My name is Alix and I am addicted to sex. Had been for years. I thought I learned how to live a normal life, but that’s the thing about addiction, it creeps back up when you least expect it. There is no one there for me, no one I can turn to for help. Until I’m given a chance to explore a side of myself I’d always kept locked away. I was lost…until him. I can’t tell you who he is, or why he does the things he’s done. All I can say is I hope one day I behave well enough to take off the blindfold and see the man who controls my addiction. My Master.
My name is John and I am addicted to control. I tried to deny the dominate side of my personality. I didn’t want to admit how much I enjoyed the power, how much I enjoyed causing pain. That is until the woman I’d been secretly been stalking waltzed into a BDSM club right in front of me. All bets are off. She will be mine.
Together our addictions feed off each other, fueling the fire that burns within. Until suddenly the fire is too hot to handle, burning everything in its path. The pain and scars we’d both come into our fragile relationship with are split wide open, exposing more than either of us can handle, possibly leaving nothing behind to salvage from the ashes.

AND Her Ride – a full length novel (MF) – A former female Marine, Ryan, is getting out of the service. While trying to find herself again, she lands at her older brother’s house, which also happens to be where her childhood crush and the motorcycle club her brother runs hangs out.
This is the first book I've read by this author but it certainly won't be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed this hot and spicy read.
This is Alixs story. Alix is a sex addict. When an opportunity is proposed to her she goes for it. Then she meets Master J and her life changes.
I thought the storyline was great and the characters were well formed. Be warned there are plenty of sex scenes and bdsm in this story. Although this book doesn't end in a kindle throwing cliffhanger it is 'to be continued'. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for more of Alixs story.
This was the first book I read by this author and I was very pleasantly surprised! I did not know anything about this book going in and read this sexy and erotic story in one sitting. Alix has a sex addition that has interfered with her personal and professional life. She knows she has a compulsion and she just cannot help herself. She has tried recovery and twelve-step programs to no avail. When she sees a handsome and sexy stranger at her hotel night after night, she knows she is heading down a dangerous path again.
But John notices her, too, and because of his profession, he is almost 100% sure that she has an addiction. He then begins a secret (well, on his part – she does not know who he is) relationship with her within the confines of a friend’s BDSM club.
Addict is a highly erotic, very sexy and explicit story that actually has a lot of heart and soul and can be read in one sitting. John and Alix are incredible together and their scenes are highly charged. John is one sexy Dominant!! If you are not uncomfortable in reading about Alix’s uncontrollable sexual urges, then by all means grab this erotic story and enjoy!!

This is the first book I've read by Rachael Orman, and I was pleasantly surprised! I really liked the blurb and couldn't wait to see how this was executed. We meet Alix, a self-professed Sex-Addict, while she's at work (at an upscale hotel). She's seated at her desk, in her office, and watching an extremely sexy guest who's walking to his room. She's not only watching him, but "massaging" herself - and notices he's watching her! I just want to say that this scene right here TOTALLY sold me on this story. It's sexy, it's scintillating, and completely intriguing. Upon Alix visiting a BDSM club, she's discovered by a secret Dominant and finds that she's excited by being "mastered". Not knowing who this man is leads to exhilarating scenes of submission, learning to trust, learning about herself and her true needs, and ultimately falling in love.
Overall, this story was exciting and sexy. I liked Alix, and found myself lusting for the Dom :) and I just couldn't put the book down. I did have some issues with the secrecy, but overall this was an entertaining read!
I need to start off by saying that the cover of the book is HOT. Seriously, that is what drew me to it. The author had sent a review request to the Platypire page and then informed us that it was free on Amazon. SWEET! I immediately downloaded it.
I literally couldn't get enough and really enjoyed this book. The book was hot, sexy and steamy. A really good page turner. I thought the writing style was really good too. My only complaint is that I thought there was a tad too many coincidence between John & Alix. He lived in the same hotel as her job. They were at the same sex club and then John was Alix online counselor. I think the counselor bit was too much but it didn't take away from the story. I get it. The characters have to interact. I still really enjoyed the whole story. I can't wait to read the sequel.
I would highly recommend this book for those who like erotic romance with a little kink.
This book was gifted & received in exchange for an honest review.
Yes Ma'am, We are off to a pretty good start. I loved Master!!! Master J will definitely make you need to change them panties. This book is part of a series and is to be continued in Fiend. Now if you are not a cliffy fan, this book ends in a way that leaves more to come but not in a "to die for" way. I love the chemistry between Precious & Master. I have feeling things are not going to go as easily for them in the next book. Addict is a short and easy read but with a buildup that has characters well rounded but not giving away too many details, which I really like. It has me definitely intrigued and I may be getting "Addicted" to this series.
Addict by Rachael Orman was Amazing! Sensually Whipped Cream Twisted with Delectable Strawberries were the perfect accompaniment whilst reading this sex addict inspired BDSM Romance Novel..... The level of detail inspired a full motion picture that I was able to imagine from the words written on each page, making the story of Alix and John one of epic and more than noteworthy proportions. Hooked from the first few pages you are lured into the plot and tempted by the mysterious and impeccably hot stranger that Alix sees every day in her job within the hotel that she works at. This man is the center of her sexual desires but also her sexual nightmare.......Alix is a sex addict who up until now has managed to place her temptations on hold, that is until she sees him, the man with no name, the man who suddenly ignites a burning flame within her that no amount of pleasuring herself can extinguish or even contain......
After self destructing her life giving into her sexual addiction issues, Alix has manged to find a new job and jump start her life again after intense rehab. She no longer goes out and makes sure she keeps busy in her job and at home in order to keep a lid on her problem. Up until recently she has managed to stay "clean" for quite sometime but it all went to hell the moment she laid eyes on the man who would come to haunt her. She indulges herself the few minuets it takes for him to enter the hotel, talk to the front desk and then walk to the elevators. She then waits a short time until he comes back down and leaves. She thinks by not talking to him, not finding out who he is she is keeping a leash on her issues but she is in deeper than she will admit to. Seeing him on evening she finds herself pleasuring herself watching him, only just as she is about to come he looks straight at her, locked in each other's gazes she succumbs to the pleasure that washes over her. Scared he will tell her boss causing her to be fired again from another job for her indiscretions she panics, he doesn't seem to say anything but she doesn't want to take the chance and leaves early practically running.
John has been watching Alix for sometime, this game that they play is all he can allow himself, you see no one will understand him, or so he believes. You see as a job he is a sex therapist and her is also in his private life a Dom, a man who demands control, a man who he believe no woman can handle. Realising Alix is pleasuring herself looking right at him surprises him to say the least, this woman now intrigues him more than before, he needs to know her.
Alix returns to work, but the man with no name hasn't said anything......why? Trying not to over analyze it and wanting to break her pattern of watching him now she knows how dangerous he is to her resolve she goes on a night out with the girl from the front desk but little do they know the invite is to visit an exclusive sex club. Arriving there Alix realizes she is in her element and after seeing so many people having sex she cannot help but go and pleasure herself in the bathroom.
John in the meantime has received a call from a friend asking if her can help him out by looking after the club he owns given that it is by invitation only night when they look for "new blood" to join. Whilst looking at the camera's he is stunned to realize that Alix is in the club, he watches her go to the bathroom knowing full well what she is going to do. Before he can talk himself out of it he runs down the back stairs only to grab Alix from behind keeping her back to him so she cannot see his face, he propositions her, inviting her to come back to the club for a one on one session whilst seducing her in such a way he leaves her knees weak. Before she can turn around he slips away.
Alix is floored by the sexy stranger with the smooth as silk British accented voice promising her pleasure beyond her wildest dreams. Knowing she needs to try and get over the man with no name from the hotel she accepts and returns to the club. What happens next is an astounding story of submission, addiction, secrets & lies but also sexual ecstasy at heights even making the pages of the kindle burn to the touch!
A 5 Star Novel better than any BDSM novel I have read this year! To say this novel inspired some real life thoughts and feelings is an understatement, if you like your sex, hard fast and full of pure desire twisted with some serious kink then this is a novel you WANT to read!!!
I received a copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Have you ever really thought about what addiction was? It could be drugs, gambling, even shopping but you rarely think of sex as an addiction. But that is what Alix is, a sex addict. She has been through treatment before but the compulsions her body has, she just has to get release. But when she is done, the guilt and embarrassment sets in. She sees the most gorgeous man she has even seen at work and she finds herself fantasizing about him. When she goes out with a coworker, they end up at a BDSM club. While the coworker is in shock, Alix feels almost at peace, like she is home. When she comes out of the restroom, she is grabbed but not in a threatening way. The man tells he to come back tomorrow night and to tell the front desk she is there for Master J. What will she do? She shows up because she wants what he seems to be offering. Can she handle it when she finds out who Master is? Master J is John the sex therapist we met in Lost Desires. Here he will get his chance and hopefully he can hang on to it. I hate the ending because I need more NOW. This is one of those stories that had me hooked from the very first page and I can't wait for more.
~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~ This is the first book I have read by Rachael Orman but it will NOT be my last! Alix is a sex addict and has been for years, she has had it under control for several years now, until she sees John. John is a dominate and a control freak, he notices Alix and has for a while but she doesn’t know that. A chance outing to a BDSM club with a co-worker Alix finds what she needs in Master J. When John sees Alix walk into the BDSM club he knows he has to have her. This is one seriously hot book and the story is good as well. This book brought me out of my book slump and I can’t wait for the next book, I only hope my wait isn’t too long. Characters: The characters were well written and believable. Sex: yes and so flipping hot!! Religious: no Would I recommend to others: yes More than one book in the series: yes Genre: BDSM/Romance Would I read more by this author: yes ~Wicked Reads Review Team~
I started reading Addict by Rachael Orman, early in the morning, it woke me right up! What a way to start a book, very "pleasurable"! So, I knew right then I was in for one toe curling day of reading. Alix is addicted to sex, at first you think, so what! What's so wrong with a woman being addicted to sex, needing sex? I bet there isn't a man out there that would be bothered by that. This however, tends to get her in trouble, if she decides to self help her addiction at work, at her desk..... see what I'm getting at here. John is addicted to control. This kind of conflicts with his job, too. He enjoys causing pain. These two together are like gasoline and fire. This fire burns hot, what happens when a fire catches fast and burns hot? One is keeping a secret, the other could be emotionally damaged- it could destroy both of them. This book was hot, and almost all sex, but you know with a warning like that, I don't expect it to be Shakespeare. The author gave this warning for a reason: **Warning: Intended for audiences 18+ due to explicit sex & vulgar language, mention of rape/abuse** I give Addict 4 stars.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This follows on from a novella called Lost Cravings, which introduces us to the work life of the male lead here, John. It is not necessary to read it first, but it is a great little read, so I would recommend it to you.
Addict is a quick, intense and extremely hot story, which ends leaving one wanting more ... and more is promised! It is told by both the lead characters, which works well, and gives us insight into how things may develop, and certainly into some of their issues! The BDSM elements are used well, and some issues arise which I am sure will feature in later books. I am hopeful that Ms Orman is not celebrating Christmas too much and plans on getting the nest installment out very soon ...
We first meet John in a prequel novella called Lost Desires, and I was immediately intrigued by him. When Rachel told me she was writing his story, I couldn't wait.
John is a therapist. Not just any kind. He helps couple reconnect sexually. He's cool, calm and very good at his job. He's a sexy Brit who's addicted to control.
Alix is a sex addict. She is the events coordinator at a hotel, and one client that she sees weekly has her falling back into old ways.
A chance invite to a party introduces her to Master J, giving her a whole new way to explore her addiction without feeling like a deviant. The only problem is he won't let her see him.
This story is full of intrigue, chemistry and steamy sexual encounters. The unknown Master J lends to a forbidden fantasy type plot, which I found fun and different.
There IS a cliffhanger in this story, but I have no doubt that the second book will be worth the wait.
I wavered between a two and a three for this one. As much as I love dark, hardcore erotic reads this one just didn't do it for me. I think it was the sex addict and the constant masturbation the fMC felt the need for (even at work at her desk!). I found myself skipping over bits which didn't goad for a good read to me. I did like Master J though!
It's one of those love it or hate it kind of reads, I was an inbetweener! I have read other books by this author though and loved them. Give it a whirl - it might just float your erotic sex boat :)
Alix is living her life, coping with her addiction successfully, when the mysterious man comes along. Seeing that gorgeous specimen every week has her soon tumbling right back to a state of constant need. John sees her, even if she doesn´t know it, but resists the temptation. Until she comes to his domain, and now all bets are off. The Dominant in him wants her, and she´s eager to submit. Smutty fluff, BDSM and two persons giving in to addiction. Can´t wait for #2!
I have a love/hate relationship with John. Hiding his identity was wrong on so many levels however Alix would have never trusted him if she had known who he was. Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
I believe I originally got this book because it was mentioned as being free in that Dark Erotica group I’m in. So, if so, I’ll mention that up front – this is not a Dark Erotica book (at least by my understanding of the terms). Though it is an erotic book. And a book filled with BDSM. There’s bondage, a bondage club, spankings, whippings, domination, submission, a mix of sadism and masochism, some comments about ‘pain slut’, some bit of orgasm control/denial, the use of chains, the use of cuffs, and blindfolds, and a bit of forced exposure (inside a bondage club, while blindfolded and therefore uncertain how many might be there); and finally a bit of romance between two sex addicts. The kind of romance that can occur while one keeps their identity a secret (hence the use of a blindfold).
As the book description starts off (at the moment on GoodReads) “My name is Alix and I am addicted to sex.” This isn’t a pose or anything like that. She’s gone to therapy. She’s a sex addict. Not someone who thinks they might be or could be. The kind who can’t stop herself from masturbating at the drop of need. Though, after the therapy, she’s been able to fight her cravings. Until recently.
Alix works as a concierge at a hotel. While in her position she has a view of the hotel lobby. This is important because her ability to fight her cravings has collapsed under the assault of a hotel visitor, who she eventually learned is named John. John’s crime? Existing. Something about him has caused Alix to lose her control. And by lose control, I don’t mean that she day dreams about him, then in the safety of her own apartment . . . handles things. By ‘lose control, I mean that she masturbates. There. At her desk. While looking at him. That kind of lose control.
Naturally, in a situation like this the thing to do is allow your coworker, the hotel receptionist (hmm, what is that position called again? Gah), to talk you into going to an exclusive club. Alix reluctantly agrees. Whereupon it turns out that this exclusive club is a bondage club. The friend is both fascinated and horrified – some petrified like deer in headlights. Alix is some mixture of that, but mostly aroused. To the point of needing to use the restroom. To play with herself. Then stand in the hallway outside and continue (if I recall correctly, been a while since that part of the book). Not that night but eventually, she meets a man whole will become her Master. That man happened to witness her actions. And had previously seen her at the hotel. That man is none other than . . . Santa Claus. Who is always watching you. Be naughty or nice. Wait, no, it's . . . John.
That guy who I mentioned above *waves vaguely upwards*, John? I’ve forgotten what his specific background is, but he has a distinctive British accent. Which I mention because, after a certain event, hell I’ll just say it. After becoming Alix’s master, he never attempts to talk to Alix while Alix knows him as John (that’s awkwardly phrased, I know, while in the mode of Master, Alix wears a blindfold and the room is kept darkish when she isn’t; when not in the mode of Master . . . John continues his never actually talking with Alix, now with the added risk that if he did, his distinctive accent would immediately give him away). So.
John keeps stopping by the hotel, not because he really likes hotel lobbies, flirty receptionists (desk attendants? Desk managers? Bloody hell, can’t remember what they are called), nor specifically because of Alix. But because he lives there. And, occasionally, uses one of the hotel rooms for work. For he is a sex therapist. The kind who helps couples who are in need of help. With sex. He, no longer, allows himself to be involved directly – at least no more directly than being in the same room.
Alix doesn’t believe she can have a real relationship (romantic or otherwise, i.e. friends) because of her sex addiction. John won’t allow himself to have a relationship because of the nature of whom and what he is. He has had too much experience with those who freak out about his job; and/or turn out to be inadequate submissives (that was mentioned, I forget now how). Yet both are drawn to the other. They complement each other’s needs and desires. The book follows this couple as they move from strangers to vaguely couple like status.
I must have hated this book, right? I mean, I started reading the book on the 20th. No, not 11 days ago. The 20th of November. And completed it on the 31st of December. Six weeks. 42 days. 1008 hours. 60,480 minutes. 11.51% of 2015. If you are familiar with my reading style then you might know why I am belaboring the amount of time taken to read this book. If not, then not. It’s simple. I have on occasion read 3 books on the same day. Though that’s stretching things and likely the first book had been started the night before, and all three are super short, but it’s been done. Books not short stories. Toss in short stories and the numbers go up. It’s a book of only 217 pages. It shouldn’t have taken this long to read, right? Well, no not right. I always take longer with certain books. Nonfiction. Wordy fiction. Erotica that is book length. I read them, at least erotica, in short chunks. Meaning that I didn’t read, or need 1008 hours to read the book. At least not in terms of amount of actual reading time.
Okay, that was a boring paragraph above. I only meant to note that it took me a while to read this but it was my own choice and not a reflection of the book itself. It was a clean well written book without anything that pushed me out, caused me issues, or otherwise ‘deserved’ to look like a ‘problem book’.
I liked the book. I’m not 100% certain I like John, but he was ‘livable’. I liked Alix though she was kind of down on herself. Straight forward BDSM novel. There’s no non-consent or dubious consent moments. Heck, John kept up a steady stream of comments, dropping them here and there, to reassure Alix, and himself, that everything was okay (I’m making that specific aspect seem worse than I mean). Certain boundaries are pushed, but with great care. There are only, really, two negatives.
First negative (One) - after being so concerned with how Alix was reacting to everything, and wanting to make sure she didn’t flee or anything like that, dragging her out into the bondage club, while blindfolded, and wearing only panties without first determining if that might or might not be an issue was vaguely confusing. In that he seemed determined to make sure everything else ‘worked’. To just drag her out there seemed out of character. Granted, I only thought of this specific negative after I started thinking about the book as a BDSM novel. At the time I probably thought of it, but it wasn’t really much of an issue. She didn’t panic, nor find herself in a situation she didn’t know how to get out of or anything like that. So it was all good. And stuff.
Second negative (Two) – this is a much more important negative. I’ve mentioned before that John works as a sex therapist. I mentioned use of hotel rooms. Apparently he also has an office (not important), and also works as an online (anonymous) consultant. At some point, Alix begins to use the service (and will continue to do so throughout the book). I forget now how John knew immediately that it was Alix, but he knew immediately. Despite both using code names as online handles. This initial online consultation isn’t the issue necessarily. He knew of her, had seen her, but had never interacted with her in any way before this initial online interaction. No, it was later, when she continued to use the service. And he continued ‘handling’ her. After they became an item. That’s . . . unethical and super creepy. And that’s not even considering the part where Alix didn’t know who her online doctor was, nor that she actually knew him.
Despite those two negatives, which I noticed in passing but didn’t actually and really get annoyed about, I enjoyed the book. I’m not exactly sure what could be in a second book. Though know that there’s both a prequel and a sequel to this book here. I’ll probably read another book by Rachael Orman but not sure I’ll read the sequel.
In terms of ratings – somewhere along the way I had a system. At some point I broke the system and started thinking of ratings in terms of deducting ½ or full stars for certain things. I’m sure I overrated (and/or underrated) books in the past during my brief run of insanity. Well, I was using a baseline of 5. ‘There’s nothing bad about it, so I’ll give it a five’. I don’t think any book actually crept into the five star slot because of that, but some probably got overrated because I’d fallen into that trap. No, I start with three, as ‘average’ and deduct or add as needed. In theory. Mostly I just wing it. Like now. I liked the book. Roughly 4.5 much. So . . . I deem this book 4.5 stars! Or something.
ETA: oh right, I just thought of something of a negative I forgot to mention. John kept calling Alix his Precious. And capitalized it. It was . . . . giggle-worthy. In that John kept turning into Gollum in my mind.
This is the first book in the Cravings series by Rachael Orman. This book is free in the Kindle store if you are interested in it.
I think I am probably fascinated by this book for one because they reveal the BDSM community and how it works. Totally not my scene but fascinating. I also enjoyed the way that John and Alix found out that their similar addictions went together. The whole blindfolded submissive made it interesting to have anticipation for what might happen when the blindfold suddenly came off and it revealed who “Master” truly was.
Just a completely interesting read. This is part of a three book series and I have already dig into book two for the ongoing saga of John and Alix.
WELL, DAMN! I downloaded this as a kindle freebie months ago and I am kicking myself for just now getting to it. This is BDSM done correctly. It correctly describes a sub/dom dynamic IMO and not just the "im gonna tie you up and bully you" most books tend to do. A few things made me go, "ehh." A few things were rushed. Overall, top notch spice. Added the other books in the series to my TBR and will not be wasting any time to start them!
A lot of misspellings and grammatical errors, sentences that didn’t make sense. A plot that had promise at the beginning but was completely forgotten by chapter 3. There were some good spicy scenes but most of them were just mediocre. The book had potential but it needed major cleaning up and restructuring.
This book was a very pleasant surprise.I recieved a copy from the autor to read and review, so here it goes.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but I can already see that the new love was born. In a word, this novel is amazing!
It's a story of Alix and her peculiar and, in a way, very interesting addiction. She's struggling with a problem many of us did't ever know existed. Every single one of her days Alix lives on the edge, because not only could her addiction easily get her fired, but her need could destroy her future as well.
After three years of resistance she falls again. After all this time, this one man could end any hope she has in a normal and happy life. And he doesn't even know it! He doesn't know her. He doesn't even notice her. Admiring him from afar, day by day she lets her control slip away, until one day he sees her doing it. Doing THAT in the middle of the hotel, in a public place, where a hundred people could see her. But nothing is more important than the need she has to fulfill.
After that something unbelievable happens: one evening changes her life forever. She meets Master J, a man who could show her a different side of her addiction, introduce her to a new lifestyle that would make her see past the need to please herself no matter the consequences. She could learn how to please him. And like every minute of it.
How will Alix find a balance between the two perfect men? They're both mysterious and appealing. They're both irresistible.
And then we have our second protagonist, John, the one that has it all planned out. He's the one who'll make Alix's (and ours!) hearts stop for a moment. Hes blue eyes and brown hair leave women breathless. And his "job and his addiction are contradictions to each other"- the one we'd die to read more about.
I fell for this BDSM Romantic Novel instantly! It's actually an eye-opening novel that shows us so much more than just great sex (but it is great, oh yes it is :D). It's educational and confirms a real love towards the BDSM lifestyle and its participants.
The characters and their stories consumed me from the very beginning and made me read and read and read....they're just so alive and realistic and when you meet'em, you love'em.
I'm so excited to read the second novel in the Cravings series and after you read Addict, you will be too!
This is my first book by Rachael Orman, but it won't be my last. I loved this book. I loved Alix and Master J, and I loved the basic premise.
Alix has a problem. You see she's addicted to masturbation. She has been through treatments for it. She has lost a job over it. But she seemed to finally have it under control, until the handsome mysterious man started showing up at the hotel she worked at. Alix never spoke to the man, but she admired him from afar every time she saw him. It eventually got to the point where she started masturbating to him while at work, threatening her job once again.
Things change when a friend talks her into going to a sex club. It's there she meets the mysterious Master J. He seems to know her body and her cravings even better than herself. She finds herself easily falling under his dominant spell. Master J hides his appearance from her using blindfolds and darkened rooms. What she doesn't know is that the handsome man from her job and Master J are one and the same.
I'm not giving anything away by revealing that because the novel alternatively switches POV from Alix to Master J. This alternating POV can be disconcerting and confusing if it's not done correctly, but Rachael seems to have it well under control. I loved it because we got to see everything from both person's perspective. That gave us a better understanding of what was going on.
My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that it seemed a bit unrealistic that Master J could have hidden his appearance from her for so long. You'd think that eventually the blind fold would slip, or Alix would glance up for a split second at the wrong moment. Eventually Alix does learn the truth of course, and she is about as shocked as you'd imagine.
The sex scenes are about as hot as they come. You will definitely need to change your panties several times before you finish the book.
The book ends at a good point, setting us up nicely for Fiend (Cravings #2) due in February 2015. I, for one, will be standing in line to get it.
Alix is an addict but her addiction does not take the form of the standard substance abuse that you might imagine, she is addicted to sex and finding a way to satisfy her needs is not always easy. She has tried to manage the way she is and to handle the cravings that possess her soul but therapy has failed to provide a remedy that she can live with. Her body rules her mind and because of that she often feels nothing but remorse but sex is the means to an end, the who and where bear no consequence to her. Does she feel shame – yes but can she resolve that –no. Although Master J may be the answer to her prayers but she doesn’t know it yet. Master J is John the sex therapist from the first book in the series and John knows what buttons to push and when. He is a dominant man who when he sees Alix at the local BDSM club, is floored by the desire to have her to himself. He creates a scenario where he is able to confront her, yet maintain his anonymity, he orders her to return to the club the following night – specifically for him. She is to ask for him by name Master J and they will find out then if what he is what she needs – I have a feeling that there are few that would turn him down! John is a complicated character, he exercises complete control in his own sexual encounters but exudes empathy with others when providing his own special brand of therapy. His own disposition for inflicting pain is as far removed from what I had anticipated, it actually floored me for a moment. But is he what he seems or is he really too good to be true? What will Alix do if she finds out who he really is and can the secrets that remain between them be overcome, will they emerge together and intact? There are so many questions that this sexy as sin book left me with a need to know exactly what the hell I had let myself in for – I opened a door that I haven’t got the will or inclination to close because it is seriously hot inside and I am willing to get my fingers burnt waiting for the next book.

This was a very different story than what I am used to reading. This is the first book I read from this author and I believe it won't be the last.
Alix is a woman who has addiction problems, and we're not talking about drugs addiction here, but more like sex addiction. She masturbates everywhere she possibly can and she isn't ashamed of it. She fantasizes about "John" a sexy man that comes through the hotel she works at almost on a daily basis.
John, a sexy DOM who counsels couples and helps them with their sexual fantasies and/or helps them overcome their sex problems. He hasn't been with a woman, in a relationship in a long time because he doesn't think he can find someone who has the same kinks and interests as him.
Alix starts having sessions with Master J and she falls in lust with this man. She has no idea who he is as he blindfolds her. Master J doesn't want Alix to find out who he is, he's not ready for her to see him as he's afraid she might leave him. Alix has become a fixation, an obsession for John.
What will happen when Alix finds out who Master J really is? Will she want to continue this DOM/Sub relationship with him?
I enjoyed reading this book, it did have quite some kinky scenes but nothing I haven't read before. Alex was a woman just trying to cope with her addiction and Master J was there to help her and he was doing a great job in distracting her from keeping her from doing it in public places. Alex seemed to submit to her master fairly quick, but it seemed to work for her.
I give this book 4 stars as the story did captivate me, I loved the whole mysterious side that it gave and how Alix was able to submit to someone she didn't even know. I find that kind of sexy!
I can't pretend to even know what it would be like to suffer every day as a person addicted to sex. I would imagine it would be hard to stay focused on the task at hand especially when an object of your desire walks into your work place. Alix has that issue in this story. Her "object" is a handsome man who comes into the hotel she works in on the same schedule daily and she makes sure she's where she can see him as he gets his key and goes to his room.
John has watched Alix for quite sometime. She's his obsession. She just doesn't know it - yet. How and when to make his move, if ever, is the question.
His dream comes true the moment Alix steps through the door into a BDSM party. He watches her. Studies her. She's made his day - and she doesn't even know it.
So in order not to spoil the story for you - I think the relationship between the characters seem to be real and they interact well with each other. There's definite sexual tension between Alix and John. He's helping her and she's easing his obsession. I think there could be some more Domination on John's part and I didn't really see the need for his secrecy.
However, like all good stories, there's a few secrets and barriers that need to be broken through. Their relationship, such as it is, is not built on full disclosure. For a BDSM relationship - that can cause some major issues.
The biggest question toward the end of the book is - will Alix and John survive their secrets?
I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
When sex addict Alix's life collides with that of sex therapist and control addict John's, so begins their erotic journey together as they satisfy each other's needs through a BDSM lifestyle. Whilst John is fully aware of Alix and her desires as he has been secretly keeping tabs on her, he keeps his identity secret from her. As trust is one of the biggest components of any relationship, but particularly a BDSM one, what will Alix do when she discovers who her Master actually is?
Alix's addiction has taken hold of her life, resulting in her taking more and more chances to satisfy her urges. Her life is anything but normal or controlled but exploring a BDSM relationship helps her control her addiction. Everything about her screams help through a seeming lack of confidence and a lack of social interactions with those around her but no-one, except John, picks up on this. Instead thinking that she is aloof, cold and stuck-up.
John exudes confidence and control and is exactly what Alix needs. His desire for her is there long before their formal introduction and his methods slightly dubious. He is strong and extremely sure of himself but his desire for Alix brings out a vulnerability in him.
This was a highly sexy and erotic read. It was a read that I really enjoyed as I was captivated by Alix's character. She draws you in with her vulnerability. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where their story takes them next as secrets are revealed.
After reading Addict. I'm an addict and I have an addiction for John!! The whole story was different. I've never read a book like it before. We first get to meet John, a sex therapist in Lost Desires and now in Addict we get a much better understanding of what makes the man tick. Alix has been battling her own demons and John has the ability to help her. What he can do for her is just what she needs. I don't want to say too much about the story as I don't want to ruin it for anyone but I loved Addict. I LOVE John. He's so strong, commanding, in control but he has a softer side to him which tugged at my heart. Nothing turns me to mush faster than a man who is normally so strong displaying a gentleness about him. Very sexy. Well the man is that. He's hot, sexy and guaranteed to get the heart fluttering. I loved Addict, I loved John, that man is mine and I'm curious to find out more about Alix. There is definitely a past to her that is hinted at, but I'm guessing won't come out until book 2. There are a few twists and turns to this story. I hated for it to end and can't wait for the next book in the series. Rachael Orman sure knows how to write steamy and I had a few moments where I could have used a bucket of ice. The story is sexy, sensual and hot. LOVED IT!!
This one is different from Rachael's other books in the aspects of pushing sexual limits, there were some moments where I was like 'the eff?' Because it was just beyond weird to me. Alix has no problem asking for what she wants, "please, sir, eff me. I need it. Everything you've done to me has only turned me on to the point that it is painful. I need release, sir." John I liked him, "may I pleasure you?" I hadn't expected her to ask such a thing. The fact that she asked instead of doing as she wanted told me she was learning more about being a submissive." He's quite the dirty talker as well, "oh, no, Precious. That is where you are wrong. I will be effing you...and soon. Just be thankful that I have more control and discipline than you do. If I had my way, you'd be bent over this desk with my d*** so deep you'd never forget who I am and just how much you mean to me." Every time John called her 'Precious' it made me think of the Golem person from Lord of the Rings. Then ending wasn't too bad it wasn't like 'I WILL EFFIN' MURDER YOU IF I DON'T GET THE NEXT BOOK NOW!' type of thing, it just leaves room for Alix and John's relationship to grow. Other than a couple of scenes that made me uneasy I liked this book.
I enjoyed the plot of this book, a sex addict who meets the man of her dreams at a BDSM club. Who happens to be the guy she drools over at her job, and her current new master. Also, he has been counseling her for her sex addiction by computer. The plot twist of him knowing her already because he has been stalking her for some time now was a nice touch.
John and Alix start a master a sub relationship, but Alix is not allowed to see his face. Which Alix finds sexy at first, then when her feelings come more into play, she wants to know all of her master. They go through a wide range of sexual acts, some were hot to read about, some were just a little too much for me. I felt some of the BDSM was over the top, more for shock value than story.
I did enjoy the relationship connection they made with each other, but I did not like how it ended how easy Alix got over being deceived, by the man who she trusted with her mind, body and soul. Also, I've never been a fan of a cliffhangers. I was bit disappointed in this book, I think it had so much potential to be an amazing book and it just fell short.
I would rate this book 2 fangs.
