ARGH! Okay, I don't care if you are going to be gone a night or 6 months. YOU TELL SOMEONE YOU ARE LEAVING!!!!! If Dante didn't have Danny's number, shoot Logan a quick text/phone call--"Hey, got business, but'll be back. Keep an eye on Danny for me...he's mine!" Something like that. Not that hard.

So yeah, you probably figured out Dante left for 6 months and never told anyone. When he shows back up, his friends tell him to leave he's not wanted there. Dante has no idea what's going on. But, he quickly learns that Danny was attacked one night during a scene.

Danny, hmmm...what can I say about him? Well, I think he's too forgiving. I would have demanded to know what was going on and why Dante was gone for so long.

I did like this one better than the first, but there were some things that still bothered me. What exactly was Dante's business is the first thing. Also,

I liked that Danny had a hard time with the safe word trust again. I liked that he used it. Question is, will he ever be able to fully trust another man again?

I want to know more about Jack :)

From the moment that Daniel was introduced to him, Dante knew the younger man would be the perfect sub for him. Daniel's got a bit of a smart mouth to him which Dante finds very appealing. However, before Dante can formally claim Daniel he's called out of town on business. What he first thought would be a couple of weeks turns into six months before he can come home. When he gets back he's eager to see Daniel but horrified when he learns that Daniel was abused and badly injured by another Dom.

Daniel is no longer the same wonderfully trusting and fun loving man. Traumatized by what happened to him he can't get over the memories of that horrible night and is sure that trusting someone again will only lead to another betrayal and more pain. With a lot of patience Dante works to show Daniel that what happened to him wasn't his fault and that he can place his trust in someone without being betrayed. Along the way they have to contend with a kidnapping and the return of the man who almost killed him but to his surprise Daniel is able to hold his own when faced with danger to himself and Dante.

I enjoyed this sequel to Call Me Sir. I liked Dante and Daniel and felt Dante was written well as a Dom working to slowly earn his sub's trust again. The one thing I didn't like about him was the explanation of his absence. I still don't buy that six months went by and he was unable to contact Daniel at all. It worked for the storyline but left me wondering in this day and age how he wasn't even able to manage one call, email, text or fax even.

Logan and Joey from the previous book are secondary characters here and I felt they were good additions to this story. Their friendship with Dante and Daniel was nice to read and their scenes together worked well. A new character in this book is police officer Jack McLarren. Jack responds when Dante is injured but he unknowingly gives a kidnapper access to Daniel. However he makes up for it by helping to find him and later on also helps out when Dante and Daniel are once again threatened. If there is another book after this one it will probably feature Jack who showed a lot of interest in the lifestyle but never actually said if he was gay although it does appear that he may be.

The scenes between Dante and Daniel are sweet and the BDSM is very toned down as the focus of the story is on Daniel's need to heal not only physically but emotionally as well. That works well considering what Daniel is recovering from. Once again the author has written a story featuring her usual Alpha man/Dom paired with a smaller man/sub but in this case while at first the sub is weak he finds hidden strength throughout the story, surprising and helping both himself and his Dom. I also liked the slower pace of their developing relationship which made the few sex scenes work really well within the storyline. Overall this was a nicely written sequel which I enjoyed.

This second book in the ‘Sir’ series is Danny’s story, and it is entirely different in tone than the first. I expected it to be a little deeper, since Joey’s best friend used to joke with him about the fact he likes his scenes a “little more intense” than Joey’s somewhat lighthearted approach to what is really more D/s than BDSM. In fact, this second book is quite dark as it deals with some of the issues that occur when BDSM play doesn't happen in a safe and consensual way.

Danny has gone through hell. After one encounter with Dante he hoped for more, only to never hear from the man again. After months of waiting he agrees to a scene at Dante’s club and things go horribly wrong. The focus isn't the physical side of the abuse Danny suffers, but it does get mentioned. What Danny struggles with are the emotional and mental issues as he tries to learn how to trust again. When Dante suddenly reappears, Danny needs to deal with the fact he feels abandoned, but, more importantly, he has to figure ot how to relate to Dante. He still likes the man a lot, but he just doesn’t know if he can ever do anything even looking like a scene, like giving up control ever again.

Dante is a very patient Dom who is in love with Daniel, and yes, he calls him by his full name at all times, that is how formal and proper he is. He also realizes he made some major mistakes (and he keeps making them, the dummy), but he is willing and able to talk, to learn, and to change what he does based on Danny’s feedback. He also has some interesting ideas for “exercises” that will help Danny regain trust. Dante is determined to make their relationship work, no matter what, and if there is anyone who can resist a determined Dom, it isn’t Danny.

If you like patient Doms ready to deal with anything an abused sub can throw at them, if you don’t mind your D/s to be a little more intense than the odd butt plug, and if you’re looking for an emotionally intense read with lots of hot interludes and some sweet loving, then you will probably like this novella.

I felt hugely let down by this book, given the glowing reviews others have posted. The story was a cookie-cutter outline with no internal consistency; everything happens by rote and seems unbelieveable. The lack of relationship between any of the characters makes it hard for me to understand why others have liked this so much. It is nothing like as good as the Deviations series and even the Hammer series has more character development. I would recommend giving it a miss.

EDIT: 1/1/12 I just read book one, and now I feel even more annoyed. The premise of this book is that Dante had one night with Daniel and then took off. However the very end of book one is set a month after that night, and Logan and Joety are going to Dante's club and will see them both there.

Also, while I'm niggling, Dante is a dickhead. Who takes off for six months without a word (no time for a single phone call to Logan or a single employee? Wouldn't you have at least told your bar manager you were leaving?) after spending a night with a guy, and then is suprised people thought he was treating it like a one-night stand?

Meh kinky m/m romance about a Dom and sub who met in the first book. Since then, the Dom's been gone on mysterious business and the sub's been seriously traumatized and injured by an evil Dom. Will the good Dom be able to get the sub to trust again? My favorite line in the whole book (and I'm reproducing it exactly!): "That strange twinkled shinned in Dante's eyes again."

Dante is a lousy DOM! He may not have claimed him yet but his protection and welfare should be topmost in his mind. so The entire six months he did not check on Daniel at all? Worthless!

Entretenido.

Reread this one. Again, I don't remember it being this annoying the first time around. Maybe that was when I was on Vicodin? *ponders*

Actually, this one wouldn't have been so bad but the whole premise is based off the idea that Dante is gone for six months with no way to get in touch with anyone. That particular point lost this book a star. He is supposedly this great Dom, why would he think it is okay to have sex, talk about starting a relationship and then totally disappear, even if it is only supposed to be for a few days. Things go wrong. He should know that, and really, you are going out of the country and don't say anything. No, just no. It was stupid and contrived. Better if he had left a phone message or note or something and it had gotten lost or destroyed, I could have worked with that. I would have still been peeved because there are certain things you need to actually speak to people about, not just send/post a message somewhere and hope they get it. (Like when you start an archery club and get your friend/fellow teacher to help, then you never show up for any of the fundraisers, leaving it to your fellow teacher - my husband - and then you say will be there to help and at 4 in the morning you POST A STATUS UPDATE on FACEBOOK that you can't come after all because the weather might be bad. You don't send a message to the person, you don't call, you just update your status and hope? assume? that the right person reads it...but I am not bitter...much. Er, yeah, the point being, some things you really need to tell the other person yourself, at the very least over the phone, if not face to face.

This story is a companion story to Call Me Sir starring Dante and Daniel.

At the beginning of the story, Dante returns after having been gone for six months and finds Daniel shattered after an attack by an out-of-control Dom who seriously injures him - both physically and emotionally. The rest of the story is about Daniel healing from his attack and learning to trust again. There is not a lot of graphic violence on these pages as the books is really about the aftermath of the attack rather than the attack itself.

Logan and Joey from Call Me Sir figure fairly prominently in this story also. A new character is introduced as well in a police officer named Jack who helps Dante catch the man responsible for Danny's attack. It's a fairly short quick read with a nice ending.

If you're looking for a nice quick short BDSM story, you will like this one.

The BSDM was very light and mild in this story, but taking into consideration the circumstances surrounding David's attack and the severity of the traumatic abuse both mental and physical it was warranted to play down the scenes.

There was one book I read awhile back somewhat similar to this, but the difference was Dante is exactly the persona of the Dom that dealt with Dan's ordeal with kid gloves by being caring and no pressure on returning Daniel to the sub Dante fell in love with. This is what you'd expect in this type of story.

Not too much, not too little. Just the right added touch made this story not perfect, but worth reading.

Wow. If I thought the first book was silly, this was even more so.

The whole intrigue plotline was ridiculous. But the romance was entertaining. I gave this book an extra star for demonstrating the use of red, yellow and green in the BDSM lifestyle.

I get why some people will state "No Stormy Glenn" for those pick-for-me type challenges. This is definitely one of those "not for everyone" type books. While I enjoyed this story, it is pretty trashy. But there's a sweetness to the main characters that appeal to me nonetheless.

2 and 1/2 Stars. I don’t know why I bought this book. I thought the first one was silly. This book just didn’t work for me at all. I couldn’t believe that Dante would disappear for six months without telling anyone he was leaving and then expecting a warm reception when he returned. Also the whole story with the stalker just didn’t work for me. I gravitate towards any book that is labeled BDSM. I just need to remember to check my past reviews to see if I enjoy an author’s work. Stormy Glenn is a good writer, her stories just aren’t for me.

It was way better than the first one. Probably because of the deeper plot and more angsty situation in general.

Things were resolved a bit too easily again, but it was a minor glitch in the otherwise good story.

Ahhh, I just loved Dom-Sub relationship.

Okay, my dream comes true. The next installment of Call Me Sir by Stormy Glenn is all about Dante and Daniel “Danny”. Frankly, it has already clear when I finished Call Me Sir #1 that the next episode will be filled by these two lovers. But, I still have a lot of curiosity about what will Stormy do to make the story stay beautiful.

You have no idea how much I wanted Daniel from the moment I met him.

Dante said that to describe how much his love for Danny. He had no idea what Danny passed through when he left Danny without notice. Yes, Dante has some secret obligations to do outside the country and leave Danny without claiming him first as his Submissive. Desperately, Danny agree to make a scene which bring him into a traumatic condition.

You need to decide what’s more important, your relationship with Danny or whatever it is that you go do. You can’t have both.

Logan (and Joey) as Dante’s closest friend remind him to choose what’s the best for him, and also for Danny. The problem is, for me, I don’t have any clue about what Dante’s secret obligation is. Is he a secret agent? FBI or something? Or what? It made me confuse. First, the are no other details about Dante’s side life so I hardly imagine who he is and then I assume that he’s not real. Second, I really hope that Dante’s life detail can make me understand about Dante’s life as Club owner and his ability to defense himself (he got knocked up in the end of the story, ups, SPOILER! sorry). I mean, if he is a secret agent or something, he must have those abilities to fight/defense, right? So, I really need an explanation about Dante’s life.

Still, the story is about Dominant-Submissive kind of relationship. So, I can add my lesson from the Book #1. I learned that on relationship like that, the couple must have an agreement about how to live their relationship, including by stating the safe word.

A safe word is a word someone can use to stop everything, no matter how far into a scene or situation you are. Once that word is spoken, everything stops and there can be no repercussions on the person saying the safe word.

Oh, okay. I totally agree. Though, this kind of relationship is involving violence, they have boundary to keep them in happy relationship. One way to show that boundary is by saying “safe-word”. Cute.

Another thing is that in this type of relationship “claiming” the Sub by the Dom is important. It’s an animal instinct, I guess. Once you claim your Sub, then nobody can’t touch him. As simple as that. But, you have to show it to the others so they can keep the distance from both of you.

Overall, it’s different from Book #1 though both of them deliver the similar theme. Honestly, I like Book #1 better than Book #2. Plus, Book #1 is hotter than Book #2. Hahaha. I still easily got hard when I imagining Joey gets plowed by Logan in front of Dante at Dante’s office! Superb. HOT as HELL.

3 out of 5 stars for this book.

Anyway, I still looking forward to the next installment of this series. I hope Jack McClaren will be the main cast on Book #3, so my dream will come true, hoorraaay. A Gay Cop! Woohoo. It’s much better if the officer is the Sub a.k.a. the Bottom one. MY WISH!

Not as over-the-top as Call Me Sir

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 7/10

PROS:
- Daniel’s suffering from some serious psychological (as well as physical) damage, and the depth of his pain and bitterness after the attack are well depicted. I ached for him. Yet at the same time, he doesn’t allow himself to remain a completely helpless victim. He’s a tenacious guy who fights for himself, and I liked that about him.
- Dante is wonderfully sweet and gentle with his damaged sub, and I liked also that he’s not a “perfect” Dom. That is, he makes mistakes in judgment and owns up to them, whereas a lot of fictional Doms seem pretty infallible.
- This story isn’t as melodramatic as Call Me Sir, but the characters here are still just adorably clueless at times and seem incapable of making educated guesses based on their current situation. “Why would Joey’s father being here cause Joey to practically tremble in Logan’s arms?” Dante wonders. (Um…maybe because their history is a bit rocky?) Still, I found the confusion mostly endearing rather than annoying.
- The first scene in the book shows Dante and Daniel meeting for the first time, and it’s a retelling of the last scene in Call Me Sir. It’s interesting to see that same conversation told from Dante’s point of view.

CONS:
- The similarities between this story and Sean Michael’s Between Friends (written 3 years earlier, according to the copyright dates) are so numerous that after a while I found it difficult to see them as mere coincidence. Two couples, all best friends, one of which is into semi-hard BDSM. Uber-protective friends. Sub who’s been damaged, both emotionally and physically. Dom who speaks formally, and who calls his sub by his full name when everyone else uses a nickname, and who doesn’t like curse words. I’m not accusing Glenn of plagiarism or anything, but the similarities felt lazy somehow to me. Even the first BDSM scenes between Sammy and Peter and between Dante and Daniel are strikingly similar.
- Glenn teases us with the idea of a particular sexual development in the men’s relationship--as in, the characters talk about it, agree to it, plan on it, etc.--and then we never get to see it. That disappointed me.
- Both the main characters’ names begin with D-A-N. This makes the story practically impossible to read quickly, not to mention the fact that Glenn confuses the two more than once because they’re so similar.

Overall comments: I liked both this novella and its predecessor, but this one’s much less melodramatic. Both stories contain hardcore hurt/comfort storylines, and this one takes several unexpected turns that half puzzled me and half intrigued me. I’ll put it this way: there’s much more of an action plot to this story than I thought there’d be. What there ISN’T a lot of is sex, which sort of surprised me--but then, Daniel is so skittish after the attack that realistically he wouldn’t WANT to have sex right away, so mostly I was impressed with Glenn’s restraint in that area.

Review
I loved Call Me Sir, Too by Stormy Glenn. This story can be read as a stand alone, but I think you will better appreciate the changes to Daniel having read Call Me Sir. It was painful to see the sassy Daniel a character who was full of laughter and fun become a shadow of himself. I chuckled at his antics and enjoyed his relationship with Joey but I cried when I saw how his trust and submission was crushed. Ms. Glenn did a wonderful job of articulating Daniel’s pain and fear. And when Dante learned of the pain his inaction caused, I loved his determination to rebuild the lost trust. I loved his willingness to give up a large portion of who he was for the man he loves. I loved his acceptance of the mistakes made coupled with a desire to fix them. Ms. Glenn gave us a man who personified what it meant to be a dominant, at least in my mind. I loved the care he gave Daniel and the will to survive and thrive he nurtured until Daniel was ready to face his past. I am a fan of Ms. Glenn and with the second in her Sir Series, I am reminded just why I love her stories.

Stormy Glenn likes to play with her spoiled brat and Daniel is another good example of this type of character. Call Me Sir Too is of course the sequel of Call Me Sir and actually it starts in a similar way: an accomplished Dom falls for a fresh and “innocent” sub and decides he will be “his” sub; but for a reason or the other, the moment when he’s claiming the boy is always delayed and a dramatic event will make it even difficult to happen. What probably I liked most of this sequel is that Daniel, for how much naïve and small, little sputtering brat is, he is the one who is deciding for his life; in any dangerous situation, or apparently dangerous, he is protecting himself, without the help of his big bad Dom.

For sure the novel is naïve, there are some point that I found difficult to believe, like when a fake police officer not only steals a police squad car, but his mistaken for one even by his supposed colleagues: now or he is really good, and from the story he is not, or the other police officers are not so clever, and again, from the story it’s not. Moreover, even if I really loved that Daniel was able to look out for himself, sometime he came out from some dangerous situation a little too easily.

But sincerely, I don’t think the author wanted to write a thriller story, I think she was more interested in making this a little emotional and a lot romantic and funny story: Dante is clearly in love with his little Daniel, so much that he is not even able to see that Daniel is not so helpless as everyone thinks. By the way, I think that neither Daniel is aware of his strength, above all since he likes to be helpless, he likes to be protected and cherished by big bad Dante. Sometime the little brats are aware of their power and they use it to top from the bottom their Dom; but I don’t think this is the case for Daniel: he is not intentionally walking around Dante, to bring him where he wants, but in the end, he is doing exactly that, and being him unaware of his own actions, makes the character even more cute.

This is a continuation if you will of the first story. Dante is the owner of the BDSM club and Daniel is Joey’s ex-roommate. So Joey sets them up and things seem to be going well when Dante leaves town for two weeks and doesn’t come back for 6 months. (He’s some sort of spy or something, most of us think this is pretty unrealistic, even spies have cell phones, but whatever). When he gets back it turns out that Daniel was badly abused by a Dom (130 stitches but no mention of scars) and now has no faith in the lifestyle. Dante is determined to help him heal and takes him home (how did he get him there without him knowing, he was sleeping not drugged) and proceeds to teach him to trust while toning down the D/s stuff. Daniel and Dante were into more hardcore stuff than Joey and Logan but now it’s confined to some spanking and being stern. Of course the Dom who injured Joey is still out to get him. Okay, despite all my parenthetical comments, I really liked this story. Yes, there are plot holes the size of Texas and some editing errors, but on the whole I really felt for what Daniel went through, not only his fear after the attack but being pissed off that Dante took off and left him without a word. The policeman Jack who helped them get the attacker has a pretty big role in this one so I’m assuming there will be another book with him. Although he doesn’t seem to be into the BDSM stuff so not sure where that will go. But I’m seeing another book in his future.

I liked this one better than the first one, Call Me Sir. Once again, it's not realistic, but it IS fun. There is a lot more drama and angst in this one. Danny's pain is palpable, as is Dante's regret.

The BDSM is still pretty light - just spankings and assertiveness.

I was pleased to read at the end that Danny and Dante are going to counseling. BDSM is not therapy, though I think it can be therapeutic based on other books I've read. It is always nice to see professional counseling acknowledged as a necessity.

For those who enjoyed the first book, we do see a bit of Joey and Logan.

The only other secondary character who got a lot of page time was Jack the police officer. Jack's "police work" was terrible. The man carries a gun in an ankle holster while on duty. Again, just go into this one knowing nothing about it is going to be realistic and you should be fine. Try to suspend your disbelief!

I read the other books in the series, but didn't enjoy them as much the first time, so I am going to stop my series re-read at this one. End on a high note!

The second book on the Sir series begins where the other left of. It can be read independently but it’s more interesting if they are read in order.
Dante has found the man of his dreams: Daniel, a gorgeous submissive who had him at his first curse word. The man needs disciplining and Dante is just the man to do it. After their first night together Dante has to go away on business but when he returns nothing is like it used to be. Daniel as has been beaten and abused by an out of control Dom and in addition to his physical and mental scars has lost all trust in people, especially Dom’s, including Dante. To keep Daniel safe Dante moves Daniel into his secure apartment and starts to work on rebuilding the trust he’s lost during his absence. But as their relationship develops, the out of control Dom is still out there and he’s not willing to give up Daniel.
While this book is just as good as the first one it was hard to read at times. Even though there is not too much details on the assault Daniel suffered my imagination was vivid enough to fill in the blanks, and it was bad. But how Daniel and Daniel move on from this nightmare, how they rebuild their trust and take back their life together, was well written and captivating to follow.

2014 Re-read:

Okay, let me just say that none of the police-related side of things in this makes any bit of sense. I mean it. Zero sense. Nada. Nuthin’. It’s actually mind-boggling. I recommend not even wasting a single thought on it.

It’s much more fun to instead focus on things like the fact that Daniel apparently goes to the hospital and through everything afterwards in green silk pyjamas and a robe without anyone so much as raising an eyebrow over it.
And does Dante really go through in his open-backed hospital gown? I did not pay attention there to be certain.

Then there’s the whole aftermath of sexual assault thing, also fairly sketchy.
However – and this is a big deal – somehow the feels really work here, which saves this book from being bad. I’ll just go with “somewhat nonsensical”. Definitely benign, though. I guess in the end that matters more to me than the details.

typical stormy glenn romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical stormy glenn? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

laziness dictates i will use this as my template for all books by the following authors unless a book is remarkably good/bad :
stormy glenn
lynn hagen
scarlet hyacinth
joyee flynn
carol lynne
gabrielle evans

I did not like this as much as the previous book, though I did enjoy it. Some parts were vague and a little unbelievable (the cop impersonator and Dante's absence without a word), but I enjoyed seeing Daniel recover from his horrible experience and the eventual rebuilding of his trust in Dante.
