Peach-Pit

Peach-Pit (ピーチ・ピット Pīchi Pitto) is a female manga artist duo in Japan, made up of Banri Sendo (千道 万里 Sendō Banri) and Shibuko Ebara (えばら 渋子 Ebara Shibuko). Their group name derives from the diner hangout Peach-Pit from the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210. Although both have similar styles, with some artwork it is possible to identify which artist drew it. Both are known for their bishōjo styled works. As noted in their books, they are both Geminis and have "Almost flushed our phones down the toilet...twice."

The two of them grew up together and went to the same elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Both started as doujinshi manga artists, but not as Peach-Pit. Then they were scouted by Dengeki Comic Gao!. In 2008, one of their manga, Shugo Chara!, was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga. Shugo Chara was also turned later into an Anime television series.

All the couples that end up in these last four chapters were the ones I were routing for! Although the last chapter wasn't super concrete, it heavily implies , which is still, even seven years later, my favorite couple in all of the manga I've read.

Forgive me. I'm being nostalgic. This series comprised of my childhood, and I so very, very much enjoyed it back in 2009. :(

Aww, I LOVE THE ENDING!!!!! (nobody will really read it, so I can just give this away. Except for you, Diana!). Not so much the begining or the middle.... Nagihiko is in love with Rima, Kairi has a small crush on Yaya when he already swore he loves Amu, Kukai is with Utau ( they are so adorable together despite their age difference!), and Nikadou is marrying Sanjou. The best scene was the end. Ikuto returns from his travels and attends the wedding and visits Amu at the amusement park, and Hikaru's egg begins to hatch. Aruto comes back for Sako after traveling the world. When Amu catches the bouquet, Nagihiko tells her at the same time he is Nadeshiko, and in shock, throws the bouquet again. When falling, both Tadase and Ikuto catch her, and then her Guardian Characters re hatch and catch the bouquet!!!! RAN, MIKI, SU AND DIAMOND ARE BACK!!! THEY'RE BACK THEY'RE BACK THEY'RE-I'm making a fool of myself again.

I already did a review of the series in Shugo Chara Vol. 1, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I finished the series!
Yesterday, I was browsing through the shelves of my library and when I saw volumes 11-12, I jumped at them like a monkey. And I finished them both last night.

I loved Shugo Chara as a whole series. There was beautiful art, an original plot, and it's ADORABLE. Though the ending for this series was very, very, very, very, very happy, THERE ARE STILL SOME UNANSWERED QUESTIONS!!! I wonder if there will be a sequel to this series, but I'm not entirely sure.

I still have questions about Ikuto and Tadase and how they will both manage to fight for Amu--as well as what happens to the guardian characters when the guardians grow up to be adults. A series can't end like this, can it???

Anyway, I loved Shugo Chara. It was adorable and the characters were poofy!!!!

Theresa's Dictionary: Poofy
UTTERLY ADORABLE AND PLUMPY LOOKING!!! I believe the term is "Chibi".

Anyway, I loved Shugo Chara. The ending covered all of the side characters and stuff, but I'm wondering if there will be a sequel series?
If so, I will do whatever I can in my ninja power to get my hands on it. Mwah. HA. HA.

I really loved it and it was such a great ending. All of the questions had been answered, except the biggest one about Amu though, but I was still well contented.

I was thrilled in every page and each story was amazing. This manga really deserves a great amount of praise.

I wish Amuto had a more definite ending.... Kaiya really took me by surprise, but I love Kutau.
A very good series :)

This was a beautiful story, even though it was for younger kids. I loved the lessons it taught and how you feel in love with the characters. I'll be watching the anime, for sure.

(This is actually the "bonus manga," but I'm still counting it since it continues from where volume 11 leaves off.)

I fell in love with the anime Shugo Chara! back in November 2017, where I spent the next several months devouring the ENTIRE series, both main seasons, and the third "mini episode" season. But funny enough, this was not my original exposure to the series. In 2013, when I was still quite new to the world of anime and manga, I would read random manga series at Barnes & Noble or the library, and I read the first three volumes of Shugo Chara! out of boredom.... and was promptly unimpressed and rather turned off by the over-saturated cuteness. As time went on, and I stopped being an utter snob when it comes to media as a whole, I began to slowly revisit several manga and anime series that I had originally found to be "too cute" or "too silly." Most times, to my pleasant surprise, I found myself falling in love with said series, among them being titles like Sailor Moon, Full Moon wo Sagashite (the anime), Special A, etc etc.

And as it so happens, Shugo Chara! is one of those series, and I'm so very glad I gave it another chance!

This is definitely an EXTREMELY cutesy magical girl series, with its adorable shoujo style, chibi "shugo chara" or "guardian characters," and sappy inspirational message: just be yourself! This is a great manga and anime to start off for preteens, because it features 11 and 12 year old heroes, who are in elementary school in Japan, but in most American schools, would be considered middle-schoolers. The entire series focuses on how to express your "true self" to others, and learning how to balance that with society's expectations. Amu, the heroine, struggles in the beginning to be herself, when faced with rumors about her persona thrust upon her without invitation. Over time, she grows and accepts her fears, her pains, her worries, and her insecurities, ready to continue growing and changing and not be too afraid of what the future holds.

The message is cliche, but no less powerful. In a world that constantly slams down on our dreams and desires, it's easy to lose sight of what really matters to you. Series like Shugo Chara! gently remind us that it's okay to stumble, it's okay to take time finding yourself, because that's part of life. Because we live in a world without mini "Guardian Characters" to watch over and guide us, we must make do with fictional stories and characters that inspire us instead. This is a sweet, loving series that warms the heart and fills up the hope jar with impossible dreams.

Because we don't have to be our "outer character" that the world puts on us. We can just be ourselves, in the best ways possible, and love growing and changing every step of the way. This is a lovely little series, with a mostly; see spoiler harmless, sweet little story with memorable characters, hilarious comedy, and beautiful artwork.

A nice epilogue to conclude the series! In general, it deserves 3 stars for the little amount of effort put into it. Instead, I gave it 4.5 stars because I vaguely remeber the anime. If I didn’t watch the anime many years ago, I would give this manga addition the lower ranting.

Seriously, the pairings make no sense if you don’t watch the anime! In addition, the chapters felt like a few pages were missing since they were so short. As a conclusion for the series, “Encore!” felt like a jumble of forgotten storylines for the manga. Some could say this was the leftover omakes not a true sequel. Also, the chara and egg factors were completely forgotten in this installment. In my opinion, the best part of the universe is Ikuto and the charas!

If you read the manga and watched the anime, though, “Encore!” felt like a nice ending that prolonged the enjoyment for “Shugo Chara!” universe. Who knows.... maybe there will be more of Amu and the gang in the future?

First of all:
"You wander around and get distracted but still manage to find your way to the destination."
Same.

Second:
Love the message of pursuing and knowing who you want to be being a lifelong process. The reason why adults don't see their guardian (who they want to be) with the same clarity is because we have so much more to think about, and arguably, be distracted by.

I also liked the imagery of seeing who you want to be through the window of your heart. Even if the window gets foggy (distractions, misunderstandings, anxiety), the window can always be wiped clean.

Aside from questionable fan service, cute characters, clear character development, and a rare show of introspection. Glad I finally finished the series (only took me 5000 years to come back to it).

Encore is super cute, and ties up the ends into a nice little bow. Shugo Chara is a straight forward story with no real filler chapters like other mangas have. Each book pushes the plot forward and to the end, so the last book takes the time to give you a bit more filler and explanation of what happens to all the characters; not just the main ones. I actually really enjoy this, but I wish the these story had be more integrated into the overall story instead of just at the end. Either way, I am glad they give you these as they help a lot to rounding out the end and future of these characters.

I just finished the whole series. I am so heart broken now. I really wanted to see the sweethearts as they grow up. I love Ikuto and Amu together. Why did it have to end?!? I love Utau and Kuukai couple the best in the short stories. I loved the last chapter where it is the wedding. The four shugo charas, Ran, Miki, Suu, and Dia are back! FINALLY! I have to watch the anime or my heart will feel empty.

Even though this is the epilogue volume, it's probably the cutest one... with the exception of the icky 5-6 years age gap between Amu and Ikuto, which is huge difference in the preteen-teen age range 😬

Also, romanticizing an absentee husband & father is a no go for me (though the whole series is guilty of that, not just this volume).

The end of this series is adorable. Like seriously, adorable. There's no other way to describe it. It does make it feel like a complete end.

SPOILER
The second real kiss in the series and it still wasn't even the main couple. UGH. xD My heart.

A good conclusion, but not the greatest. I like that we see how each person has changed in their relationships with each other and all the ways they're growing. Sad to leave this story behind, but feel like a lot of positive things are in the future for everyone.

Sad to see the series end! Everything was so sweet and I love the extra stories in this final volume! It ties all loose ends up, has some adorable art and moments, and is just a great way to end the series! I'm already missing Shugo Chara! and want to go for another re-read already! Loved it!

This was a collection of short stories involving couples from *Shugo Chara!*, some of them being expected and some of them not.

The first story is about KuUtau (Kukai & Utau), where they keep texting to meet up for ramen contests, and end up falling in love. Short and sweet. I liked it.

The second story is about Rima & Nagihiko/Nadeshiko. As a couple, I like them. I like how this was a slower story that showed them getting to know one another just a little better before opening completely to one another.

The third story is about Yaya & Kairi. I never imagined these 2 as a couple, honestly. It goes to show that it's true that *Opposites Attract.*. With Yaya being babyish like she is and Kairi being the studious "Always on top of it all" type that he is, they can balance one another out and make things work.

The fourth (final!) story is about the wedding of Sanjo and Nikaidou AND the graduation of Amu, Tadase, and Nagihiko. Also, after Amu catches the bouquet, Nagihiko's secret comes out. While this story is billed as being about Amuto (Amu & Ikuto), which is a pairing I truly despise, it's really more about the Tadase-Amu-Ikuto love triangle. Seems like neither guy wants to give her up.

First things first: this is technically not the final volume of Shugo Chara! Despite what the back cover might say, this is actually the Encore one-volume sequel to the main story, which ended in the eleventh volume. Naturally, the Encore volume is folded into the parent series to make it easier for fans to find it in bookstores and make things less confusing with different titles. Tomato, to – well, you know. It is more a collection of chapters exploring various characters' futures and feelings after the explosive finale to the Easter Corporation arc, focusing mainly on those within the Guardians group, and provides some needed emotional closure to several character arcs, including that of Amu Hinamori and her love interest, Ikuto.

This volume ends up not only tying up a bunch of loose ends for various subplots but also brings the entirety of the Shugo Chara story to a sweet, satisfying close that will linger in fans' hearts for quite a while.

I loved all the new relationships developing, and I was so happy Ikuto could make an appearance (✿◠‿◠) I just wish I could have more of this story and know what happens to everyone! Love this series so much.

Amu was a great character, she was a little whiny at times but overall she was able to fight and stand up for what she believed in. I liked her relationship with everyone else.

The guardians added some comedic humor to the series and you can't go wrong with a little battle magic.

For fans of Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew.
