A knock on the door in the middle of the night catches ex-Special Forces Simon Peake off guard. He only recognizes one of the three men standing on the other side, and the ‘help’ they need is to dispose of a dead body crumpled in the trunk of their car.
Problem is - the woman in the trunk isn’t dead at all.
In a matter of moments, Peake makes a call to help and protect this stranger, but it’s a decision that will drag him back into the dark and dangerous world of drug cartels, mob bosses, and rogue CIA operatives who will stop at nothing to use Peake as a pawn in their games.
Having spent the last few months living in near seclusion in small town Georgia, Peake is once again faced with his past. He knows why these men have chosen to come to his door in their hour of need, but unfortunately for them, they didn’t realise what a deadly mistake that would be…
Ex Special Forces person, Simon Peake was living quietly on a remote farm in Georgia, away from the noise of the town, but when he heard a knock on the door in the middle of the night, he was caught unawares. One of the three men he knew, but not the others. They wanted - demanded - his help in getting rid of a body, stashed in the boot of their car, but when Peake checked, the woman wasn't dead. Badly injured, brutally beaten, but alive. So Peake did what he did best - he got rid of the two strangers, while the one he knew ran off. And he cared for the woman until she regained consciousness.
Dragged back into the world he'd tried to escape from, with the strange woman by his side, he attempted to discover what was going on; who had tried to kill this woman. It wasn't long before Peake was in the sights of the bad guys around town; drug cartels, agents who'd moved over to the bad side, and mob bosses who showed no fear (though they should have). Peake was determined to find the answers he needed; but did he believe the tales the woman was telling him? Not particularly, but he had a way to make her tell the truth...
Deadly Mistake is the 2nd in the Simon Peake Thrillers by Rob Sinclair and although I haven't read #1, I didn't suffer from it. Filled with fast paced tension, gripping scenarios and brutal bad guys, I couldn't put the book down! Simon is a great character - a good "bad" guy, empathetic to the victims and downtrodden, but definitely not to the bad guys! A fantastic read which I recommend, and I'm looking forward to the next.
With thanks to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for my digital ARC to read and review.
This is the 2nd explosive thriller in the Simon Peake series by this author and it is absolutely chock-full of action, twists, and shocks.
Peake has tried to lay low, but this is not him. He attracts trouble. His current relationship is ok but he doesn't really have any commitment, even though Jenn would like to think it has. Her brother brings trouble to his door, and rather than doing as he was asked to do and get rid of the body, he shoots the messengers.
This story once again has Peake in the midst of chaos, crime and government agencies. The agencies play by their own rules, but then so do others. Not everything is above board in the small town in Georgia. There are gangs and affiliations as well as freelancers and then there is Peake. A Brit ex special forces with a dubious background, but has does seem to have a "do the right thing" attitude, albeit in a "not by the book" way!
The pacing of this story is fast, there are many twists, and then more twists. The author has a great way of conveying the crimes the twists and also letting the plots and conclusions fall just right. It means as a reader I am never completely sure if the idea I have in my head is right but as I read it always seems to make sense. You may make some connections, but not all of them so there are shocks to be had.
This is a book that deals with crime, murder and gangs, so there is some interesting reading, but kept within the context of the story and not the gory details, well, not too much!
If you are looking for a fast-paced, action-packed story with an interesting lead protagonist, then this one may be right for you. I adored the second book as much as the first and can't wait to see what the author has lined up for Peake next. I would definitely recommend it.
I enjoyed this one it’s his second book in the Simon peake series

Deadly Mistake by Rob Sinclair. Simon Peake thriller book 2. I really did enjoy this book. Even though I haven't read book one I really enjoyed it. I was able to read it. This is a new author for me. It was full of action from the start. I couldn't put it down. I read this in two sittings. It was full of twists. Even some I didn't see coming. I loved Simon's character. I had a theory. But with this one, I was completely wrong. I will be reading book one. I definitely recommend.
3.5 stars for me. I read this book as an ARC from NetGalley and this review is my honest feedback of the story based on my reading.
I came into Deadly Mistake with high hopes having read the previous book. It is Book Two in the Simon Peake series and promises a fast paced gritty thriller. The opening scene already sets the tone: a knock at Simon Peake’s door late in the night, three men, a body in the trunk and the shock that the “dead” woman inside is not dead after all. From there the plot drags Peake back into a world he has tried to leave behind: one of drug cartels, mob bosses, rogue CIA operatives, betrayals, and violence. The stakes are high and the risks feel real.
One of the strongest aspects of this novel is its action sequences. Rob does not shy from tension. Car chases, gunfights, fights of survival, constant danger: these parts are constructed with enough detail to be immersive. Peake’s background in special forces comes into play, both in his skill set and in the scars both physical and emotional that still haunt him. This gives the character moments of genuine vulnerability which help temper the otherwise relentless pace. There are also surprises and twists that work well to keep the reader second-guessing what might happen next.
However for me there were edges of Deadly Mistake that prevented it from rising beyond “good.” First the cast of antagonists and secondary characters felt a bit underdeveloped. Some villains are somewhat generic, motivations sketched but not always fully fleshed out. The plotting, while ambitious, sometimes asks us to accept coincidences or leaps in logic that stretch credulity. At times I wished for more breathing room: time to understand the relationships, the emotional cost, Peake’s internal conflicts beyond the action.
Rob Sinclair delivers what the genre and his book blurb promises. The writing moves swiftly, dialogue crackles and the descriptions of danger are visceral. The pacing is relentless which is both a blessing and a burden: it keeps adrenaline high but occasionally leaves little room for reflection or character depth. The moral shades are present but not always probed deeply.
Overall,, I admired the story's raw energy, its momentum and its promise of how the Simon Peake arc might evolve. But I also felt that some of the promise was lost to clichés and missed opportunities to deepen what is still a memorable hero and a more haunting antagonist. Fans of fast high stake thrillers with gunfire and grit will likely enjoy this. Those seeking more nuance or emotional resonance may find themselves wanting a bit more. A well read volume.
Deadly Mistake is the second installment in Rob Sinclair’s Simon Peake series, and it delivers another dark, fast-paced, and violent ride. I really enjoyed Dead Reckoning, so I was eager to see where Sinclair would take Peake next. This time, instead of New York, we find him in Georgia, trying to keep a low profile—but of course, trouble finds him anyway.
The opening is explosive: three men show up at Peake’s door with a “body” in the trunk, expecting him to dispose of it. The catch? The woman isn’t dead. Peake refuses to finish the job, and in doing so, sets off a chain of brutal consequences that drags him into a world of gangs, cartels, and corrupt operatives who all have their own agenda. From that moment forward, it’s relentless action and escalating stakes.
Sinclair has a knack for writing an anti-hero you can’t look away from. Peake is ruthless, clever, and capable of immense violence, but there’s also a streak of loyalty and morality that makes him compelling. He’s not a typical clean-cut hero—he’s the guy you call when you’re in trouble, though you may regret getting him involved.
Be warned: this book doesn’t hold back on violence. There are scenes that edge into truly disturbing territory, and while it’s not gratuitously gory, it’s definitely not a cozy thriller. That said, it suits the world Sinclair has built. The villains are vile, the tension is high, and the danger feels very real.
The pacing is excellent, moving from one explosive set piece to the next without losing sight of the bigger mystery: who is the woman Peake has chosen to save, and why does everyone want her dead? By the time the pieces click into place, it’s clear this is only the beginning of a much larger game.
Deadly Mistake feels like a movie playing out on the page—action-packed, gritty, and relentless. Fans of Jack Reacher, Jason Bourne, or Mark Dawson’s Beatrix Rose series will feel right at home here. I’ll definitely be waiting to see what Sinclair throws at Simon Peake next.
Deadly Mistake by Rob Sinclair Simon Peake Thriller #2
~ Dark, deadly, disturbing action-packed fast-paced story that grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go ~ Great addition to the series ~
What I liked: *Simon Peake: British, ex-special forces, checkered past, dark-gray anti-hero, a bit of a loner, protective, learned a bit more about his past though still a bit of a cipher, lives by his own rules, seems to care about the underdog, intriguing * Jenn: bartender, sibling, Adam’s sister, Simon’s current girlfriend * Adam: a bit of a mystery, in with some bad dudes, survivor, brother of Jenn, asks Simon for help with an issue that sees more than one in a difficult position * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * Beginning to understand and care about Simon even though he is not squeaky clean – he is growing on me as I get to know him better * That though graphic in portraying what happens in painful scenes…it is not so detailed and explicit that I had to close the book or skip pages * That it was easy to dislike the bad guys and wish Karma would deal with them * The twist during a hurricane that reveals a whole lot more about the woman Simon has saved * That I was left wanting to find out where Simon will end up next and what situation he will have to deal with
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * Thinking about the bad guys and what they were willing to do to others for any number of reasons – a lot of harm and pain were dealt out by them * Having to wait for the next book in the series.
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.
I enjoyed the original book in this series, Dead Reckoning, so was looking forward to the second book. I had hoped he would still be in New York and finish the little things from that one but we are in Georgia with a new problem. He also has a new shifty employer - but when you are an ex con and hiding, life can be like that I guess.
Be warned that this one is very violent if you are not into that. It rarely bothers me but there were a few scenes in this that leaned more into psychopath than typical thriller violence. Not indepth gore, but not just shooting/stabbing people like similar books either. Dead Reckoning was too, but this one hits differently.
It seems like Peake has been busy since getting to Georgia despite wanting a quiet life and hiding out after New York. When someone knocks on his door, he knows already that Peake is the kind of guy who can help you get rid of a body. The problem is, this one is still breathing and murdering her a second time over is not something Peake will do (and we know he has a soft spot for women).
That starts him on a path where he will battle CIA operatives, local gangs and more as he tries to find out just who the woman is and why someone would want her dead. Although I am not sure why anyone trusted Hardy to do it when his guys didn't have a definite plan for disposing of her body. It seems like he should know how to get rid of a body from other scenes?
Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the copy for review. It looks like we will have to wait a while for the next one with an expected publication date of July 2026 but I am looking forward to reading that one too.
Deadly Mistake by Rob Sinclair is a thriller; a very violent thriller. If one didn’t know better they would assume that Simon Peake, the protagonist, is Superman. He is able to take on, and best, multiple bad guys at one time. At his core he is a good guy, but he has skills. If you love violence, this is the book for you. Often such violent books don’t have much story outside of the fighting scenes but that is not the case with Deadly Nights, which has several serious plot lines running through the fighting. Peake can sometimes be a fixer, or at least that is what Adam McGinty thought when he and two other men brought Peake a body to be disposed of. Poor Adam, would he ever grow up? Peake did not like these guys and when they started something, he finished it. He kept their $10,000. Then he discovered that the body was a woman, a still-alive woman. Being the man he is, he patched her up, buried the dead guys (in pieces), and lit the small house on fire. Where to next?
This story has layers of bad guys, all with their own thugs. Peake fought through a mass of them, drawing ever closer to the man who had instigated it all. As he fought, Lucia recovered. He heard her story; especially the part about her son, and kept fighting onward. Don’t love all the violence, but what shown through was a good man in a bad situation who had little or no impulse control. He was a good character with many surprising traits. He had a relationship with Adam’s sister, Jenn, that kept rising to the fore and kept the whole thing almost sane.
I was invited to read Deadly Mistake by Boldwood Books. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #BoldwoodBooks #RobSinclair #DeadlyMistake
This is the second in the Simon Peake series so, for full enjoyment wrt background and character development, I would recommend you read book one, Dead Reckoning, first. In this book, we catch up with Simon as he has relocated to a small rural town in Georgia. He is ticking along mostly nicely. Until, one night a car with three people in turns up to the farmhouse he is renting. He recognises one of them and, apparently it is he who has recommended to the other two that Simon is the man who can help with their dilemma. The have a body to get rid of... Things go south, which I will leave you to discover, but the main thing to come out of it all is that the "body" isn't a body at all. Well, she is a body but she isn't dead... And so begins another action packed romp which has Simon not knowing who to trust (again) or where to turn. It appears that there are layers, levels, of secrets, lies, cats, mice, and so much obfuscation that the author does incredible well to keep all the plates spinning all the way through, delivering shock after surprise until we race to a wholly satisfying conclusion. My only little niggle is that maybe, for me anyway, the action was a bit overwhelming at times. I don't mean the level of violence, although that is high, I mean that it overshadowed the story a bit too much for me. I almost forgot who was who and what was what and why we were fighting... But that said, it's a worthy addition to an already impressive back catalogue. Although, in my opinion, nothing will ever top his original Enemy series, beginning with Dance with the Enemy and featuring Carl Logan... My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Deadly Mistake by Rob Sinclair is a highly recommended action-packed thriller. This is the second book in the series featuring former special forces agent Simon Peake.
Peake is living in the country near a small town in Georgia when three men show up at his house offering him a bag full of cash to dispose of a body in the trunk of their car. The problem is two fold. He only knows one of the men and isn't thrilled that he brought strangers to his door to do this job. The second is that the woman in the trunk is not dead. Peake chooses to help the woman and eliminate the two strangers while the man he knows runs off. This decision sets into motion a series of violent, deadly encounters in the world of drug cartels, mob bosses, and rogue CIA operatives.
This is a well-written, fast-paced, action-packed thriller. The danger is palpable and ever present. The tension is high throughout the novel. There is also a whole lot of gruesome violence. I don't think I've read a novel before where so many bones are snapped/broken and joints are dislocated, among many other actions. I will perhaps skip any other books in this series because of the overwhelming violence. It does have an intricate plot and the violence is a natural outcome of the encounters rather than being gratuitous.
Deadly Mistake is a good choice for those who enjoy action-packed thrillers. Thanks to Boldwood Books for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.
Known for his gritty, no holds bared thrillers Rob Sinclair has with his new damaged hero Simon Peake, taken a leap into the dark and terrible goings on of a world most readers can only imagine in Deadly Mistake. When cartel fix-it men come knocking on Peake’s door to get help disposing of a body, he reluctantly agrees, after all the money will be useful and then they can go away and leave him to his hard-earned peace. But as it turns out the body is not dead, but alive, if only just and it is a woman who is smartly dressed. He immediately wonders what is going on and over the course of the next hour, two of the men who arrived are dead and the third, vanished without a trace! Peake makes the decision to try and save the woman and by doing so opens the door to his past once again in a far more challenging way than usual. He has inadvertently set of the inevitable hornets’ nest of Syndicates vying for top position in a very small playing field. As the woman slowly regains consciousness, she appears to have amnesia, but as Peake is slowly beginning to discover, something is just not right; who is she and what is she really trying to get him to do is something that will most certainly get him killed if he can’t work out who is the man pulling the strings and what does he really want. Bloody and bloodthirsty Deadly Mistake is perhaps one step too far in the gruesome stakes, but the plot line is solid, the characters leap up off the page and the heat from the desert regions of Gorgia where the novel is set is palpable. Not for the faint of heart at all but a good read.
A knock on the door in the middle of the night catches ex- Special Forces Simon Peake off guard. He only recognises one of the three men standing on the other side, and the "help" they need is to dispose of a dead body crumpled in the boot of their car. The problem is - the woman in the boot of the car isn't dead at all. In a matter of minutes, Peake makes a call to help and protect this stranger, but it a decision that will drag him back into the dark and dangerous world of drug cartels, mob bosses, and rogue CIA operatives who will stop at nothing to use Peake as a pawn in their game.
The pace is fast in this dark and action-packed read. Peake is a ruthless character and has the ability to over-power his victims. This is a violent read, so it won't suit the faint of heart. The tension builds throughout. There were a mixed bunch of characters. At times, I had to stop reading for a minute because of all the gore, but I still enjoyed the book.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #RobSinclair for my ARC of #DeadlyMistake in exchange for an honest review.
Deadly Mistake by Rob Sinclair is the second book in the Superb Simon Peake series and this book was a tense read,Full of action and full of great twists and turns throughout that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. I love the Simon Peake character, nothing will stop him once he has a job to do. . . . . .
Deadly Mistake starts off with a bang when Simon Peake is now in Georgia and is trying to lie low! Whilst he is sitting outside in the cool drinking a bottle of beer, he gets an alert informing him, he has visiter's. Three men arrive and Simon is offered ten grand, to dispose of a dead body crumpled in the trunk of their car. But, this is where all
Steve;'s problems start. . .. . . she isn’t dead!
But, who is she?
Why did they want her dead?
Steve now goes on a hunt for who she is, This is where the fun begins and the book becomes a book that is hard to put down, I could not turn the pages over quick enough to find out it Steve survives everything he encounters......
I highly recommend this series and I am looking forward to the next book within Simon Peake's series. 5⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Big thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my ARC.
This, the second book in the Simon Peake series, is as explosive and action-packed as the first from the very beginning.
Simon Peake is trying to lay low after the shenanigans that happened in the previous book however, trouble seems to find him no matter how hard he tries to avoid it and he is not one to let anything lie. Unfortunately, this only brings further strife to his door resulting in violent confrontations with plenty of nefarious characters.
This book is not for the faint-hearted; it’s full of action, graphic violence and multiple scenes of peril. It’s written at a fast pace with oodles of tension and is recommended to those of you who enjoy reading action/thrillers and I am looking forward to continuing to follow Simon Peake's trials and tribulations in the future.
Many thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of this, the second in this explosive series.
Deadly Mistake is a very good read full of thrills, suspense and plenty of action. It has a good start which piqued my interest and drew me quickly into the story. The writing is good and engaging and the story flows well. The plot is all to believeable, and Peake enters the world of drug cartels and shadowy Government agencies with others having their own agendas. He needs his wits about him, but who can he trust? Some of the scenes are very gory which I like, although this may not be for everyone. All in all a fast paced, thrilling read that certainly hit the mark for me. If you like books with action, thrills, characters you either root for or loathe then this is for you and I'd recommend it. Think you're best to read the previous book first though to know the main character from the start.
Simon Peake is not your average hero. He's called a cleaner. If you have a body, you want gone, then he's your man. But things go sour when he is brought the body of a woman to dispose of. One problem...she's not dead. Failing to do the job and killing two of the men who brought her to him, Peake finds himself on the wrong side of Lance Hardy, a scumbag who likes to feed people he doesn't like to his dogs. Then things really heat up.
Sinclair has written an action-packed story with the cental character Simon Peake, I think is more of an anti-hero than anything else. It was well written and overall entertaining enough to hold my attention. But be aware that this book has an element of violence and gore if you intend to read it. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this story.
Wow, another fantastic read from Rob Sinclair. This time Simon Peake is caught up in a situation in Georgia. Three men appear outside his door and he only recognises one of them. The following chaos that ensues sees him travel across to Florida via many, many situations which he is struggling to understand. This is very much in the genre of Reacher with plenty of excitement along the way. For someone with Simon Peake's skills, he is a very likeable rogue. You are rooting for him the whole way, thinking "Be careful". The characters are so well written that you either want them to make it to the end of the book in one piece or you want something bad to happen because they are so obnoxious. It feels like it is going to be a long wait for the next instalment, but very much looking forward to it. With thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I chose this novel expecting a fast, gritty action thriIller, and that’s exactly what I got. Just like book 1, I was hooked from the start. I received a copy from Boldwood Books via Netgalley.
From the first chapter, the pacing is relentless. Simon Peake, a former Special Forces operative trying to keep a low profile, is thrown back into chaos after a midnight encounter goes horribly wrong. What follows is a full-throttle ride through cartels, rogue agents, and betrayals that never seem to end.
What really worked for me was the intensity. The story barely lets you breathe, and Peake himself is a fascinating mix of lethal skill and quiet regret. The Georgia small-town setting adds a chilling backdrop for this book, grounding the mayhem in something a little more personal.
Hopefully, there will be lots more books in this series!
I read and enjoyed the first in this series . This one was similar, lots of violence , shooting and a maverick character with a shady past in a small town somewhere in the deep South of America. As the book starts, Simon is paid to dispose of a body, only she is not dead. He cares for her, not knowing who she is . Plenty of people are looking for her though and Peake gets into a lot of trouble. The writing is punchy, graphic and descriptions of place and feelings good. Lots of fighting and bloodshed, but there is also information about Simon's past which adds to his personal story and makes him more human. The fight scenes are maybe a little over the top, Simon seems to be able to come out on top even when the odds are stacked against him. But it does make for interesting and engaging reading . Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC
Ex Special Forces Simon Peake tries to ignore the knock on his door, but his curiosity wins. Someone who considers Simon a friend asks for his help in disposing of a body. The only problem is that the woman isn't dead. Simon tries to help her, though he has no idea who she is or who wanted her dead. And, unfortunately, to help her, he has to add to the body count.
I read about a third of this book and it was way too violent for me to find enjoyable. The plot was intriguing, so I skipped to the last few chapters to see how it all ended. This would likely make a great action movie, but it wasn't my cup of tea.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Y’all! Deadly Mistake kicks off with a midnight knock, three men, and a trunk holding a not-so-dead woman. From there it’s bullets, mob bosses, drug cartels, and CIA suits who don’t play nice. ⚠️🩸
Simon Peake? Haunted, lethal, and way too human to ignore. Rob Sinclair writes like a live wire—tense, sharp, and cinematic. You’ll hear the gunfire, taste the danger, and feel the chaos. 💥
Why 4 stars? Sometimes the heart got lost in the crossfire. But honestly? If gritty, high-octane thrillers are your jam, this one’s a ride.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Explosive, dark, and seriously addictive.
Thank you to Boldwood Books for providing this review copy via #NetGalley for my honest, voluntary review #DeadlyMistake
After leaving New York Simon Peake has made his way down to Georgia to lie low for a while and stay out of trouble. But trouble has a way of finding Simon…….
This has action from the start, and it never stops. Simon is offered ten grand to get rid of a dead body but the problem is, she isn’t dead! So, Simon has to help her and that’s how his troubles began. Things would be so much simpler if people didn’t keep shooting at him and lying to him . I read the first Simon Peake book, and the character didn’t really gel for me, but this book was so much better as Simon became more alive as a person and getting more on his back story gave more insight into his actions.
Thanks to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for an ARC for my honest review.
Peek is now living out in a cabin in the forest, and there is a knock on his door. Not expecting anyone, it takes him many minutes to open the door. The one person of the three he knows is the brother of the woman he is seeing. It does not end well for the other two, and you get to see all of the skills that Peek has, for the woman whom the three thought was dead is alive. This book really takes you for a ride with plenty of action and a storyline that has you wanting to get to the end to see how it all really began. Excellent characters, along with a well-thought-out storyline to keep us, the readers, hooked to the book from start to end.
Well this was my kind of book straight from the start I was hooked. I haven’t read the first book I’m not sure if it impacted on this read, I didn’t feel it did but I now want to read anything that contains Simon Peake. I loved how fast paced this book was, so full of action and tension, was there brutal violence, yes but I wouldn’t expect anything less with dealing with CIA cartel and so many bad guys. It was clear Peake was trying to stay below the radar but that didn’t last, I loved it I think Jack Reacher may have met his match in Simon Peake, such a great read and I’m desperately awaiting further instalments.
Another fabulous Simon Peake adventure. Simon is living a low key, very laid back existence out west, when a friend shows up at his door in the middle of the night with two thugs, begging a favor that comes with a large cash payment. It seems they have a body to dispose of and Simon's young friend, Adam, has convinced them that Simon is the guy to handle it. And off the story goes in to another riveting and suspense filled Sinclair five star read. Non stop action, intrigue, and incredibly interesting characters fill the story as the plot unwinds. Great story. Great characters. Simon Peake is a winner and Rob Sinclair has grabbed the golden ring again. Next please.
Thanks @netgalley,the author @robsinclairauthor and the publishers @theboldbookclub for the ARC.
This is the 2nd book in the Simon Peake series and it certainly didn't disappoint! We meet Somon trying to keep a low profile in a small American town till trouble comes knocking on his door! It was full of twists and turns throughout and a bit gruesome at times, but it was good to delve a little bit more into Simon's character! If you enjoy espionage/thriller/special forces type genres I'd definitely recommend anyone giving any of Rob Sinclair's books a go!
This is book 2 in the Simon Peake series however it reads well as a standalone. Former special forces member, Peake has moved on from New York and is now living in a quiet backwater in Georgia. He does not have to look far for trouble as it finds him and turns his life upside down. This is a fast and full action book which will leave you breathless. Once again Peake is drawn into a life of violence and corruption as he tries to do the decent thing in saving a mysterious woman. A gripping thriller from start to finish.
Extreme! Peake is like Reacher on steroids! There was so much detail in this crime thriller, twists and turns! The family aspect with Jenn and her brother and the family history and gangstas was so intertwined, it was great to read! The torture scenes were a lot! So gory, especially when they were characters that you liked! The added addition of a body to hide that isn’t a body.. and the twists. It had you invested until the end!
I tried not to do any spoilers there’s so many bits that will surprise you!
This book was a lot. It’s gritty and gripping, tense and explosive. There is no slow start, the action starts in the first chapter and continues at a pace through the story. In places this book is graphic and brutal. I don’t do well with gore and if the was a TV show I would be either looking away at times or covering my face with a cushion unto@it went away. You don’t have that luxury with the written word. It’s laid bare in front of you and no matter how uncomfortable it makes you, you have to stick it out. A rollercoaster of a read
