Ander and Liam are back! They decide to head to a ski lodge to see if the old lady who used to work there could give them some answers about Anders' dad and the crystal he wears. Only when they get there, they realise its closed down for a private New Years event. Having just been in a car accident, they are invited in by the owners and realise that the private event is for the cast of the hit sitcom Neighbors. Anders and Liam are determined to make the most of their time together, hoping to take their relationship to the next level. And after everything that's already happened, they're hoping there will be no death and terror. But then, Anders' necklace starts glowing...

Ahhh, I could cry. First off, Anders and Liam are just the cutest. And I swear, if anything happens to Liam, I will riot.
Just like with the first two books, this one was everything you need in a slasher. And I absolutely love the fact that each one is a different setting, coming away a little from the usual slasher settings. As always, this was well-written, fast-paced, filled with tension and of course, the death scenes were *chef's kiss*. I can't wait for book four, so Matthew, get those fingers typing, sir!

firstly, I'd like to give a big thanks to the wonderful Matt corr for an arc of this book in return for an honest review 🤠

Holy crap, this might just be my favourite book in the slasherverse, the horror aspect of this series just got a whole lot crazier, I felt the the gore and violence was more intense than before which made the story more captivating!

the plot of this book kicks off brilliantly, super fast-paced and thrilling throughout the whole story! there were non-stop twists and turns in this one, I genuinely didn't know what was going to happen next!

we get to see more of ander and Liam romance, which was very cute!!

the crystals all being connected together is a very interesting idea, and I can't wait to see what happens next with that!

overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! it was well written, fast-paced, and a blast to read!

I’ve really been enjoying the Slasherverse series, especially Ander and Liam, and this ended up being my favorite book so far! The story was entertaining, fast paced and dark. It was definitely the goriest book in the series so far and has some creative kills. I liked the setting, the characters and the overall storyline. This was a solid and fun slasher read.
If you enjoy slashers then this is a series worth checking out!!

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

The static snow roared until he couldn’t take it anymore and bolted from the room, desperate to escape the nightmare he’d just unleashed.

Static Snow
brings us back to the Slasherverse series by Matthew R Corr. If you're a fan of Queer YA horrors then you need to jump on this series.

Another nail biting saga for our series lead character Anders. Anders and his boyfriend Liam are looking for answer to the origin of his cursed necklace. This bring them to a remote cabin lodge in the middle of no where during a snow storm. At least they will be ringing in the New Year with the cast of Liam's favorite sitcom. However once again a violent spirit gets released and no one is safe from his wrath.

Ya'll the gore continues to build in this one and I loved every minute of it. This villain is a fan of torture and there is one scene with a potato peeler that made me cringe in a good way lol Also Corr had me quite worried for Liam at one point and I was about to riot !

Ander and Liam continue to be adorable together and layered characters. Liam has body insecurities and Ander does his best to show him how beautiful he is. Among all the horror, our couple gets to spend a some quality alone time together and experience a few first times.

Overall, Static Snow by Matthew Corr is a solid Queer YA Horror set in an isolated ski lodge with a violent spirit on the loose, ALL the gore, some sweet relationship progress, snow ball fights, first times, and I can't wait for the next installment !

WELCOME BACK TO THE SLASHERVERSE!

Ander and Liam return to the page in this latest entry of the Slasherverse! Traversing to the Knotty Oak Ski Lodge to determine the answers behind the mysterious crystals and his family's past, Ander is trying to catch a break and spend some time with his boyfriend. Unfortunately, the murderous spirits from beyond continue to pop up and cause him problems. Matthew Corr knows how to craft a deviously disturbing story, and the trauma that Ander and Liam face is written so well that I will keep coming back to this series.

Matthew Corr continually ups the stakes in this series. This time by holding hostage the case of Neighbors (a fun "Friends" inspired cast), and if you were ever curious how each of them would die, which would survive, and which would try to escape via a private helicopter, well, this will absolutely answer all of those questions. This brought a fun humor and familiarity to this story that made it fun to read!

This book is best enjoyed by reading the first two books in the series, but if you're a fan of Scream 3 or Friends, then this is the book for you!

Even when I request an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I know I will always pick up whatever Matt writes because he is one of my favorite indie horror authors! “Static Snow” is the third book in his Slasherverse series, which follows Final Boy Ander Thorne and his attempts to piece together the mystery surrounding his crystal necklace and survive the vengeful spirits that it can summon back from the dead. I devoured this book in 3 days’ time, and I’m literally still gutted by the gruesome murders, vicious fight scenes, and heartfelt interactions between our cast of characters. I will forever have the scene that made me audibly shout “HOLY S***!” imprinted in my mind for years to come. These books always tug at my heartstrings and spike my blood pressure, but they are truly the best kind of horror ride you can ever hope to get on. I am so proud of Matt and cannot wait to see where this series goes!

I have been hooked on this seires sine the very beginning.Learning the mystery of anders abilities and his necklack has been amazing. I haven't been able to stop reading. The kills are well done and sometimes not what you expect, keeping you on your toes. Also, watching the relationship between ander and liam blosom has been so cute. They really balance each other out. cannot wait for the fiurth book.

This is the 3rd book in the series and honestly my favorite for alot of different reasons
First Ander and Liam’s relationship has progressed so much since the first book and it’s one of the best parts of these books!
Secondly this one felt gorier and I’m here for it! This universe has its gore filled moments but this one has more of those moments and as a fan of horror it hits allll the right spots! I can’t wait to see what else this universe delivers!

I was so happy to be back with Ander and Liam!

This started out really strong and we got some answers to questions from the previous book and more questions surrounding the mystery of it all... however it quickly became a quick slash/kill fest, feeling very formulaic and very similar to the other two books. The first book in the series was definitely the strongest, the second was a bit weaker but I still enjoyed it (especially the cast) but in this one? I only really cared about Noah and his mum and quickly lost interest once the killer appeared. Especially as Liam keeps surviving things that have killed other characters over and over again, boy has that final girl energy about him.

I also thought the lines between a supernatural being and a human were blurred... why tie anyone up during the final confrontation and not just kill them? It's powerful enough to. Just doesn't make sense to me.

This book is also short and while I devoured the first 60% I really felt like the last 40% DRAGGED.

I have to admit, I found the Friends/Friends Cast references (Neighbours in this) quite cute and comedic but it quickly became and felt tasteless, especially with Terry's death quite obviously referencing Matthew Perry's? It's very obvious that Neighbours is this world's version of Friends and the drug overdose death storyline just didn't quite sit right with me.

Overall, a decent read and I will likely read the next, but a bit formulaic and with some tasteless references.

This was a spectacular effort that comes together incredibly well. That this features one of the strongest storylines in the series, as long as the initial goofiness of the pair ending up at the ski lodge isn't off-putting with the two getting into a car accident on the way there and being stranded during a snowstorm coming off as somewhat cliche, but past that this is quite fun. The rest of the story involving them getting to hang out for a special New Years' Eve celebration at the location which is being hosted as a secret gathering for a beloved sitcom cast that they share a special connection with gives this the typically heartwarming beginning to everything with everyone getting together, meeting the few staff left to care for everyone, and the special treatment that exists with them and the cast that develops during their stay. The series of secrets and personal history that comes to the forefront is littered with dozens of hidden references and in-jokes that keep it light, even with the horrific allegations being levied against each other that should've turned them into unlikable irritants that they could've easily turned into.

Moreover, the continuation of several series-long themes is brought up, which makes for a closely tied connection to the previous books. There's far more depth and emotional resonance between the two leads as they explore the physical boundaries in their relationship, continuing on from meeting together in the first one and having their first kiss in the second. Now a full-blown couple and looking to go further despite some reluctance and hesitation, the implications of their status now, after making the steps they have here, make for a great throughline that makes them even more relatable and fun to follow along. There's also quite a bit of depth explored into the use of the crystal necklace and what some of its characteristics are about, giving this some great extra context involving the glowing properties it exhibits whenever something dangerous is about to happen, or the meaning behind the different colors. The hints at upcoming information to be revealed about how it connects them together over time is a strong hint at what the future might entail is a great way to bring that about as well.

There's also the great condition of continuing the series' stellar and standout series of slashing elements. The killer's backstory and appearance make for a striking impression once he gets involved in the story, as once again it takes a while going through the arrival at the lodge and meeting up with the cast going through their reunion there, but the killer is still imposing and quite impressive in his dispatch methods. The sense of brutality and sheer inhuman cruelty displayed here is immensely enjoyable to imagine playing out with the carnage featured here, involving some getting their skin melted off in a furnace, being frozen solid and shattered against hard flooring, impaled with ice spears ripping through multiple parts of the body, and hacked up with a hatchet among others. As there's even a full-on torture sequence leaving the body in pieces, there's a lot of bloodshed that comes about here through the constant action in the second half to make everything feel far more intense with the rapid-fire pace. It's just the one issue here involving the slow build-up that the rest of the series employs that keeps it down overall.

Matthew R. Corr is evil! the potato peeler! I will never be the same!

Matthew R. Corr has a twisted mind, and I love it! I have just finished “Static Snow” which is the third book in the Slasherverse. I’ve enjoyed all these books - I too am a bit twisted - and this book continued this high octane horror series.

Ander and Liam are back in this instalment, they are on a mission to travel to a secluded ski lodge in Minnesota. They’re still on the hunt for answers about what has been happening to them. What secrets does Ander’s necklace hold? Why didn’t Ander’s father speak to him about their family’s supernatural history?

Once the boys arrive at the lodge, the cast of characters grows. A group of actors is there, reuniting and airing the good times and the bad. The folks who run the lodge, including their son, Noah and his hyper focus on crime scene investigations and all things macabre.

And then…the baddie arrives. Ander and Liam have unwillingly become involved in a mystery that they have to solve if they want to live. Twice now they have barely managed to survive terrifying paranormal beings!

Now! It’s snowing and cold, and they’re trapped in a mostly deserted lodge and facing another epic evil!

This book is not for those of you who may be squeamish. Matthew has outdone himself this time… the story ratchets up until the final quarter had me ready to start spreading a salt circle around myself while I was reading! I was truly wondering what the hell was going to happen - and things just kept getting worse! But, in that twisted enjoyable way when I don’t want to put the book down even though I’m almost reading it with one eye closed.

This is an entertaining series, full of twists and turns and each book seems to get more horror-y! That’s honestly the best way to describe it!

And let’s not forget about Ander and Liam. In the midst of all the blood splatter and horrifying visuals…there is an adorable relationship that continues to progress.

This book is the best of both worlds. A great, healthy queer relationship that isn’t the whole plot in the midst of absolutely engaging horror! Love it!

Beware the potato peeler!

Liam and Ander are back! After extensive research, Liam finally found a reference to the crystal necklace that Ander wears. He father mentioned a woman that owns a ski lodge in Minnesota had a particular interest in it. That comment leads the boys to Crescent, Minnesota, and the only ski lodge therein - Knotty Oak Ski Lodge. Unable to make reservations there, the boys rent a room at a local motel then drive toward the lodge hoping to pop in and find the woman. En route, a large buck forces them into a ditch, and the boys end up walking the rest of the way to the lodge. Liam and Ander are welcomed in only to find the entire cast of Liam's favorite tv show, Neighbors, hanging out in the great room. Apparently, they rent the entire establishment every New Years to celebrate alone. After being shown their room, the boys meet Granny, the woman who spoke with Ander's father all those years ago. They get a bit of info out of her, but due to her old age, they don't get much, and none of it makes sense.

Unfortunately, Ander begins hearing whispers in the lobby, the ones who accompany yet another vacation-gone-wrong. This time it is a golden statue that brings back Terry, the Neighbors cast member who overdosed the year before. And as before, Terry is pissed.

Despite the fact that the temp here in the 90s with 10,000% humidity here (or perhaps because of it...?), I loved the snowy atmosphere of the lodge. And there is nothing like a major snowstorm to isolate an already rural location, is there? And the kills...the deceased that is terrorizing his friends and the other inhabitants of the hotel was into torture porn so the scenes were very creative and disturbing. (Absolutely LOVED the Joel....situation. Very reminiscent of the 2006 Black Christmas scene. A+ just for that!) As usual, Ander and Liam make it out, but this time it isn't quite in one piece. Yikes, that was hard to read.

So if you have a sensitive stomach, just go grab your romantasy novel and sit this one out. Otherwise, my fellow sickos, grab this book and enjoy!

so, Liam and Ander have survived the underwater oasis and have put together some pieces of the mystery of the stone pendants. But, not enough to make sense. One clue they found is a woman at an old ski lodge in a remote part of Minnesota who had a reaction when she saw Ander's father wearing it. So, off they go ... in a blizzard ... to Knotty Oak Ski Lodge.

They join a group of stars from a weekly t.v. show who go there every year for a mental health break. Shutting down the entire lodge while they are there. Snow falling ... logs crackling in the fireplace. Chef is amazing. Good food. Good people. Good times. Uh no.

The woman is now bedridden and surrounded by thousands of crystals in her bedroom. When the kids sneak in to talk to her and try to get some answers ... well ... what they get i more mystery ... and then she dies.

What follows is more death ... more terror ... even outsiders of the Lodge are getting killed (that's a new twist). Another corporeal entity bent on revenge on everyone. This time, Liam gets badly hurt. Will he survive? This entity was a former cast member of the show AND the husband of one of the actors ... so a 'known' is a bit of a twist. Can he be reasoned with in his hellbent urge to torture, main, kill? Is his wife safe from him? Turns out ... in life this man had secrets. Several of the 'guests' had secrets and we're finding them all out.

Matthew Corr has done it again with Static in the Snow. I've so enjoyed this series but, honestly, I don't know if my heart .. or my LIFE ... can take what might happen in the next book. I will overthink staying in a Lodge in the middle of nowhere during a blizzard without a working car in the future.

100% a must read!

Matthew Corr is taking us on a wild ... death-filled ... adventure in this series that surrounds a mystery ... involving his death father ... a crystal pendant that seems to attract corporeal entities bent on hellish revenge and pop in a cute little love story as a side note.

Y'all have got to read these books!!!

Thank you Matthew Corr for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. I love the Slasherverse and they just keep getting darker! Ander and Liam are continuing their search as to why these crystals keep bringing killers into their lives. Following a clue that Ander’s father mentioned about an older woman who wanted to buy his crystal. They travel to a ski lodge in Minnesota, where unbeknownst to them the cast of Liam’s favorite show Neighbors gathers every New Year’s Eve. Shortly after they arrive a storm comes in and knocks out the WiFi and phone system. Things get worse when Ander begins to hear familiar whispers. They decide things should be fine if he doesn’t follow the whispers. This should be easy as they’re getting all the behind the scenes information and drama of Neighbors. This year is bittersweet for the cast as they are getting to see each other but this year it’s without cast member Terry as he passed away the year before. Ander and Liam get to search for answers, build on their relationship, and spend time with celebrities. But their luck runs out and they once again find themselves stalked by a killer. The night turns bloody and they’ll have to fight to stay alive. Can they find answers? And who will survive the night? This one is more gruesome then the others! The backstory is darker as well which added to the intrigue! I cannot wait to see how all the crystals go together and what darkness is waiting for Ander. Exciting, thrilling, gory, and had me hooked! I’m excited for the next Slasherverse adventure!

Thank you Matthew R Corr for this read!

This is the third instalment in the Slasherverse series and it was another fun read. I found that this book was the least favourite out of the 3, however still a fun and gory read.

I loved the snowy and isolated location for the setting, the feature of "friends inspired" cast being St the cabin and the hunt for more truth behind the necklaces. I found that I wanted this book to go further into the history of the stones and really get to the nitty gritty of the whole series. I also found that it was a bit of an overkill in some areas - where it just blurred what i imagine realistic paranormal spirits would possibly do (ie scene where the characters are tied up). I think it lost some of the creepiness by adding this.

But I loved the chemistry between the characters, their strength and how action packed the book was.

Overall a fun read, despite it not being my fav of the series and I am dying to read the fourth asap!

After surviving the underwater events of The Oasis, Ander and Liam find themselves on a quest to learn more about the crystal necklace and the weird...circumstances that surround it every time it starts to glow. This leads them to the Knotty Oak Ski Lodge, in the middle of a blizard, and accidentally crashing an exclusive NYE getaway from the members of a hit 90s sitcom...of which Liam is a pretty big fan.

But once again, the necklace comes alive and another monster comes crashing through the door-this one extremely close to the hearts of the celebrity guests inside the lodge. As Ander and Liam fight to survive, and to keep their new F-R-I-E-N-D-S alive, they start to realize more and more connections between their last two run ins with monsters, Ander's dad, and the crystals as a whole. Another night, another monster, another bloody chance that they won't survive the night...

Another Matthew Corr masterpiece. I swear to God they get better every single book. You can 100% tell that Corr is finding his voice and his rhythm with this series with how much more gory, scary, and just plain GOOD each book is-one after the other. This series is one of my absolute favorites with a unique premise that is becoming more and more fleshed out as we learn more and more about the lore and backstory.

If you like the sitcom "Friends" but also never want to look at a potato peeler the same way again, this is 100% the book for you.

The setting was written so well, it gave a cozy winter vibe especially at the beginning before the darker side of the plot set in.

It was also nice to see more of Ander and Liam, their relationship is so lovely. Seeing them have their own insecurities made them feel realistic. Both characters had good depth and even the side characters did as well. The plot was absolutely wild, there was so much drama with a side of murder. There wasn’t a dull moment at all.

Static Snow is the third book in the Slasherverse series and this time Ander and Liam end up at a ski lodge which is a remote Minnesota resort. They are looking for answers about Ander's crystal necklace, but the catch is they end up getting stuck there when a blizzard comes. It only gets worse when a vengeful spirit is wrecking havoc inside. Want to find out what happens and who ends up surviving the night then make sure to read this one. The author did a good job writing this one and all of the characters in this were interesting. I enjoyed the setting of this book and I am looking forward to the next one in the series. This was better than book 2.

Following Ander and Liam as they continue to investigate the mystery of Ander's crystal, they find themselves trapped in a ski lodge during a blizzard, looking for answers from the past, when the crystal erupts once again to cause havoc and murder.

This book felt better than book 2. The story felt a little meatier and the over all arc of the story is starting to take shape.

The characters, as ever, were excellent. Ander and Liam are so endearing and while they're young, they don't have that "high school immediacy" feel in their relationship.

I had a good time with this and am looking forward to the next book in the series. There's supposed to be a train and I'm excited to see how it plays out.

I will always support queer writers and this series should come as an added bonus because I love slashers…but with that said, I’m gonna be real here, this book is actually terrible.

This series is for all intents and purposes the same book recycled over and over, with diminishing returns- except in this one, the author exploits the death of Matthew Perry for an extra layer of ick.

Will I read the next one? Probably yeah, because I never learn my lesson…but the layers of plot armor around Ander and Liam coupled with the repetitiveness of the plots has gotten really stale and it’s only book 3.

This is a 1.5 but I rounded it up to 2 stars because I felt like a dick giving it a 1 (even though the Matthew Perry thing is incredibly tacky).

I don't think I'll ever be able to peel vegetables in peace ever again. The only reason that my rating of this one is lower is because this book centers around a cast of characters that is pretty much the cast of Friends, and I've never watched any of the show nor do I have any attachment to it. That being said, I have praised Corr before for creating compelling casts that I am able to easily root for. Aside from Ander and Liam, of course, no one really stuck out to me. That being said, the relationship progression of the boys in this book was great. I can't wait for book four in December!

If you like the sitcom "Friends", and savor cold horror books with blizzards, then I highly recommend "Static Snow." There's an Agatha Christie whodunit feel when readers first enter the Knotty Oak Ski Lodge in Crescent, Minnesota, but things quickly transition into a plot involving intense violence and death. I haven't read the second entry with the Slasherverse series, but there were plenty of "Camp 1985" tie-ins to keep me updated. Marketed as YA, but not too naive.

Kindle Unlimited. Let’s go. Yes, the reviews of this series are the exact same; I’m lazy and my thoughts are usually relatively the same.

The cover is epic and it gives off campy vibes. And guess what? It was, in fact, a campy slasher novel. It wasn’t worthwhile but it was fun to read. A bit of a slow start, though, but it made up for it pretty quickly.

Started off strong but then devolved into the same tropes as the last 2 books. I’m also not a fan of torture porn and thought the author using a twisted version of Matthew Perry’s death was insensitive. Hoping things rebound in the next book and that the author changes things up a bit.
