Ai Yazawa (Japanese: 矢沢あい, Yazawa Ai) is a Japanese manga author and illustrator. Her pen name comes from singer Eikichi Yazawa, of whom she is a fan. Yazawa started her comics career in 1985. She specialises in shojo manga (girls' comics). Most of her works have been serialised in the magazines 'Ribon', 'Cookie' and 'Zipper'. Yazawa's stories focus on young, often rebellious women and their relationships. The characters are always very stylish, and Yazawa herself is known for her sense of fashion. (She even attended a fashion school for some time after high school.) Among her most famous manga are Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (I'm No Angel, 1992–1995), Neighborhood Story (1995-1998), Paradise Kiss (1999-2004), and Nana (2000-2009), the latter awarded a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003. Some of these works have been adapted into anime and live action movies.
“Hey, Nana. If Nana’s story gets exposed, I know you’ll be hurt again. That’s why I’m not going to look for you anymore. But, I will keep on waiting until the day Nana can stand back up once again.”
"Hey, Nana... I couldn't see through to your loneliness that day, not because of the shades that shielded your heart. I idolized you, Nana. But my self-centred assumptions clouded my eyes, blinding me." -Hachi
this is literally getting more and more depressing every day. hachi is married to fucking takumi of all people, takumi sold her out to the press, the distance between nana and her keeps growing larger everyday and even shin is crying
“even now, while walking in the city, i occasionally still see illusions of nana when i pass by someone. but i keep on waiting until the day nana can stand back up once again.”
please, this is so boring, I don't care about trapnest at all & I definitely don't care about what takumi is doing, I just wanna see my girls being silly & raising a kid together.
The “Hey, Nana”s are getting sadder with every volume. 🥲 [Spoiler quote:] "Hey Nana... / I used to hear your songs in my head... / ...like your punk version of Tentomushi no Samba. / But now I can't hear anything. / I wonder if you don't hear my voice anymore either." 😭

This one definitely dragged more than some of the previous drama. Takumi is still gross. Reira is more interested in her career than in true love. Hachi is still being silly. Ren is still being a loser. I could go on and on. The thing that did surprise me about this volume was how Yasu behaved and went after that girl. I don't know I always expected more out of him and I just can't believe he asked her to be his girlfriend out of convenience. Even more so that she was like yeah that's great I'm super into the fact that you're so practical. Yuck! Not romantic at all. There should be some practicality, but that was just too much.
“Hey, Nana… I will wait forever for the day you get up on your feet again.” 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫 I am THIS CLOSE to googling the ending of Nana so I don’t have to suffer anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!
This volume was better somehow? It still had the same drama from previous volumes, but the drama and anticipation and heartbreak had good timing and emotional impact.
I'm scared by all the foreshadowed essages from Hachi to Nana, like they've been going on from the first time they met, and I just can't fathom what actually happened. and the rare glimpses we get every few volumes to the future are actually intriguing.
not my favorite installment-- this one seems to drag a bit, and nana & takumi's relationship drives me crazy...but i still want to know what happens next.
It's getting boring. I don't care about Trapnest or Takumi so it's a pain to read about them. It's missing the charm of the earlier volumes where we saw Hachi and Nana's dynamic. I started this manga to read about two women with a strong bond. It's straying further and further away from that and devolving into Days of Our Lives. eyeroll
I really wish I could give this a 4.5. It seems to be dragging out too much. It's like Hana Kimi. (*spoilers for Hana Kimi*) We know Sano and Mizuki are the perfect couple already, so just let them get together! The same is for this series. Just give them an ending already! Doesn't have to be happy at all, just and ending! I really want something definite to happen.
This series just has me yelling at everyone, usually at the same time!
Freaking Takumi, ugh. All my homies hate Takumi. I really need Hachi to get a backbone and step away from him... but that is not where this volume went, yikes.
(You ever try to hit Ctrl+Z while reading a book?)
Poor Nana's really going through it here, and she feels like she's losing both Yasu and Hachi... I know she likes Ren, but I don't think he's good for her. He's better than Takumi, but that's really not saying much.
This volume had more of a Shin/Reira focus, which I quite liked - I'm fascinated by these two. And the drama was really cranked up for them this time around! I'm excited to see more of it.
Also, Yasu/Myu is my favorite pairing in here to date. I just like them both a lot as characters, so their romance is lovely. And it's smaller characters, like Misato and Mari, who capture my interest, too. There's such a well done cast of characters!
finished this one a few months ago so i kinda forget what all specifically happened this volume.. but some thoughts:
yasu and miu are pretty cute i like them together, we’ll see how this goes
reira and shin 😢💔 listen i know i shouldn’t be rooting for them cos of the age thing, but they’re pretty cute together :’( and i like them both separately a lot, but sad ://
these future flash forwards (or at least i think they are ?) are really gettin me.. i’m getting anxious to reach the end lol
