Really love this series! They are so cute, and I think they will have definite appeal to kids transitioning from beginner books to chapters. The full color art is nice, and I appreciate that Eva is a nice kid - I feel like there has been a mini-trend in kids lit to main characters who are kind of a pill.

Can I just say how neat the font is? This is the second instalment of the Owl Diaries series, and it certainly does not disappoint!

I love how adorable these books are. They don't take too long and the story is not dragged out. They are short and simple and funny. The artwork is good too.
I really enjoyed the mystery of the ghosts in this story and how eventually everyone worked together to solve the mystery.
I am not sure about Eva's classification of Sue being mean because Sue has helped Eva in both books so far.
I think for kids the first chapter is definitely useful, a review of the main character, and it also means you can read the books in any order.
A definite recommend book.

Color illustrations, diary-style lines, repetition, and a mystery to be solved will be perfect motivation for kids transitioning out of early readers as they gain confidence reading this easy chapter book.

At first Eva's friends didn't believe her, but I liked that they eventually did. I liked that the ghost turned out to be an owl. It was funny when Eva said the owl was a ghost.

The book was about an owl named Eva who thought she saw a ghost. I liked going on Eva's adventure with her to see if her ghost was real. Eva is much braver than me. If I saw a ghost, I would be freaking out and running away. Eva wanted to catch the ghost and see if it was real!

Good sequel
My daughter loved the way the owls banded together for the Ghost Hunt. I appreciated the fact that once again Eva modeled problem-solving and determination.

A series offered by Scholastic's Branches imprint of early chapter books. Lots of visual support for the text, making it perfect for emergent readers and children transitioning from picture books into chapter books. The diary format produces text in a conversational style, further enhanced through the abundant use of speech bubbles. The protagonist, Eva, is a likable, creative problem-solver who likes to involve and support her friends. Each volume contains comprehension questions at the back of the book.
In this second title of the series, Eva is certain she keeps seeing a ghost, but no one believes her. She tries on her own to get proof, and when that doesn't work out, her whole class goes on a ghost hunt together. In the end, the "ghost" turns out to be something else entirely, teaching Eva that first assumptions are not always correct.

I brought this home for my daughter and then ended up sitting down and reading it. Very cute and I'm glad because I recommend these all the time to 1st-2nd grade girls that are looking for beginner chapter books. Great first step into reading option. I love these Branches series.

{My thoughts} – This book started out like the first telling all about Eva. The things she likes and dislikes and where she lives. It’s always nice when the author takes the time to help remind readers of previous world building in previous books.
In this book Eva claims she’s seeing a ghost after her teacher had told the class a scary story. She goes out to hunt the ghost, but had problems proving that it’s real. She tries to take a picture but is so scared that the picture ends up blurry.
Eventually one night at school her class here’s a loud sound on the roof. They then look out the window and come to the conclusion that the ghosts are real. She manages to get her whole class to go on a ghost hunt with her.
I like how this book takes something scary for many children and helps to show them that things aren’t always as they may first appear. Eva thought she’d been seeing ghost but really it was just more owls like her. She learned that sometimes your mind and brain can play tricks on you, but it’s always a good idea to keep an open mind to other interpretations.

The more I read of the Owl Diaries books, the more Eva the Owlet grows on me. I'm beginning to thoroughly enjoy her "voice" throughout the story, as well as the lists she makes at the start of every book. I still sometimes think the moral is a little too "on the nose" and too sweet but I think that's just the type of owl that Eva is.

These are so cute!!!! Eva sees a ghost and no one believes her. Her entire class bands together after they, too, see the ghost and a surprising mystery is unveiled. The Branches series is PERFECT for 1-2 grade readers.

For an easy-chap read, I was very surprised by the sophisticated and creative approach of using the diary/scrapbook type narrative. The illustration reminds me of colourful arts and crafts which would interest a young reader. Big name my pick if ask "what is a good choice for early readers?"

Read this in one sitting with my 1st grader - we loved it! It is a wonderful early chapter book for little girls. So funny and creative. We are looking forward to reading the other books in this Own Diaries series.
