Her Elementals #3

Water's Torture

Rate this book
She awakened the tide inside him. Now he’s drowning in everything he tried to forget.

I am Calder, a water elemental, a seer of shadows, and the reluctant protector of the girl who could either save our world or bring about its end.

For centuries, I’ve kept my heart locked beneath the surface, haunted by visions of what’s to come and the memory of the only woman I ever loved. I made a vow never to fall again.

Then Avani came aboard our ship—beautiful, bruised, and brimming with a power she doesn’t yet understand. She’s everything I was warned to stay away from. Fate-bound. Fragile. Far too tempting. I tried to keep my distance, but I failed.

Every day, she breaks through the barriers I built. Her touch, her gaze, her quiet strength draws me in. And when I shape water around her in secret, I feel it. Something ancient and powerful is stirring between us.

But my visions are never wrong. She’s tied to Sodon, the darkness we’ve feared for generations. And I’m the one meant to guide her toward it.

If I let myself love her, I may lose her forever. But if I don’t, the world might drown in what’s coming.

In Water's Torture, readers meet Calder, one of four powerful Elemental brothers. Start this steamy, why-choose fantasy romance series today and read about these men who train our heroine to master the universe's elements while all learning to open their hearts to love again.

Born at the stroke of midnight, Raven Steele grew up in a home bordering a graveyard as old as time. Ghosts became her only friends and whispered tales of a world that existed between night and day. In this place, monsters roamed the lands, magic curled in the wind, and good and evil fought over the hearts and minds of humans. Desperate to not let those dark and brave creatures be forgotten, Raven wrote down the words of the ghosts, knowing their stories of triumph and sorrow would give strength and comfort to those in our world.

And so, when the sun sets, Raven retreats to the cemetery at the edge of the woods, where she sits and listens to the dead speak their tales of Rouen and all of its inhabitants. Because one day, our two worlds may collide, and when they do, we must be ready. For when their darkness bleeds into ours, we will be fighting for more than our lives. We will be battling for our souls.

Raven Steele is a pen name to USA Today's bestselling author Rachel McClellan.

I enjoyed the story but please for the love of literature, edit the book more carefully… in the second book there were random name misspellings and in this one you kept changing which kingdom the FMC belonged to. On top of that Calder said Hurleys name to FMC and then in the second conversation when he referred to Hurley again the FMC said “that’s his name?” As if they didn’t have the other conversation. Overall I enjoyed the story, there’s probably plot holes but I’m not overly particular unless it’s blatantly obvious however the name mishaps stress me out and pull me out of the story so that will cost some stars. All that being said I’d like the next book because Hurleys book is the one I was more excited about 🥲

Water’s Torture #3 07/29/2025

Avani is in a mess she is now on her way to marry a new monster aboard a ship with a bunch of pirates. Not knowing the third brother is also there to see if she’s his fated mate to. Calder s not sure at first but soon believes it when she tells him she know who he is. Then her starts training her and when she saves him from a sea monster. But their trouble is just getting started. Then the fourth brother must step in to save her from another that ones to possess her.the book has some content that’s wrong I don’t know if the author got confused or what. Avani isn’t from kel she from Loren and her father and maid are being held in Kel this is done a number of times but the story is still good so enjoy!!

Variation on a theme. Like almost the exact same build up of spice to the point certain “milestones” occur at almost the same percent as the last two which is actually quite funny to me.

Continues to have continuity and name issues, needs a proofread. Also a little confused about problems that could have been solved with the use of air problems but instead Avanni just acts hopeless? On the water means ONLY water obvi. Also, sad to see the “touching the elemental gives a full recharge” thing that happened in the first book but that plot armor would be too powerful I guess!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I love the introduction of every new character and seeing how strong the fmc gets.

When the author forgets which town his heroine is from, it's emblematic of a deeper problem.
