Midnight Captive

Rate this book
“For those who enjoy their romantic suspense on the dark and steamy side,”* here’s the blisteringly sexy new novel in the Killer Instincts series by the author of Midnight Action and Midnight Pursuits...

Former CIA agent Bailey Jones has spent months trying to forget her night of passion with mercenary Sean Reilly. An elite and methodical assassin, she has no room in her life for a reckless, rule-breaking Irishman, and she’s vowed to steer clear of the tempting bad boy who lured her into his bed under false pretenses.

When Sean is implicated in the robbery of a Dublin bank, Bailey knows something isn’t right. So what if she can’t trust him? There’s no way Sean would end up on the wrong side of the law. In fact, he’s stuck in the middle of a dark and dirty conspiracy that could put his twin brother’s life at risk with one wrong move. And Bailey’s life too when she agrees to help.

As the stakes are raised and Bailey finds herself torn between two brothers, the fine line between danger and desire is crossed…and it’ll take more than a killer instinct to survive.

4 Holding Me Captive Stars

I’ll admit, I wanted to read this because Elle Kennedy wrote The Deal. Yes, it’s a different genre, but I do love these suspenseful novels, so I dived in.

Midnight Captive is a standalone novel and is book 6 in the Killer Instincts series. There is some slight overlap from the previous books, but Elle does a great job in re-telling that I was never lost. In this series, she kind of writes like J.R. Ward. There’s a main story and there’s a side story with two secondary characters. It’s a little foreshadowing for the next book. I really liked this because the next one will be a M/M read. But I digress.

Bailey is no damsel in distress. She’s trained, strong and was once an agent. She can disarm a man in seconds and doesn’t need anyone controlling her. Let’s recap. Sean and Bailey had a crazy wild night. So Bailey was dating Sean’s twin, Ollie. Sean has a thing for Bailey and when Sean shows up at Bailey’s front door, Bailey thinks he’s Ollie and they have sex.

Bailey finds out afterwards and you know how it goes. So it’s five years later and Bailey sees Sean in the news. Sean is robbing a bank!

But not everything is what it seems.

I was really intrigued with the beginning. I was wondering why Sean is robbing a bank? Does Bailey really not know it was Sean she was sleeping with? Will Bailey forgive Sean?

It picks up around the 30% mark and a lot of questions were starting to get answered. The book shifts and all of sudden Sean needs Bailey, it’s a matter of life or death.

Bailey grees and she has to pretend to be Sean’s girlfriend! Oh how awkward, yet how fun! Of course there’s lingering feelings. Of course there’s tension and of course it’s really good to read. Sean still cares for Bailey and he tries to push her away, but he’s feelings are very strong. Bailey wants Sean, but she’s tired of dating men that control her. She’s her own woman.

I won’t go away until I know everything about you. I won’t go away even when I do know. I’ll always be here, and you will let me in

Running away isn’t going to change what this is. You can hide from me, but we both know it won’t work, Bailey. Because I’m with you even when you’re alone.

Midnight Captive is full of action and plot twisting moments. This is the first book in the series I’ve read, but I assume a lot of the characters are from previous books. I liked that even though I haven’t read the series, I could follow along easily. So much happens in this book. There are a lot of things Sean has to do that Bailey doesn’t agree with and it adds a lot of drama.

Midnight Captive is an action-pack, slightly suspenseful read. It’s fast-pace, engaging and a little steamy.

Bailey Jones is ticked at Sean Reilly ever since they slept together months ago. Yes, she’s attracted to the irresistible, and incredibly sexy Irish operative, but Bailey doesn’t go for the cocky, dominant sort of male Sean is. Plus, he went to bed with Bailey under the impression she thought he was Oliver, his twin. Bailey actually knew he was Sean, but still. So, yes, she’s still pissed, but that doesn’t stop her from dropping everything to come to Sean’ aid when he’s seemingly involved in a bank robbery.

Sean could care less about IRA politics, but his father’s old gang blackmails him into joining up again by kidnapping and holding his twin brother, Oliver captive. Oliver is his only family and Sean would do anything for him, so he’s stuck in between a rock and a hard place which is made even more complicated when Bailey barges in insisting on helping. The last thing he wants is for Bailey to be in danger, too. He cares for Bailey and has been hung up on her for years, but he feels like he ruined everything with their oh-so-hot, but disastrous night together. He can’t get her off his mind, but doesn’t want her anywhere near the thugs Sean’s got to deal with now. But Bailey isn’t a defenseless woman, and she needs Sean to realize she can take care of herself and be an asset.

I loved Midnight Captive! As usual the story was nothing but excitement, danger and twists. Of course the smoking hot romance was a big part of why this story will send you pulse racing! Hot, hot, hot!! Sean and Bailey’s romance was full of pent up longing and hurt on both sides, but there was no mistaking these two were meant for each other. No one else could push each other’s buttons like they did, and when Sean and Bailey were in a room together there was no mistaking the uptake in heat and sexual tension. I can’t stand love triangles, so I was a little worried that there would be one with Oliver, Sean, and Bailey. I was relieved to that wasn’t so. No love triangle.

I appreciate that Elle Kennedy makes her women just as badass as the men whether it’s fighting or covert operations, they’re all a force to reckoned with! Both Noelle and Jim’s crew (which are all comingled now that the two are married, yay!) are loyal to the core. When one’s in trouble the others rally and rush to aid. And so not only does Bailey come to Sean and Ollie’s aid, a good portion of the crew come as well.

I’m sad to have finished Midnight Captive because now my series binge read has come to an end, and I have to wait until February for the next Killer Instincts novel! While Sean and Bailey have a nice, very satisfying ending there are other romances in the works. It looks like we finally get Derek’s story next in Midnight Revenge, but Liam and Sullivan’s has been brewing through Midnight Action and Midnight Captive. I’m wondering if their romance will be resolved in the next book or if they’ll get their own story? There were also seeds planted for Cate (Morgan’s daughter) and Ash, the new rookie of the team. I’ll say a prayer for Ash because anyone brave enough to go after Jim Morgan’s daughter will need it, lol!

Bailey Jones and Sean Riley were introduced in the last book when the group was aiding Morgan in the rescue of his daughter Kate. Bailey was hostile to Sean because Sean impersonated his twin brother Oliver and slept with Bailey. So Bailey didn’t want anything to do with the man deceived her by pretending to be someone else. I will admit that I was slightly annoyed because I was expecting Sully and Liam or at least Derrick’s story. But I gave this story a fair shake. I enjoyed it less that Morgan and Noelle’s story but it remained consistent in plot, execution and romance.

In the beginning, the group finds out that Sean is back in Ireland robbing a bank with his old NRA crew and Bailey decided to go to Dublin and rescue Sean. Bailey had some issues with Sean, but she felt obligated to find out why Sean would resort to something as reprehensible as robbing a bank.
In addition to Bailey, Morgan sends Liam, Sullivan and eventually Isabella for back up to extract Sean.

Upon their arrival, Bailey learns that Sean’s twin Oliver was being held hostage and as leverage to get Sean doing whatever he was instructed. Soon Sean found himself caught in the middle of a decade old leadership feud.

I had a problem with Bailey. I found her to be a coward and a hypocrite. It was revealed very early on about the circumstances regarding that fake out the night Bailey slept with the man who was calling himself. It was clear that Sean carried a heavy amount of guilt and continually apologized but Bailey never passed up an opportunity to needle him about it. She had so many opportunities to acknowledge her own part in the fiasco but Bailey let Sean take full responsibility for it. I liked Sean. He was sweet, reliable, and patient. Bailey could have had a good man if she just could admit it to him.

I didn’t care for terrorist story that much, but it allowed the reader to get some background information on Sean and twin brother Oliver (5 mins apart). It also showed that Sean was a good man who cared about others but wasn’t used to people caring about him. Bailey was secretive and full of double standards. She was merciless to the man she would admit inside her head that she wanted. Sean was steadfast in his desire for her. Bailey admitted that Sean pursued her before she went out with Oliver. I just didn’t like her false righteous indignation act.

The writing remained consistent in this book and the pace was fast. There was a lot of action and there were sexy times too. While the writing was good, I just didn’t really care about the couple since they felt new to the gang.

My favorite part of this story was learning that Noelle is now a Morgan and the Sully-Liam interludes. What a nice set up to their book. I am looking forward to Derrick’s book as it has been a few books in the making. Then hopefully the Aussie and Boston will get their time to shine.

My favorite quote:
“Liam dug into the bag and pulled out a small penlight. Smirking, he flicked it on and shined it right in Sullivan's face. “All right, Aussie, follow the light.” The light sent another shooting pain to his temples. “Turn that f@cking thing off.” “We need to check you for a concussion.” “I don't have a concussion.” “You were unconscious for thirty minutes and you've got an egg-size lump on the back of your head. Though it'd probably be twice the size if your skull weren't so damn thick. Now, follow the light or I might decide to rip those stitches out and redo them.” Scowling, he humored his friend and followed the bloody light. “Any dizziness? Nausea? Double vision?” Liam prompted as he clicked the penlight off. “Nope. Because I don't have a concussion.” “What's the date today?” “October sixth – wanna know how I know that? Because I don't have a bloody concussion. So take off your Florence Nightingale panties and pull on your man pants...”

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

Well I have been missing out because clearly Elle Kennedy is awesome. I have found a new series to obsess over. After reading Midnight Captive I know I am going to have to get my hands on the rest of the series. This book is action from beginning to end, with great characters, and steamy romance. You really can’t ask for more.

Bailey is a strong woman and I loved her for that. She doesn’t need anyone to take care of her and she prides herself on that fact. She is kickass and tough and sarcastic and a great character. At times I wanted her to open up a bit, but I got it. Her life hasn’t been easy and you can’t blame her for being the way she is.

Then there is Sean and holy crap is he to die for. He is strong and smart and impulsive and caring and sweet in his own unconventional way. He is alpha without being an asshole and clearly he is devoted to Bailey. I really liked the role reversal here. Sean wanted Bailey and wanted more in terms of a relationship…. Bailey was the one who kept running from the attraction. And dayumm the accent he has is just *sigh*. I also loved watching Sean get cranky because for whatever reason it made me laugh. Sean would try to protect the people he cares about by not involving them in his problems, but then they wouldn’t have that and smacked him with a ton of nope, Sean would then get exasperated and cranky and I would chucked. Bailey especially pushed his buttons like this and I loved that.

Bailey and Sean have some serious chemistry. Those two go from fighting to well… you know…. in about three seconds and damn if it wasn’t incredibly hot. Their attraction is off the charts and they are so good together. They make such a deadly couple and that thought makes me irrationally happy. I loved these two.

This book was absolutely addictive. It was so hard to put down. I kept turning page after page and just when I thought I was coming up on a stopping point, something else would happen that would keep me turning pages. The action is crazy and I loved watching Bailey and Sean be all kick ass. I mean Bailey snapped a guy’s neck with her bare hands at one point… it was awesome.

Midnight Captive was a crazy good read and I cannot wait to make time to go back and read the rest of this series. There are so many characters I need to get better acquainted with now and I’m really bummed I didn’t discover this series sooner. So if you haven’t started this series yet, you should join me in my newest obsession.

Really enjoyed the dynamics between Bailey and Sean, although I have to admit that they were nowhere as enigmatic as Trevor and Isabel or Noelle and Jim.
I'm really excited to find out more about this thing about Liam and Sully though. Please, Elle Kennedy, don't do them any harm!!
Oh and I'm not sure wth I'm supposed to do with my life now that I'm all caught up on this series. How will I wait until 2016?! HOW?!

3.5 stars-I like it, it just didn't ring my chimes as much as the earlier books. Bailey is kind of a bitch and she doesn't really start redeeming herself until nearly the end of the book. And she's not even a cool bitch like Noelle, she's just mean, which is a total turn off for me. So that's why the lower rating this time. Hopefully D's book will be better.

Okay I read Sean and Bailey's story like a good girl. Even though I couldn't have cared less. Now give me Sully and Liam's story! We've been teased long enough! I really hope their story will be book 8. Otherwise I will be pissed.

You may or may not remember that time last month when I sat aside every other book I needed to read and review and binge-read Elle Kennedy's Killer Instincts series. I do. Very well. It was the first time I realized just how much I LOVE romantic suspense when it's well-written. And, my friends, Elle Kennedy writes FANTASTIC romantic suspense.

Midnight Captive is exactly the kind of fast-paced, edge of your seat action I've come to expect from Elle and the Killer Instincts series. I really liked the characters. Sean was Alpha and Irish and all kinds of hot. He was also in some serious trouble in this book. Bailey was feisty and fierce. When she stepped in to help save Sean, I cheered. I couldn't wait to see these two together. And boy, I wasn't AT ALL disappointed. They had loads of sexual chemistry and the banter between them was great. In a twist from the usual in romance, it's Sean who goes after Bailey with all he has... and Bailey who isn't looking for a relationship. I loved watching him slowly chip away at her walls.

There's just so much good about this book (and the series as a whole). I find myself completely wrapped up not only in the main characters and the dynamic between them, but in the phenomenal secondary characters. (Who, I hope, one day, will all become main characters in their own book.) There are so many different types of relationships explored in this series and that, combined with the action, makes this series totally unputdownable to me.

Ok, I'm not going to tell you what happens in the epilogue of this book. I'm just going to say that I am STILL in full on freak out mode over the thought of what's to happen to a character I've really grown to love during this series. (The author's Twitter response about how I was going to hate her when I saw what he got himself into is also a HUGE cause for concern.) I've watched this character grow – and have flipping amazing sexual chemistry with another guy in this series – and I need a good resolution to his story. So yeah, as much as I'm anticipating the next book (and freaking out because it's sooooooooo far away) I'm also really nervous to read it.

But you know what? That's a sign of a damn good romantic suspense series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Even though she doesn’t really trust him, Bailey knows that Sean wouldn’t end up on the wrong side of the law and rushes to help only find that she’s crossed the fine line between danger and desire and it’ll take more than a killer instinct to survive in this exhilarating romantic suspense.

Fiery sparks, emotional angst and smoldering passion consume the reader as they get caught up in the dark and edgy passion that flows from the pages as Bailey and Sean fight their way through a deadly game of survival as well as their explosive romance. The attraction between Sean and Bailey sure isn’t a problem as there is certainly enough sparks to set off a nuclear explosion but trust is a major issue in this relationship which leads to some pretty combative clashes between the two. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of suspense, action and passion while the strong compelling characters hold them hostage from the very beginning.

There is never a dull moment as the Sean and Bailey become caught between two major bad guys and the danger escalates adding lots of excitement and tension to the story and then for additional spice Liam and Sullivan have some turbulence between them that could possibly ruin their friendship as neither knows how to handle what’s happening between them. The well written scenes and details paint vivid images that places the reader right in the middle of all the action while the well-orchestrated events ensure that the readers can’t put the book down.

Warning: This book contains some serious issues to be resolved, lots of sizzling passion, sparks flying in every direction and explosions not to mention some tough as nails, kick ass characters that get the adrenaline pumping and they certainly guaranteed that I would be back for more.

Book 6 in Elle Kennedy's Killer Instincts series focuses on Bailey and Sean. We've met these two briefly in the earlier novels. Bailey is one of Noelle's girls, a chameleon and assassin and Sean is a dealer of information. The book starts off running with Bailey infiltrating a bank robbery planned by Sean's contacts over at IRA Dagger. The action continues throughout the book as Sean is forced to work for Rabbit O'Hare. The stakes increase when some jostling for power occurs and Sean is approached by Rabbit's enemy, Flannery.

Wow. This book was action packed. I just could not put it down. Not only do we get to watch our lead couple finally fall in love, we also get a little Liam and Sullivan action as well. There are also updates the reader on the previous couples in the series.

The romance aspect was well done. Sean and Bailey have a history and Sean was a little underhanded in his pursuit of Bailey. Sean pretended to be his twin Oliver and managed to sleep with Bailey. He is torn by that action and has never admitted to Bailey what he had done. Both characters carry emotional baggage from their childhood. They have to work hard on their relationship. The sex scenes were hot.

Midnight Captive was an exciting read, perfect for summer reading. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, check out this series.

Liam and Sully?! When do I get to read their story?! This is torture.

I hoped this would be D's story.

What I hope will be the next couples:

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Thrilling and captivating novel in the Killer Instinct series. This series continues to stay great with each installment.

Opening Sentence: “Being a hermit isn’t healthy, you know.”

The Review:

Midnight Captive is a “captivating” and thrilling installment in the Killer Instinct series. I couldn’t have asked for a better follow up to Jim and Noelle’s story. The Killer Instinct series has be my favorite consistently awesome contemporary romantic suspense series that I am currently reading. I’m not a huge fan of contemporaries but this series is one I definitely recommend.

Bailey Jones is enjoying a much needed vacation when she sees something startling on TV, a bank robbery. Normally, that is something that she wouldn’t pay much attention too but when she recognizes Sean Reilly’s voice and posture as one of the robbers, she knows something is not right. Bailey ends her vacation early and heads to Dublin, Ireland to get the story behind Sean’s new job choice. Bailey really has no reason to drop everything for Sean. She holds a grudge towards him ever since he pretended to be his identical twin brother and they slept together.

Sean is even more baffled by Bailey’s appearance as much as he wants her there he needs her to leave. He is being blackmailed but he’s got it handled. Now, Bailey has just added more complications into his plan. Sean’s past has come back to claim him. He has no desire to go back to the Irish Dagger but with death hanging over everyone’s heads that he is close to. He has no choice but to help them and their agenda. Sean ends up being a pawn in a deadly game played on two sides.

Bailey calls in help from several members of the Morgan/Noelle team. We get to see some favorites with D, Liam and Sullivan. Also, the Liam and Sullivan relationship dips into more awkwardness. I’m really enjoying the mind games between these two but I can’t believe Liam did what he did. He is having enough problems with his attraction towards Sullivan and he crosses the line like that… oh my. There are multiple POV’s including Liam, Sullivan, Sean and Bailey.

Sean will not make it easy on Bailey. He knows the kind of attraction they share and he does everything that he can to prove how well they are together. Sean is an alpha male and that scares Bailey. She is done with men thinking they are in charge of her and so she pushes Sean away. Bailey would rather be alone then give in to Sean. Bailey is a kick-ass woman but she does have her emotional problems. All, I can say about Sean is yum. Plus he’s got the wonderful Irish accent to boot.

There are a lot of secrets and lies in Midnight Captive. I was actually surprised by some of the revelations. I figured it would be the standard fare but it wasn’t and that I why I loved this story so much. There was only one thing about this story that I felt was a bit of a letdown and that was because I figured Bailey’s past would be more of a problem. Emotionally it was but it was Sean’s past that really came into play with this novel.

Overall, Midnight Captive was an awesome read. It was funny, terrifying, shocking and even held a few surprises. This novel could be read as a standalone but I don’t recommend it. Get to know all these wonderful characters by starting from the beginning. You’ll enjoy Midnight Captive so much better because of it.

Notable Scene:

“It’s late, so why don’t we get right to the point?” Sean slid of the couch, like a lazy cat with no care in the world. “I’m not apologizing for breaking into your safety deposit box. I had my reasons and I stand by them.” He smiled. “I’m also not going to return your property.”

Flannery’s answering smile was indulgent, genuine even. “Is that so?”

“Oh, that is so. Very, very so.” Sean marched up to one of the bodyguards, and with lightning-fast speed, he grabbed the guy’s rifle.

He didn’t disarm him, though. Bailey’s breath hitched when Sean brought the muzzle of the gun to his own forehead.

“Go ahead and order your man to shoot.” Sean was speaking to Flannery, but his gaze remained locked on the eyes of the man with the gun.

Sweet Jesus.

Sean Reilly was insane.

Next-level, cuckoo-crazy insane. Bailey fought to control the fear racing through her bloodstream as she watched the standoff in total astonishment. The bodyguard was as confused as she was, his gaze darting to his boss as if to say, What the fuck do I do?

“Come on,” Sean coaxed in a low, soothing voice. “Do it. Tell him to pull the trigger. You’re not going to get what you want from me, so why waste everyone’s time?” He pressed his forehead into the gun barrel. Calm, defiant. “What are you waiting for? Kill me.”

FTC Advisory: Signet/Penguin provided me with a copy of Midnight Captive. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

This has become one of my most anticipated romantic suspense series! In times when I thought the genre just couldn’t pull me in as before and there wasn’t anything that stood out, Elle Kennedy has a talent for writing characters that pull you in no matter where the story goes. Of course, it helps that the stories usually keep me flipping pages as fast as I can.

I first fell in love with Sean and Bailey in MIDNIGHT ACTION and have been impatiently waiting for their book because of their history and their bantering! And let me just say they did not disappoint. This book starts off with Sean made seem like the bad guy and Bailey wanting to go help save his ass from maybe going to jail.

Their fire continues to grow the more time they are stuck spending together and while they solve a predicament they are in. But what I loved the most was the fact that as much as both of these characters are so kick ass, they both showed a softer side. With their past, with their faults, and they both had enough courage to admit to those things and open up to the other. They were just so perfect together!

My only complaint with this book was the lack of communication between Sean and his brother that kept him thinking he was in the wrong for pursuing his feelings for Bailey. I think Sean would’ve been even more aggressive had that been off the table and with no misunderstandings.

It’s been a while since I’ve pulled an all-nighter reading a book, and MIDNIGHT CAPTIVE was one of those. I started the book late one night and couldn’t put the book down no matter what my eyes thought about it. The story kept me riveted with the fast paced storyline and the sizzling chemistry between Sean and Bailey was, as always, off the charts. I can’t wait to see who’s next and where this series goes! But I know one thing for certain, this is definitely not a series that will be dying down any time soon because it just continues to get better every time!

Maybe 2.5 stars. I can't really say I even liked the overall story because Bailey's continued way of comparing Sean to the men in her past. It got annoying and I wanted it to end. The suspense was pretty decent but I just find it annoying how an author has to create that type of conflict in the story between the hero and heroine. It is a terribly annoying plot device and one of my least favorite. That is what I really like about Pamela Clare. She can write a RS story without that plot device to keep our h and H apart. It's tedious and makes for a very frustrating read. I don't want frustration when I read a book.

Of course, there was also the ick factor

I loved Sean, on the other hand. I think he deserved better than Bailey. It wasn't a matter of him not thinking Bailey couldn't take care of herself. It was that he loved her and didn't want anything to happen to her. Bailey could never see that. I guess because she had nothing to compare it to, but that just added to my frustration. Sean may have used his fists when he was upset about something but never, never, with Bailey. That is the big difference right there.

So, I can't say I loved this book and I have to say that heroines like Bailey and some of the other chameleons are not my favorite. It's not that I want a spineless wimp of a heroine but I want one that doesn't mind her man taking care of her every now and then. :)

Its a book about Bailey Jones, one of the girls from Noelle's team and Sean Reilly, one of the wonder twins(LOL!)

Sean had joined Jim Morgan's team and then Bailey sees Sean robbing a bank in his home town and is sure that something is not right. She jumps in with her instincts and she is not far from being right.

Sean is stuck. He doesn't care about the IRA politics but they have his twin, Ollie and he has to do what they say. And then Bailey jumps in and so does his friends from Morgan's team. He is not used to so much support and love and he becomes overwhelmed.

From the synopsis itself we can make out that Sean and Bailey have history. And that confuses Sean and he keeps thinking that Bailey loves his twin and there is a bit complication. Bailey doesn't know if she should trust Sean who is the gang's member now. She has her own trust issues as well and she always resists to ask for help due to her own past. Together with flaws how they take down the gangs is amazing to read.

It is a great novel with the mix of suspense, mystery and romance! And great side story and characters.

Finally got this review up.
I wasn't very thrilled I mean it was a great story I just wanted more. Bailey Jones is one of Noelle's chameleons she used to work for the CIA until things with her old boss got complicated. She and Sean have history and when they saw each other in other stories but the tension was there. Sean had feelings for her as soon as he saw her but Bailey was into his twin Oliver. When Sean's brother is being helped captive until he does a robbery job for some bad people bailey shows up thinking he needs help. Both have gotten the wrong idea of each others relationship but Bailey is just stubborn. They are perfect together unfortunately she knows that but refuses to give anyone power over her when Sean just wants to protect her. When things get risky and now Bailey's mother life is on the line both of them start to work together to keep everyone one safe. I liked this story Liam and Sully oh I am rooting for them. They do get their happy ending but it leaves you on the edge fo your seat waiting for the nest book.

REVIEW:
I loved this book and I'm obsessed with the Killer Instincts series! This series has hot alpha men and strong women. Their stories are action packed with smoking hot romance. I love a great romantic suspense and the Killer Instincts Series captured and held my attention from start to finish. I started at the beginning and binge read the entire series. "Midnight Captive" is part of Elle Kennedy's Killer Instincts Series, but it can be read as a standalone. I recommend the entire series though. "Midnight Captive" is Sean and Bailey's story. I fell in love with Sean. Hot alpha male with an Irish accent. Need I say more? Yum! If you haven't read this series yet go grab them and have a a great binge read.

While I liked where Sean and Bailey ended up relationship wise, the journey to get there was long and tedious. I hated that Bailey lied to herself about her feelings for Sean and made him the bad guy, hated more that she knew certain actions of hers really did a number on him. It sort of made it surprising that she changed her mind in any way.

I actually found myself more intrigued by what was going on with Liam and Sullivan. I was glad that Liam had to face Sullivan and think about the kiss, was stunned at the action that Liam took to help Sullivan, more stunned with what he proposed to Sullivan. I thought Sullivan did the right thing by turning it down, his prediction would have come true.

since finishing Morgan and Noelle's book every couple falls short for me because I love those two badasses so much everyone pales in comparison. nonetheless, Sean and Bailey are fab too, just not enough to rival Morgan and Noelle. enjoyed every bit of the story. now I need Liam and Sully's story, demmit.

This has become one of my most anticipated romantic suspense series!  In times when I thought the genre just couldn't pull me in as before and there wasn't anything that stood out, Elle Kennedy has a talent for writing characters that pull you in no matter where the story goes.

I think Sean would've been even more aggressive had that been off the table and with no misunderstandings.

It's been a while since I've pulled an all-nighter reading a book, and MIDNIGHT CAPTIVE was one of those.  I started the book late one night and couldn't put the book down no matter what my eyes thought about it.  The story kept me riveted with the fast paced storyline and the sizzling chemistry between Sean and Bailey was, as always, off the charts.  I can't wait to see who's next and where this series goes!  But I know one thing for certain, this is definitely not a series that will be dying down any time soon because it just continues to get better every time!

Freaking Elle Kennedy. Seriously. No matter what genre she writes in, she knows how to turn up the heat and create some pretty intense chemistry. Throw in some crazy action, hot assassins, and Irish mobsters, and I sure am not complaining!

Elite assassin Bailey Jones has done everything she can to forget her one hot night with Sean Reilly, especially after he tried to pretend to be his twin brother to get together with her. Try as she might, though, Bailey can't stop how hot and bothered she gets just thinking about Sean. So when Bailey figures out that Sean is part of a bank robbery in Ireland, Bailey knows something is up and drops everything to go help him. Sean doesn't want Bailey's help, though, especially if it means putting her in danger. Too bad Bailey isn't the kind of girl who needs protecting…

First off, I loved Bailey's character so much. As a female assassin, she's got to have some backbone, and Bailey was definitely not the damsel in distress kind of girl. Bailey can take care of herself and will do anything to protect those she cares about. I loved how useful she was to Sean and how much she actually helped to get him out of trouble. It was fun to see how impressed they were with each other's under cover skill and how they really started to like each other more and more for reasons that went beyond their undeniable chemistry.

Of course, it wouldn't be interesting without some animosity between our two main characters. Bailey tried so hard to push Sean away, but how can anyone resist someone as tempting as Sean? It was so sad when Sean would push Bailey's buttons because she was hurting him on purpose, too. Ugh! Just be with each other! It's what you both want! So while they were frustrating, it just made you want them to get together that much more.

If you can't tell, I loved Sean and Bailey's story not only for the passion but for the action as well. There were some heart pumping moments and I definitely didn't know how they were going to get out of each mess they got themselves into. Every romantic suspense fan has to check out Elle Kennedy's Killer Instincts series. With hot assassins and seriously sizzling chemistry, you definitely won't be able to put them down!

Bailey, aku ingin menyukai dia.

Storyline mereka cukup sederhana.

I won’t go away until I know everything about you. I won’t go away even when I do know. I’ll always be here, and you will let me in
Running away isn’t going to change what this is. You can hide from me, but we both know it won’t work, Bailey. Because I’m with you even when you’re alone.

My rating :
Star : 3.7/5
Bikini : 3/5

Sean O'Reilly and Bailey's story. As the series goes on I find I'm getting angst-fatigue. Have any of the members of the two groups had anything like a normal childhood? TBH I'm getting to the meh stage: child abuse? Meh. Spousal abuse? Meh. Living rough on the streets as a prostitute? Meh. Etc.

I am also increasingly of the view that the anticipation and the glimpses into the next book (or the one after) are more intriguing than the book itself. Every time. Half of me wants the Liam /Sully story and the other half doesn't want a t spoilt.

So, Bailey is watching TV when she sees Sean involved in the robbery of a Dublin bank. She rushes to rescue him only to find that Sean is playing piggy-in-the-middle with two Irish gang lords, one of whom has abducted his twin Oliver. I really enjoyed the suspense story as Sean and Bailey tried to play one off against the other but I didn't really feel the romance. Sean felt inconsistent, I know we were supposed to see it from Bailey's perspective and then hear his side but it didn't really work for me.

So, is the next book Sully and Liam or the D? Could be both if Elle is worried about a m/m book
