stuart said, distracted. The golden-skinned man had found him looking and they held eye contact for a moment or five, Stuart hit with some kind of jolt in his chest, until the man's eyelids fluttered down coyly and he looked away, fumbled with some plastic wrap on a tray.
I read all of the series one right after the other. I had too.
This is the second series by Carson I've read and on which I have to give props. Although there's a fine line between misunderstandings and bumblings which create clashes and chemistry and those which feel a bit aimlessly peripatetic, Carson keeps the action moving along. Again, the detail she pays to her supporting cast as well as the skillsets and backgrounds of the MCs put more meat on the bones of her shorts than many others in the genre.
Otherwise, it might have been good. I did feel a little like there were several elements that were seriously unexplained. I guess they are supposed to be included in the next parts, but I don't think I will ever find out. Have I mentioned I HATE SERIALS!!!
Cliffhanger ending. Not acceptable when not statedin blurp. Will not be buying book 2, even though I would have liked to know what happens.
Story was a bit rushed and a td on the overly dramatic side, but easily read and enjoyable, if you are willing to accept that it in no way works alone, you need to buy the second book and probably the remaining 4 after that as well...
This was a nice start to a series. It was a bit abrupt for the MC to act like he was. The overall plot was predictable but it worked. I enjoyed the story but I do wish it wasn't a serial like it is set up.
I really hate when books leave you hanging but this book was actually interesting. No sex but lots of tension. The story really grabs you and pulls you in so you don't really miss the sex. Can't wait to read episode two!
The characters are great, I loved how rich the characters seemed to be. So much depth. This will be the written review on all six books being that I have completed the series. I just couldn't stop to write the review till it was over.
