MISERY LOVES COMPANYPete has been missing for two weeks, and Kinn, Porsche, and the rest of the Major Clan are left to assume the worst--if Pete's mission spying on the Minor Clan has gone south, he's as good as dead. The Minor Clan never take prisoners, and their cruel oldest son Vegas is especially ruthless. Little do they know Pete is still alive, chained up at Vegas's mercy. He doesn't feel like he's been spared a worse fate, He'd take death over being forced to warm Vegas's bed. Or at least, that's how he feels at first. As he comes to understand Vegas better, and catches glimpses of his captor's softer side, Pete finds himself contending with unexpected feelings. But it's impossible for him to forgive a man who keeps him imprisoned and viciously abuses him...right?
Most of the book is told from Pete's pov with some from Vegas, Porsche and Kinn. Please bear in mind that Pete is being held against his will, so there is non con, dub con, violence etc, which may be triggering.
After some time of being terrified he's about to die, Pete softens towards his captor, helped with Vegas being more accommodating towards Pete's needs. It's not all sweetness and light, but I can see why Pete has mixed up feelings towards Vegas.
I will say that the highlight was the mix up over the body that is found. The major clan go all out throwing a funeral for "Pete" and the grief they shared was palpable. When Pete returned though... utterly hilarious. He's so loved!
I'm listening to all of these and hope for vol 5 in audio soon because they are so addictive.
I liked this volume but was a little annoyed I wanted more Porsche and Kinn since they are officially boyfriends now and Porsche is my favorite character. But there are more plots and twists that keep happening so it should be interesting on how it plays out and what the secret is.

I just want to say that this was a difficult, yet compelling volume to read. Still, there was a moment at the end when Khun is sending offerings up that had me laughing out loud. It is so ridiculous. Oh my lord.
There are two chapters about the main story Kinn and Porsche. This whole volume is a side story of Vegas and Pete. It's a chilling tale that you can't look away from. There is a little bit of Stockholm syndrome going on here. It's a brutal volume and told well. We see how emotions are so interesting and how powerful the call of freedom is. Here, we can hear the call of "FREEEDOOOMmmm" ringing out of William Wallaces mouth over space and time.
The story shouldn't be as enjoyable as it is. It's some dark stuff, really.
There are two chapters with Kinn and Porsche and I have to say that I'm so tired of Prosche. I mean, the way he goes straight to rage, it's so chaotic and annoying to me now. Chill out already. It's exhausting. He was grating me nerves here.
I look forward to the next volume. I have no idea where the story is heading in the future. Who knows what's going on. There is an ending, right? Will it go on forever. I'm about done with this world and I want and ending.
The way the feelings are conveyed by the characters in this story is beyond any “romance” I have ever read. The way Pete realized what he felt for Vegas as he knew what kind of person he was felt so close to home. This has to be the best book in the series. I would have liked it if the cover was Vegas and Pete due to the book being about them. This book changed me and I love it for it. Praise KINNPORSCHE

One star because romanticization of abuse. However, I cannot slate that I am not very interested in seeing the progression of this relationship, so two stars from the heart. But also one start, because romanticization of abuse.
