Love it! And love that volume 9 was like a super special gigantic edition somehow (like getting two volumes for the price of one). We're finally moving the story between Chae-Kyung and Shin along. As always, I just wish Shin had an easier time telling Chae-Kyung that he actually cares for her, rather than playing with her emotions all the time. It makes it hard for her to believe the truth of his random and few "love confessions." This volume continues with the investigation into the fire at the palace (where Shin becomes a serious suspect), and ends with the national TV interview where Chae-Kyung plans to surprise everyone by announcing her intent to divorce Shin. Though, of course, before we get Chae-Kyung's announcement, we get a live-televised confession from Shin announcing how much he genuinely loves his wife. We'll have to wait for volume 10 to see what Chae-Kyung does after hearing that confession... :)
It's been a year since their marriage and there's a celebration for the occasion. Not known to the public, the d-word has been a constant topic between the royal couple. Tho Chae Gyung is doing a good job as the Queen's proxy despite her lack of experience & knowledge.
This is where the Yen Press editions go double-size (including two of the Korean volumes), which gives a satisfying chunk of story.
Everyone suspects Shin committed arson on his aunt's home. The king reveals that playing around with maybe making Yul his heir is part of a complicated scheme to get revenge on his sister-in-law for ditching him for his older brother, although I cannot figure out why this scheme necessitated lying to his son and wife, who really deserve better. Hyo-Rin tells a newspaper reporter that Shin proposed to her a week before his engagement, trying to avoid marrying Chae-Kyung. Yul's arranged fiance shows up and is even more selfish, ambitious, and greedy than he is. I kind of like her.
I think it was around here that I was forced to give up my fondness for the repressed, bitter, intense love affair I imagined between the king and queen, who don't seem to trust each other but like each other enough for the queen to be pregnant. This only worked before I realized the king was a TOTAL ASSHOLE.

I liked this series for awhile but now its way to long. Seriously I skipped four vols and didn't miss anything. They are still doing the same things they did four vol. ago. Miss Park for the love of god end the series. Let the two fall for each other and end it with them grown up and in love or something!
