Ricky Hatton's Vegas Tales

Rate this book
Ricky Hatton's brilliance as a boxer, his down-to-earth demeanor, and his live-wire sense of humor have made him a national treasure. Five of Ricky's biggest and most explosive fights took place in the boxing mecca of Las Vegas. Tens of thousands of British fans followed him there each time to watch these monumental bouts, and to soak up the unique atmosphere in Sin City. After the fights, the fans—and Ricky too, for that matter—liked to avail themselves of all the "hospitality" that Vegas has to offer. The result, very often, was frequently epic binges of excess. Ricky's Hatton's Vegas Tales is an anecdote-driven romp through the highs and lows of his fights in Vegas, and the utter insanity that preceded and followed each fight. What goes down in Vegas, stays in Vegas. . . until now!

My Rating: 4/5 stars!

Great, effortless read perfect for boxing fans (and specifically Ricky fans) who wants an insight into one's career in this industry.

Hatton is a surprisingly funny guy. Wouldn't have known that quality of his if I hadn't read this book, and only went by what I've seen from him during his fights and training camps. He tells of his stories whilst he was in Vegas in a light-hearted, good humored way. The way he reminisces and describes events in detail reads like it happened just yesterday, and not 10 or so years ago.

Enjoyed getting to know his start to the sport and the people he met along the way that's made an impact in his life.
Also liked that he included other boxers, trainers, promoters, and people from his team (past and present) to add some of their thoughts and memories of certain events from their own perspective. Especially for certain controversial events that happened during his boxing career because it gives you alternate sides to the story even though this book was first and foremost Hatton's experiences.

Viva Las Vegas

A book full of funny tales from Ricky's fights in Vegas. Tales full of celebrities glitz and glamour all told with humour. Alongside the funny tales is a good insight into the training that Ricky did for those Vegas bouts. Definitely worth a read if your a boxing fan even more so if your a fan of Ricky Hatton

Entertaining read, though slightly repetitive.
A great trip down memory lane from my trips to Vegas to watch Ricky in 2007 & again in 2008.

You have to be a real boxing fan, and probably a Hatton fan to read this, and I am. The book goes into real detail about certain fights and his experiences in Vegas.

An interesting, light-hearted look at Ricky's finest moments in Las Vegas and the surrounding jokes and ceremony. Though he spends over 6 pages moaning about Joe Cortez's refereeing performance during his fight with Floyd Mayweather, Ricky comes across well throughout, and you wish you were one of the 35,000 fans tearing up Vegas on fight week.
There's only one Riiiiickyyyy Hattonnnnn!
