It is a weird book that I remember from primary school. We read the story 'A Cup of Coffee' in class, and to this day I remember its last sentence: "The heart is a just judge and never oversees trifles."
After having read it not, at 54, the pieces of the mosaic fell into place - it's a full portrait of his childhood, youth, overall life, his next of kin, especially mother, his home country. But much more than that - he breathes and lives within these words, his pulse is strong, he is alive, unenviable, confused, but strongly emotional, deeply nostalgic. Reading it was a similar experience to me, pressed so many of my buttons. Not sure I enjoyed the emotions it evoked, but certain that those emotions were intense and true.

Yk I'm only giving it a bad review bc it was so hard to understand that I barely remember anything. It's kinda okay in the parts that I did understand though.

It gets better. As boring as it starts, it ends interesting and sad when he talks about how his mother died.

It isn't the best, but I don't regret reading it (even if I had to read it for school).
