Beauty from Pain (Beauty, #1) Beauty from Pain by Georgia Cates

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beauty From Pain was recommended to me by my sister and so I was excited to start this read!

I have to put two disclaimers out there, Beauty From Pain is not a BDSM book, the title is explained on the last page and there’s a cliff-hanger ending but that is okay because Beauty from Surrender is out. .

Anyhow, I would say Beauty From Pain was a light New Adult romantic contemporary read that a lot of people will like.

Jack is a rich handsome Australian winemaker. He doesn’t like complicated relationships and goes into them with an expiration date. Laurelyn is on vacation from the states and plans to stay in Australia for 3 months. Laurenlyn catches Jack’s eye and he wants her to be number 13. Jack proposes to Laurenlyn the idea of a 3 month relationship, where they don’t know each other’s real names and once the 3 months are over, both go on their separate ways and never talk to each other again. In return Laurenlyn gets a fantasy filled relationship. Laurenlyn agrees.

The summary is pretty awesome and it’s the main reason why I wanted to read the story.

I liked Jack and Laurelyn’s story, I didn’t get a lot of back story, but I did feel like the flow was great. I am not a fan of relationships forming too quickly and you get the sense that Jack and Laurelyn are getting to know each other, even though they already had sex.

There are plenty issues and side plots that kept me interested, but there wasn’t one huge issue. I am very happy the whole story wasn’t flat or one note, each chapter progresses and shifts the relationship. I think if the relationship didn’t shift, I would have been highly disappointment, but I was kind of kept on my toes.

I liked the ending, cliff-hanger or not. I know very different from how I usually see cliffys, but it's true!

Overall, the tone and feel of Beauty From Pain is pretty light and breezy and a huge contrast to the actual title name and cover.

I recommend Beauty From Pain and just know there’s a cliff-hanger ending, but it’s really worth the read.

Beauty from Surrender (Beauty, #2) Beauty from Surrender by Georgia Cates

WHOA… One word to describe Beauty from Surrender is SEX!!!

Lots and lots of S.E.X!

I liked Beauty from Pain, even with the epic cliffy **shaking head**, so you can see how very excited I was for Beauty from Surrender

Disclaimer There is no cliffy in Beauty from Surrender and there’s a HEA, but there’s enough of an opening for book 3, which from reading Georgia Cate’s blog, hasn’t been decided if it’s going to be a full novel or novella.

I’ll tell you now… I will read book 3 and I prefer novels :D

We pick right where we left off from Beauty from Pain (if you haven’t read book 1, then stop reading) so Laurelyn went back to the states and Jack **gasp** wakes up with no Laurelyn.

Let’s be honest people, this is the sh!t I crave. Yeah!
Stupid Jack Henry, why didn’t you tell Laurelyn you loved her?!

I want her for-f&cking-ever.

I knew you were the next one the second I laid eyes on you singing in that club, but you can never imagine my surprise when I realized that you weren’t just the next one- you were the last one

You want her Jack Henry? Well do something about it! And he does. Laurelyn is depressed in the states, but she continues to pursue her singing career and at the same time Jack Henry tries to find her. This isn’t dragged out that long and I liked seeing Laruelyn in the states doing her own thing. It was different for me.

There’s been no other mans since you- not inside my head, my heart or my body.

So, let’s address the very obvious thing I noticed. I would say about …. maybe more than half of the read is STEAM. Now, ladies, I’m all for those reads and honestly it didn’t take away from the read, but LORD… you will be fanning yourself. I only wish (mild complaint) it was kinkier! BUT that’s just me.

I’m so pissed off right now that I can’t see straight. I simultaneously love the f&ck out of you while I hate your guts. I don’t know if I want to slap your face or get naked with you.

I don’t regret you for a second. You’re my favorite complication and you always will be.

Overall the tone and feel of the Beauty from surrender is VERY lovey and light, there is some tension and you can tell by my status updates when it happens.

At 15% … I’m happy

At 30%, it’s steamy, but I’m pretty happy

At 51% … yup more steamy scenes

At 86% there’s full blown out tension and I’m about to throw my tablet at the wall

At some parts, I wanted to punch Laurelyn in the face, BUT thank god for Addison, who kind of tries to be the voice of reason. Oh and my favorite scene… the one in the rain. I pictured that in my head, but instead of Laurelyn, I pictured myself. (Don’t act like you don’t do it too)

I liked Beauty from Surrender, steam and all, but what I enjoyed most was that I finally got the explanation of the title. I ALWAYS look for this in a read and yup, had a smile on my face when I got it.

I think if you started the series, it would be good to finish it with Beauty from Surrender and from there you can decide if you want to move forward with book 3.

Beauty from Love (Beauty, #3) Beauty from Love by Georgia Cates

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Beauty Lovin’ Stars

It’s the final book to Jack and Laurelyn’s story!!!!

Jack and Laurenlyn are happily married. Now, they must go through all the things that one goes through during the first year of marriage.

I wouldn’t call Beauty from Love very dramatic or angsty. The book was sweet with some hardships, but nothing too crazy. I overall enjoyed the story and was glad to see this story have a proper ending.

Jack is still the lovable alpha male. He’s completely in love with L and will do anything to make her happy. L is a typical girl and is kind of crazy at times, but she’s all around level headed.

Typical expectations are will happen in this book, I will not name what, but I kind of figured it would happen and it didn’t upset or bore me, I just went along for the ride.

I really liked how detail Georgia went with this one. It didn’t turn me off, but enhance my reading experience. You could really feel the emotions between Jack and L and feel for them as well. You will know what I am talking about when you get to that part.

If you started the series, you just definitely end it. It’s a sweet conclusion to an adorable couple.

Awesome author

This trilogy was just too long for me. I did love Jack and Laurelyn and together they made magic happen but it was so repetitive. The amount of love scenes would be way over a hundred! I would have loved this book as a 350 page story instead of 3 books.
(But that’s just me.. not a fan of reading near 1000 pages on any one couple). Jack was not perfect and had made some poor decisions in the past that would repeatedly be brought into the present. Laurelyn was a struggling American singer/songwriter which I loved and she was a very worth heroine. Great family involvement from one side of the family, a waste of words for the other side. Drama galore with plenty of steamy sex scenes.

What an incredible deal! Lovers of the rich, controlling alpha hero style of romance will not want to miss buying the BEAUTY BUNDLE, which contains all three books in the series. For nearly the price of just one book, you get all three with over 700 pages of a deliciously, erotic romance that you will not want to miss. In fact, with a combined nearly 70,000 ratings on Goodreads, averaging an impressive 4.24, it's a safe bet to say that the passionate romance between Jack and Laurelyn has become a romance community favorite.

As this bundle includes the entire series, I'll be brief in my description of the background so as to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

The story begins in BEAUTY FROM PAIN. Jack McLachlan is a successful entrepreneur, who owns a winemaking business. As one of Australia's most eligible bachelors, he could have the woman of his choosing, but has little time outside of work to devote to a relationship. He instead prefers to negotiate relationship terms upfront with no real names being exchanged and short, defined duration periods being key.

Lauren Prescott, an American musician who is visiting Australia, is the perfect next candidate. Her time in Australia is limited which matches up perfectly with Jack's needs. Thus begins their agreed upon three-month affair, but Jack's game is soon changed on him and before the three months ends, he soon finds that rules are sometimes meant to be broken.

The story then continues BEAUTY FROM SURRENDER. Laurelyn returns to the US and Jack remains in Australia. In an effort to forget, Laurelyn devotes herself to her music career which pays dividends with success. Jack, in turn, is not so lucky spending three months looking for Laurelyn. But when he does find her, he finds a changed woman. Will Jack be able to convince this now successful musician that true happiness lies with him?

Jack's and Laurelyn's story concludes in BEAUTY FROM LOVE. Even after this couple supposedly gets their HEA, they come to learn that the past can always rear it's ugly head to challenge their planned forever. Will the relationship they have built to this point be sufficient to overcome the odds against them?

If you, like me, enjoy getting to know characters and watching their relationship and romance evolve over a series, then the BEAUTY BUNDLE is a great buy not to be passed up!

Not for me.

Read beginning of bk 2. h apparently told H she loved him at end of bk 1 but H said nothing and let her go. He doesn't even know her full name, I think and per their agreement never wants to see her again.

Later - drunk and missing h - H picks up random OW at hotel bar( he went there on purpose for that!). There is detailed smexing scene, both of them are naked, OW is all over him, H has his hands on her boobs - and H has an erection:( OW puts condom on him and thats when H says stop.

Well you said it far too late for me buddy!!

Also in this separation h doesn't move on at all - as far as I've read she is semi-cataconic with grief ( while H is making plans to boink OW!! ). Apparently some guy does kiss her but its not what she wanted.

“I knew you were the next one the second I laid my eyes on you singing in that club, but you can never imagine my surprise when I realized that you weren’t just the next one—you were the last one.”

GC wrote beautifully the story of Jack Henry and L- I particularly like the dual point of view as it gave us a real insight in their relationship.
Love, passion ,heartbreak, tears... You experience everything and you can't help but LOVE Caveman! JH is one of the most dedicated Alpha males, so endearing, I fell in love BIG TIME!
"All I have to do is look at you and I’m love drunk.”

I have to mention the character of Margaret, Jack Henry's mum!! She's is AMAZEBALLS, BEST MUM/MOTHER IN LAW❤️❤️❤"️You use the power of the nookie to get the results you want.”

*****5 STARS*****
I absolutely LOVED this series, and could not put it down! It had me hooked from the first couple chapters. I liked everything about this series, from the writing style to the characters and the plot, and everything in between. It had just the right amount of humor, angst, love and romance, and sex. At times, it reminded me a little of some of my absolute favorite reads (I don't want to say which ones and mislead you at all). I will tell you, THIS IS NOT A BDSM BOOK! I assumed it was, from the title of the first book one. It's not that kind of pain (winky face). There was a point in the second book where I felt the story was dragging a little, and I really wanted some resolution, but that's pretty common in the second book of a trilogy. The series did have ALL the elements I LOVE (lots of feels, hot sex, a sassy heroine, a sexy alpha with a soft spot for his family, short chapters, HEA, and a fantastic epilogue). You can't go wrong with this series! I just wonder how I never found it sooner???

If you are looking for a sexy, angsty, romantic story with elements of humor, super steamy sex, and hot Aussies, look no further! Georgia Cates takes character development seriously, and I loved every single, well-written, main and secondary character in this trilogy. The plot itself is continually surprising, with twisty turns and ugly truths, well blended with steamy love scenes and truly romantic gestures. Overall, I would recommend this series to anyone who loves a good romance.

It was an ok read

The story line was ok. Lots of sex. Can't complain about that. It seems like that is all they did though. They fought, had sex. Every time Jack's past came into play they fought. I guess with his kind of past, that is to be expected.

Beauty from Pain - 4 stars
1. The thing with Jack buying Laurelyn a phone made no sense. If he had a phone strictly for her to contact him so that she didn't know his real name and number, why did she have to have a separate phone as well?
2. The weird Australian slang took away from my enjoyment of the book. eg. "sanger", "coldie", "chunder", "choofing off", "had a naughty".
3. You can't be "statuesque" when you're lying down. 🙄
4. If Jack didn't want Laurelyn to know his identity, why would he take her to the opera knowing that they would be photographed by the paparazzi for the society pages?
Beauty From Surrender - 2 stars
This book was such a disappointment after the first one.
1. Jack hired an investigator to find Audrey but when Laurelyn left, he asked Ben for her address and then gave up and went looking for another woman to f#%k. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
2. Jack was a total a$$hole to imply to Laurelyn that he hadn't been with anyone else when he'd done everything but f#%k another woman within days of Laurelyn leaving.
3. Why was it automatically assumed that it was *Laurelyn* that had to give up her entire life so that they could be together? Jack was insanely rich; he could have hired people to manage his vineyards and moved to Nashville to support her.
4. Why did Jack think it was ok for him to try to make Laurelyn feel guilty for choosing her career over him when he was doing exactly the same thing with his vineyards?
5. "Ecstasy controller", "erogenous nub"??? 🙄🙄
6. When Laurelyn found out that Jack had been with someone else and lied to her about it, she forgave him WAY too quickly and easily. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Beauty From Love - 1 star
1. Jack told his mother that he couldn't tell her about Laurelyn's attack because Laurelyn didn't want people to know the details and then, he told her anyway!!! 🤬🤬🤬
2. I think that Laurelyn was entirely justified in being angry that she kept being confronted by other women that her husband had slept with.
3. Jack owed his wife the respect and courtesy of doing whatever it took to make her comfortable with him having a young, beautiful intern. At the very least, he should have told Bianca to dress in a professional manner and to address him as Mr. McLachlan the way every other one of his employees did. He blew off Laurelyn's concerns when she told him that Bianca was inappropriately interested in him and when he started to see that it was true, he did NOTHING about it.
4. Even after he had totally ignored Laurelyn's concerns about Bianca, when she came home to find them in an extremely compromising situation, she wasn't even upset with him. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
5. Just how much was Laurelyn going to forgive? Finding out that she was pregnant should have been such a special time but instead, it was ruined by yet ANOTHER one of Jack's lovers. After Jenna forced him to take a paternity test and then tried to blackmail them, Laurelyn apologized to Jack for being bitchy about the situation!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Total - 2.3 stars

Honestly tho I like the characters . But in the story there is no wow factor. In my opinion the story shouldn’t be this long like trilogy kind of long . There is so many unwanted drama and it could’ve cut short. And there is many things that don’t have any closure such a Aubrey what happened to her ?? L’s mom is lost a cannon L should have confronted her for the final time . Then all jack’s psychotic ex’s . It’s like his the only hot piece of millionaire in the world . Give it break bro

I don’t feel that much passion btw them ( its my opinion if not pardon me ) Jack Henry and L is good but I can’t pin point what exactly I am missing in them .Even tho it’s good story . The writing style is not really my thing. And I absolutely hate when the female protagonist say in her her mind “ omygod l love him “ “ omygod he is so sweet “ “ omygod I can’t live without him “
“ omygod he is so handsome “ it’s so cringe 😬. As all I said and done for me it’s a okay quick read .

I have to give this series 5 stars!

I rarely give a book 5 stars. However, this series was so enjoyable and so engaging. The reason I gave it five stars is because it made me feel every emotion that one should feel when reading a really good book. I even cried a few times because I was so moved by the story and the precise writing!

The characters were deeply developed and deeply flawed at the beginning but really grew on me and as well as growing together. This was really a pleasurable series to read and it had a very nice HEA! I will definitely read more books written by this author. Her work was great! Thank you for such an enjoyable read!

Great erotica in this book too!

The writing itself is enjoyable but what bothered me was that absolutely the only thing in Laurelyn’s life is her relationship with this guy, except for in the second book where she had a music career where she always dreamed off but apparently didn’t really care that much about because she gives up everything for Jack to go back to Australia where she just sits on her ass and waits for him to get home so they can have sex. The only problems this couple encounters are shitty exes, Laurelyn only has one but I swear there are 3 different problems with Jack’s exes and it gets just repetitive and makes me question why in the world he even choose to be with them but the writing itself was good just the storyline was a little bit too predictable for me, still finished it though

Mediocre

This is a mediocre story and I can’t say I really enjoyed it. The major drama and plot in the story revolves around other women. Every book has OW drama. I think we get 4 different women trying to ruin their relationship. Add to that there is ‘The Big Misunderstanding’ plot device and that’s my least favorite thing ever.

FMC acted like a little bitch every time something didn’t go her way, and she really got on my nerves. The only thing I really liked about this story is Margaret, the mother in law. In the first two books the couple had so much sex it was tiring, in the last book their sex life is basically shut down forever.

Beautiful Lovr

Follow Jack Henry McLachlan and Laurelyn Paige Prescott from the time of their "arrangement" through marriage and family. They deal with separations, his sordid past, crazy exes, and family drama. Jack and Laurelyn's deep abiding love helps them to handle everything lifw throws at them and come out on the other side stronger than ever.

I enjoyed the “Australian winemaker playboy falls for Nashville country singer” plot but too much sex for me and not enough exploring certain plot points like crazy exes, music scene, billionaire roots. Loved Margaret, Jack’s mother the most. I do think this will make a great PassionFlix film - so much story potential to film!

3.7. At best

See my review under first book Beauty from Pain

No real tension. No real reason he had to Kee things so secret and have secret 3 mth no names shared affair

No real threat. All conflicts and confusions resolves within one page.

Her parents and. Birth Father were just there. Never really made plot move forward s. Get like written by a first year writing student.

Book 1 Beauty from Pain
This is book one of the beauty series. READ THEM IN ORDER!! Otherwise, you will have spoilers and will be very upset! Jack McLachlan prefers exclusivity with a beautiful woman with no commitment, nothing long term, no real names. These relationships are like business arrangements. “I’m a very wealthy man. The three months we spend together would be the best of your life. You’d never be able to top what you’d experience with me.” “I’d make your fantasies a reality.” My first question was where do I sign up?

This is his game, he makes the regulations. He is up for usual game, until Laurelyn Prescott shows up and he has to rethink his strategy. He has gone against so much he has tried to hide in the past and prevent from happening. Will she end up being the ultimate game changer?

Laurelyn has just come out of a bad relationship. Is what Jack is offering just what she needs to take her mind away and start her 3 month vacation off right? Or will she accept his proposal to spend 3 months with Jack?

I loved this book because of the sexual content and language that is not recommended for younger readers. I thought Jack was a real jerk, and who does he think he is? Everyone compares every billionaire book they read to Fifty Shades of Grey because it has forever set precedence, but this is not the same story line. You may think you know what is going to happen, but you don’t. Yes, Jack is rich, and he wants to dominate Laurelyn, but is she submissive? I only gave this book 4 stars because I was left with a cliffhanger, those really make me mad. I was given the opportunity to read the entire series together. So I highly recommend getting all three books at once so once you finish one, you can immediately start the next one so you aren’t mad for long. My theory on cliffhangers is, why give them? If you love a story that much, you are going to get the next book regardless. Why leave me hanging to get to the next one? I promise you still intrigued throughout the entire book.

Book 2 Beauty from Surrender
This is book 2 in the Beauty Series and I highly recommend reading them in order to avoid spoilers. Laurelyn returns home, walking away from the love of her life. She is set on finding something to take her mind of Jack Henry. She occupies her time with her music. Old relationships bring in new expectations. She refuses an opportunity she had always dreamed about, only to find a new door open with an even better prospect for the future. Will her career take precedence to her heart desires? Or will wanting Jack Henry supersede her career?

Jack Henry McLachlan never expected to fall in love. But he let her slip away. After searching for her for 3 months, their reunion is not what he expected. She is a top musician with a skyrocketing career. Will he be able to convince her to come home to him or is her home on the road with the band? He has one month to influence her decision on what he thinks is best for her and what he wants. But do they both want the same thing?

Again I gave this book 4 stars. I was left with another cliffhanger on what decision she was going to make. Will she choose her career or her heart’s desires? Make up sex is the best, whether you are making up for time apart, or attempting to get back together. Jack Henry is a marathon man. Everyone woman desires to have half of what Jack Henry has to offer. This was another awesome read. I highly recommend proceeding to book three to get an end to these two cliffhangers.

Book 3 Beauty From Love
This is book 3 of the beauty series and the conclusion to Jack Henry & Laurelyn Prescott’s story. Jack Henry had no idea that his last arrangement would be his final one. Will a three month promise turn into forever? Everyone has skeletons in their closet, but Jack Henry’s knows no boundaries and seem to keep appearing. Will their love trump all of their past events? Who will prove themselves stronger in the relationship?

There is a lot of drama, happiness, and sadness in this story. Your emotions will be all over the place. Will having the one you love by your side be enough? Will Laurelyn still want to pursue her music career? I gave this book 5 stars for giving me a finale to my cliffhangers and all the hot honeymoon sex. Laurelyn and Jack Henry are an amazing couple and their story is definitely not Christian and Anastasia. So indulge in this series, IN ORDER, and see for yourself.

“You were once my beauty from pain, before you became by beauty from surrender. Now you've adapted into something different again."
"And what is that?"
"My beauty from love... Forever.”

I am so glad we got that email saying, “Try This” because it was a new author for both Emmy and I. The story was so much better than I had anticipated. Though I will be honest, the moment Emmy said, “Hey did you see this?” (as I looked over at her computer)” It’s about an Aussie,” I was like, “Sign me up.” (It was said with wide eyes too...lol) I am not ashamed of that either. I love Australia, have since I was a little kid. And the fact that my fiance is an Aussie has only made my love of the region more intense. Then reading the blurbs made me really want to read it. It’s about an American Gal, a southerner as it is meeting an Aussie businessman. Minus the whole man part its so me and my girl. So a double winner! You read what ya like after all. (cheeky grin)

This Trilogy was awesome, hot, comical, exasperating, anger filled, sexy, drama filled and a great story. The characters either grow in you so you love them or hate them. There was many times throughout reading this Trilogy that I wanted so desperately to go through the pages and choke someone. The main characters included. (laughs) My poor kindle almost got tossed a few times, it’s a knee-jerk reaction I have when a book gets to a point where I want to smack someone or scream at a character. My mom learned years ago to not walk in front of me when I am reading… you never know where the book was going to get tossed. (snorts)

The only issue I had with the trilogy was.. and this may just be me, though I know my blog co-owner Emmy had the same thoughts, it had too much sex in it at parts.(ducks and hides) Yeah, yeah I know I am weird but its how it felt to me. I would have liked to have seen more talking and diving into the characters problems, fears or whatever was going on instead of the hot monkey sex. But do not mistake that as it not having GREAT sex ‘cause.. just yeah. I have to say Mrs. Cates is very good at giving you a full detail of what is going on. Made me blush a lot while reading… but that isn’t hard to do anyhow. (laughs) Though a few parts made Emmy blush and that is not easy to do!!! #BestFriendFact

I loved how the characters and how they interacted whether it be in a loving way, a naughty way or in a confrontational way. The dynamic was so intense no matter what. I sat there a few times and was like, damn, that was unreal. And as I told Emmy she nailed the whole overprotective, cocky attitude of Jack’s. And again, I know you can't judge a whole region on one or two people but aside from Aussie’s being some of the nicest people you will ever meet, they are overprotective, domineering and do not share what is theirs. Well the ones I know anyhow. The fiance especially fits the bill. Not that I am not the exact same with her. This trilogy appealed to me for so many reasons. And we all hope to have a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother like Margaret… and then some. Laurelyn is the best friend we all want, and I am lucky enough to have that in Emmy. (grins) you know the one that will do anything for you at any given moment. And as for Jack, we all want that one person, our soul mate that once we meet them we never want to lose them. The mere thought of it would tear us in two.

All in all it is a MUST read for me. I will be telling more than a few person to read it. My fiance Lauren has already gotten it, and her sister is the next on my list. Since they will get a kick out of it and I know they will love it. We shall spread the word and I do hope in the near future to get my hands on Mrs. Cates other works. I can only imagine how awesome they are.
