The unforgettable conclusion of International bestselling author Maggie Cole's highly-received secret society, drenched in dark undertones, next-generation Mafia series about frenemies entering a fake marriage to climb to the top of the Underworld.
When Brax became an intruder inside the Underworld, I shouldn't have let my attraction overrule my brain.
I should have killed him.
Now, our fake marriage is the only way I can claim my seat at the table.
He's arrogant, sinfully gorgeous, and infuriates me any chance he gets. We've been frenemies since day one, always circling, always striking, and never trusting the other.
Somehow, pretending to love him is easy. His filthy looks, starving kisses, and possessive touches keep making me forget the truth about our marriage.
But it's just a game we're playing for power. And I won't be weak. I won't fall for my husband.
Even if every touch makes me crave him.
Even if every lie tastes like truth.
Even if the only thing more dangerous than trusting him is the Omni trying to unravel our marriage.
Bride by Ritual is a standalone with interconnected characters, and book three of The Underworld series. This dark, secret society, Mafia, frenemies, fake marriage/marriage of convenience romance is not meant for the faint of heart. Expect violence, taboo, and graphic scenes.

Brax & Valentina.
He follows Sean straight into the Underworld and gets swallowed whole by brutal rituals, blood oaths, and an Omni who has Valentina marked for very specific cruelty. The premise? Dark. Twisted. Promising.
The execution? … uneven.
Let’s start with the heat. There’s plenty of it. But too often the sex felt like it was there because a dark romance requires a sex scene every X number of chapters, not because the emotional escalation demanded it. I don’t mind filth. I celebrate filth. But I want it earned. I want it wired into the power dynamic, the stakes, the psyche.
Instead, a few scenes read like: “Insert thrusting here.”
And I say that with love.
Now let’s talk about Blue.
We are given obsessive stalking. Escalation. Tension. Brax finally confronts her father. Her mother steps in and apologizes. And then ... radio silence. Around the 60% mark, Blue disappears from the story like she wandered off into a narrative black hole.
No consequences. No integration. No aftermath.
If you’re going to build that level of fixation and volatility, it needs to thread back into the spine of the book. Even a brief reckoning would have grounded it. Instead, it felt dropped. I later learned Blue gets her own book, which is fine, but unresolved tension inside this story still needs closure. Spin-offs expand. They shouldn’t patch.
There were also several moments where transitions felt rushed or skipped altogether. Characters would shift location or emotional state in the span of a sentence, and I had to double back to see if I missed a paragraph. It gave indie-published-without-guardrails energy. Not in a scrappy way. In a “this needed one more structural pass” way.
And yet.
I kept reading.
Because the Underworld concept has teeth. Because I wanted to see where Brax and Valentina landed. Because even when the writing felt disjointed, the bones of the world still had pull.
So here we are.
Did I love it? No. Did I finish it? Yes. Will I side-eye the next installment while pretending I’m above it? Also yes.
Thank you Maggie Cole for the ARC of Bride By Ritual! This is the third book in the Underworld Series and is connected to the Mafia Wars Universe. Valentina has grown up in this dark society and has fought for her seat at the table. Brax has found himself trapped in this society and is ready to fight for those he loves. Valentina and Brax end up in a fake marriage that doesn’t feel so fake. Their relationship from the start was so good. Their chemistry and the banter were top tier! The way this man pretended like he didn’t care but was obviously obsessed with his wife. And as strong and independent as Valentina is she found a safe place with Brax. There were also familiar faces so we highly recommend reading all of the previous books in this series. And if you prefer to get the history of characters read the entire Mafia Wars series. This book had dark vibes, suspense, a lot of emotions, and of course an HEA. We have loved these characters so much and loved reading their journey.
Brax is my new favorite of The Underworld men, and I had a feeling he might be after his prior appearances. Valentina's perspective was so interesting to me because we finally get to truly see how vulnerable and soft she is beneath her ruthless ambition. The first chunk of the book felt... slow. I think this is because it was a lot of disjointed time skips to finally get to where we last left off with these characters in The Underworld. The heat and affection that grows between Brax and Valentina is gripping and when we get to the crux of them getting married and the following events, particularly the mafia family duties conflicting with The Underworld duties, family dynamics, and the sabotage and subterfuge facing all three couples from this series really pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading. Brax is truly ready, at every step, to burn the world down for Valentina--and while she doesn't need him to fight her battles, it is unbelievably endearing that he does. The happily ever after is well-earned and the epilogue brought me so much joy. It was a wonderful wrap up to this main storyline.
OMG!! Bride by Ritual is a secret society, dark romance with family rivalry. This is Valentina and Brax’s story filled with unexpected threats, fake marriage, and hidden agendas. Valentina had always wanted a seat in the Underworld and she would do anything even marry an enemy to get it. Brax would do anything to protect his family and is a smart hacker who got caught up in a situation he wasn’t prepared for. I love the instant attraction and how easily they were able to work things to their advantage. Their story went from an agreement to something more meaningful. Their story gave me all the feels and I could put it down. I love their story and can’t wait to read more!!
I voluntarily leave an honest review of this gifted advance reader copy.
Bride By Ritual is Book 3 in the Underworld series and in my opinion the darkest, cruelest parts of The Society was saved for Brax and Valentina.
Brax O'Malley unexpectedly finds himself in the clutches of The Society and instead of losing his life he's thrust into the chaos and control of The Omni. And under the mentorship of Valentina Abruzzo. An O'Malley rival.
Valentina has spent years moving up the ladder of The Society and has endured more than one person should ever have to, but she keeps her head high and proves she's a strong candidate for a highly coveted seat at the table with The Omni. She's not going to let Brax get in the way of all she's worked for.
The undenial chemistry and connection shared between them both may be the end of all Valentina knows but will it strengthen her or finally break what The Society has been trying to accomplish?
This is not only a 5 star read but a 5 star series! I absolutely loved seeing older characters from the Mafia Wars series.
Please check all trigger warnings as it is a heavy read!
this book was so haunting beautiful I’m obsessed! Just please check your trigger because the cult rituals and other parts of this book do get really dark. Because some parts had me going what the fuck… and not in the hot way, but in a genuine sense of fear… This has to be one of the best cult books I’ve ever read, I love the Underworld series but this book really highlighted how terrifying The Underworld Society truly is. I loved the fmc, Valentina, she was such a fun and badass character but she carries a lot of baggage. Luckily for her, flirty Brax has no trouble taking it all off her shoulders. I’ve never read a book where the fmc initiates the mmc into a cult, it’s always been the other way around and honestly I’m loving this so much. Made the storyline so much more interesting, that had me hooked onto every page. The plot was haunting, intense and quick heartbreaking at times too. The only thing that bugged me a little bit was all the time skips, like one chapter we’d skip 4 months then the next is after another 3 weeks? But it does show that their story was going throughout the first two books. Brax is such a fun character, at first I didn’t know if I was gonna like him that much, but by the end I was in love. Like how could I resist his protective, possessive ass? There was some good smut in this book too, but I loved how Brax possessiveness and their beautiful but crazy chemistry really shined through. I really enjoyed this book and give it a 4.5/5
I devoured Bride by Ritual in hours and all in one setting. Brax and Valentina's fake relationship took me to unexpected places with raw emotions and plot twists I couldn't predict. I loved seeing older characters from Maggie's Mafia Wars appear throughout the story. Without a doubt this is not just a 5-star book it's become a 5-star series for me. This take of a Mafia world alongside of a secret society is such a refreshing view on a world we have all read about before. This entire series has kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what happens next and Brax and Valentina are no different. I didn't see most of the storyline or plot twists coming my way as I was reading. I highly recommended this series to any Mafia, Secret Society, Enemies to Lovers, Fake Marriage, My Wife book lovers.
Brax is funny, alpha, compassionate and fierce. Valentina is fierce, badass, sassy, with hidden depth behind her ice queen personality.
If you have TW please check the author's list of them at the beginning of the book.
If this is your first time coming across this series, it cannot be read as a standalone you will need to start with the following Book 1 - Bride by Initiation Book 2 - Bride By Coronation Book 3 - Bride by Ritual
This is the third book in the Underworld series and lives up to all expectations. Brad and Valentina’s story is heartwarming, heartbreaking and everything and more of what I was hoping for. I laughed, cried and become immersed in the story from the first page. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves dark romances.
The third book in the Underworld Series and this is Brax and Valentina’s story.
Over the course of the series each of the couples are exposed the underworld society but I believe that Brax and Valentina’s is most certainly the darkest as we see a lot more terrifying elements of the society and our two main characters really go through quite a bit.
Valentina and Brax’s story begins where Brax is caught in a place he shouldn’t be in and Valentina is put forward to mentor him in the ways of the society. While Valentina had undergone trials previously she now finds herself undergoing trials along with Brax and this had my hackles rising that something deep was occurring here.
From the first moment these two met there was a spark that couldn’t be denied and over the course of the time they spend together we see them getting closer and closer. Valentina is feisty and strong - I mean I would crumble at some of the things she experienced but she still held her head high. Brax showed Valentina that he was happy to take the weight of her troubles off her shoulders and that she was safe to be herself with him.
Maggie gives us an insight of the couple over these numerous trials and brings us right up to the end of bride by coronation where two seats on the royal council is now open but they can only be filled by a couple that come together outside of an arranged marriage and of course Valentina volunteers her and Brax. While Brax was initially shocked he absolutely went with the idea as having Valentina as his wife is certainly not a hardship. Let’s just say this man was possessive, didn’t hesitate to drop a my wife and also worshiped the ground she walked on - I mean who could resist that👏🏼
Without giving too much away, this book has so many twists and turns that had me completely hooked and just like the previous books in the series we saw some old favourites from the mafia wars series.
Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
The story for this book actually starts around chapter 14. Prior to that chapter it’s basically a recap of what happened in books 1 and 2. A few chapters give a backstory on Valentina’s and Brax’s relationship.
Other than that, I believe this is my favorite book of the 3. It has romance, mystery, drama and spice. I loved it! I’m glad that all of the characters got a HEA after having to deal with all those disturbing rituals performed in the Underworld.
I had so many high expectations for the end of this series. I liked book one. I freaking loved book two!!! This one I just left like it left a bit anti-climatic.
Things I did enjoy! I loved Brax and I did enjoy Valentina.
Brax being such a simp for his girl!
I enjoyed seeing the relationships with the characters from the other books in the series and how they are doing.
Things I didn’t love. I felt like the story was just okay. Like the big thing that happens was just kinda egh… I wanted more from it. It was just like ok it’s done?!?! What?!
The whole Blue story line was just whatever. I realize it’s cause we were setting it up for her book but still what did it do for the story?!
I really wanted to love this it just didn’t hit. For me personally.

Bride by Ritual is book three in the Underworld series and is the story of Brax and Valentina. This is a fake marriage/marriage of convenience, mafia, secret society, dark romance with some violent themes so please check your content warnings prior to reading.
Brax was taken in as a teenager by the O’Malley’s and had spent his life dedicated to their family and the clan. Except now he has wandered somewhere he didn’t belong and gets caught up in a secret society that he cannot discuss and cannot escape and the woman he cannot forget is his guide and handler. Valentina should be a sworn enemy of his clan but there is something about her he cannot walk away from.
Valentina has grown up in the shadow of the mafia and the Underworld. Determined to take her parents’ seats on the Royal Council, Valentina has spent her life doing the bidding, bleeding for and at the mercy of the Underworld. When it is clear the only way that will happen is with Brax as her husband, she forces him into a fake marriage to fulfill the requirements of joining the council.
Bride by Ritual gives us the back story of Valentina and Brax that we caught glimpses of in Bride by Initiation and Bride by Coronation and the conclusion of the Underworld series. Brax will stop at nothing to protect those he loves, even when those people should hate one another. What starts out as a plan to help Valentina take her seat on the council becomes more when he must protect her from the very people she has been attempting to join.
The banter between Brax and Valentina were so good in the previous two books and it continued in Bride by Ritual. Valentina gives Brax all the sass and attitude he can handle and then some. Brax sees Valentina for who she truly is and accepts her as she is and loves her for it. The chemistry between them is on fire and you can feel the emotion in the story and the connection they share.
If you like stories full of suspense, intrigue, insane chemistry with banter for days, this is the perfect book for you. I received an advanced copy of this book and am leaving an honest review as a show of my appreciation.
🖤🖤Bride by Ritual ARC Review🖤🖤 Bride By Ritual, the third Underworld Series novel by Maggie Cole, follows Brax and Valentina in The Society. Brax O’Malley is recognized as a capable and empathetic leader. After being apprehended by The Society, he falls under the supervision of The Omni and is mentored by his family’s rival, Valentina Abruzzo. Introduced into the O’Malley family as a teenager, Brax has devoted his efforts to their welfare and that of the clan. He consistently prioritizes the protection of those close to him, irrespective of historical animosities. An initial strategy to support Valentina’s appointment to the council evolves when circumstances require Brax to safeguard her from the same individuals, she seeks acceptance from.
Valentina Abruzzo demonstrates determination, resilience, and ambition beneath her composed exterior. Having advanced through The Society while overcoming significant challenges, she remains committed to securing a position with The Omni and is resolute in preventing Brax from hindering her progress. Recognizing that her eligibility for the council requires marriage to Brax, she arranges a marriage of convenience in order to satisfy these requirements.
The dynamic exchanges between Brax and Valentina, established in the previous two books, are effectively maintained in ‘Bride by Ritual’. Valentina challenges Brax with her wit and assertiveness, while Brax recognizes and appreciates Valentina’s authentic character. Their relationship is marked by strong compatibility and emotional depth, which is palpable throughout the narrative. Readers who enjoy novels featuring suspense, intrigue, and well-developed character interactions will likely find this book particularly engaging.

Bride by Ritual is the third book in The Underworld series. We get Valentina and Brax’s steamy marriage of convenience story and it did not disappoint! Valentina is fierce, fiery, strong FMC despite the past traumas she’s endured. Brax is everything you want in an Irish mafia man! He is loyal to his friends and family and will burn the world down for his woman. These two complement each other so well! They both balance and ground each other. The banter, the tension… flaming hot. 🔥 His nickname for her “little Minx” swoon😍
"You look at me like you already own me." -Brax She replies in a low voice, "And you look at me like you want to."
"If I need to f—- your attitude back in you, I will, Valentina."
I have throughly enjoyed diving into this secret society with bizarre rituals that even shocked me with some of the things they had to do! Valentina has literally given blood, sweat and tears to this society and reading what she went through, I felt so bad for her but also admired her strength and resilience! Brax would literally do anything to protect her and his family. There is some OW drama but not in a cheating way (and we will get more of her in the future in her own story) and let me tell you this man stands on buisness when defending his woman and letting everyone know exactly how important she is to him! I was kicking my feet!
I loved that the other characters from the previous books were still heavily included in this. There is healing, comfort and growth. Maggie did such a great job wrapping up the story and giving them the HEA they deserved!

Thank you Maggie Cole for the eARC of Bride by Ritual. All opinions are my own.
It’s not often that the final book in a series ends up being the strongest, but Bride by Ritual absolutely proves that it can happen. This was hands down the most explosive installment of the series for me and it was packed with betrayal, shifting loyalties, and the kind of tension that makes you hold your breath between chapters. What stood out most was the powerful reminder that even the strongest empires don’t usually fall from outside forces, they combust from within. The unraveling felt intense, layered, and emotionally charged in a way that made every twist hit harder. Watching everything implode from the inside was both satisfying and devastating in the best way. I also loved the second-chance, estranged family reunion element. There was something deeply emotional about seeing fractured relationships attempt to mend. It added heart to a story already heavy with power and betrayal, and it balanced the grit with genuine vulnerability. This was a solid 4-star read for me. The only reason it didn’t reach five stars was Blu’s storyline. I kept waiting for more clarity, more closure, something that fully answered the lingering questions surrounding that character. Instead, I finished the book still wanting just a little bit more resolution there. Overall, this was a dramatic, high-stakes finale that delivered on intensity and emotion. A fitting end to the series even if I’m still side-eyeing those unanswered questions. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ #BrideByRitual #MaggieCole #SeriesFinale #ExplosiveReads #BetrayalAndBlood #SecondChanceFamily #EmpireInFlames #RomanceReaders #DarkRomance #4StarRead #BookReview #NoShelfControl #NSC #LibraryofSarahAshley
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is Bride by third and final book in The Underworld Series. You need to read Bride by Initiation and Bride by Coronation. I feel like you would enjoy this more if you read those books. Since all these books are set in the same secret society. But you could read it as a standalone. This one is a little darker than the other so you will want to check your trigger warnings. I have to say that The Underworld freaked me out a little this time. This is the story of Valentina and Brax. If you love strong female characters, then you are going to love Valentina. The girl is tons of fun being around but does carry a lot of baggage with her. When she meets Brax, well let's just say this book has a twist that you're not going to see very often in a book. I really loved that and don't want to ruin what happens. But now Valentina is going to have to do things she doesn't want to do to claim her rightful place. These two do really have some spicy heat going on between them. There is a lot going on in this book and it will keep you on your toes. Family dynamics, events you don't see coming and the couple we have come to know and love from this series are all there. This is a book that you do not want to miss.
I am so sad this series is over. What a wild ride it has been. If you love dark romance, mafia, and a splash of cult vibes then this is for you. I have been waiting for Brax’s story from the beginning and he did not disappoint. He is funny, sexy, and loves to push Valentina’s buttons. On the flip side, he is fiercely protective of her, which is something she is so deserving of. What she goes through in this book is absolutely heartbreaking. She deserves so much more than she has been giving and I loved seeing her get the love she deserves.
This one definitely had some seriously twisted moments. One thing I would have liked some clarification on was if Kirill knew what was going to happen to her beforehand. She endures 2 brutal rituals that seemed far worse than what was “owed.” Valentina is his one friend so I can imagine he would have allowed that to happen. If he did, it would very much change how I view him.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and absolutely love this series. Maggie came up with such a unique and twisted world but the center of the story truly is about family. I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next!
Thank you to Maggie and her team for this ARC in return for my honest review. My opinions are my own.
I have been waiting for this story and somehow I was not fully prepared for what it held! It was the absolute perfect story for Brax and Valentina.
These two were introduced to us in book 1 and since I knew deep down I would love them, but Valentina especially was made out to be this awful power hungry woman. I am so glad we get not only her backstory but also get the inside scoop of her true thoughts and emotions. Brax was fantastic and had so much more to his character than we were initially led to believe.
These two together were an absolute power couple and endured more than any human should ever have to. V had me in tears over what she endured.
I loved that Maggie brought us through the timelines of what Brax and V were doing behind the scenes in the other two books without being redundant. She filled in so many gaps for us and there was a lotttt happening! Then she took this book to a whole new level with the level of action, suspense, and of course her creative spice and totally knocked it out of the park.
It was such a powerful and emotional story and was a fantastic way to end this incredible series! Thank you for the gift of this read!
What a perfect ending to a great 3 book series! Such a page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end! This book follows Brax and Valentina (Minx). It’s a dark mafia romance/enemies to lovers/fake marriage.
It starts out with Brax being an intruder in the Underworld where Valentina is trying to take a seat at the table. She’s the one to decide if he lives or dies. Valentina becomes his mentor and Brax has 6 hours to learn his lesson. Will he make it? This turns into a fake marriage eventually so Valentina can take her seat. Will this fake marriage turn into a real marriage in the end? As time goes on, it seems Brax and Valentina’s connection only grows stronger. Their chemistry also starts to sizzle. Brax starts to want to protect Valentina. There is a secret the Underworld is hiding that involves Valentina, Brax and their friends. What could that possibly be? Will they be able to take down the Underworld? Will Brax’s family ever except Valentina? Will a broken bond between Valentina and her uncle ever be put back together? So many questions, but they will all be answered.
Since book one, I have been invested in this series until the end, and what an amazing ending! From the beginning we meet Brax and Valentina within the other stories but this one pulled at my heart strings. I love the banter between these two and the chemistry is delicious. And lets not forget these two are complete opposites but come together beautifully in this read. Valentina has always had to be independent and never trusts anyone, yet Brax made her feel safe and protected. Her insecurities are always on a loop in her head, yet again, Brax knows exactly what to do to help her feel special. But the Omni has other plans and together they become unstoppable. I am sad to have the series end, but is this really the end?? We get to see all of our favorite characters work together and put an end to the secret society Sean's father started years ago. And please let me not forget about the spice. Valentina and Brax were made for each other. Allowing the other to confront feelings they never knew could exist. Did you forget about our stalker Blue? I knew I needed more of her after her last stunt and sure enough, Maggie is giving us her book soon. EEK!!
Review by: Jennifer (5 Stars) This was the perfect ending to this trilogy! I was hooked from the first book, the whole secret society trope, the fact that Sean's father had this whole secret life and created the world that Sean and Zara found themselves wrapped in. Then moving on to Fiona and Kirill's story and now we get Brax and Valentina. Brax who got himself into this situation by following Sean and being forced into this, Valentina who is a willing participant, wanting her seat at the table. But the underworld has proven that no one can be trusted and everyone has secrets. Will that seat at the table actually turn out to be everything that Valentina hoped for? Will Brax play the part that is needed for both him and Valentina's sake, or is he too much of a wild card?
I can already tell you, I plan on doing a reread now that I have the whole trilogy. These do flow from one story to the next so they must be read in order for anything to make sense. There is danger, violence, smoking hot naughty bits, drama, betrayal... I mean it's about a secret underworld society so just expect everything to happen that could possibly happen. This was freaking perfect and gets 5 stars.
Intense, dramatic and completely addictive in all the ways I hoped it would be. Brax and Valentina’s frenemies-to-fake-marriage dynamic is fiery, chaotic and packed with tension. The Underworld politics, secret society power plays and constant maneuvering for control kept me turning the pages. The twists were bold, the stakes felt high, and the ending gave me genuine happy tears.
That said, the writing style did affect my overall experience. There are repeated moments where the descriptions and metaphors feel very chatgptesque. Overly polished and slightly robotic, which made it harder for me to fully immerse myself in certain scenes. Some lines felt constructed rather than lived in and I occasionally struggled to clearly picture the setting or emotionally connect with what was being described.
However, despite that, the strength of the plot, the character dynamics and the emotional payoff carried the story. The tension between Brax and Valentina, the layered scheming, and the final resolution absolutely delivered.
A strong 4 star read for me, not flawless, but undeniably compelling. I’m still fully invested in this world and already excited for Resisting Blue!
I wanted to read this to finish the series, and because I know Blue's books come next and this book sets up that story, but I really didn't have much interest in Brax and Valentina as a couple, I just wanted to see what happened at the end with the Underworld, and it was a little underwhelming.
I can't belive the way things got resolved, it just seemed way too easy, this was supposed to be such a complex dark secret society and the whole series builts up to the final scenes, and it just seemed way to convenient and easy.
After the events at 20% where Brax and Valentina are practically forced to do things, I just couldn't really connect with them as a couple after that, I think the author was going for spicy, but for me it felt wrong, and their whole relationship is practically forced, they didn't chose each other, they were forced into it, and then just trauma bonded and accepted it as it was, it just didn't felt genuine and the couple did not manage to convince me.
It still a well written book, and it had some good emotional scenes, I think Blue's story was set up very well and I'm looking forward to her book, even if in here she wasn't a likeable character.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 The Queen finally gets her crown. 👑🔥 If you’ve been following the Underworld trilogy, you know Valentina (Minx) is an absolute force. This book was the perfect finale—giving us a heroine who is a literal boss and a hero who is obsessed enough to help her burn down anyone in her way. 📈😈 Why you need to read it: Frenemies-to-Lovers: Brax and Valentina have that "I might kill you or kiss you" tension that is off the charts. 🔪💋 He Falls Harder: Watching the lethal Brax become a total simp for his wife? Top-tier. He is the ultimate "Touch her and you'll never be found" MMC. 🖤🩸 The Ritual: The fake marriage / ritual ceremony vibes were dark, gritty, and so intense. It’s the perfect mix of mafia politics and high-heat spice. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ The Payoff: It wraps up the Omni mystery in such a satisfying (and violent) way. 💣 It’s a thick book, but I flew through it. If you love a FMC who doesn't need saving and a dark mafia world that actually feels dangerous, grab this one! 🥂✨ #DarkRomance #MafiaRomance #MaggieCole #UnderworldSeries #BookTok 📖✨
Wow, what an explosive way to end a series. I savored this book for as long as I could as I love this world and wasn't ready for it to end.
One of my favorite parts in this series was watching rival families come together through love.
So if you like these tropes, then you'll definitely love this book -Fake Marriage/Marriage of Convenience -Frenemies -Secret Society -Dark Mafia -Family Secrets -Taboo Steam -Found Family -Scars of the Past -Rags to Riches
Valentina Abruzzo wants a seat on the Royal Council, Brax O'Malley wants to burn and destroy the whole organization. They fall in love with each other in the process, question is can or will their love survive. The things Valentina and Brax had to endure were heart wrenching, and it definitely made them think if The Underworld was worth all the pain and suffering that they were put through.
After everything love does conquer all and they get the HEA they deserve and live a happy life with their friends and family.
Brax and Valentina... My goodness! I have been waiting for them and I held off on reading any of the chapters that came through the emails because I wanted to be able to read it all together and not wait! Their story did not disappoint at all!
But my goodness, we know Brax followed Sean the first night at the fight but we never really knew what happened to him afterwards! That man went through the ringer and even more so after Valentina volunteered him for more.. and he knew there was not an option to say NO to the underworld..
Valentina we all know had waited years to get her seat at the table and when she saw her chance to take it, she did. Without thinking of the consequences that came with it for her and what she just did to Brax!
Will the twists and turns that were meant to break them apart and destroy them or bring them closer together?? You've got to read it, to find out! This books sucks you in from the beginning to end and you never want to put it down!!
I am obsessed with this series. Bride by Ritual is book 3 in The Underworld series and I think this one has to be my favorite, though I think I've said that about all of them. The society was a lot darker in this one, which is what I think caught my attention. While the other stories were a bit dark, this one made me see them in a different light because of some of the things they put Valentina through. She is determined to do what takes to earn her seat at the table., even if it includes a fake marriage to Brax. But the connection the two of them start to share, I absolutely loved it. He saw through the society's crap and was determined to protect Valentina from it. Maggie is an amazing writer. This entire series has me in a chokehold. It's twisty ,suspenseful, dark, but the thing that lightens up the entire story is the found family aspect. The closeness all the characters form, even from the previous books is really endearing. They support each other and really have each other backs. This entire series is a must read.
This is the third and final book in the Underworld series and it does not disappoint.
Brax is found somewhere he shouldn't be and Valentina has to pay the price by becoming his mentor. Like in the previous books, both couples have to undergo trials to prove their loyalty to the Underworld, something that Brax has difficulties with. His defiance is at times humorous and I love how Valentina keeps him in check. Undeniable sparks, chemistry and connection from the start, Valentina is a very strong character, Brax confident, protective and possessive and quickly sees through her troubles.
I genuinely didn't see where this book was going and loved every explosive page. There are so many unexpected twists and turns, hot scenes and the welcomed inclusion of some OG's from the Mafia Wars series (watch out for Blue, Adrian's daughter who had a few major scenes and has her own duet coming soon). Totally recommend this book and the series. Can't wait to read what this talented author comes up with next.
Buckle up! We are going back into The Underworld! Brax and Valentina’s story is dark and twisted and will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Valentina is an absolute badass and spitfire and I loved her as the FMC. Brax is ruthless…but also flirty and dare I say charming (in an Irish Mafia sorta way) and together they are pure magic. From the tension to the banter to their chemistry, these two were on fire. We get to see him break down her walls and really support her.
I love how we get their backstory and everything they went through. We also see some of the other characters from the previous books. What a great conclusion to the story!
