Julianne Moore is an American actress.

In October 2007, Moore made her literary debut with the publication of Freckleface Strawberry, a children's book based on her experiences as a child. In April 2009, Moore followed up with a second children's book titled Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully.

Freckleface Strawberry loves gum. Windypants Patrick loves donuts. Feeling smart, they sneak their favorite treats to school one day. The result? A huge mess that ruins their homework. Luckily for them, their teacher mistakes the mess for on-purpose extra credit work. Freckleface Strawberry and Windypants Patrick know they must admit the truth, but what will happen if they do?

This is a colorful, humorous lesson in honesty, in what to take to school (and what to leave at home), and in how to learn a lesson from a mistake. The amusing twist at the end leaves room for discussion about what disasters the two friends may be heading toward next.

Yay for girls who love bugs! Teachers who do not embarrass kids who make mistakes! And two mommies! Yes, two mommies and it is not some big existential crisis for Windy Pants Patrick. The only reason I made it 4 stars is that I am concerned that the teacher actually calls Patrick, "Windy Pants Patrick."

In a book about school and everyday happenings with which students will easily relate, Freckleface Strawberry and her friend Windy Pants Patrick carry some messy food items in their backpacks. When their teacher praises their innovative mountain formations, caused by the gum and doughnut in the packs, they own up to those being there by accident. Young readers and learners will be reassured by the youngsters' teacher's kindness and their decision to be honest. The illustrations are adorable, and it's hard not to be charmed by the charaters and Freckleface Strawberry's penchant for bugs.

This was an adorable little book for children! The illustrations perfectly captured the emotions of the characters and I liked the important lesson that was conveyed through the story. I think it is perfect for kids. The only thing that made me not give it 5 stars was the use of very repetitive language. While I know this is for kids, using the same sentences twice with just the names changed would have been the one thing I would have changed.

Freckleface Strawberry and Windy Pant Patrick decided to bring gum and a doughnut to school in their backpacks without their parents knowing and a mess ensues. Freckleface and Windy Pants must decide if they will tell their teacher the truth about the mess or let her believe a lie. This was a funny, cute book and I liked that Windy Pants has two mommies but the author did not feel the need to make a big deal about it. Recommended for ages 4-6.

In this first book, Freckleface Strawberry and Windy Pants Patrick both learn a lesson as some "extra" items are added to their backpacks.

I read this book because it was recently verbally challenged by an irate library user who claimed that the USA was a "Christian nation" (Protestant) only and that homosexuality was an abomination and anyone who worked for a library that supported such materials would have to answer to God for it. Hmmmm...All this because Freckleface Strawberry's friend Windy Pants Patrick has 2 moms.

All in all I liked this book. It is nicely written for a child learning to read, with some nice repetition and a nice story about being careful of what you put in your backpack with your finished homework!

My Review: This was a great book to pick up for kicking off the new school year. This is a great level 2 book, consisting of short, simple sentences, lots of repetition and introduces chapters. I like how it demonstrates how some kids like different things, and also weaves in what should and shouldn't be going into backpacks to school. This was an easy read for Munchkin but he found it funny that the teach thought the donuts were mountains. A little comedy keeps young readers coming back for more!

This Level 2 Reader is perfect for young children who are still learning about how physical objects travel in backpacks.

I read this to my Junior Kindergarten class and they loved it! They've asked me to re-read it several times since that first time, and they still enjoy it. I think it has something to do with how relatable the characters are and how relatable the situations are. I hope to get more Freckleface Strawberry books to read to them.

It is impossible for me not to love this book, although I have never been a fan of the names "Freckleface Strawberry" or "Windy Pants Patrick." The cleverly executed story told in very readable text is packed with personality and touchstones for growth. The art, as ever, is authentic and endearing. A great adaptation of these characters in a new format.
