Ivy

Hunting down my biological father wasn’t supposed to lead me to a broody, sexy, triplet biker.

Ryan “Nickel” Garrison ticks all of my boxes, but he prevents me from talking to my bio ‘dad.’
Determined to outsmart Nickel, I never expected to be cornered at gunpoint…or for the sexy biker to put himself between me and the gunman.
We’re captured, knocked out, and taken miles away.
Stranded in the middle of nowhere, Nickel and I work together to escape, only things go from bad to worse.

The threat looms and Nickel insists on keeping me safe even if it means I’m thrust into the world of the Riot Motorcycle Club.

I have no choice but to trust Nickel and his club to neutralize the danger.

Soon I realize, the biggest threat isn’t from criminals, it’s from a man who will break inside my heart.

Karen Renee is the author of the Riot Motorcycle Club, Beta, and O-Town series of books. She once crunched Nielsen ratings data but these days she brings her imagination to life by writing books. She has wanted to be a writer since she was very young, but it’s taken the last twenty plus years for her to amass enough courage and overall life experience to bring that dream to life. Some of those life experiences came from the wonderful world of advertising, banking, and local television media research. She is a proud wife and mother, and a Jacksonville native. When she’s not at the soccer field or cooking, you can find her at her local library, the grocery store, in her car jamming out to some tunes, or hibernating while she writes and/or reads books.

Nickel and Ivy

Riot MC series never gets old with each book being fresh every time. This time we have Nickel and Ivy’s story and it was full of twists and turns and steam. When Ivy goes looking for her biological father she runs into Nickel. When Nickel and Ivy’s lives are in danger things take a turn because she has to trust him if they want to get out of this. I loved watching their relationship grow over this time.

Break Inside by Karen Renee is part of the Riot MC Next Generation series and focuses on the characters Ryan ‘Nickel’ and Ivy. All Ivy wants to do is find her sperm donor, but when she does Ryan and his two siblings are standing in her way. When Ivy gets into a spot of bother, it is Ryan that literally stands in the way of a gunman to save her, even though it means being taken himself. Thus, starting the slow burn romance between the two as they try to survive a gunman and threats not only to themselves but also other members of the MC.

This book starts straight in with the action and although we get a little bit of backstory, this series is very much focused on the new generation with other characters popping up now and again. I liked the sass that Ivy gave Ryan. Yes, she thought her was cute, but she wasn’t going to put up with his nonsense either, especially when at the start he certainly got it all wrong on why Ivy was looking for her ‘father’.

Both characters fight the feelings they have for each other from the get go and don’t want to get into a relationship, but low and behold, that is exactly what they get into, and they’re totally meant to be together. Ryan is a protector trying to look after a woman who can protect herself, and Ivy smooths some of Ryan’s rough edges.

I liked that this story didn’t have any relationship angst and it was more focused on the action and attention that outsiders were trying to throw at them.

I would definitely read the previous books in this series as well as the series before just to get your head around characters and things that may be going on with them and the MC. But, if you love strong characters and a great storyline, you’re going to want to read this book!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

This is the third book in this next generation series, and this is Ivy and Ryan / Nickel’s story.
Ivy is a real estate agent, who is searching for her biological father, and when she finds herself at the wrong end of a gun, Ryan steps into protect her, and the sparks fly between these two.
This is a well written, easy to read, action packed story, with found family, friendships, emotions, danger, suspense, intrigue, drama, tension, challenges, trust, twists and turns, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

There was so much crazy in this one, from Ivy's connection to Lark, to Ivy meeting Ryan the first time and the second time going to hell and both of them having to take care of business. The two of them getting to know each other was fun, along with Ivy learning all about Riot and MC life. It was nice the had a couple of girls her age to help things along. Things got really crazy towards the end, so glad things turned out ok, but it was iffy there for a bit. The next book should be interesting, can't wait to see Ryan's reaction, you know it's going to be something from how he acted in this one.

Curious about her biological father, Ivy is a real estate agent who is surprised to find her mother's sperm donor lives in the same city she does. She ventures to the bar which shares his name only to be blocked from meeting him by three gatekeepers - identical men and their triplet sister. Ryan can't get the woman who came into his bar looking for his MC brother and coworker out of his mind. Something about her just sparks something in him and when she finds herself in a perilous situation, he steps in, only to find himself kidnapped along side her.

After their initial turbulent meeting and subsequent second meeting/kidnapping and escape, Ivy and Ryan fall into an easy relationship with no angst, just feelings that grow deeply and quickly. They both battle internally with the depth and speed of their feelings, since neither is looking for a relationship, but neither is too concerned about it either. I love that Ryan (Nickel) calls Ivy Trouble even though she swears she isn't one to get in to trouble. His attitude is so laid back and refreshing, not easily angered by anything except attacks on his loved ones... probably because of being a triplet with a brother and sister who seem to look for trouble. Ryan's apparently learned to process his feelings, rather than bottle them up, which is a pleasant change from many male MC characters.

Break Inside was a breath of fresh air! A story without relationship angst, with two well developed, likeable characters. That's not to say there isn't danger or drama, but those are more things that happen to the characters as part of the plot rather than things that threaten their relationship. So many times I wanted to reach through the pages and grab hold of Ryan. What a keeper!!

Ivy and Ryan's novel is an interconnected standalone in the Riot MC Next Generation series and an extension of the original Riot MC series. While it is not necessary to have read any of the Riot books previously, it does add depth to the story with many of the members of the Riot MC featured in the book.

Hold on tight, because Break Inside by Karen Renee is not here to ease you in gently. This third instalment in the Riot MC Next Generation series throws you straight into the chaos, and it does not let go.

From the moment Ivy sets out to find her biological father, there’s an edge of tension humming beneath every page. What she doesn’t expect is Nickel—a hardened, infuriatingly protective biker who plants himself firmly in her path like an immovable force. Their first encounters spark with resistance and defiance, Ivy’s determination clashing beautifully with Nickel’s need to keep her at arm’s length. But beneath that friction is something far more dangerous… and far more irresistible.

What unfolds is a story that blends high-stakes suspense with a slow-burning, undeniable connection. The forced proximity and shocking twist of their kidnapping amps up the intensity, pushing both characters beyond their limits. It’s in those moments of danger and vulnerability that their chemistry truly ignites, transforming tension into something deeper, rawer, and impossible to ignore.

Karen Renee delivers a gripping mix of romance and adrenaline, balancing emotional depth with pulse-racing action. Ivy’s strength and refusal to back down make her a compelling heroine, while Nickel’s guarded nature slowly unravels in a way that feels both authentic and deeply satisfying.

Break Inside is a wild, nail-biting ride filled with danger, desire, and a connection forged under pressure. If you love your romance with an edge of suspense and characters who fight just as hard for each other as they do against the world, this one will have you hooked from the very first page.

Book 3 of the Riot MC 2nd Generation is as good as all its predecessors, and trust me that’s saying a lot. Like the others this is a well written book with an action packed romantic storyline and of course wonderful characters. Characters that you will come to know, love and root for. Ivy and Ryan, aka Nickel, meet in the craziest of ways. She has come to the club’s bar to find her biological father, Lark. But when she is stopped by Nickel asking what her business is with Lark, he refuses to let her see him saying “it’s personal” isn’t a good enough reason. From here the story takes off. The chemistry and banter between these two throughout the book will have you laughing, smiling and even swooning a few times. But things aren’t all roses either. When Ivy is held at gunpoint outside the club, Nickel’s protective side takes over. Determined to keep her safe, he ends up captured along with her.

The storyline is full of suspense, dangers, romance and so much more. Who knew just looking for one’s biological dad would cause so much “trouble” yet possibly lead Ivy into a world and a man she never knew she needed. I highly recommend all the riot mc books along with Break Inside. As for this reader, I can’t wait to see what happens next when the series brings up Ryan’s twin sister’s story in Make or Break.

Break Inside delivers everything fans of romantic suspense hope for—high-stakes danger, unforgettable chemistry, and characters whose emotional journeys are every bit as compelling as the action surrounding them.

What I appreciated most is the balance between suspense and romance. Karen Renee doesn't rely solely on shootouts, kidnappings, or external threats to create tension. Instead, she allows Ivy's search for family and Nickel's fierce loyalty to shape a relationship that feels authentic, vulnerable, and earned.

One of the novel's greatest strengths is the dynamic between the two main characters. Ivy is determined and resilient, while Nickel's protective nature never diminishes her independence. Their trust develops naturally through shared adversity, making every emotional moment feel believable and rewarding.

At its heart, Break Inside is about more than escaping danger. It is a story about finding family where you least expect it, learning to trust despite past wounds, and discovering that sometimes the greatest risk is allowing someone to break through the walls around your heart.

An exciting and emotionally satisfying read for fans of motorcycle club romance, romantic suspense, protective heroes, and stories where action and heartfelt emotion are perfectly balanced.

I won’t lie. It sort of stings to know that the first Riot guys I spent time with are now the Old Guard. But they’re also NOT, if that makes sense. They’re still very much involved and aware of how things go. They still have the ability and the desire to make things right. They just do it while guiding the next generation toward the right path.

And this is definitely the right path for Nickel and Ivy. While he does stick his foot in his mouth a few times at first, he’s also quick to jump in and help the woman he can’t get out of his head. And he’s also surprised by just how strong and resilient that woman is, especially when they partner up to get out of a very ugly situation.

Ivy is also sort of fantastic. She is strong and smart and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She also sees where this could head, so she hangs on and enjoys the ride to find out how she and Nickel might work together. Even when it all goes sideways, she’s all about everyone else and not just herself. So she’s the perfect person for Nickel and now I have to wait to find out what’s going on with his sister and someone she probably shouldn’t want….

Ivy, a real estate agent, discovers that her biological father is in her city and wants to get to know him. Ivy's character is remarkable and a perfect match for Nickle, also known as Ryan, in every way. When Ivy and Ryan are kidnapped together, they form a deep connection.

Ryan's laid-back attitude and emotional openness make him an easy -to -love character.

The chemistry between the couple is palpable. Ivy and Ryan's relationship is refreshing, and the ease between them is adorable and endearing.

The mystery and suspense keep things interesting. We enjoyed the witty banter between the triplets; they had us laughing out loud.

The story features fantastic characters, and the Biloxi brothers' visit adds an intriguing element. Lark remains a mysterious figure, but we are eager to uncover his secrets. Tundra, on the other hand, piques our curiosity, and we can't wait to learn more about him.

Ivy and Ryan's story is part of the Riot MC Next Generation series, but can be read as a standalone. Throughout the book, we found ourselves smiling constantly.

The third in this next gen series and I am here for it! I will say (like always) this series is better read after you read the OG series, now this is just in my opinion, if you want to dive straight in then go for it. The first of the triplets, Ryan/Nickel, gets hit with insta-lust the moment he locks eyes with Ivy. When the two end up in a situation together, the attraction just increases (for both) and they have to work together to figure out a solution (no spoilers). Now, Ivy is in the middle of something that she had no part of, and Nickel will do anything to make sure she stays safe. What happens when feelings start to get stronger? Will Ivy trust Nickel not to break her heart?

This was a great addition to the series, giving us the right amount of drama, danger, violence, and naughty bits that were smoking hot. I give this 5 stars.

Great story and characters.

Ryan and Ivy are great. Ivy's run in with Ryan though is not what she expected. When he blocks her from entering the bar to find her biological father, she is surprised to find out that Ryan wasn't the only one blocking her way. He's a triplet and luckily for her, there's only two that are males and their other triplet is a woman.

Ryan "Nickle" Garrison doesn't know why this woman is making him angry looking for Lark. He's not a man that is looking for a relationship, but for some reason this woman, Ivy, is making him crazy. They have a bit of things to work on, but they'll both find out that the reason they make each other crazy is due to the attraction.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the Next Generation Series, the characters are great and the books are action and suspense filled.

I’m love this second Gen of Riot MC series.
Ryan/Nickel is one of Gamble and Victoria’s triplets , along with the other 2 he is part of the management team at Larks Bar and Grill. Ivy is a real estate agent, happy in her little life with her mum, 2 besties. The only downside is her mum grieving for her stepdad which prompts her to want to find her Biological Father….. literally the sperm donor, her mum bought his , errr , deposit? From the bank .
That decision leads her to the bar, to meeting Ryan and Killian or was it Killian and Ryan … thankfully Mick is a girl . It’s the start of a mad few months

4 1/2 stars. I enjoyed this story. Ivy searched for her father and found Nickel/Ryan who kept her from him. Time passed, and then the adventure began. Ivy had not been prepared for what was coming, but I loved her acceptance of the circumstances but kept her mind on her job as well. She blended well with the MC. Ryan was very protective of Ivy, caring, and matter of fact when needed. Their journey was surrounded by family (nice to visit with earlier characters) and friends. I look forward to the next one in the series

I received a copy through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Loving this series!! I love that Ivy has the never to go looking for her spark donor. She doesn’t let anyone stop her….. not even the good looking guy who becomes her wall and won’t let her in. Only to find out he’s a triplet so now there is 3 of them to get through.
Ryan thinks she’s just another notch on his presidents bed post, but Ivy gives nothing away as to why she’s looking for his pres. things heat up fast when they are kidnapped. Will she make it out alive to meet her sperm donor?
This book is filed with everything you need! I couldn’t put it down!!

Nickle & Ivy

She was searching for her bio father but was stopped by two gorgeous biker and their sister. Not that she planned for anything to happen when the siblings kept her away. Their next meeting was behind a gun in the hands of two kidnappers.

Where does it lead from here. You need to read to find out. I loved every page. I strongly recommend you read and will as well.REREAD! 4/13/26

this series is amazing

I gave this a 4 star only because a major part was left hanging. Sig lied to his MC Pres and went after Nickel and his girl…..so what did his pres/ MC say or do about it? Any repercussions for Sig’s death? Volt had research done on Sig’s sister’s 2 boys that were killed.. what did he learn? You can’t have a major issue in a story left hanging.

Is this book believable? Ummm, no. I honestly found it hard to believe that Ivy and Ryan would be so nonchalant about the crisis they endured, especially Ivy. Did it make me want to stop reading? Heck no!!! I love this series, and found it intriguing, full of action and spice, and highly entertaining. Read this book, but try not to fixate on the minor leap from reality. Totally worth it!!

Nickel and Ivy meet under circumstances he's skeptical of. When both their lives are in danger she had no choice, but to trust him and that's when their story truly begins. Danger, twists, turns, steam, found family, familiar faces. This book has it all and kept me further pages.

I loved Nickel and Ivy’s story. Ivy’s search for her father throws her into danger and straight into Nickel’s path, forcing them to rely on each other. Their connection builds into a brilliant slow-burn romance, with plenty of action, drama, and tension, and a satisfying ending.

Wow. What a story. I couldn't put the book down once I started.

I loved Nickel and Ivy together. When they first meet Nickel is suspicious of her. Ivy was looking for her father, and she didn't expect what would come next. They form a bond and find love at same time.

I can't wait for more.

Another fantastic read from the word smith Karen Renee!! I am thoroughly enjoying these second generation books and this one did not disappoint! This book is Ryan and Ivy’s story and my Atlanta is their story a doozy! The sparks between these two are phenomenal but their banter is just as entertaining. Add in the Riot MC club and a few other clubs and you just know that this book is going to be a page turner! I already can’t wait for Ryan’s triplet siblings books to come out (no pressure)
