Finally! A finance book focused on the Australian population. Includes great detail on super, tax, debt and more. I will be going back to re-read chapters over the coming years. Highly recommended.
This book caters to a broad general audience with high level information about super and taxes that you could commonly find online on the ATO website mixed with occasional generic advice from “retire early” communities such as FIRE. If you don’t have your finances in order or have limited knowledge then maybe this book will be helpful to you.
While I was excited to receive this book as a pre order it doesn’t match the same level of depth and technicality that James’ videos did in explaining different tax structures and ways to optimise your financial situation, etc. Frankly I struggled to understand who exactly was the target audience of this book as the content jumped around a bit in depth, but also relevance to different age groups (in reference to their stage of retirement). There was little additional insight and it felt more like a generic summary than expert level advice from a seasoned financial advisor.
The best chapters were in the middle about super which were quite interesting and had some actual insights to it.
I don’t recommend going out of your way to reading this.
