how it ends i used to think heartbreak was the end of the story but now i know losing someone you thought was your person is how you find the parts of yourself you kept tucking away to make it work it doesn't happen all at once but one day you stop hoping they'll come back and start wondering why you ever left yourself behind so here's everything i learned in the aftermath
Sophie Eve's poems hold the moments after love has broken. The cold of a silent phone, an empty bed, a toothbrush left behind, missing someone who isn't coming back.
It's like trying to find a way through a fog as we search for who we are without them.
Healing begins in small ways, but it does happen. You start remembering things that make you feel alive, suddenly finding strength where you thought you had none left.
By listening to your pain, you'll uncover the lost pieces, find yourself, and feel whole again.
Healing From You is a story told in poems, for anyone trying to piece themselves back together, even if you’ve felt stuck for so long you’ve started to wonder if healing is really possible.
While the “you” in this book differs for me and the author, this book broke me, then healed me. The poems in this book are gentle whispers reminding me that it wasn’t my fault he left, and even though there are 1000 unanswered questions in the wake of his absence, I have permission to heal, and find freedom, and step into a new chapter where he isn’t writing my story. Healing from narcissistic abuse is one of the hardest chapters of my story yet, but Sophie’s words cradled my wounds, tended to my bruises, and let the light in again. This isn’t just poetry, this isn’t just a book, this is the permission I didn’t know I needed, this is healing, this is what it feels like to be SEEN.
Absolutely loved this poetry book! It evoked so many emotions that I was desperate to feel but had felt frozen. I cried, and I felt seen, heard, and validated. I had so many personal insights, and my nervous system reacted in the most healing way possible as if I went through the same process alongside the author, connected to mine. You read it, you feel it, you grieve, and you heal. That’s what poetry does, and this book is exceptional in that way. The process was gradual, gentle, and caring. It’s as if the author was holding my hand, saying, "I know it hurts. Don’t run away. Stay with me. We’ll get through this." Every detail of this transformative journey is handled with such attentiveness, loving-kindness, and acceptance of what is, while never giving up on living. It’s inspirational, comforting, and therapeutic. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt heartbreak (not necessarily a romantic one, because we get hurt badly in many types of relationships, and the wounds are wounds all the same). I want to thank the author for sharing her journey with such vulnerability, honesty, and empathy toward herself and other women who are struggling to recover from trauma caused by unhealthy communication. Thank you for helping me feel my long-buried pain. Thank you for holding my hand. Thank you for helping me feel and cry my eyes out. I would love to see this book take off on a beautiful journey so it can reach millions of broken hearts and help them recover.
Healing From You is a powerfully raw poetry collection that delves into the emotional aftermath of heartbreak, trauma and the slow, unglamorous journey of self‑rebirth. Through intimate and unfiltered verse, Sophie Eve captures those moments of lingering doubt—the silent rooms, the replaying of conversations, the stinging reminders that you once loved someone all the way. The poems don’t claim to offer solutions; instead, they bear witness to what healing truly feels like: quiet, painful and transformative. This collection resonates deeply. The emotional honesty is compelling, and the structure mirrors how real grief unfolds—fragmented, often contradictory. While some parts feel repetitive in tone, the overall experience is cathartic and sincere. At its heart, Healing From You provides comfort to anyone still learning how to trust themselves after betrayal or emotional damage. It offers a raw and poignant exploration of heartbreak and rebuilding. Its strength is in vulnerability and emotional honesty rather than polished poetic technique. This is real, brave, and incredibly human. Content Warnings: - Heartache and grief - Emotional trauma - Dependency, guilt and overthinking - Manipulation/ unbalanced love dynamics
This was a brilliant poetry book showing how a relationship can wear you down and lead you to reclaiming yourself, changed but stronger in relearning who you are and what you don't want in a relationship in future.
The good morning texts, was a poem about even through messages being able to decode their feelings, also how songs shared and clothing you borrowed is tainted them in memory.
Long sleeves, was an honest look at physical abuse and the physical impact lingering as a harsh reminder of enduring pain making this collection about survival through an abusive relationship where they play mind games with you making you doubt and lose yourself even more hard hitting in it's impact as there's nothing held back and to me this book, is a reclamation of one's self in finding the strength and courage to walk away and heal, despite it being tough, I hope many others out there read this collection and can find the courage to do so to if they're affected by similar issues in their lives.
Sophie Eve's "Healing from You" is a truly heartfelt collection that profoundly resonates with the arduous journey of moving on. Her poems delicately explore the nuances of letting go and the process of rediscovering oneself after a significant change. The writing is beautifully straightforward yet evocative, capturing relatable emotions without ever becoming overly sentimental. Reading this provided me with a genuine sense of companionship and solace during a tough time. It's comforting and highly accessible. If you are seeking understanding and support during an emotional transition, I highly recommend this thoughtful and powerful book.
I loved this. It was moving and upsetting and painful, but also transformative and beautiful.
And I connected with it as I think so many women would.
We've all had our bad experiences.
I love poetry for this reason.
You see things the way you see them even if it isn't the way the author wrote it. But it forms connections to the same or similar things you've gone through.
These were also raw and open and I loved seeing that and feeling what the poems talked about and alluded to. It was beautiful.
I’ve always loved poetry, and Sophie’s poems truly stood out. They’re raw, honest, and beautifully capture the pain of a toxic relationship and the grief that comes with walking away. It’s so easy to convince yourself—and others—that everything’s fine, even when it’s not. Sophie writes openly about being gaslighted, losing her sense of self, and the journey of finding her worth again. It’s heartfelt and incredibly relatable.
It’s almost like Sophie had a window into my life the past 13 years. The relationship she speaks of, the month after the break up, and then the healing. There were so many phrases in poems, or just complete poems in this book, that brought me to tears because it was so realistic to what I have lived through.
There are plenty of poems here, and they’re certainly well-crafted and thoughtfully mixed to reflect a wide range of life and love experiences. This poetry collection has a soft vibe that lingers. The simple form and language let the emotions shine through. Some poems really struck a chord, while others felt a bit forgettable. A thoughtful read.
Just WOW!! I didn't expect the depth, the honesty, the journey I was about to go on when I opened this book. If you are hurting because your partner hurts you, READ THESE POEMS! If you just love really good writing, you will absolutely love this.
