Slow Air
Robin Robertsons new collection reveals the same talent we saw in his debut, A Painted Field. His main subject is his own detached, fierce, Scottish on landscape and sea, on love, sex, and violence. He uses language brilliantlydeadpan, tense, precise; unforgiving. Robin Robertsons first collection won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and really launched the Picador poetry list. It received tremendous reviews and Robin is a very well known name both as a poetry editor (at Jonathan Cape) and a poet in his own right. He is guaranteed coverage in the national press and should be very popular as a reader at festivals.

For everyone who loves authentic poetry, this is the book you need. Robin Robertson is a fine art craftsman of poetry. Here’s a book that has poems of all that you need.
.
What does the book encompass?
Robin Robertson’s ‘slow air’ is a literary masterpiece. This thin book comprises of long poems of authentic style. Every poem has hues to speak, tonnes to tell & a different identity. A must buy poetry book for the fans of Sylvia Plath. Every poem in this book is a intricately woven fibre which together constitute the book (a warm sweater). The poet describes situations like gold and jewels value in market.
.
Right from the cover derived from a painting from a popular museum depicting a shot goose to the interior and the poems this book needs to be in your shelf to add up it’s prestige.
.
Drawback
Few poems are clinched up with numerous phrases and ideas which can sometimes be difficult to understand. This isn’t a book for instagram poetry lovers as the poems are really long comparatively.

Robin Robertson never disappoints. A talent far removed from the modern Instagram poet. Meticulous, lyrical and complex - his poetry breathes a delicacy rooted amongst the pain and wonders of the natural world.

Some magical writing here. A huge talent.
Read
August 19, 2020As seems to be a pattern with the Robertson I've read, the poems pulling on classics (Ovid, Dante) are absolutely phenomenal.
