When trashy novelist Fannie Friedlander is killed at the Palm Springs Book Fair, Izzy and her friend Flo spring into action. Much to the annoyance of handsome Detective Martinelli, they launch an investigation of their own and their suspects are too close to home (or condo) for comfort. Will they find the killer before the killer finds them?

Or will Izzy's new Paleo diet get her first?

Izzy is really starting to grow on me. The characters are likable and the mystery was well done.

Murder and cards...

Izzy Greene is at it again! Izzy and Flo are trying to find out who is killing off members of their bridge group and why?

Izzy is funny, smart, irreverent and likable as usual. You never know what she and her best friend, Flo will do! The mystery was great and kept me guessing...all the red herrings were perfect!

I can't wait to read the next book!

Not Thrilled, But I'll give another book another chance.

I have been reading books in the "cozy mystery" genre for about a year and a half now and have loved most of them. I had to struggle through this one and kept thinking that this book was laid out exactly like some other authors I have read, none of which I was enthralled with. Because I always give people a second chance, I will read book#1 of this series when I'm up-to-date on a few installments of other series' which I 've been waiting for. I know my opinion doesn't mean much but I am very honest in all my dealing. I know the two Ms.' Selfmans are well-known and respected for their cozy mystery books and I hope that I am blown away by the first book in this series!

Isadora (Izzy) Greene is back for a second mystery. It's interesting that although Izzy and her best friend Flo live in a gated retirement village in southern California, another acquaintance of theirs is murdered. This fast paced cozy is both humorous and a well plotted story. There is a good list of suspects from which to pick, and the ending is exciting. Why is the title Murder By The Book? Well, Izzy's friend has had a novel published, but a TV appearance and the best spot at a book fair are supplanted by another first time novelist that neither Flo or Izzy can stand. When this "evil doer"is murdered, it actually makes Izzy and Flo suspects. Well worth reading!

I didn't want to ever put down this book, but I did have to cook for my family sometimes. Also take showers, you know, stuff like that. Sylvia Selfman really knows how to keep your interest! She is a fantastic mystery writer. I can't wait to read her next book!

I was really surprised to find out who the killer was! I would have never thought of that person. I felt like she would find out who the killer was but, DANG! That way??

Good, clean mystery - however, there were problems with spelling of names, name changes and typos. This book needed a good proof-reader (as most Kindle small publishers need). Luckily it wasn't enough to distract from the story. I think Izzy, Flo and Sherlock are great but I need to know the ages of Izzy & Flo.

Curiosity had killed the cat alright! Lead character makes me want to scream as she isn’t the brightest when it comes to her safety. She at least needs to carry a weapon or something with all the trouble she gets into! But love the snarky humor and her constant attention to food and fashion make me laugh!

I love the Izzy Greene series

I am loving these Izzy Greene books! There is plenty of comedy mixed in with the mystery to keep anyone flying through the books. When i finish one i can't wait to start the next one. Izzy is my new favorite heroine.

Seguindo um pouco a mesma linha de história do primeiro livro, Izzy volta a tentar investigar com descontração e pouca destreza, o assassinato de Fannie, a autora de um livro baseado em fatos reais. Uma leitura boba e divertida pra passar o tempo.

I really want to like this series... But did Izzy get even dumber? This series has so much promise, but it's hard to enjoy it when the main character is a ditzy, food obsessed crazy woman.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Her 15 minutes of fame just run out.

A great read but I gave it 4^ as I really hate it when the wrong names for characters are used. Sorry but I can put up with most proofing errors but that is a big no no. A great plot - a tell all book, a killer cupcake, a murder, blackmail and another death. Can she unravel the clues to get to the real killer and save an innocent that's been arrested? Or will she fumble and stumble until the killer tries to take her out? Great characters but wish the females weren't quite so man mad. Loved the fact that even seniors have their Mean Girls and backstabbing out front and centre. The plot really was a great piece and completely had me fooled.

What will happen to the senior snoop s this time

Has Izzy finally gone to far with her snooping. Another great read when a guess who book comes out telling all the buried secrets. Who will fall victim and who will live to be in another book. These seniors give you a real page Turner so sit back and loose yourself in this wonderful book.

Another okay cozy mystery, but it didn't really keep my attention. The characters are getting a little cardboard, and the story seemed drawn out. One problem is that this "senior snoop" act eay too young, and ALL the characters' attentions are predominantly focused on food.

And, yet again, the book could've used a final round of proofreading and formatting before the author clicked'publish'.

I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. Izzy is a unique character, who reminds me of several really nice ladies. Sometimes I feel like my future might have moments like Izzy's... Growing, aging, getting old, it should be something to enjoy. The author really shows us there is always a how" and we should take it, who knows what may come next.

Fun Read

Izzy continues her snooping in the second book of the series. She has a whole new adventure as she sets out with her friend Flo to get to the bottom of the book show murder. Everyone in her bridge group is a suspect!

This is an enjoyable book. The author is creative with making the characters likable, the plot good, and plenty of laughs. My only complaint is the minor editing errors, mostly with punctuation. Looking forward to the next book.

Palm Springs Crusin'

I certainly did enjoy Murder By the Book. It was fast-paced, entertaining, and had a fun heroine. What more do you need on a lazy afternoon?
