Yesterday’s Gone: Season 5 is the fifth novel and installment in the series. There are many turns and twists that one could not have envisioned at the beginning. Many characters have been transformed. Some have won. Others have lost. New characters have entered the struggle. The Light and the Darkness are caught in a perpetual battle that will decide whether the Aliens will call this place their home and work to terminate humanity.
Are the Black Island guardsmen liberators or enslavers? What will happen to Boricio, Mary, Paola, Luca, Brett, and Rose? Will they live or die? Suspenseful, and plodding, at times – the series still has me interested, and in fact has refreshed my faith in the series. The two middle seasons were muddled and disappointing, but this season demonstrates that not only is there still a story to tell, there is a new and clearer direction that must be travailed before reaching a conclusion to the conflict.
Season Five brings changes to the cast of characters we have grown to love. I won't give details, as spoilers are not needed. I will say that if you have not read the series, please do so! You will not regret it! Sean Platt and David Wright have proven themselves to be excellent storytellers. Even with a good story, it is essential to have characters you can love and despise at the same time. Believable characters who are vulnerable, loving, mean, and menacing. Sean and David have done exceptional work in weaving these ordinary and extraordinary characters into a story that never gets dull or predictable. I love this series of books!
eh. its just getting sloppy. You die, you come back, you're paralyzed, you can walk, you die again - maybe for real, maybe not. Its dark, its light - and I don't really care. Can't wait for John Connor to show up and lead them to victory against the machines in episode 6...

Season Five continues to hold my attention and leaves me craving more action and looking forward to next unexpected twist that plague the unlucky (and sometimes lucky) characters. I did feel that I would have been satisfied with the series ending with Season Three, but the authors brought me back in with Season Four and Five.
There are a few new characters introduced including, Marina, Arthur, and Acevedo. Marina suffers an internal battle with the death of her father who founded the Church of Original Design and the message he leaves her regarding the vials and their importance. She joins with Father Acevedo at the request of her father and they begin the search for the vials together before meeting Ed Keenan and his partner Luther, who are also looking for the vials. Boricio Wolfe unites with Rose and despite their blooming relationship, his brutal history of serial killings remains unknown to her as well as his current purging sessions. Paola discovers that she has The Light within her and tests the theory by vising a local hospital and healing a child with a broken leg in the emergency room lobby. She ages into a young woman and Mary desperately looks for help in getting her little girl back.
There is one flaw that left me disappointed in Season Five. This book was not edited well and there were numerous grammatical errors and character name swaps that left me rereading some sentences a second time to sort out what I had to then assume had happened. I would have given this book a 5 out of 5 stars if it had been edited better.
-----Currently listening at the 5:30 hr. mark. EVERYTHING is going bad, going wrong and very depressing. Even Luca sucks big time now, WTF. Not a fan of stories where all goes bad for the good guys until the end. %98 aggravation with %2 relief. I'll check back at the end. ------7:25 mark and I'm back. MORE horrible awful things have happened and I am NOT enjoying this at all. At least Tom Cruise got what he deserved. 2B continued. ----------- Just finished. Things never got better. If it could go wrong/bad it did. People we liked a lot became bad guys. People we and they loved died for no reason, That was 10-12 frs (I forget) of a depressing listen. All I can hope for is season six makes up for all that gut punching I took in this one. I really mean it, if this is a continuation of "everything sucks for the good guys and great for the bad guys" right up until the final 1/2 chapter, I'm giving the last two books one star each. Look I understand there has to be ups and down, highs lows in all good stories, but those stories where it's all bad guys winning when in the last 5 minuets the good guys pull victory from defeat is NOT my kind of story or fun. Life's tough enough. I read to escape into a good story.

Season 5 of Yesterday's Gone rebounds nicely from two very ordinary seasons. The series burst out of the gate with a load of action and suspense, not to mention the great character Boricio Wolfe. Seasons 3 and 4 brought new characters and some drastic change to existing characters, and the story suffered as a result. The chemistry between the characters wasn't the same.
Season 5 was able to recapture some of what made the first two seasons so good. The race between The Light and The Darkness to find the remaining vials intensifies, and the old gang of characters return to the forefront as they battle to save the planet. Season 5 started slowly but ended spectacularly.
Most of our favorite characters lived on to show up in this book,we meet a couple more but a few new additions are always welcome.
Aliens attacked the old earth in a very violent way, they wanted to take over earth but they attacked as monsters,or really large venomous dogs. In Season 5 it is a new earth, same aliens. This time the aliens realized the hard violence was not the right way.So they choose to infiltrate the minds of influential people there by reaching out to more people. And silently taking over.
Some people you've grown to really like die.Already got the sixth and last season.:)
Once again Platt and Wright put out another amazing story!!
I have loved reading this series but each season seems to outdo the last. The world building is amazing, the characters are flawed, relatable, and you either love them or hate them. This book can have me laughing out loud at Boricio’s wit or pouring tears because a loved character has been consumed by darkness or died. I can’t wait to start the next season.
Almost finished with the series and can't wait to see how it ends! If your looking for a story that is no holds barred, encompasses aliens, plague, religiosity, and exetentialism this is for you! The writing is well done and the plot is interesting. However, be forewarned that the authors do not subscribe to mainstream writing mores and you might be shocked at some of the scenes. This is not for the cozy clubbers.
The tempo that was picked up in season four is still running strong in this one. There are a lot of characters here, there and everywhere and honestly it’s confusing who is where. In saying that it is a great read and fast paced.
Five seasons in, the thriller series is not getting less complicated! But it's not getting less interesting either.
At times, the book got me scratching my head, trying to remember what happened in the past and who did what and how that affects the present moment. But mostly in a good way. It's a complex story line and *a lot* has happened since the world changed in October 2011.
What I've always loved most about the story is its characters and how real they feel. This continues to be the case in this fifth episode too. The authors keep helping us bond more and more with the cast and... killing them.
If you are just finding the series, you are in a great place as you'll get to experience the adventure back to without having to worry about forgetting the details in between books. If, on the other hand, you have read the series this far, this is a no-brainer. Get the book, read it, and join me in waiting for the final episode. I have a feeling that that one will be spectacular.
It's been a while since I read the first 4 books in the series, so the prologue providing a quick recap of what has happened was appreciated if a bit overwhelming; thankfully, previous events were mentioned throughout the narrative to help tie everything together and keep it all from being a confusing mess.
This book is the second to last in the series and provided a lot of action and advancement of the story. If you are expecting all of your favorite characters to survive, well, this is a CI title so that ain't gonna happen. I was a bit surprised by who made it and who didn't, and the chaotic conclusion to the story left you scratching your head a bit until the great epilogue rounded out the minor arc for this book and setup the final battle between "good" and "evil" in the final book.
Will definitely be picking up season 6 as soon as it's available.
First three seasons of this series were fantastic. No. 4 was a bit of a let-down. Number 5 was OK till the middle, but towards the end the authors somehow lost themselves (and readers) in a pretty jumbled, chaotic and not very original plot. The ending seemed rushed and forced as if authors couldn't wait to present a cliffhanger leading to season 6. If you read (or watch) many serialized works you know that there are such lower than average seasons, but after seasons 4 and 5 I believe this series should end on season 3. Authors are recycling many ideas and with time rading becomes tedious, and the story draggs out. Sure, I love Boricio (who doesn't?), fight with the creepy darkness, but I don't think this needs to continue for another season. Just saying of course :) The entire series is still more than decent and entertaining dark SF treat which I recommend.
I would love to see someone pick this up and make it a television series! It's that good! It would ***HAVE TO*** stay true to the books though, because anything less would not be the same.
Once again, I'm sucked in and living right there with the characters, stuck between The Light and The Darkness! I have never had so many WTF moments while reading a book or a series as I have had with this one. Talk about cliffhangers!! lol
If you haven't tried the Yesterday's Gone series yet, please pick it up. Read it. You'll love it!
I wish Season Six was out and ready for me to read.. lol
A non-stop adrenalin rush. Nothing else describes this series. The Darkness has managed to infiltrate more than anyone could possibly imagine. Those thought of as friends are a lie, and those that are, well they are getting killed or taken over.
I am going to need a vacation after this. Just reading the story is like being in it. Can you make it through the series without a break? You must give it a try!!
Yet another great book in this series. I'm excited for the final one, but also sad that it is going to end too. These are the first books that I've read from these authors and I can't praise them enough. The range of emotions I've gone through with each of the characters is something that I rarely experience when reading books, I usually either like or dislike a character but there are a couple of characters that my feelings change towards - usually within each book!
As with the previous seasons of Yesterday's Gone, I was thoroughly entertained. There were some areas where the story line seemed to get confusing but all in all, I still love this series and yes I will stick around for Season 6. I am one of the faction who is lobbying for a 7th & 8th season! 5 big stars!
Season Five is another fast-paced adventure from the Yesterday's Gone series. Ignoring some of the editorial errors, this is just as amazing as the previous four. It kept me reading, eager to find out what happens next. There were several surprises that I simply didn't see coming, leaving me slack-jawed at the end. Season Six, here I come!
While the first three seasons were my favorite, season five was still highly entertaining. Season four was my least favorite, although I would still give it four stars. I'm really looking forward to the sixth and final season, which I'm about to start right now.
Another great installment. I can not wait for the finish. This one did leave me wondering a bit. There are a few scenes in which someone dies but then somehow reappears. They are unexplained and confusing to the story.
The seasons are heart wrenching but you can't put them down good guys are bad guys and bad are good guys you know which way is up keeps you glued to the page
This season kept me wondering where everything was headed! I love that none of these have been predictable at all! There were quite a few shocking moments, and I can't wait for the last season!
If you haven't read Yesterday's Gone, do yourself a favor and dive in. Great characters, lots of action, a very enjoyable read. Looking forward to next season.
This series is turning into a sci-fi horror soap opera with crazy plot turns and people coming back from the dead, never really resolving anything. It's starting to get on my nerves.
