Since we left the small bucolic town of Wayward Pines at the end of Blake Crouch's initial novel - Pines, much has changed. In this three volume novel by acclaimed novelist Bryan Higby of the Logos Books has expanded the world of Wayward Pines into dark corners of reality rarely seen in fiction before.
David Pilcher mentions in Pines that there is a resistance building against the law and order that he created in this last refuge of Earth.
In Book One - The American Dream, Ethan Burke, now the sheriff of Wayward Pines begins his investigation into Pilcher's conspiracy theories. Burke finds credence to Pilcher's fears. There is a small band of rebels who are amassing led by a mysterious man known from afar only as The Warden. Ethan learns that you can't trust even your next door neighbors. There is also another difficult decision for the new sheriff. He must choose this years fete victims.
In Book Two - An American Nightmare, Ethan Burke follows the rebel trail to startling understanding that Wayward Pines is not the last refuge on Earth. The Warden offers an alternative to the confines of Wayward Pines. Ethan must choose whether to remain a prisoner of the blue mountain town or risk his family and himself with the Warden's New Atlantis. Ethan is also reunited with the former Wayward Pines sheriff Arnold Pope in a shocking conclusion that you will never see coming.
In Book Three - Torch Song, Ethan Burke and his family have arrived in New Atlantis only to be put to one final test. Beyond the walls of reality exist thin spots in time and space. Within these thin spots mankind will be tested beyond all realms of sanity. A dark adversary to the Warden has arisen after a thousand years. They mean to wreak havoc across the remaining human race. A small band of fighters must journal to the far reaches of reality to spot the evil spreading in our world.

Horrible!!!
This book ruined the whole Wayward Pines series! The story line went so far off track!! So confusing! Leaves so many loose ends! Bryan Higby did you just have another idea of a book you wanted to write and got lazy and combined your ideas into this story? I couldn't wait to finish it!!! I was hoping to learn where you were going with the story Iine so I kept reading. Total waste of my time. I should h ave deleted it from my kids kindle immediately!!
