Harri Ryder is a Combat Sergeant in Global Police Northern AC:Bravo and a struggling Further Policing Diploma student. On a research trip for her dissertation, she makes the mistake of getting distracted by her greatest weakness, a pretty face. Desperately trying to catch up, on the week’s missed work, another officer takes pity on her. One thing leads to another and soon Jaxson Hawthorne is sharing things he never thought he’d share again.
Day M. Ravenstone is a teen author living in Bournemouth, England. He balances writing with university, where he is studying BA Creative Writing. Growing up queer in a small market town in North Yorkshire, Day didn’t know that being a police officer was an option for him - despite it being a childhood dream. Now, as an avid consumer of any form of crime fiction, Day feels under-represented as a queer aspiring police officer. He aims to stop anyone else feeling like this by writing books about LGBTQ+ people thriving on the force.
Day lives every day to make his younger self proud.

I sped through this book so fast. It’s friggin’ great and my favourite of Day’s books so far. This is his most adult work yet and focuses on the relationship between Harri and Jaxson, an LGBT couple in the Global Police Force in Strasbourg. I was hooked on the romance between these two right from the start and it was done so well. The characters, the humour, the dialogue, (the coffee dates!) were all perfectly done. Jaxson was brilliant - strong yet vulnerable, but the words coming out of his mouth were also just really blooming hot. Scenes of an intimate nature are difficult to write well and here it was handled with aplomb. Looking forward to meeting these two characters again in the next book in the series!
As my first published book with adult scenes, Combats will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m so pleased with how it came out. Harri and Jaxson’s story came out just how I wanted it to. I can’t wait for everyone to read how married life treats them in Global Police Northern book 2, Pistols. Proof reading this in one sitting was so much fun because I could really see the story through a reader’s eyes.
