With the trial approaching, tensions among the deer are high and the humans, including Cole, are left feeling a little lost in the middle. His mate is never far away but Julian has his own troubles as he waits to hear what the kings have in store for his friends. The cats demand justice for their murdered kin, but the only person that knows what really happened isn’t talking to anyone.
Caitlin was fortunate growing up to be surrounded by family and teachers that encouraged her love of reading. She has always been a voracious reader and that love of the written word easily morphed into a passion for writing. If she isn't writing, she can usually be found studying as she works toward her counseling degree. She comes from a military family and the men and women of the armed forces are close to her heart. She also enjoys gardening and horseback riding in the Colorado Rockies where she calls home with her wonderful fiance and their dog. Her belief that there is no one true path to happily ever after runs deeply through all of her stories.
I had no idea this book came out and was kicking myself when I saw that I’d missed it. I really wanted to see how the series ended and this shortie capped off the cliffhanger that was left dangling in book one. It’s quite short and really more of a long epilogue, but it tied up all the loose ends and left our protagonists, and their friends, with a satisfying ending.
Julian is a small deer shifter, and Cole, his mate, was the human ex-military enslaved in a dystopian society gone mad. Cole and Julian had the cards stacked against them, but they prevailed in the end. You definitely have to read the first full length book, Being Wanted, but this one is integral to getting the complete story and happy ending.
Recommended for those who read the first book, like shifters, and dystopian societies.
This would have been a scene in a longer book, the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because had it been part of a book, I would have loved it. As it is, it was sex, trial, sex, the end.
