Book 1: Christmas Rodeo Killer Book 2: Deadly Rodeo Threat
Award-winning, bestselling author Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings, you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.
She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

I absolutely flew through this book. It was suspenseful, emotional, and completely page turning from start to finish.
When Lisa goes missing, it’s up to her best friend, Sheriff Izzie, and her brother Logan to find her before it’s too late. Izzie feels she has everything to prove, while Logan is forced to face the regret of a strained relationship with his sister. As they work together, their shared history and complicated past add another layer of tension to an already intense investigation. The deeper they dig, the more disturbing the clues become, pointing toward the work of a serial killer!
Years ago, Izzie rejected Logan’s romantic interest, but now, working side by side, old feelings begin to resurface.... can they get a second chance to get it right?!
The balance of suspense, mystery, and romance was done so well, and I loved the added depth from the community, family, and coworkers. it really enhanced the overall vibe of the story.
I gave this 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, and this review reflects my honest opinion.
Deadly Rodeo Threat by Sami A. Abrams is an explosive, run from danger story. Isabelle Sinclair is determined to find her missing friend, and so is Logan Russell. He's back in town to track down his missing twin. But when Isabelle is attacked, he steps in to help her investigate.
I love this story! From the danger to the romance, this story has everything I love. Working dogs, action, a great spiritual message, danger, second chance at romance, military men, a woman sheriff, and a serial killer on the loose. The story is fast-paced and digs deep. You'll root for Isabelle and the crime is super creepy! If you like a fast moving story that has a strong message of hope and redemption, look no further than Deadly Rodeo Threat.
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
WOW! Double WOW! This book was really good. Barrel racing girls are missing. Sheriff Izzie's best friend, Lisa, is one of them. Lisa's twin brother , Logan, a Navy Seal, is heading home because he is also worried after not hearing from Lisa. Izzie and Logan team up and look for her. Then Izzie gets targeted. Who is behind it and will they find Lisa in time? A definite recommendation!
I received an ARC . My review is entirely my own . Great Story and wonderful characters. Full of action and plot twists. Definitely recommend. looking forward to reading more books by this author.
Sami A. Abrams has done it again!! Deadly Rodeo Threat is a perfect quick-read filled with threats, danger, emotions uncovered and faith beyond measure. I loved every angle and moment spent reading this ARC. This is so close to the perfect storm and a fantastic addition to this series!! I give it 5 out of 5 stars because of the creativity, action, danger and the perfect mix of story-telling this author has always blessed her readers with!!!
"The SEALs had taught him discipline. To strategize. To come up with backup plans for his backups. But with his sister involved and Izzie’s life threatened, his training jumped out of the plane and free-fell to the earth. He prayed the parachute would open before he hit the ground and his training would overtake his panic."
As sheriff, Izzie wants to show she is worthy of the position. When her best friend seems to have gone missing, she has to admit she needs some help. Especially since someone seems to be after her.
Daniel is used to rushing into danger. But with his sister and now Izzy involved, he doesn't want his actions to put them even more at risk. Can they discover the culprit and save his sister in time?
This suspense book is a race against the clock. Matching up the clues is challenging. I really enjoyed this book! And the romance is also really sweet!
This book is part of a series. I am glad that I read the other title first. But one could follow along if they started with this book.
I did receive an advanced copy of this book. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.
Another fast paced and dangerous story that kept my attention. This story was unique too because it revolved around the rodeo.
The real star of the book was Shadow, the emotional support dog. His ability to minister to the characters throughout the book was so sweet.
"She deserved to soar in life and in her job" I loved Logan saw the best in Izzie and wanted her to believe it too. It was great to see him be willing to step back and let her lead and find her confidence!
The relationships between the siblings in the book was special as well. Throughout the book they were ready to dish out the humor but could rein it in and provide the love and support that was needed.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.
This is the second book in the series and is a standalone book. The story is about Logan Russell, a Navy SEAL, whose twin sister Lisa disappears. Lisa is also friends with Izzie, the town’s sheriff, who is trying to figure out what happened. Logan and Izzie knew each other in high school and even though there is tension between them, they decide to work together and with other law enforcement to investigate Lisa’s disappearance and other missing barrel racers. Unfortunately, Izzie is now a target. The action and suspense are maintained throughout the story. Both Izzie and Logan are working through self-doubt and trying to rely on their faith while investigating. Izzie’s family as well as Logan’s service dog (what a cutie) play an important part in supporting them. I love the family interactions and their obvious love. I voluntarily read an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I got the honor to read an advanced copy of the second book in the Stone Creek Ranch series by Sami Abrams. This book was Izzie Sinclair's and Logan Russell's story and I absolutely loved the book. I had a hard time putting it down from the first moment I began reading it. I fell in love with Logan's service dog Shadow and enjoyed reading as Logan helped Izzie find her way back to trusting in God and Logan had to learn to heal from the survivor's guilt left was his last mission overseas. Yet another excellent read and I cannot wait to read more in the series.
The dust, the adrenaline, the knowledge that one wrong move can cost everything at a rodeo at night. Deadly Rodeo Threat captures that tension … tossing its characters into a race where the stakes are not just ribbons and trophies, but life itself.
For Navy SEAL Logan Russell, every lead in his sister’s disappearance feels like a gate opening on a wild, unbroken horse: unpredictable, high stakes, no room for second-guessing. His pursuit barrels him straight into the woods and right into the path of Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair, a woman as steady and determined as any champion rider, holding her own in a world where danger runs just beneath the surface.
The story twists, bucks, and refuses to be tamed. Each new revelation threatens to throw Logan and Izzie off course. Missing barrel racers, masked threats, evidence that won’t stay put. The suspense never lets up from the opening scene, and through it all, both characters find themselves tightening their grip not only on the investigation, but on faith that is tested with every turn.
The prayers and confessions scattered throughout are as honest as any rider thrown in the dirt: “God, help me with this? I’m second guessing everything.” There’s no bravado here, only the kind of humility that comes when you know you can’t outmuscle what you’re up against. Logan’s journey is a slow ride toward surrender: “…he trusted God …” “God became very real … I couldn’t deny His existence any longer …” “I trust God to do His thing.”
Even when fear tries to rope her in, Izzie’s mother reminds her—sometimes in a rodeo, you can only control your own ride, not what’s waiting in the chute: “Maybe it’s time for you to trust God with your fears.”
The story grounds itself in the truth of Psalm 73:26 … when your own strength is spent, when you’re thrown or left trailing behind, God’s strength never fails.
Deadly Rodeo Threat is for every reader who loves suspense as relentless as a midnight stampede, with faith braided tightly through every obstacle. There’s no slowing down, no turning back … just grit, prayer, and the courage to ride out the dark.
The journey is as much about finding hope after the storm as it is about facing down the darkness itself. There is resolution, and the kind that makes you breathe easier after the last page.
If you’ve ever held your breath waiting for the gate to open … or for an answer to prayer … this story will find you.
I received a digital ARC from the publisher and NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing and story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
I could not put this down! Deadly Rodeo Threat by Sami Abrams is a gripping inspirational romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat! You will definitely want to allot some time in your day to read this because once you start, you won’t stop.
Izzie and Logan were amazing characters. Izzie, the town’s sheriff, had a huge amount of confidence until her ex-boyfriend gaslighted her into believing she was not capable of a leadership role in law enforcement. She’s been investigating her best friend’s disappearance for the past two months. Lisa was last seen at the rodeo she’d just performed in. Lisa’s twin Logan is back in town to see why he hasn’t heard from her. Logan has his own emotional issues that he’s been dealing with since he was traumatically injured in a Navy SEAL mission. His support dog, Shadow, has been a huge help in his healing though he still has a way to go. When Logan finds out that Lisa truly is missing and may be in serious danger, he insists upon helping Izzie in her mission to locate Lisa. When a body is uncovered and several other similar missing female rodeo stars are seemingly connected to Lisa’s disappearance, they fear the worst. And the unknown suspect wants Izzie out of the picture…for good.
Deadly Rodeo Threat is suspense at its best! It has nonstop, heart pumping action, and the main characters are very realistic with emotional depth who experience growth throughout the story. I loved Shadow and Izzie’s brother Will…in that order! (I’m looking forward to a story with Will as the main character!!) A thread of faith is weaved into the story very naturally, and it brings another layer of depth to this book. I highly recommend this captivating, thrilling Love Inspired Suspense!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Wow! This book will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire way!
From the opening chapter to the final, Ms. Abrams keeps you figuratively checking your back as she weaves you through Sheriff Isabelle "Izzie" Sinclair's investigation into her missing friend Lisa and several other women she discovers missing with the same "MO". When an anonymous tip leads her to discover one of the missing women....all the action begins! Logan Russell, Lisa's twin brother, on medical leave from the NAVY Seals, enters in with his emotional support dog, Shadow, just in time to save Izzie. From this point on, there are so many twists and turns and obstacles that come along the way as Izzie with Logan continue to investigate the missing women. Each step closer brings them trouble.
I was guessing the entire time and had no idea who in the end was responsible, which to me is a well written book. Very fast paced. There is no a lot of "romance" between our male and female leads as much of the focus is more on solving the mystery but I still enjoyed Izzie and Logan as an item. They have history so I know their relationship has depth already.
In addition to finding where Lisa is, you'll also see a running theme of being able to move forward from your past and rid yourself of lies that have hurt you....to believe in yourself and what you can do. I loved the faith elements weaved in throughout the story as well.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin - Romance for the advanced copy of the book. All my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
Oh my goodness!! I absolutely fell in love with Deadly Rodeo Threat!! I have read several books by Ms Abrams and never been disappointed!! This author knows how to grab your attention from the beginning to the end of the story!! I enjoyed getting to know Logan and Izzie. With women vanishing without a trace it's up to Logan and Izzy to solve what happened to them. With Logan's sister aka Izzy's best friend missing it becomes personal for these two. I couldn't put this page turner down!! I had my suspicions of who the unexpected mysterious bad guy was but honestly wasn't sure. Lots of exciting, intense, heart stopping heart pounding sitting on the edge of your seat suspense!! It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend going back and checking out book one too!! A must read for sure!! I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This is the fifth book I have read by this author. It is the second book in the Stone Creek Ranch series. You do not have to read the first book in the series to read and enjoy this one. The main characters are Logan Russell and Isabelle Sinclair. They have an important person to them in common, Lisa Russell. She is the twin sister of Logan and the best friend of Isabelle. This novel was really well written. It has all of the elements of a good suspense who done it plot. It will keep you guessing from the very beginning to the very end and leaving you wanting more. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. The opinions in this review are my own.
DEADLY RODEO THREAT by Sami A. Abrams is the captivating, adrenaline pumping story of Sheriff Isabelle “Izzy” Sinclair and former Navy SEAL Logan Russell as they try to figure out the disappearance of Lisa Russell, Logan’s twin sister. Working together as a team, piecing together clues and following leads, can they find Lisa – alive?
Younger Izzy’s father’s betrayal had left her raw to romance. It resulted in her telling Logan “NO” when he asked her for a date. While living in Dallas, her ex-boyfriend’s deception and constant demeaning left her in even more of a “no dating/romance” zone. While not physically abusive, Will’s comments left her second guessing her decisions and feeling like she must constantly prove that she’s capable of doing her job. What will it take for her to regain her self-esteem?
Izzy’s early rejecting hurt. Something Logan’s never really gotten over. He joining the Navy and becoming a SEAL. While he survived his last mission, he’s partner and best friend didn’t. That mission left him with multiple injuries, PTSD and survivor’s guilt. While he had thought he would be a career man, back stateside healing from his injuries, he’s decided to leave the military. His commanding officer insisted that he take Shadow, a psychiatric service dog, whose previous owner had died. Now he’s back in Rollin determined to figure out what happened to his sister and to find her. He never dreamed that the first time seeing his first love would be in a dangerous and deadly situation. Can he save her or while any hopes of a second chance be taken out of his hands?
Can Izzy, Logan and Daniel, Izzy’s brother and part-time deputy sheriff, using their individual strengths, manage to sift through all the clues in time to save Lisa? Can Izzy withstand all the assaults on her body from someone that definitely does not want her working this case? Through the process of refusing to give up or give merit to negative thought, will Izzy and Logan be able the make peace with the past and possibly work towards a personal future? Can a meaningful talk where secrets are revealed be beneficial to both parties?
DEADLY RODEO THREAT is an exceptional story. The suspense will keep you turning pages on this can’t put down book while the romance, that started to bloom years ago, is nurtured and finally begins to sweetly bloom. Sami A. Abrams gives us a story of edge-of-your-seat danger, riveting suspense, forgiveness, acceptance, never giving up, romance, second chances and wraps it with a wonderful thread of faith. DEADLY RODEO THREAT is absolutely FIVE STAR reading that I highly recommend to everyone!
While DEADLY RODEO THREAT is the second book in the Stone Creek Ranch series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone book.
I received an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own. #DeadlyRodeoThreat #StoneCreekRanch #SamiAAbrams #LoveInspiredSuspense #InspirationalRomance
Emotional depth, detailed action scenes, and spectacular characters of the human and canine varieties work in harmony to make this another engaging story by this author . . .
Author Sami A. Abrams is one of my favorite writers so I am always thrilled when I have an opportunity to read one of her LIS inspirational romances. I feel 'Deadly Rodeo Threat' is an excellent addition to the author's bibliography.
Navy SEAL Logan Russell has returned to his hometown to find his twin sister, Lisa. She recently disappeared under questionable circumstances; and except for one text to her best friend, Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair, no one has heard from Lisa.
Logan is still suffering the after-effects of his final military operation overseas which left him battered and injured emotionally and physically. His commanding officer located a trained psychiatric service dog for Logan who had previously worked with another veteran with PTSD. Shadow is helping Logan to heal emotionally, and Logan has come to rely on Shadow to assist when he experiences flashbacks and nightmares.
This intense story includes many twists and turns as 'Izzie' and Logan and the rest of their team frantically search for Lisa. As they hone in on the villain, Izzie relies on Logan's military experience to aid her in the areas of analyzing the evidence and strategizing how to catch the perpetrator. Time is of the essence before Lisa is fatally injured.
Shadow was one of my favorite characters in this story because of his excellent training as a service dog, but also because he aided the characters in a variety of ways.
Logan is a stand-up guy and was all-in when it came to assisting Izzie's investigation as they searched for his twin. Izzie suffers from her own self-doubt and trauma from people who harmed her in the past. As the story moved forward these two built upon their previous bond from when they were in high school.
This story has a strong faith theme and is completely clean in language and content.
I received a copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.
Book 2 of 3: Stone Creek Ranch A trail of missing women leads him right into a killer’s trap.
When his twin sister disappears, Navy SEAL Logan Russell’s search for her leads him deep into the woods, where he finds her best friend in the clutches of a masked assailant. Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair is determined to solve Lisa’s mysterious disappearance the night of her last rodeo—and someone will do anything to keep her from digging too deep. When crucial evidence links Lisa’s case to a string of barrel racers who’ve also vanished, Logan and Izzie fight against the clock to track down a suspected serial killer. But when he sets his sights on Izzie, can they outsmart their enemy before both women end up dead? My favorite quote is I know better than to think she went to Peru.” Izzie had received a text message from Lisa the day after one of Marshall County’s preseason rodeos about a last-minute opportunity to go on a mission trip. Not once had her friend mentioned she’d put her name in to volunteer until that moment. Strike one. And telling her over text and not in person. Strike two. “I know she’s in trouble, Daniel. There’s no evidence except her abrupt departure and Hope Horizon not having a record of her that says otherwise. Not a single clue. Even her truck is gone. But I feel it deep down in my bones. Something happened the night of the rodeo.” I recommend this book. Deadly Rodeo Threat by Sami A. Abrams is a 5-star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Sami A. Abrams. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own. From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.
When barrel racers start disappearing after competing in rodeos, Sheriff Isabelle ‘Izzie’ Sinclair of Rollins, Texas is tasked with hunting down the kidnapper. The stakes increase when her best friend, Lisa Russel, is taken.
Lisa’s twin brother, Navy SEAL Logan Russell, returns home fighting PTSD when he learns of his twin’s disappearance. With so much invested in the kidnapping, Logan is drawn to help Izzie investigate, and their relationship deepens.
Author Sami A. Abrams explores survivor’s guilt, gaslighting, and traumatic pasts. She shows that her main characters’ pasts have shaped them, but they didn’t let it define them. I loved watching their faith increase once they were able to move on from their painful past and see God as someone they could trust. The second-chance romance twinned with fledgling faith was a perfect balance to the nail-biting suspense.
Abrams shows that despite the crippling effect of survivor’s guilt and/or self-blame, Logan and Izzie push past it and discover that anything is possible with love and trust.
Abrams is adept at balancing the thrill of danger with the warmth of love. I was deeply invested in her edgy story and found myself nervously flipping pages to solve the kidnapping mystery while cheering on love amidst chaos.
Before I started this book, I’d never heard of barrel racing. I innocently thought that competitors tried to stay upright on a rolling barrel!!! Ugh. City Girl. 🙄🙈 I headed to Google and found myself down a rabbit hole, discovering this exceptional talent.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.
The story starts with a bang and it continues. We start with Sheriff Izzie Sinclair being called to a report of a body being found. No idea if it's human or animal. Her best friend Lisa is missing and she's praying it's not her. Going on her own was a mistake as she is attacked. Starting a series of events.
Logan Russell is Lisa's twin and as he arrives back to his home town he comes across Izzie in danger and arrives just in time. It is here he also learns Lisa is missing. They work out that barrel racers are being targeted. Logan is suffering from PSTD and has a support dog Shadow who is a character in himself.
This book had me guessing as more things seem to be happening to Izzie its clear someone will stop at nothing to make her stop searching for answers. Logan is determined to help. You could sense the danger all the time and feel it being ramped up. At the same time it wasn't to the point of excess. I was happy with the outcome and look forward to the next books.
The book deals with different types of abuse from psychological to physical and how both can affect someone. Both Izzie and Logan are dealing with PSTD and learning how to handle it. Watching how the different events affect them and how they work through the issues was handled well. No quick fixes. Also the way we see how Shadow works as a support dog is good as it helps explains what he does to calm Logan.
If you enjoy Love Inspired Suspense this book won't disappoint you.
There is something engaging about this novel that grabs you from the beginning. The mystery of a missing girl and her twin being back in town will almost always pique my curiosity.
I lost my emotional support dog three years ago this January, and I know reading this novel was not an accident. I’ve been afraid to let myself even consider the possibility of getting another dog because the pain of losing her was so severe that I’ve been scared to even consider putting myself in that position again. After reading Deadly Rodeo Threat and seeing just how much Shadow helped Logan throughout the story, I was reminded just how vital animals are in our lives. Sure, they don’t last forever, but the incredible work they do while they’re here is immeasurable.
While Logan and Isabelle are sweet characters that did have their share of problems, they felt stiff and a little too perfect. Where are the flaws? The love story is sweet, but I felt like this focused so heavily on the relationship and not so much on the suspense, which was disappointing as I was in more of a suspenseful mood.
While engaging and entertaining, there was nothing really special that made this novel stand out. Still, it has me thinking about the importance of pets, and for that, I am grateful as I am now prayerfully considering my next support animal.
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Deadly Rodeo Threat Stone Creek Ranch #2 By Sami A. Abrams
Her best friend went missing but there is no evidence that she didn't leave voluntarily. When a report of a found body leads Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair to an isolated location, she finds more than she expected.
Logan Russell has returned home to help find his missing twin sister. His arrival is just in time to save Izzie from an assailant who seems intent on seeing her dead.
Is the attack on Izzie related to her search for Lisa? Or is it something more sinister? Soon they are finding information that points to more than one missing woman. Logan and Izzie are soon caught in a race against time and a potential serial killer to find Lisa.
This is an intense what's going to happen next read. Both Logan and Izzie have past issues that find them dealing with these as they work together to find Lisa. I totally LOVED Shadow, Logan's service dog - a goofball until he needed to work. Dogs make stories better, in my opinion. But the ending is just "whoa!" and not because there are horses in the book. The villain is truly creepy in his actions, just saying.
This is a book of second chances and new beginnings. They just need to stop a killer first. This book, being a Love Inspired Suspense offering, is non-graphic in its descriptions, so nightmare material to keep you up all night.
I was provided with a complimentary copy with no expectations. All thoughts expressed are my own.
The diva of suspense has done it again. Sami Abrams knows how to bring together mystery, suspense and God's message in an exciting way that kidnaps your interest in every page.
When Sheriff Izzie stumbles into a horrific scene is Navy Seal Logan that comes to help. With his sweet support doggie Shadow.
Sheriff Izzie has so much hurt in her past from her father and her ex boyfriend. Navy Seal Logan as too hurt past. Dealing with PTSD and a memory of the girl he has loved seen high school turning him down.
But together they join to find Logan's twin sister that has been missing for 2 months. But as the days go, some other victims start showing up making them know they are up against someone evil. Truly evil.
With every second and every movement they make things going wrong and so.eone out to silence Izzie. Can Logan and Izzie find his twin. And can they put together details and evidence to stop the evil that seems to have no.ending. And with Shadow by their side, can two hearts see a future together as they put their pain and past aside?
This is an amazing story. One for the suspense mystery thriller of a reader.
I received a ARC from the author publisher. All stated here are my own. I was not required a positive comment.
Logan Sinclair is a Navy SEAL on a mission in his hometown. His twin sister Lisa is missing and he is determined to find her, even if it means working with Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair, the woman who rejected him in high school. Together, these two make a formidable team and weave a complex story of multiple women missing who were all barrel racers in the rodeo. The suspects are plentiful as are the twists, and the plot is riveting, moving quickly from one dangerous situation to another. I like how Izzie and Logan interact with each other, both professionally and personally. And I particularly enjoyed the teasing from her brother Daniel, a man completely on her side and always quick to bring humor to a tough problem. The characters were believable and I got quickly immersed in their story. I loved the way the plot unraveled clues slowly and methodically and gave me a chance to guess at who the bad guy was. This is a well-crafted and original tale of second chance love and a killer who needs to be caught before he kills again. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you, Ms. Abrams for allowing me to be a part of this launch team. I really enjoyed this story. Lisa Russell has been missing for 2 months. She just disappeared. Her best friend is the Sheriff of Rollins,TX, their hometown. Sheriff Isobel "Izzie" Sinclair has decided to add her friend to the investigation of Barrel Racers who have disappeared from the rodeos in the area and connected towns. Logan Russell, Lisa's twin, was a part of the Navy's Elite Operators until an accident that landed him on terminal leave. He decided it was a good time to go home and see why Lisa had not been in touch for 2 months. She knew when he was on a mission that he would not be able to communicate so she would leave voicemails that he would get when the mission was over. And she would go see him when he was stateside. Logan knew he had to go but that meant seeing the woman who broke his heart many years ago, and he did not even know why. Izzie, Logan & Daniel, Izzie's brother & a cop worked together to find who was behind the abductions and to bring Lisa home. And while they worked together Logan & Izzie realized that God's timing is always best.
This is the second in a series centered arond Stone Creek Ranch and the rodeo. You have Izzie Sinclair, who is the sheriff and has been looking into the disappearance of her best friend, Lisa and is coming up empty-handed. Then she gets a call about a dead body and as she is investigating, she gets attacked. Thankfully Lisa's twin brother, Logan has come to town and happens to see the attack. From there on out you have non-stop action and you will be kept on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next and who is kidnapping these women. What I enjoyed about this book is how the author incorporated PTSD in the storyline and how it affects differently from one person and their circumstances to another. And who can resist a black Labrador named Shadow, who is a service dog and seems to have other special qualities that stands out? There was certain passages that touched me deeply. One was this, "It wasn't until I allowed myself grace that I started living again." I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are what I thought of the book.
Deadly Rodeo Threat, Book Two of the Stone Creek Ranch miniseries by Sami A. Abrams, is an engaging, quick read full of action, mystery, and faith. Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy the non-stop action, memorable characters, and small-town charm.
The novel follows Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair and Navy SEAL Logan Russell as they team up to discover the whereabouts of Logan’s twin sister, Lisa Russell, who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances—and in a manner suspiciously similar to a number of other missing barrel racers.
The major theme of Deadly Rodeo Threat can be summed up in the following question: What determines our worth—what others think or who God says we are? Both Izzie and Logan wrestle with this question, as well as how God can use hard and painful things for His purpose and plan.
Overall, despite its predictability, I enjoyed Deadly Rodeo Threat and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense that is uplifting and light on intensity.
FTC Disclaimer: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author. All views expressed are solely my honest opinion.
Navy SEAL Logan Russell heads back to his hometown to check on his twin sister, Lisa, who hasn't been responding to his texts lately. His investigation leads him to Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair, his sister's best friend who is also looking into Lisa's disappearance. Turns out there is a string of missing barrel racers, Logan and Izzie join forces to get to the bottom of who is targeting the girls.
A fast paced suspense, with high stakes, engaging storyline, and likable leading characters. Logan has a K-9, Shadow, and is unsure where his career will lead after getting injured. He and Izzie make a great team, working together, with a shared determination to bring the killer to justice. I liked how Izzie also bonded with Shadow, as well. There is a lot of good interaction, and strong themes of faith.
Overall, a high suspense read, with a lot going on, and a well built backstory. I liked the Texas rodeo setting, high stakes, and characters that I could cheer for throughout.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Deadly Rodeo Threat is a gripping addition to the exciting Texas based Stone Creek Ranch series! As Sheriff Izzie Sinclair and Navy SEAL Logan Russell reunite to investigate the disappearance of Logan's sister Lisa, emotions run high, and danger waits at every turn. The fast-paced action engaged my attention from the opening chapter, and I couldn't put the book down after that! The cleverly plotted storyline, with well-placed twists and a perfect balance of suspense and romance, kept me guessing who the villain was. I was impressed by the way the author integrated the psychiatric service dog Shadow into the story and her thoughtful handling of PSTD. I appreciate the gentle but meaningful faith thread that is woven naturally through the story. If you are looking for a satisfying read with high-stakes suspense, tender romance, and inspiring faith, this one has my highest recommendation. I read an early copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sheriff Isabelle Sinclair (Izzie) thinks daily about the mysterious disappearance of her friend, Lisa.
The first chapter finds Izzie fighting for her life with a masked man when she is rescued by Navy SEAL Logan Russell, who just so happens to be Lisa's twin brother. Together they are determined to find out what happened to Lisa, once and for all, hopefully with a happy ending.
This adrenaline-laced, twisty mystery was phenomenal. The author throws out clues all throughout the story, but be careful what you assume because everything is more complex than it first appears.
Hope, faith and a lot of prayer bind this story and its characters together as they search for an unseen foe by using their minds and prayer to power them through.
This bucking bronco ride will leave you breathless, awestruck and satisfied.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hoping the body discovered is not her best friend, Lisa, Sheriff Izzie Sinclair heads for the woods. Lisa has been missing for 2 months with no leads as to her disappearance. Assaulted by a man in a mask, she only gets away when Logan, Lisa’s twin brother interrupts the attack. The body is not her friend, but who is it?
This is only the beginning of the danger that confronts Izzie in her search for clues. More attacks, a bomb and even a smoke bomb are just a few of the hindrances in this hunt. Somehow the attacker always knows where she is going. As more murders are uncovered, they try not to become discouraged in their search. Surely Lisa is still alive out there somewhere! Can she put her fear of failure in God’s hands and continue on?
This copy of Stone Creek Ranch, 2 was received through Love Inspired Suspense and BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
