For someone who sometimes reads my reviews knows that I have a weakness it sports romance. I also have a huge sentiment for the Play by Play series. I am delighted that it continues. We again have a new wonderful athletes family, Cassidys! And great and warm relationships.

"This is where I belong, Aubry,” he said as he moved within her. “This is where you belong."

***Quick Review:***

Series: This is the tenth book in the Play by Play series. But books related to Cassidys family starting at the ninth part - Quarterback Draw. You can start from there. Although each books have small allusions to some of the characters from the previous parts, the book can be read as a standalone.
Grade: Erotic and Sports Romance
Main characters: Tucker Cassidy, baseball player, pitcher in the Rivers. Aubry Ross, begins career as a doctor, the daughter of the owner of the St. Louis Rivers.
Secondary characters: As I said, wonderful new Cassidys family. You can count on a great relationship between siblings and a lot of fun!
Steamy: Yeah. A lot hot scenes.
Sensitive topic:
Love triangle:
Cheating:
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

For who I would recommend? For someone who like sports romance with lots of sex scenes.

***

About the plot: Tucker and Aubry meet in very unusual circumstances. He is, in a not so subtle way, treated with knee by his - at this point - ex-girlfriend at a party owner of the baseball team. With the help of the aching testicles, arrives beautiful doctor Aubry Ross. They have along some sudden interaction at the party, which end an unsuccessful attempt to call for a date. Destiny however, has a different opinion to this topic. A short time later, Tucker again and again hits into the hands of doctor Aubry.

“So on the ‘occasion’ that we both have, I’d like to take you out. At least to thank you for being so concerned about the well-being of my testicles.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever been asked out quite that way before.”

“I’m nothing if not unique, Doc. So is that a yes?”

“I have a terrible feeling if I say no that you’re going to end up in my ER again.”

When he finally manages to invite her on a date. In a perfect healthy, by the way. They start seeing each other. There is a lot of second thoughts. Romantic dates. Hot nights. There also will be held with small problems. In fact, a normal relationship.

Final thoughts: That is exactly what this book is, normal relationship. A really great start. I was laughing so much! Poor Tucker had a few times to hit the ER to convince beautiful lady to date. And it was great dating. Romantic beautiful and fun moments. We have here a lot of hot sex scenes. They played a great time in bed and beyond. In the middle of the book, unfortunately, it was a bit boring. I waited for something to happen. Luckily at the end we have some action! And I would forget, I miss the epilogue!

I very liked the characters. The relationship between the siblings gave us a lot of fun. I love those moments when they give each other hard times.

“Yeah. She’s a hell of a lot smarter than I am.”
“Yeah, well, who isn’t?”

It is a fun, simple and hot. Fans of the series should be "oh so satisfied", I am!

Next in the series? Yes, of course. Tucker twin brother, Barrett Cassidy!

All Wound Up is my third book from the Play-By-Play series. All of them can be read as a standalone and you can read them out of order (I did that).

All Wound Up is Tucker and Aubry’s story.

Aubry is a doctor. Her father owns the baseball team and because of that, she has no intentions of dating a baseball player. She’s 100% focused on her career and she wants to save lives. Tucker is a baseball player. His team is owned by Aubry’s father.

When Aubry and Tucker first meet it was very funny and I laughed out loud. Tucker got kicked in the nuts and Aubry (the professional she is) insisted in checking Tucker’s injuries. Tucker is fascinated by Aubry and wants to pursue her. Aubry doesn’t want to date a baseball player.

I’m a fan of the Hero chasing after the Heroine. I like how professional Aubry was and I liked she is really career oriented, but not in a stuck up way. She strives to do her own thing and not be part of her father’s business life. She is a Daddy’s girl at heart though.

Eventually Tucker gets hurt a few times and he sees Aubry again. It’s really funny. I love how Jaci’s books are witty and light-hearted.

There’s plenty of steam in this book. Lots and lots of steam. Even though Aubry and Tucker work out in bed, there’s plenty of personal stuff they need to work through. Aubry must find a balance between work and personal life. Tucker needs to balance his baseball career, his family and Aubry’s not so happy father.

I connected more with Aubry than I did with Tucker. I liked Tucker overall. He is sexy and who doesn’t like a baseball player, but I’m not a super sports fan, so there’s plenty of sports talk to give you a background in his field. If you like baseball players, then this book is for you.

I haven’t read that many books in this series, but I did like reading the side characters. It makes me want to go back and read their books. I like that Jaci continues the other stories so you can see where they are at currently.

Like I said, the book has a lot of steam with a career driven oriented main-characters. There’s plenty of tension and stuff to keep you interested. This is for a sports fan romance reader.

An ARC was provided.

Disappointed with this, it would have been far better with a little more story and less sex!.....There are not many books that I wish the sex was toned down but sadly this is one of them. There was no real romance going on between these two, I didn't feel a connection therefore I just found the sex scenes as boring and ended up skipping them towards the end! Shame as I love Jaci Burton......Although I wasn't bowled over with this one she is still a favourite and auto-buy author.

I absolutely loved every single thing about Tucker and Aubry's romance. I love Aubry is working to become a doctor and Tucker is a MLB pitcher, so each of their crazy work schedules totally and completely work for their relationship. They had pretty amazing chemistry from the moment they first met and it only grew stronger the more time they spent together. Seriously they had some smoking hot love scenes going on in this book, which I've come to always expect from a Jaci Burton book.

My only issue with anything in the book was Aubry's dad treating her like she didn't know her own mind and wasn't an adult when it came to making choices. I seriously wanted to throat punch him for being such a tool to both is daughter and Tucker. I liked how Aubry responded as soon as she discovered what had happened and loved how Tucker stepped up in the end.

I love getting to spend time with so many of the members of the Cassidy clan in each book, and have found myself falling in love with each of the members a little bit more with each book.

Decent, workmanlike story wrapped up in layers of (rather repetitive) sex. All of this leading up to a rather predictable climax.

I had read the first few books of the 'Play by Play' series, but gave up on it due to the heavily gratuitous sex to story ratio. All Wound Up had a little more storyline than I remember; but it was a routine, predictable story. I would have liked more sports in a sport story.

All Wound Up is book ten of the Play by Play series. This book was a quick read with a heartwarming love story and lots of family sass.

Tucker is the only Cassidy boy to follow his love for baseball and not pursue a football career like the rest of his family has done. He’s the star pitcher for The Rivers baseball team. He’s worked his ass off to get where he is in his career and he’s finally accomplished all he’s hoped for. He’s a caring, sweet guy who is so easy to relate to and a huge strength in this story.

Aubry is a doctor who is extremely dedicated to her career. She has no desire for a relationship at this stage in her life. And when the time comes for her to make a commitment to someone, it won’t be a baseball player. As the daughter of the owner of the team, she’s been around them her whole life and isn’t impressed with what she’s witnessed.

After several mishaps that land Tucker in the ER and in Aubry’s care, their desire for one another can’t be denied. All she’s looking for is a few fun and sexy nights with Tucker. He has an entirely different game plan. He’s determined to show her how to let go and have fun. I loved how creative Tucker was on his dates with Aubry. I loved how persistent yet understanding he was with her. And I loved their connection and journey as they become a couple you just want to root for.

As with all the Play by Play books, family is a huge part of the story. It’s great to catch up with characters we’ve previously met and reconnect with their lives. I also loved the new characters that we have to look forward to reading more about. The banter between the Cassidy family members was so funny and so relatable. It added another layer of love to the story.

My only issue I had with this book was really the originality of the conflict plot and how they handled the situation with her dad. It was a typical parent interference scheme that has been done and re-done so many times. Her dad didn’t want them together and threatened Tucker with trading him if he didn’t call it off. The reason wasn’t because he didn’t like him; it was because Aubrey couldn’t balance her career and a relationship. My dislike really stems from her father not having a solid reason for his concern. They were both well set on their careers and were managing everything just fine, so it felt off balance to throw this at them. It didn’t sit well with me. I also didn’t like the way they dealt with the situation. I don’t want to get into a lot of detail and give anything away, but I just didn’t care for this particular conflict/resolve.

I love Tucker and Aubry together. They shared with us a funny, sexy, engaging story that kept me turning pages. I just wish the last few chapters were done differently. It was still a good story and it held my attention, it just wasn’t my favorite in this series.

This book is another one featuring a member of the Cassidy family. This is Tucker and Aubry's story.
Tucker is an up and coming baseball pitcher with the St.Louis Rivers team. Clayton Ross is the owner of the team and Aubrey is his daughter.
Awesome first meeting.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.”
“I see you’re starting to feel better. That’s a very good sign. But no, I’m not showing you mine. I am going to look at yours, though. And in your weakened condition, I’m pretty sure I can get into your pants.”
“Okay. Fine. You’re really a doctor?”
“I really am. So drop ‘em and let’s take a look at the goods.”
He reached for the zipper of his pants. “If I had a dollar for every time a woman said that to me …”

They are having fun and enjoying each others company. All the witty conversation definitely ups the enjoyment factor.
“Great. I’ll be back in an hour and a half, and we’ll go get something to eat. Then we can talk some more. Or argue more if you’d like.”
“I don’t -”
But he’d pulled her against him and brushed his lips against hers. “I like arguing with you, Aubry. Let’s do that some more. But while we’re eating. I’m hungry. See you soon.”

I wouldn't say this book blew me away, because I would have loved a little more substance and more obstacles for Tucker and Aubry, but it was far from bad to and really did have some great moments.

What happened with this book???? There was very little substance to this story. I'm shocked by how unoriginal this plot was. Aubry was a horrible character who would say one thing and then act and do another. There was very little to their relationship than sex. The book is full of sex. Which wouldn't be an issue if we got a good story to go with it. Worst of the series.

This is my first Play by Play novel, but despite being number ten in this long-standing series, I wasn't about to turn away from a sexy baseball star. For starters, baseball = arm porn (in my mind, anyways). But I'd heard such good things about this series of inter-connected standalones, I knew I wanted a taste. And what a taste it was!!

Tucker Cassidy is having a bad night when he meets Dr. Aubry Ross for the first time. After taking a hard shot to the balls, Aubry's on hand to make sure the damage is minimal. And now, he wants to see more of her.

Aubry is far from in the market for a relationship. With work keeping her busy, and her experience growing up around the players in her father's baseball team, the last thing she needs is a man like Tucker.

When repeated run-ins bring them face-to-face, Aubry finds that saying no to the funny, sexy and kind pitcher is harder than she thought. Except when her father -- Tucker's boss -- makes his disapproval known, they have to make a decision about their future. Will Tucker choose the game or is he too wound up in Aubry to let her go?

Well, I entered this series with a bang. A hot, sexy bang, at that. I really enjoyed All Wound Up, for the sweet, flirty and dirty relationship between Aubry and Tucker, and for the genuinely fun interactions between Tucker and his brothers and teammates.

There was a lot to like about this book. The story was simple enough, and perhaps a touch predictable, but it was, nonetheless, well-written and absorbing. I raced through this book, loving each page as Aubry and Tucker hit their stride.

It was never too overwhelming for someone unfamiliar with the previous characters and their stories, but had just enough to peak my interest about the early installments in the series even further. I'm 100% on board with starting back at book one now!

Tucker was one sexy man, too. I found a picture not long before I started this book and damn, if it didn't fit this pitcher to a T. Glasses, lean, built body. Yum! I had all kinds of delicious visuals to go with his dirty words and kind, supportive nature.

I may know next to nothing about baseball and this series but I know I truly enjoyed this story. With just this quick and easy taste, it's definitely whet my appetite for more! ~ Beth, 4 stars

Sports, love, lust and laughter…

Tucker Cassidy is from a football family that reads like an NFL who’s who, so he still gets teased for being the baseball player in the family. That doesn’t stop him from pursuing the sport that he loves though and his star is rising with his team, the Rivers. He’s working on fame and fortune but he’s already winning the ladies.

When Aubry Ross finds Tucker after being dumped by his latest flame, his embarrassment is only rivalled by his attraction for her. Yes, their schedules are crazy and family pressure is nothing to sneeze at, but if they both are happy with their relationship, that’s all that matters. Isn’t it?

I really enjoyed this latest story in the Play by Play series. Tucker is sexy and irresistible as Aubry tries, unsuccessfully, not to succumb to his rugged charms. They both have reasons to keep each other at arm’s length but the physical attraction is hard to ignore while they both start actually liking each other as well. Agreeing to casual only, when they meet up it’s rarely mundane, whether it’s a very different first date or an impromptu encounter during working hours. And it’s also hard to hide…

“What I mean is there are red marks on your neck, and you’re wearing a post-sex glow on your face, not an I-had-an-awesome-chicken-sandwich glow.”

With humor galore and sexiness to spare, there are lots of good things to like about this story though the story lacked a bit of the sparkle that others in the series seemed to have. Still one of my favorite sports series, and I hope there is more to come. ~ Diane, 3.5 stars

Jaci Burton is back with another story to melt your heart and other things! Yes book ten in her Play by Play series takes us right back into the heart of the Cassidy family but this time it's not a football playing brother it's Tucker the talented baseball pitcher and he is going to become the standard you hold up when you next select your favourite book boyfriend!
Tucker may be a hot shot on the field but he's no slouch off it either. Now if he could just let his rather pushy girlfriend down gently then maybe his night would improve . So not going to happen though as she may be a bit tipsy but her aim is dead centre and unfortunately for Tucker that's enough to bring tears to his eyes! When the daughter of his teams owner finds him bent over his night gets worse because not only is she a doctor who clinically handles him but she's also quite a looker and right now that's the last thing his poor abused body needs!
Aubry knows just what jocks are like and let's face it players are well frankly players! Sure Tucker is kind of cute with his Clark Kent glasses and fit (really fit) body but no she is so not interested and besides working in the emergency room is a full time job. Maybe someone should tell Tucker that though as he keeps showing up and he's funny, he's definitely sexy and somehow his charm is impossible to resist . Aubry deserves some fun and boy is Tucker keen to show her a good time but playing for keeps? So not going to happen or is it?
I love this authors sport romances and her hero here is just so very sweet. Tucker might come from a footballing family but he holds his own and it was really interesting reading how the dynamics in his family played out. He stands firm and never backs down and that's just what Aubry needs in a guy even if at first she doesn't realise it!
Aubry is consumed by her career and if honest loves it! The pace , the action and the payoff all make her constant exhaustion worth it but a certain persistent pitcher keeps showing up. Aubrys a grown up and needs a little rest and recuperation and Tucker seems onboard to help with that but he turns out to be addictive and soon Aubry starts to consider that maybe she could have more in her life than just her work. Unfortunately there's a rather large fly in the ointment , her father is rightly proud of his girl and you just know that no guy is ever going to be good enough !
Wow this couple just sizzle and from their first night together it's a wonder they don't set the pages on fire! I am loathe to say chemistry as that sounds way too clinical for what this couple have going. Tucker is probably a bit too perfect but I can't fault the author for wanting to give her readers someone to drool over . Although I hasten to say my favourite moments undoubtedly had to be the interactions within the Cassidy family with their teasing and I'm fairly sure that Tuckers twin Barrett will be starring soon in a book readers will be anxious for . A sports romance to warm the hardest heart and as usual Ms Burton proves she is herself at the top of her game . This family are such fun to read about and although it's not an action packed story seeing this couple discover their intense feelings for each other made this reader smile and so will many others I'm sure. A cute couple and a satisfying romance, Ms Burton take a bow and thank you so much for yet another delicious cover!

I feel like I say this before every sports romance book I review, but I am total sucker for a good sports romance. There's something about athletes that is just so attractive, so I love reading love stories that involve them. Jaci Burton is already on book #10 in her sports romance series and while I have really enjoyed the other books I've read, All Wound Up missed the mark for me.

Tucker Cassidy has been lacking in the love department lately, especially after his girlfriend dumps him after he refuses to move in with her. But when he continues to bump into the beautiful Dr. Aubrey Ross, who is also the daughter of the owner of his baseball team, Tucker isn't going to let her get away that easily. Aubrey has enough going on during her residency and the last thing she needs is a relationship distracting her, or so her father says. But when the gorgeous Tucker Cassidy lands in her ER, Aubrey finds herself falling for the hunky baseball player and, try as she may, she just can't resist his persistent charm.

Going into this one, I was super excited. Out of all of the sports, I love baseball the most, so I was excited that Tucker was a baseball player. Sadly, he was preoccupied with the same things about his pitching and it just got annoying by the end. I enjoyed the moments of the baseball games that we got, but I wish he wasn't so hung up on his curveball. His baseball storyline just seemed a bit flat and not that interesting to me. Also, what Aubrey's father did near the end just seemed cliche and thrown in there for drama. I wasn't a fan of that added part of the plot.

Onto the romance, I loved how Tucker and Aubrey met and how much they liked each other when they didn't want to. However, a lot of their romance was just focused on the physical part and I could have done without the constant sex. Give their romance a little more substance and focus a little more on their actual relationship and not only the physical side of things!

In the end, I just wasn't into this book as much as I wanted to be. The romance started off great, but nothing really developed more and we didn't get a real depth to the characters. While Jaci Burton is a great author, this wasn't her best.

Again ... only a few thoughts because a million people have already reviewed lol

Back to #CoverWins lol ... this covers just screams sexy which is very in tuned with the book. LOVE IT!

This story was fun and flirty and sexy and really really enjoyable until the conflict. Then it just got ... dumb lol Maybe its because that's an overused conflict in sports romances, i dunno, but it felt really ridiculous. And it wasn't just so much the actual conflict, but how our hero dealt with it that was ... dumb. It didn't quite mesh with the persona already created for him so his character faltered a bit there. It was resolved really quickly (maybe too quickly) so it didn't have time to ruin the overall book itself so I'm still extremely happy with this story! :)

Jaci Burton is one of the only authors who's sports books I can read. She puts in just enough so that you get an overall feel for the sport, but doesn't try to go into so much detail that the story gets lost, or even worse, you can tell the author knows nothing about the sports they're writing about.

Aubry has grown up with baseball her entire life. With her father being being the owner of a professional baseball team, how could she have not? But she's always tried to keep her life separate from the sport. Until she meets Tucker - a player on her father's team. Through multiple run-in's, the two finally connect and it's clear that there's chemistry. But something is holding Aubry back and that's her career. She's working toward becoming a doctor and she doesn't have time for a personal life. Just ask her dad.

While this wasn't my favorite of the series, it was enjoyable. I didn't feel any real attachment to Aubry as she seemed very unemotional. Her mind was on one thing and she was kind of a bitch to Tucker when he was just trying to get to know her. And I'm sorry, you're a grown ass woman. Tell your father to butt out of your personal life. If you want to date someone, you should be allowed to. You're not in high school where your parents control your life. And I think that was my main problem with her. She gave into her father time after time.

Tucker was your typical ball player romance lead. There was nothing really special about him that stood out but I enjoyed reading about the times with his family. So overall, a good quick read, but nothing really special was brought to the table.

Audio files provided by Tantor Audio for review. No remuneration was exchanged and all opinion presented herein is my own except as noted.

With one of the most unusual ways of introducing the novel’s love interests ever, Burton gets this tale off to a start laden with sexual innuendo. The plots in the two books in this series I have read both feature women reluctant to be in a relationship for professional and/or family reasons and professional athlete brothers.

In this book the athlete, Tucker, bucked the family standard of football to become a baseball pitcher and he has made it to the major league. It always seems to me there are two vaunted players in baseball: pitchers and hitters. That means Tucker is a big deal.

In the previous novel I listened to – or read, the female love interest was a model raising her siblings, in this the female love interest, Aubry, is a doctor doing a residency in emergency medicine. We all know how much new doctors have to study and what long hours they work.

Aubry’s owns the Tucker’s team. He’s kind of overbearing when it comes to his daughter. He wants her to focus on her career. Her mother, on the other hand wants her daughter to find love.

When Tucker and Aubry get together it is so they can have some sexy fun as friends and not get entangled in a relationship. Yeah, how much does that ever work in a book, or real life? I’ve never understood why people would believe they could do this for any length of time. Friends are people we care about and whose company we enjoy. When you mix sex and friendship the caring has a tendency to grow into romantic love; often more for women than men as women are traditionally more likely to be labeled as “easy” if they have no strings attached sex. We even label ourselves with the sobriquets provided by society.

In contemporary steamy romance it is often the guy who develops the romantic love faster than the woman. I don’t know if women or men usually get attached fasater in relationships, or if it is evenly distributed. But, the stereotype is that women are more interested in commitment than are men. So why the difference in writing steamy contemporaries?

As someone reading/listening to steamy romance with a critical eye, I think it is a device that makes the story a more fulfilling fantasy read. After all, who doesn’t want to fantasize about a handsome, wealthy guy who wants to commit and is great in bed?

A non-romantic theme in this story is Tucker becoming completely comfortable with his career choice. His family is all about football but he is a baseball player; a path he chose. Why is he the maverick in his family? His family is pretty cool though: they are close with lots of ribbing, and loving parents.

An important aspect of the story is pressure from Aubry’s father to stay single and focused on career and being persistent in that belief in both his speech and his actions. He is helicopter-parenting her but she is not a child. He gets pretty down and dirty about it.

Aubry and her mother both see this controlling nature but never imagine he would act on it. It feels like something different from the keeping the daughter a child trope. But it does seem to have wormed its way into how Aubry thinks about relationships.

Each person in this relationship has to come to terms with career versus relationship. Both are very busy and work hard in demanding fields. Can they make it work? The action in the romantic aspect of the story is written with Burton’s usual dexterity; and the characters’ own dexterity comes into play.

It takes some time for the couple to hook up in the biblical sense. This is one of Burton’s strengths in writing erotic romance: she gets us interested in the characters and their stories and not just what they do in bed.

The narrator does a great job with Aubry’s character, Tucker and his brothers sound a little too dumb jock stereotyped; or perhaps that’s how the narrator perceived the male characters. I’ve often noted male narrators making female characters too breathy and dumb, and female narrators make male characters’ voices sound deep and dumb.

I enjoy the series for it’s heat and for the way characters overcome relationship obstacles. In this case I am surprised the good doctor doesn’t resort to giving her father a good kick in the pants!

All Wound Up by Jaci Burton is a sweet yet steamy addition to the Play-By-Play series. This installment pairs up baseball player Tucker Cassidy with Aubrey Ross, an ER resident and the team owner's daughter. The sparks fly at their first (unorthodox but funny) meeting but neither has the time to date. Or so they keep telling themselves...

Tucker is a pitcher for the St. Louis Rivers and while he is having a stellar baseball season, his dating life is a different story. Since he spends so much time on the road, he is not particularly interested in anything but casual relationships and this decision is quickly reinforced when his latest fling comes to a very painful end. He is immediately drawn to Aubrey but he has his work cut out for him convincing her to go out with him. Tucker is quite charming and sexy and while he has plenty of confidence, he is not arrogant or overbearing.

Aubrey has been concentrating on her career for so long that she cannot remember the last time she went on a date. While she is instantly attracted to Tucker, she has no interest in dating a baseball player. Despite everyone's encouragement to give him a chance, she steadfastly refuses to go out with him. But, after careful consideration, Aubrey decides it is time to make time for a little fun, so she finally agrees to go out with Tucker.

Tucker is very creative with his plans for their first official date and despite her initial hesitation, Aubrey is soon enjoying herself. Their attraction for one another is scorching hot and their sex scenes are incredibly sensual. While they do not define their relationship, Tucker and Aubrey spend most of their free time together. Despite a few bumps along the way, they settle fairly easily into their new relationship. Tucker and Aubrey quickly resolve most of their issues early on, but late in the story, lack of communication and outside interference threaten to derail their romance.

All Wound Up by Jaci Burton is a light-hearted and engaging romance. The plot is a little predictable but this does not lessen the overall enjoyment of the story. Tucker and Aubrey are mature and well-adjusted characters who know what they want out of life. They are a fun couple and it is absolutely delightful watching them fall in love.

Although this is tenth installment in the Play-By-Play series, All Wound Up can be read as a standalone.

Summer is all about heat and baseball so All Wound Up is the perfect read for this time of year! This is the second Play-by-Play book that I’ve read by Jaci Burton and I have to say, I am big fan. I thoroughly enjoyed this one because while it is steamy, and hot as hell, it also has a good storyline with two strong, likable characters in Tucker Cassidy and Aubry Ross. They compliment each other perfectly and their chemistry is off the charts.

“I told you I’d been in a drought, didn’t I?” Aubry

“Yes. I believe you mentioned that.” Tucker

“So, you just happen to be the person to make it rain for me.” Aubry

I absolutely loved the way Tucker and Aubry met and from that moment on I was hooked. Contemporary romance books that balance humor, sexy time, and a well developed story really make me want to go back to that author for more. Jaci Burton has proven time and time again that she can write up a hot athlete who isn’t all jock and nothing else, as well as a heroine who is strong, intelligent, and not your typical damsel in distress. Baseball player meets beautiful doctor who also happens to be the team owner’s daughter? SOLD!!! I loved the premise and I loved the slow burn buildup up of their relationship. It is sexy, funny, just a tad angsty, and oh so very good all around. All Wound Up had all the things that I love in a sports romance and it had me smiling days after I was done. Fans of the genre will not be disappointed.

Jaci Burton is the queen of sports romance! All Wound Up is another home run in the play by play series.

Tucker Cassidy is the newest pitcher to the St. Louis Rivers Baseball team but the boy seems to have the worst luck. After a painful knee from his ex-girlfriend to the groin, that leaves him in a ball of pain and at a team party much less, Tucker encounters Dr. Aubry Ross, daughter of the River Owner, and a beautiful woman who makes Tucker head spin just a bit. Tucker seems to be prone to hurt, landing himself in Aubry's ER not once but twice over a two week period.

Aubry finds Tucker sexy as hell, but she's too busy with work to think about dating, much less a ball player - which she swore she would never do. But Tucker is persistent and who wouldn't want flirtatious, funny man warming her bed and helping to relieve some of the stress of her residency. After a little persuasion from friends - Aubry finally gives in and goes on a date with Tucker. Sparks fly for both and soon they find themselves in a full blown relationship. Their relationship has been kept on the downlow but how much longer can they remain a secret?

Tucker was cocky yet flirtatious and sexy as all get out. Aubry was a sex kitten waiting to roar with the right guy and Tucker was her perfect match. A super fun and steamy read. Highly recommend this book and this entire series!

This is my first Play By Play book since Jaci Burton ran out of Riley family to write about. I requested it because it focused on a baseball player.

I liked Tucker, and him being a twin and a pitcher was fun for me. Aubrey is a talented doctor and I enjoyed the dynamics of her challenging career and the blossoming relationship.

Play by Play books are known for their sexy scenes. Where the scenes were plentiful they were not high on the steamy or sensual side - I tend to like intimate scenes to be more plot worthy.

The conflict that tears them apart - as required by all romance books - kind of irked me, the resolution not as satisfying as I hoped.

In the end the book served its purpose - I enjoyed it - however with the typical plot points and not as much meat in the story as I generally like I will probably refrain from purchasing future books in this series - due to the cost - and borrow them from the library or pick up at an UBS.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.

I loved this latest book in the Play By Play series. This is Tucker Cassidy's book. I love the Cassidy family and with 3 more brothers and a sister we are assured of some more great stories ahead. Tucker, a pitcher for St. Louis suffers some unfortunate injuries and ends up in the emergency room where he is treated by the owners daughter Aubrey, who is a resident there. After his second trip to the ER, Tucker convinces Aubrey to go out with him. Their relationship is very sweet, very steamy, low on drama and progresses quite naturally. The majority of their conflict stems from their crazy schedules and her dad who thinks Aubrey should not date and focus only on her career. Quite a lot of the book takes place in the ER and being a nurse, I ate that up. Great book. 5 stars.

My only issue is that sometimes when Aubry and Tucker spoke to each other, it seemed stiff and formal. Some things just seemed to lack emotion, almost like they were narrating.

I'm still a huge fan of this series. Can't wait for Barrett's book next! :)

This was a good read. Tucker is a baseball player and Aubrey is the coaches daughter. She never meant to fall in love but it happened. However, things got messy when her father threatened Tucker. Luckily in the end everyone came to their senses and they got their happy ending.

My favorite so far in this chunk. Maybe because it's baseball? I just really loved the formation and way that Aubrey and Tucker worked together and built. Plus the meet disaster was pretty great. Only wish was we saw more of the Rileys, but I get that we're quite a few books from the core group and now onto the Cassidy family. Did get a little bit of Liz though.

Aubrey gave in awfully easily and neither person seemed to struggle too much as their relationship progressed. It was a nice story but perhaps a little too much like real life to have been a favorite. I like when they work for the "forever" feeling a little more.

Favorite Quote: “He has great hands…Great control of his balls.”

When Tucker Cassidy’s crazy girlfriend of two months pushes to move in with him, his resounding no ends with him on the ground, trying to recover from a knee to the groin. Lucky for him, the good doctor is in.

Dr. Aubry Ross only wanted to get some more wine for her parent’s party but duty calls when she sees a man writhing on the ground, clutching his groin. After a quick check, she pronounces him good to go.

Tucker ends up in her emergency room two more times, causing Aubry to wonder if he’s injuring himself just to see her. Not on the market for a relationship, her residency takes up all her time. But she can’t help but gravitate to the smart and oh so sexy pitcher whose sinful eyes promise good times to be had.

As their relationship heats up, so do their choices. When Aubry’s father threatens Tucker’s career, will Tucker choose baseball or Aubry?

Number ten in Burton’s sports oriented contemporary romance series, Play By Play, takes us back to the Cassidy family and the only baseball player in the family-Tucker Cassidy. A smoothly written lightweight story that tells of a romance that develops between a sweet couple amidst crazy work schedules, interfering relatives, and a sexual connection that confounds and satisfies them both.

Tucker Cassidy is a nice man. A confident, sexy, phenomenal pitcher for the St. Louis Rivers, he is pretty much at the top of his game and life. He doesn’t expect or demand genuflection for his skill or fame. Not looking for “the one” especially after an embarrassing episode with his ex girlfriend, he is shocked by his reaction to the gorgeous Dr who swoops him to check him out after he is kneed in the groin.

Dr. Aubry Ross is an emergency room resident and daughter of the St. Louis River’s owner. Content with her life as it is, she isn’t looking for any relationships as she chooses to focus on her career. Intelligent, witty, and very dedicated, she doesn’t want to date period but she can’t help the attraction she feels towards Tucker and after much debate, sort of agrees to a date. Of course, being a man, he makes some mistakes.

He turned around and walked through the doors before she had a chance to tell him no. Damn that man. He was infuriating. To think he’d assume she’d go out to dinner with him—do anything with him, was outrageous. When he came back, she’d tell him.

All Wound Up is a decent though more laid back romance than the other installments. There are no dark secrets to unravel or emotional hurdles to jump over. A bit of a chase and capture approach brings Tucker and Aubry together and plenty of humor and sex keep them together. I loved Tucker’s ideas for their first date. Bowling and a visit to a psychic were unusual but it showed that Tucker wasn’t just interested in sex. He wanted to do something that would not only capture Aubry’s attention but hopefully hold it. They have some great chemistry and dialogue with lends to some laugh out loud moments.

“Always thinking with your stomach.”
“Either my stomach or my cock. Mostly my cock.”

There are some smaller subplots that circle around, giving us insight into where Tucker and Aubry stand emotionally and professionally.. Both are dedicated to their careers and families and neither ask the other to give anything up. There is much respect on both sides. I did enjoy seeing more of the Cassidys, especially the brothers. They are a close family and their camaraderie and hilarious banter shows this. Burton uses these scenes into the Cassidy family dynamics to further expand on their individual storylines and prepare us for the next brother to fall off the market.

As I stated earlier, this is very lightweight story. Formulaic in that there is no real problems for them to overcome. A little bit of conflict and angst regarding their relationship and outside influences but everything is resolved rather quickly and without much fanfair. Sexually speaking the story is hot and spicy as Burton is wrought to do though I did feel it became repetitive after a while. I would have loved more personal talk between them in the bedroom as they became closer-something that took them out of their comfort zones.

All Wound Up is a quick and easy romance that doesn’t inspire much emotional investment from the reader but does offer a nice respite from the heat of the summer with some steamy sex, witty dialogue, and an uncomplicated romance.
