Book 2 of The Dragon Bone Hill Trilogy

Injured and ill, Dragon Bone Hill opens with Titus Pym staggering back to the Beluga Fay, only to be warned off. Lander has taken control of the Fay and Governor Henry Salazar is looking for him, because of the slaughter at East Gate.

With the Sweating Sickness ravaging the southern districts; with the government wanting him dead or alive; with Lander wanting him dead; with his injuries and fever driving Pym into an hallucinatory state he believes only the northern districts might offer him refuge—if but temporarily.

Through a series of misadventures, Titus finds himself in the last place he wanted to be—Dragon Bone Hill. Rescued, from an almost certain death, he is nursed back to health by Dian and Putri Gomez.

Titus had saved their lives in Beluga Fay by leaving the storeroom of food, they had discovered, to the women. Now, Dian and Putri have returned the favor—though hoping for more.

Healthy, again, Titus is learning Dragon Bone Hill is much more complex than Glenna, or any in the city, had led him to suspect.

As an apocalyptic fan who read the first book, I had high hopes for the second book in the trilogy. My expectations were met! Being chased and sought out by many wishing to kill him, Titus Pym decides to enter a diseased, starved, and violence-ridden city for protection. However, soon after, Titus himself catches the Sweating Sickness and is near death. But thankfully, Dian and Putri Gomez, a daughter and mother living amongst the Remedios, save his life. This puts Titus and the women on equal terms as Titus previously saved them by donating the food storage room. After becoming well again, Titus becomes the leader of the Remedios, defends them from attacks, and must make tough decisions in order to survive in a very unsafe world. The novel is very strong in terms of its fast-moving, action-oriented plot, as well as its character development that leads well into the finale of the series. In addition, Titus Pym is a likable and charismatic leader who understands the complexities of decision-making. This is a must-read for fans of the series!

Dragon Bone Hill was a book that exceeded my expectations for dystopian literature. I read a lot in this genre and this is an example of a well-developed world filled with characters that have room to change and grow. The storyline is compelling with multiple threats to the main character those he becomes responsible for.

This is a dark, gritty story that constantly features the difficult and desperate choices the characters must make in order to survive forcing them to compromise their morality of the moment to form a uneasy alliance with factions they don't trust in order to survive.

While there is some good action in the book, it remains a book about the characters and their relationships which is what it needs to be.

I LOVED this. The author’s ability to stir curiosity and shock your imagination into working overtime is just incredible. I read most of this in one sitting, pausing momentarily to blink. I relish a good book but a great one is rarely expected. I will be reading more of Wellhauser’s works for sure.

The world within these pages seems to be very much alive and being as its fast-paced, I really lost myself reading this.

I think it’s the suspense and excitement that the author conjures up that makes this so nice to read, add that to his descriptive and imaginative writing style and it’s no wonder this book is so awesome.

Truly awesome read!!

A really amazing sequel which has drawn me in from the start and takes the reader on an incredible journey that follows the man called Titus Pym. The storyline is very well written and I loved the atmosphere and the background of a destroyed world in ruins. At all times very fast paced and exciting, this is a book that does not disappoint and feels like a really deserving sequel to the trilogy. Well worth the read.

This was a very refreshing and fun fantasy adventure book, I was hooked right from the beginning. The characters are very strong and masterfully developed, and Titus really carried the plot forward. The whirlwinds of the story are unforgettable and I enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the realm and the setting of the story. Very good book, highly recommended.
