A.R. Hunink loves a good story. With a passion for weaving suspense and expectation into captivating storylines, she takes a modern approach to the depth and beauty of classic literature. When she’s not crafting worlds or writing her own languages, she is with her family or doting on her beloved rabbit. She cordially invites you to pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of warm tea, and allow the story to play out before you on the stage of your imagination.
So the concept had me absolutely thrilled, I got into it and was somewhat confused. A lot of it was dreamy and hard to follow, I felt very disconnected from the actual story and a lot of the elements were hazy. I loved most of the characters they had their own unique developments although I say some of them were broader temperment or stereotypical differences in characters they were pretty good. Worldbuilding was vibrant, absolutely vivd and blew up my imagination. I felt like the story was rather dark, the ending was far better but during the story it was unnecesarily dark. It deals with very hard things, or so I gathered, but I defenitely feel like, as a philisophical question that it was a pretty simple answer. Although her dying was a terrible thing to experience, the life draining from the main character and you could feel her slipping through your fingers I honestly felt that it was the best thing. For the twins... they had violent humor Im not sure what they added but a little twinge of... almost guilt on the readers part for reading it. The LI was extremely well done and though Clarie was rather violent she also had an air of purity and separation from it that kept me caring for her in all but a few parts. I think the fantastical elements made it worse rather than better. The author should have stuck with sci-fi and the wild reckoner twist rather then fantasy/science. I do think that if it were rewritten to encompass a little less darkness in some parts it would be an extremely good read but I was a little wigged out by some of it.
