Surrender

Rate this book
Book Two in the Happily Ever After series (formerly the Hearts & Flowers series), this novel continues the stories of the Hart sisters—four women running a luxury bridal business while searching for their own happily ever afters.

Ivy Hart never planned to get married, especially not to Jonathan Damon, the sexy, charming co-owner of Magic
Moments. But one impulsive Vegas wedding later, they’re living together, pretending for the cameras, and igniting a
passion neither of them saw coming.

He touches her like she’s his everything. But trusting him means unlocking secrets she’s kept buried for years. And
Jonathan? He’s not playing pretend. He wants her. All of her. Forever. The only question is… will she let him in?

Surrender has a lot of romantic elements, but as a whole is not a romance. It is a deeply emotional story of healing, rediscovery, and second chances. Originally published in 2011 as From This Moment, Ivy Hart's journey has been completely re-imagined. This fresh, expanded version dives deeper into Ivy's internal world, exploring her pain, her guarded heart and her slow surrender to love.

SURRENDER is the second story in the Happily Ever After Series, and it features Ivy, the “all about business” Hart sister, who handles the business of Hearts And Flowers, the full-service bridal planners. Ivy has been keeping a secret from her close-knit family. For ten years she closed the door to a hurtful and devastating part of her life and moved on while placing her hopes on the adage that her aunt always quoted, “Every dog has its day.” You will totally get that when you read the story.

The pragmatic and efficient Ivy develops a friendship with Jonathan Damon, part owner of Magic Moments, an upscale event venue. If you recall, Jonathan is the brother of Marc Damon, the hero of BLOOM, Book 1 of this series. Two years have passed since Ivy’s sister, Rose and Jonathan’s brother Marc’s love story blossomed. Now, Ivy finds herself in a “relationship” with Jonathan. It’s been a long time since she has found herself in the arms of a man whom she trusts. After winning a contest held in Las Vegas to host a wedding reality show, Ivy invited Jonathan to celebrate with her and celebrate they did! The morning after the contest, Ivy woke up the next morning with a wedding ring on her finger, and Jonathan in her bed. I’ll stop here and allow you to read what happened as that scene unveiled when Ivy came to grips with her current situation.

I loved Ivy and Jonathan’s story. In order to take advantage of the television opportunities that would promote her family’s business, Ivy had to make some fast decisions. One being to disclose her marriage to Jonathan. Yes, it gets complicated, and just when Jonathan thinks an annulment is in their future, things change. The whole “Reality TV” show scene is very believable, and Ivy and Jonathan play their roles well. That is until Ivy’s past comes back to haunt her in the form of her college crush, Randall Holloway “a narcissistic creep” then, and a narcissistic creep now. With his appearance, Ivy finally reveals the secret she has kept for ten years. It’s a breakthrough moment for our heroine.

SURRENDER is a wonderful story of growth and learning to trust again, and I agree with the author that it also can be placed in the genre of women’s fiction.
I recommend SURRENDER for your reading pleasure. I also recommend the playlist that goes with this story. Don’t forget to read BLOOM first. You can thank me later.

Fear and Pain

The title of this review says a lot about this book. Those two things will prevent you from doing or becoming so much, if you let them. This book was beautiful the love J showed Ivy came through wonderfully. Thank you for writing this story to show how a man truly can love a woman!!
